Real Current Name: Cat
*Cat's birth name is known only to her as she no longer goes by it and refuses to give it out.
Hero Name: Shift
Age: 23
Gender: Identifies as female, regardless of her form
Powers:
Cat can shape-shift, both into other people and animals. When she touches someone or some animal, she gains the ability to physically transform into them. She appears exactly the way they looked the last time she touched them (including clothing, personal belongings touching their person, and hygiene), and her voice also changes to match theirs. If they have any physical ailments or injuries, those also appear and affect her while she's in their form. If she shifts into a supernatural being with a physical-oriented power she can access it, but it takes a massive amount of energy that would result in immediate unconsciousness and she therefore rarely uses it. She doesn't need any energy to stay in a certain form, but it takes energy to shift between them. The bigger the form, the more energy it takes going into it. Due to that, she's usually tired and hungry and takes naps often.
She's also trained in basic combat and covert operations.
Appearance:Cat's default human form is a young woman seen below. She's slim, Caucasian, and stands at about five foot seven.
*Any other forms she takes will be described in the text when she takes them.
History: Cat was born in the heat of summer and given to an overcrowded, underfunded orphanage. It didn't take long for people to forget about her, and it took even less time for her to figure out how to hide. The first few years of her life were bustling and chaotic, assisted only by a stray cat she made friends with, and it was as though no one knew she even existed. Unknowingly, she was changing between every kid at the orphanage she had touched - literally making it as though she didn't exist. It didn't take much longer for her to run away from the orphanage. She found out what she was doing by accident soon afterwards, and once she figured out how to control it life on the street was surprisingly easy.
She grew up quickly, and got over any fear of the law and death she had. Something happened in one body? Change to another. Running out of money? Find someone with some. Tired of dealing with people? Become a cat, or a dog. Cold? Fly south with the birds. It seemed that the world was her oyster - life couldn't get much better. And then it did. She stumbled across a group of people that knew what she was, and took her in. They trained her, and for a while she ran with them. It wasn't the same independence as before, but that was something she was willing to trade in for the sense of family they gave her.
But then, they pushed their power too far. The others believed they had the right to take people's lives simply because they wanted to, and Cat did not agree. That was a poison she refused to sip. When they wouldn't take the drink away, she abandoned them. The gang didn't take this lightly - leaving Cat with no choice but to move, find a new name, and stop using every form she had taken in their presence. She went back to the streets, back to the life of robbing people's pockets, homes, and lives. Despite her ability to be anyone, she knew she needed to lay low from then on. There would be no more assuming someone's form and taking a sudden, uncharacteristic trip to Australia - her old friends would be watching.
One day she picked the wrong man to mug, and ended up befriending Izzy. They bonded easily, and have been together since.
Personality: Cat is determined, and generally persistent and stubborn until she gets her way. She is independent save Izzy, who she takes care of as dearly as she cares for herself. She's very wary and careful with new people, and though she has an easy-going demeanor there are people she refuses to get along with. The majority of these people are those she doesn't trust at all. Trust is a large part of relationships to her, and can be easily violated. She's often blunt with people and becomes annoyed with those who sugarcoat bad situations. She reacts on impulse and instinct to most situations, and has a keen eye for details. Her respect for authority was completely eradicated from her system during her stint with the gang, and she had a burning hatred for people telling her what to do. Her morality is a blurred gray line - she has no problem with breaking into houses and stealing people's identities, but she takes murders personally.
Affiliation: Hero
Equipment: Most of her human forms carry a pocket knife.
Other: She has a thing for tattoos, her second default form is an orange tabby cat, and she considers Izzy family.
