I would defs like to join this. It's not barely used today, it's used a lot. It's just not an individual weapon. It's a crew served weapon.

Well, in the time it took me to type this, go do something else for a little, then actually hit "submit post", I got beat. :(

Do you really, really think that the Browning M2, to use your example, would really continue being used centuries, or even decades, from now when it's barely used today?

Just gonna jump in here and say that the M2 has widespread use. It is the main heavy machinegun of the U.S. military and many other NATO countries as well. Just about everything from Tanks to Ships to Humvees that can have one, does have one. Really, it depends how far in the future this RP takes place whether it would still be in use or not.

But everything I just said really has nothing to do with magnetic weapons. While I agree Kala that they shouldn't be randomly cancelled, it is the GMs decision what is and isn't in their settings.

Accepted :)

Nice, I'm interested to see what other characters will be.
This work?

NAME: Sergeant John "Jack" Korrick
AGE: 27
SEX: Male

APPEARANCE: Korrick is around 5'8" tall. He has an athletic build and short brown hair kept in a neat crew cut. He has a square face with a prominent chin and brown eyes. He shaves often to keep a clean appearance. He wears his Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform and body armor in a similarly neat fashion.

PERSONALITY: Korrick takes his role as a Marine NCO seriously and applies this role to the survivor group. He see himself as responsible to keep them alive.
“...I will strive to be patient, understanding, just, and firm. I will commend the deserving and encourage the wayward. I will never forget that I am responsible to my Commanding Officer for the morale, discipline, and efficiency of my Men…” -USMC NCO Creed.
Korrick attempts to train the fellow survivors basic skills such as using and maintaining firearms and combat first aid. He talks with the others often and attempts to maintain a friendly relationship with them to keep morale up. Jack often suffers from sleep deprivation from staying on watch often.

HISTORY: He was born and lived in Detroit, Michigan most of his life. After graduating high school, Korrick joined the Marines at age 19. He was deployed on several tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, eventually reaching the rank of sergeant. When the outbreak occurred in America, he was deployed on US soil to assist in quarantines and evacuations.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Jack’s primary skills are those he learned as a Marine from shooting to navigation to making quick decisions under pressure.

ORIGIN: After being deployed, Jack was separated from his platoon and after a long while of walking stumbled upon the research center.

WEAKNESSES: His weaknesses include having almost no knowledge beyond the obvious of infectious diseases and at times disregarding his own well being for the sake of his men, or in this case, group.
It is 1943, less than a year after the end of the Second World War, and the outbreak. The infection began in Germany and spread quickly from there. Rumors spread of the Nazis beginning the infection, which only seemed to be confirmed after the suicides of the party’s leadership. Erwin Rommel was left to lead a crippled and desperate Germany. With the surrender of Italy and Germany and a ceasefire with Japan, the war was, at least temporarily, ended. A new alliance was quickly formed between the former Allies and Axis to combat the infection, now threatening all of Europe. Several combined armies were formed from the countries’ various military forces to purge Europe of the undead.

I will basically be GMing this in a D&D like style (Sorta, not really, but whatever.) I will not have a character, but instead post on behalf of zombies and NPCs stuff like "blah blah blah the horde of infected rushed at the American line, quickly closing the distance. You hear a soldier's scream turn to a horrifying gurgle as his throat is ripped out by an infected blah blah blah." basically saying what is going on around the characters. So yeah, think of me as a GM controlling the general environment around the characters while not injuring or killing them unless you post something like "I bayonet charge all 100 zombies and kill them all." In which case I will say "hahahaha, the zombies eat your face." for obvious reasons. Anyway, I will not do anything like that unless provoked, and will generally make anything I post to be vague or open for interpretation for the players.

Infected: The zombies are like the zombie in Left 4 Dead. They can run and body shots can kill them. However, they do not feel pain, and therefore will be harder to put down, as a gut shot that would incapacitate a human won't stop an infected. They transmit the infection through bites.

Rules
1) Be historically accurate. Don't say you miraculously have a M249 SAW and AK-74 because those didn't exist in 1943. You don't have to worry about being 100% accurate, because I won't be (Zombies aren't exactly historically accurate either).
2) Be respectful, kind, and courteous to other players.
3) Don't god mod. As I said, I will correct you, and that will usually mean losing a limb. No one can make a 2 km shot with a handgun, and no one can fight 50 zombies hand to hand without a scratch on them.
4) Only kill, seriously injure, or control other characters if you have permission from the player of that character to do so. Feel free to kill, injure, etc. infected or unnamed NPC's, but not characters.
6) Don't try to GM. That's my job.
5) I may add more rules later....so yeah...

Characters

All characters are expected to be soldiers in the combined operations or if not, be a brilliant character idea that would make a great story. It isn't very accurate, but I will allow female soldiers if needed. Anyway, fill out the following character sheet.

Name: What is the character named?
Ethnicity: What country are they from, and what military service, if any, are they a part of?
Rank / Specialty: What is the rank of the soldier? Keep it Lieutenant or lower, I don't want everyone being Captains and Majors. What is their specialty? Are they a Navy corpsman, an army sniper, an airborne trooper, some survivor who was a butcher, etc.
Age: You can figure this out.
Gender: Pretty obvious.
Appearance: A description of the character's physical appearance.
Personality: What is the character like? Do the have any mannerisms or quirks?
Background: How did he or she end up where they are now?
Skills: Are they a good shooter? doctor? leader? etc.
Weaknesses: Nobody is perfect, what is the character not so good at.
Other: Anything else you want to say?

That's all have to type right now. I will probably look at it again later when I'm not tired to make it sound less lazy....
