Hey guys, so I'm here to sell you on an adventure I've always wanted to go on. I don't really need a lot of participants, just two or three more would actually be very suitable for this roleplay and allow me, as the GM, to give you all the more love and attention. Some quick notes for this roleplay:

• No knowledge of the Hunter x Hunter franchise is necessary. This this roleplay takes place in an alternate but thematically similar universe. In fact...
• Worldbuilding is a big part of this adventure. I'd like us to collaborate in creating a very exotic and colorful world for our characters to inhabit. Due to the dangerous nature of the world, there may be very different levels of technology and civilisation.
• Although this roleplay features action, brute force is almost never the answer. One of the shining unique features of Hunter x Hunter is that they very rarely just power up DBZ-style or use friendship power to defeat their enemies. Many of the enemies they face are so overwhelmingly stronger than them that they have no way of powering up fast enough, instead they use their wits to avoid their enemies to accomplish their objectives, or set traps and make elaborate plans.
• The franchise does have one of the most balanced, versatile, and fun superpower systems. I did say brute force wasn't the answer, and it isn't even in straight fights. The idea of the superpowers in Hunter x Hunter, called Nen, is that your characters will train to creates their own special power that suits their style and creates various strategies with their power. It is quite complex so I'll leave the in-depth explanation for later, but the big key feature is that putting a limitation on your ability allows you to buff the ability in another way.
• Discord (or another IM system that we agree on) is necessary to participate. RP is a social activity, and I would also like real-time feedback and discussion on the roleplay and where the story goes.

Introduction to HxH

Hunter × Hunter is a fantasy adventure manga series drawn and written by Yoshihiro Togashi, who began working on the series in 1998. It's known for many things- its long hiatuses, its large and engrossing world, its colourful cast of surprisingly deep characters that often have as much screentime as the four heroes and a heaping helping of rather extreme darkness that can make it fairly grim for a shonen series.

TV Tropes

In this world, you see, there are elite mercenaries known as Hunters. And Hunters truly are elite: among other benefits, they get access to world-class amenities and exotic locales that are off-limits to ordinary people. Of course, the life of a Hunter is also dangerous, for Hunters make their living taking on some of the most dangerous missions on Earth. Some scour the world for treasures or exotic goods, while others are Bounty Hunters who track down the world's most dangerous criminals. Gon isn't so much interested in riches or fame, however: he wants to be a Hunter so he can track down his father.

TV Tropes

Hunters are literally the peak 0.0000001% of humanity. Becoming a Hunter requires passing a ridiculous and deadly exam, but passing the exam basically makes you set for life. You can even sell your License to collectors for enough to live comfortably, though most people who have the ability to become Hunters have the ability to easily become rich in other ways. Besides having countless free services available to them, in some places, Hunters are even above the law and their actions are only governed by the Hunter Association.

Here, I will give a bit of exposition on the world: The series takes place in a fantasy world that has mostly achieved modern technology; there are cell phones, computers, cars, etc., however at the same time that technology has only settled in a small parts of the known world where civilization is gathered around and only trickled a bit into the rest of the mostly rural or uncivilized world.

Major hindrances to the spread of civilization would have to be the dangerous and even supernatural flora and fauna that inhabits much of the world. This is not a plot point in the original franchise, but I will add in this roleplay there are many sleeping behemoths that exist in the world, and large movements of armies and such may awaken and enrage said behemoths; further hindering human expansion.

The way which civilization is scattered also means that half of these centers of civilization are also quite backwards by our standards, many major powers in the world are monarchies, dictatorships, and theocracies. The six greatest superpowers of the world are known as the V6 and convene regularly at a summit.

More lore unique to this roleplay: It has to be noted that the world is flat as far as we know. There are no poles, and the factors that decide on an area's climate are very obscure, similar to One Piece's Grand Line. Going to the extreme ends of the world will meet one with extreme danger. The few who have said to have passed the edge of the known world and gone beyond have never returned.

Last thing, I'll leave a bit on Nen. Nen is a power which is secret to the public. Even new Hunters do not know about it, and awakening your Nen is known as the secret Hunter Exam. It is a highly versatile power and I'm lazy so I'll leave you a link to the wiki: hunterxhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Nen

The Plot of this RP

The plot? Well, we're going to be Hunters. The very first arc of the roleplay will feature our characters going through the Hunter Exam. Being a Hunter then opens us up to a lot of possibilities, however, there is an underlying plot that I've been thinking about.

Every 800 years or so, 108 people known as the Stars of Destiny appear in this world. They range from leaders of countries to heroes to dastardly villains. Various myths exist around these 108 Stars, but it is generally agreed upon that these 108 people will shake up and change the power structure of the world. It is said that over 2000 years ago, they were the cause of the sinking of the supercontinent Atlantis which once existed where the Abyssal Sea is currently located.

The identity of these characters become known once they awaken their power to use Nen as a colored star (like the Joestar birthmark) will appear somewhere on their body. Our characters will be one of these 108 Stars.

Abilities: (List your character's talents and special skills that has the potential to put them at the peak 0.001% of humanity. I'd rather not have anyone be able to use Nen just yet. Nen is something most people learn after they become a Hunter, particularly since it's quite powerful.)

There existed plenty of children's tales about heroes arriving from other worlds, idle, preposterous fantasies that were unsuited to proper adults. Cecilia had a few memorised as the kids often enjoyed them. This scene almost seemed to come straight out of one of those tales. Regardless of whether the foreigner's claim of coming from another world was true or not, it certainly appeared that this mob was disoriented and perhaps needing of direction. However, Cecilia had no inclination to help strangers, her duty was solely to the Winterblooms. If a member of the family were to extend their grace, then it would be different.

"Perhaps we should get going now, Relfan Town is just ahead," said the maid. "Unless you really wish to take these into the carriage... It would be a rather tight fit."

She took stock of each of the foreigners. Certainly, if the men went to the front to squeeze beside the driver, they would be fine.

Cecilia creased her eyebrows slightly at the empty seat and open carriage door. Angelese was a noble and upright young lady of the Winterblooms, but she may be a little too headstrong in her youth. The sound outside really did not sound like someone in distress, but Angelese's excitement ignored that. No doubt the girl would mellow into wisdom eventually; Cecilia had watched over the growth of six generations of the Winterbloom family now and she could think back to each and every generation with pride.

"Wait here," she said to the carriage driver before chasing after her young protégée. Despite wearing a frilled dress and heeled boots, her speed far exceeded that of any ordinary human. Of course, the fully fledged Winterbloom Sword Saints could easily surpass her, she always looked forwards to when they did, but Cecilia managed to catch up to Angelese quite quickly. The young lady had not gone too far.

The reason she stopped was dead ahead. "Young miss," said Cecilia sternly. She considering stepping in front, but even though she worried about the strange scene before them, she decided Angelese was getting too old to be sheltered behind her servants. Her voice softened. "I have never seen their like, please exercise caution."

You can make it easy to navigate with the outline or table of contents, you can edit in real time with collaborators, you can let RPers make additions that you have to approve first, and you can make out of bound comments on various articles.

It can also be used for your GMs/Co-GMs planning sheet.

Personality

Cecilia has the powerful sense of duty and pride one might expect more so in a noble than a mere maid. This may make her excessively strict as the head maid of the Winterbloom household. Quite traditional and judgmental, Cecilia has expectations of everyone depending on their station, including expectations for our heroes arriving from another world. She never raises her voice, but rather delivers scathing remarks with an impassive face to those who fail to meet her expectations. Although, she disapproved strongly of the union between a noble and a maid, Angelese's determination to be an upstanding noble has won Cecilia over. To make up for the fact that she didn't give much attention to Angelese as a child, Cecilia has decided to become Angelese's personal maid to oversee Angelese's transition into an adult.

The fact that she is a maid makes it inappropriate for her to freely engage in conversation, and her cold demeanor dissuades others from approaching her. However, when given the chance, Cecilia can be quite cordial and talkative. Her long life with the Winterbloom family gives her a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes as conversation topics. She is used to how surprised people can be by how friendly and, well, normal she is in casual instances.

History

Cecilia's station in the Winterbloom household is a strange one. Although she is merely the head maid, the fact that she has personally raised each generation of the Winterbloom family, taught them their numbers and letters, and disciplined them as children means everyone has trauma a hard time going against her.

Seven generations ago, the head of the Winterbloom family, a Sword Saint, was tasked with dealing with the purported appearance of a vampire of the Rozenheim bloodline. Such an existence could pose a threat to the entire country, yet all he found was a young girl. There was no doubt she was a vampire, but rather than killing her, the Sword Saint decided to take her back home as a companion for his daughter. Cecilia was shocked by the warmth and welcome she got there. Eventually, she decided to become the guardian of the family and has served as a maid since.

Abilities

Cecilia has never sought to hone her abilities as a vampire despite possessing the blood of the strongest vampire nobility. Her true nature is only known to the Winterbloom family and select trusted servants. Due to the special characteristics of her bloodline, she only needs to drink a bit of blood every week to remain in top form.

• Level 100 Maid: Having served the Winterbloom family for generations, Cecilia has honed her housework skills to perfection. Her cooking is also top class; some nobles pay excessive visits to the Winterbloom estate just to taste her meals.
• Superhuman Physical Ability: Cecilia has five times the physical strength, speed, and stamina of a trained knight. If she actively fed, this number would probably rise.
• Unarmed Combat Mastery: As it is inappropriate for a maid to be carrying weapons, Cecilia decided to train in the art of unarmed combat. History has given her quite a few opportunities to show her skill in defending her master.
• Rosy Blood Requiem: The signature passive ability of the Rozenheim vampires. Cecilia's blood takes the form of thin rose petals that swirl around her in the air. Right now, she can only use the power to return the petals to her and heal herself for about 60% of the damage she sustained.
