Catching Rasha as he leapt toward him made him relax a bit more. The little bits of reassurance knowing that his minions were okay and that they weren’t afraid of him were helpful. Unfortunately, he couldn’t hold Rasha for long. Enasi gently set the cat down, sharing some of his energy to keep him calm as the nightmares aided Seishu. He was hesitant at first, but the purring from the cat minion let him know it was fine. He had nothing to say to the others besides, “be careful” so he turned to where Harper waited. Passing Crios, he started to rest his hand on the fox doctor’s shoulder but he paused and returned his hand to his side. “I suggest getting him as much energy as possible. Take him into a few dreams- well nightmares. I don’t want him home until he’s able to at least walk on his own.” Crios nodded in full understanding. After the damage Seishu took, it was best not to have him take on an entire realm of positive energy. “Thank you.” He whispered before walking off to stand beside Harper and the plant siblings.

The guardian continued to glance over at the prisoners, more worried than he was upset. Sure he was furious with their decisions, but he was still terrified they were hurt. Finn quietly held the guardian’s hand, obviously spotting the worry easily. He said nothing, simply offering a small smile to Enasi before they all walked through the portal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rue, similar to his guardian, blubbered barely coherent words of how worried he was and how scared he was and how Lord Enasi had started acting stranger and stranger. After sometime, he finally managed to calm down and relax, still hugging Seishu.
“How are you feeling?” Rasha mumbled as he nuzzled closer to Seishu. The nightmare minions, still rather confused by the display mentally debate if they should be okay with it or even a tad jealous. After all, the dream minions had the fortune of seeing their guardian everyday. Instead of any confrontation about it, they waited quietly and watched.
As Crios treated Seishu, he began to speak. His eyes were still trained on the spots he had been treating. “Lord Enasi believes it’s best you get as much energy as possible. Well, he doesn’t want you back home- our home that is, until you’ve done so.” He began to clean the materials he had and put them away. “I think you should as well. After all the positive energy you’ve had, it’s better to be sure.” He glanced in the direction of the nightmare minions. “I suggest going with them. Finding a few dreams to...taint and such. Whatever you nightmares do.” He gave a small smile as he noticed the life finally finding its way back into Seishu. “Besides, they were worried sick. I’m sure they want your attention and Rasha and Rue are stealing that.” He teased and then stood up.
He had done the best he could. He nodded to Kaila, indicating that he was done and then stood back to watch what Seishu planned to do next.
~~~~~~~~~

Prison bars closed and plant vines slithered back towards Starla before disappearing completely. “Thank you. You two can take a break for now. Though when you’re done, I’d like you to go back out and see if things have changed- well, gone back to normal. See if we remain unseen.” The siblings looked at each other, both immediately deciding to do the work first, and then saluted their guardian. Right after, they darted off. Enasi then looked over at Harper, who had still been glaring daggers at the prisoners. When he heard the guardian step forward, he relaxed a little and stepped back. “You can go check on the realm or check on Seishu. It’s your choice.”

The rabbit wondered what the guardian had planned, but simply bowed. “Of course sir. I’ll check on our own. I’m sure Night has enough people in his face.”

Soon enough, it was Enasi and the prisoners left in the cell. For a long moment, he could only stare at them with sad eyes, trying to figure out just why they didn’t understand the consequences of their actions. He sighed and walked into the cell, making the five stiffen. Their reaction threaten to sadden him again, but he steels himself and gets close to each one, healing them. “I apologize for my own behavior. It wasn’t natural and I could have harmed you all. However, your actions would have caused greater damage if I did nothing…” His voice trailed off as he bent down in front of Fuan. She was the most terrified, having seen the shocking murderous intent in her guardian’s eyes. He healed her as well, but took the antler she was cradling away. Reaching up, he touched her antler that was still intact. A light glow circled near the bottom of it and the antler fell off.

Fuan’s eyes widened as her second antler was taken from her. “You don’t deserve these. Not until you understand- not until you all understand what you’ve nearly caused.” He went back to each of them, taking something important from them whether it was physical or simply their status. He heaved a sigh again and paced back and forth. The prisoners said nothing.

“Since you don’t seem to realize it, I’ll explain it again.” He continued to pace as he explained the Balance between the Dreams and Nightmares, going further to explain how if one fell so would the other. He explained the dangerous of being seen by humans. All of it took well over an hour as the guardian made sure they understood. A few times, one or the other wanted to protest and tell him that it couldn’t have been true, but the guardian raised his hand to silence them. “You’re going to be here for awhile. It’ll give you time to think about that. I’m disappointed in you all. We spread positive energy and you were no better than the ‘monsters’ you were trying to get rid of. I expect better from you all.” He turned away, locking the cell door behind him.

A guard met him at the door and gave a slightly worried expression. “Are you alright sir?”

Enasi nodded. “I’m fine, just a little tired.” He smiled gently and then walked off. The items he took were all placed in Crios’ office since all of them had been doctors, save for Haru. But it didn’t matter too much. He wandered past the room he was designated to for treatment and went into his own room. He hadn’t been there in awhile, but by the looks of it everything was still as he left it. Even the black flower given to him by Seishu was in tact. He didn’t realize just how much the prior events tired him until he collapsed in his bed. The searching, the worry and panic, the fighting and angry energy had finally started taking a toll. It wasn’t just physically exhausting, but mentally and emotionally too. The deep red sheets encompassed him in such a welcoming manner. Not even trying to climb onto the bed fully, he simply pulled one of the closest pillows and pushed it under him. ’It won’t hurt. . .to just rest for a little while. . .’

Finn and Starla had returned to Earth, where the others were still standing around. They received a few confused looks, wondering what they were doing. “Lord Enasi wants us to check and make sure that things are falling back into place. If things are ‘normal’ again.”

Finn nodded and then further clarified. “He asked Starla and I to make sure we couldn’t be seen by humans now. Now that Seishu is better, hopefully the Balance isn’t being tipped too far.”
The sudden weight on him made Aoba's eyes pop open in surprise. Seeing Dani, he huffed and let the small demon poke at his face. He doesn't even object when Dani practically moved him like a ragdoll in order to hug him. It was somewhat comforting. Somewhat. At least Aoba wasn't quaking in fear anymore. He was sure his nerves were probably bad now or something. There was no way he could be 'normal' after such life threatening experiences. Laying down for awhile sounded like a good idea. . .Maybe even finding something to make him productive, like feeding the animals. Anything to get him distracted, or to calm him down. Those particular ideas made Aoba look towards the house, ready to do just that until Issho and Kuro began to walk out into the field. Aoba scooted closer to Dani, feeling much safer next to him than near Issho, which gave the demon ample opportunity to hug him more. He was definitely happy about it.

“Where are they going?” Aoba’s voice was barely above a whisper. He wasn’t happy with the answer. Not at all. The two brothers were going to fight? That couldn’t possibly be good. His eyes widened a little when Dani declared that he would be getting Homura to take care of him. ’This isn’t good. . .’ In moments, Kyou was holding tight to his arm and Dani had disappeared through a portal. He didn’t move from under the tree, using it as some form of false protection. For some reason however, Kyouku’s fears seemed to calm Aoba a little more. It was nice to know that he wasn’t the only one fearing for his life. It was even possible that Kyou was a little more terrified than he was- which Aoba wasn’t aware possible until recently.

Both demon and angel watched with wide eyes as weapons were drawn and wings were extended. He had never seen anything like them. As fascinating as it was terrifying, Aoba sat with Kyou, using his free hand to gently pat Kyou’s arm, keeping his eyes glued to what was happening in front of him. There’s no doubt that both are intimidated and in fear, nevertheless, Aoba focused on comforting the demon beside him at least enough to stop him from shaking. Technically, Aoba is safe from the dangers of being attacked- so he realized, so now he was just fearful of the fight that was about to take place. “Oh no, he just got his wing healed.” He knew pleas of being careful wouldn’t cut it this time. All Aoba could do was hope Homura would be able to help him and hope his older brother didn’t hurt him too bad.

~~~~~~
Fenrir watched with awe and fascination at the display between the spawns of Satan. He had never seen anything like it before. In a way, both demons displayed elegance and grace with their mere stances. It was definitely odd to think of the demons anything more than brutish and evil. In fact, it was even more odd that Fenrir was starting to feel sympathy for Kuro. . ? “I couldn’t possibly be worried. He’s a demon. . .” That line wasn’t getting any more convincing than the many times he said it before. Attempting to distract himself from the thoughts, he adjusted in order to check on Aoba. A small, proud smile formed when he noticed that despite his own fear Aoba still managed to try and help the demon next to him. ’He cares so much. . .Why didn’t anyone see this before?’ It again makes him a mix of sad and guilty to know that he was a part of the problem, ignoring the young angel even when he was so polite and did nothing wrong. ’He’s what many of us should aspire to be like. Truly pure of heart.’
Hiro silently followed Akito back to the horse. He had wondered where the creature wandered off to, but didn’t worry too much about it. It was obvious it was a palace horse, and Akito wasn’t bothered about it so there was no reason to. Spotting the children around the horse made him laugh softly; a little more when Akito had to shoo them away. Once he was aided onto the horse, he looked around one final time. “This was nice.” He smiled and got comfortable where he was sitting, “Thank you Akito.” His thanks was followed by a small nod and soon enough they were off.
The prince was pretty silent for most of the trip, wondering when they’d be able to visit again along with how his parents would react when he returned. However, the latter wasn’t too interesting of a thought. The trip was fairly uneventful and it took a moment for Hiro to recognize the path they had taken. Coming into view of the entrance of the palace, guards were quickly at the ready to help Hiro (and Akito if he wanted it) off the horse and take it to the stables. He nodded towards the soldier guard that helped him and then bowed.
“Well Akito. Back home!” He slipped his hands behind his back and chuckled. “I suggest disappearing now before you’re roped into long conversations with my parents.” He gave a low whistle as he walked towards the doors. “Unless of course you’re into those long talks.” Thinking a little longer about it, he figured it would be impolite to just leave Akito alone. That, and if he did the soldier might have ran away again. “Come on.” Just before he made it to the palace steps, he turned right, following along another path. “We’ll go another way. Maybe through the gardens.” He began to walk backwards in order to face Akito. “You’ll be able to find your room this way as well. Also, closer to the room I showed you with the people playing board games.” He informed. “Hm. That’s not a bad idea actually.” He wasn’t the best at shogi, but he did know how to play. Maybe he could practice since he hadn’t done so in a while.
During the walk, he paused to look at a few new growing flowers that the gardeners added. In one particular section, a color scheme was beginning to become more noticeable. Hiro wondered if that was his mother’s doing for the wedding, but he didn’t question it. It was making her happy, so there was no need to complain. And even if he wanted to complain about the wedding, it would have been a futile effort.
Aoba wondered if there were any other types of wings he didn't know about. The only ones he had ever saw were the larger ones used for flying. He was intrigued that they still flapped and twitched like normal wings. They were basically a decoration. Hearing Kyou's question made the fallen angel pause, look down, and rub his wrist where the bracelet had been. "Yeah, the priest took it and threw it away. . .but I think Kuro found it." He remembered seeing just how Kuro created his charms, making him shudder slightly. He could have done without that knowledge. "Yes, I found out when I tried going into the church. It burned me." Aoba hoped the answer would suffice for Kyou, however even if it didn't the lesser demon was sent skittering off- never too far though.
"I'm glad you're back in one piece. Not so glad that you have to go causing more damage to yourself after you've healed though." He laughed softly, knowing there was little he could do about that. It was in their demonic nature to fight and play rough. The soft jingle made him glance downwards to spot the aforementioned charm bracelet. Before he can even say anything, Kuro apologizes and relays his excuses to him. For moments, Aoba stared at the bracelet, examining the new charms on them. 'It's to keep me safe. . .' Somehow, he came to terms with the idea and nodded. "Yes, of course." He hugged Kuro and laughed gently when he realized Kuro wasn't going relax his arms and let him escape. So, he leaned against him and relaxed, not seeming to mind the stares from Kyou and Dani, the latter being more annoyed about the odd displays.
They stayed in that position for some time. Aoba couldn't help but feel happy that he had came back. Of course, he couldn't help the guilt of not staying with the priest after he worked so hard. His mind wandered over gifts he could possibly give him in hopes to reconcile their...differences. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too angry with him. The thoughts were derailed by the sudden shift in energy. It made Aoba pull away from Kuro rather quickly. The extended week of not being around demons caused the sudden wave of demonic energy, mixed with closer demons' energies to make Aoba's head spin. He grimaced and groaned gently, putting his head in his lap. "What was that for?" He whined softly and waited for everything to stop spinning around him.
A cold chill went down his spine. 'Why is there a third-' Aoba sat up quickly only to end up staring at another demon in front of them. Normally, his protectors would have jumped to attack but neither moved. That could only mean they knew this demon. 'Another sibling. . ?' This didn't stop the growing fear in the angel. There was something about this particular demon that made him more uneasy than normal. The gaze alone made Aoba look down at his lap as if he was a scolded child. His wings were pulled tighter to him and he was tense, very much ready to make a mad dash away from him. Unfortunately, Kuro prevented that by holding him still. The silence and staring was unnerving. He wanted to hide. He wanted to go inside. Why wouldn't Kuro let him?!
Dani bristled but stayed in one spot. He was smart enough not to do something so stupid as attacking his eldest brother. Kyou tried shrinking and making himself as unnoticeable as possible. Aoba ended up looking at the eldest brother, flinching gently when he realized he was being examined. He felt now if he moved it’d be much too late and he’d be attacked. He wasn’t very statue-esque as much as he was fidgeting in fear. He was tempted to nudge Kuro forward and say something, but he was much too afraid to do that.
Fuan's cries and pleas fell on deaf ears. Enasi didn't bother listening to her. Not after the multitude of times he explained that Seishu was not to be killed. The Balance they were trying to create was chaos. They'd end up hurting everyone because of their foolishness. The only way that could be prevented was if they were removed. The less problems created, the better the harmony would have been. That sounded like it would work. It would save a lot of time rather than scolding and punishing all of them. That sounded like the best option.
“You-”
Hearing the voice behind him made him whirl around, his grip on the doctor never loosening. He glared, ready to snap at whoever dared to get close. Because his eyes weren’t on Fuan, those tendrils of energy pointed at her. She didn’t dare to move. Seeing Seishu made him pause, his glare turning into a frown. His voice held a sudden sense of familiarity and warmth, but it began to fade soon after. At first, his energy still lashed and his fangs were still bared. ’No, they deserve to be punished. They were bad. They are ruining things. They deserve to be removed. . .Don’t they?’ His narrowed eyes turned to Fuan. She was still quaking and pleading, begging him to reconsider. She was. . .afraid. Afraid of him.
The others watched as realization began to creep onto Enasi’s expression. His gaze pointed to the needle now directed at Fuan and then at his hand, gripping the collar of her hood. Slowly, his eyes widened and the needle shattered at her side. He stepped away from Fuan, tendrils fading as he did. The deer woman slid to the ground and curled up in tears. ’Oh no. . . W-What have I done. . .’ He hesitated, thinking to reach out to Fuan and comfort her but he couldn’t. Not after that.
Harper stared as the guardian broke away from the doctor, the building terror of what could have happened obvious on his face. As if reading his thoughts, Harper spoke. His voice was soft as he didn’t want to startle the guardian more than he already looked. “She’s okay. Just shaken up. You didn’t,” Harper carefully worded his phrase, not wanting to upset Enasi even further. “cause any physical damage. I- we all know you wouldn’t hurt your minions.” He didn’t move from his spot. Harper wanted the guardian to snap out of things, but there was still the chance he could have lashed out. The rabbit’s ears twitched when Enasi started to speak but lost the words to say. “We know you love us all. We trust you.” It was hard to be convincing with five of his minions staring at him in fear. “It’s okay. We were here to rescue Lord Seishu. . . remember?” Harper nodded in Seishu’s direction, making the guardian slowly turn back around.
“S-Seishu. . ?” Enasi stared at the injured guardian in front of him. Of course he couldn’t steel his resolve about what had just happened. However Enasi refused to make any of the situation about him and his actions. Harper was right. They had come here to rescue Seishu and that’s what they did. If he hadn’t stopped them, things could have been worse.
Enasi closed the distance between them and hugged Seishu as tight as he could, trying to be as gentle as possible as well.. The guardian was in tears before he could even reach Seishu. “I was so worried. I didn’t know what to think. I’m so, so, so sorry. If I knew I would have- I- I didn’t even think to assume my own minions would do something so dangerous, so horrible! I should have paid more attention.” He continued rambling and pouring his heart out. Most of it had been him blaming himself and his worries, especially when he noticed the symbol on his hand fading. He didn’t want to mention that he had slowly started to feel the pain he had, but he was talking faster than he could think.
Despite not wanting to let Seishu go, he did and began rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand, slowly containing himself again. “We need to get out of here. . .We have to tend to your injuries.”
“Lord Enasi,” Harper started. When the guardian looked over at him he continued. “what do you want me to do about them?” All five of them were gathered and contained by the two sibling pairs. A sharp pang of guilt hit Enasi as he looked at the five. The idea of his minions losing all trust in him and seeing him as they looked at the nightmares threatened to shatter his heart.
“Put them away where they were before. I-. . . I will deal with them later. For now, make sure they don’t escape. And make sure they’re okay.” The last part was mumbled out. Before his gaze could fall to the floor, he looked at Seishu and allowed him to steady himself in order to move. As much as he wanted to stay by Seishu’s side, he gently called Kaila and Jentou over. The guardian needed as much negative energy as he could manage. They were probably going to need to take stops into a few nightmares to be sure Seishu was stronger. Crios would be able to help too. It eased him a little, knowing how much help Seishu would be able to get and rather quickly as well.
Hiro looked between the general, his steward, and Akito. He didn’t have a part in their plans. All he had to do was get on the horse and let the steward take him to their carriage, and then they’d be off home. He stayed quiet, watching as their facial expressions changed over and over. He would have questioned it a bit further, but he deemed that it wasn’t all that important anyway. Upon seeing the horse nice and ready to go, Hiro had straightened up, prepared to be given a boost onto the horse. The expectation was short lived. Swift as ever, Akito hopped onto the horse and Hiro was suddenly pulled along with him. “Whoa.” He wasn’t sure whether to be surprised towards how easily he was lifted off the ground or just how fluidly Akito moved the both of them. Then again, he shouldn’t have been too surprised. Akito was a soldier. Despite looking devilishly cute and scared of many, many things his betrothed was trained in fighting and as traditions foretold it, the best of the best. There were plenty of things Akito could do that Hiro wasn’t aware of.
’Back at the palace?’ “We will- oh.” The sudden run made him jerk backwards. Reaching for the horse’s mane, he paused when he felt the hand around his waist. Hiro had half a mind to thank him for the ‘save’, but instead gave a small nod before straightening up. He adjusted in order to get comfortable, holding the horse’s mane lightly. He could have held the reigns, but he didn’t want to accidentally pull them or do something he shouldn’t have. It made him remember a time when he was younger. His father took him a few times riding a horse around the large fields of their palace- a simpler and easier time, Hiro remembered. He had never actually learned, but it was fun nonetheless. Now wasn’t so different. He was just taller and knew how not to fall off.
The whistles made the prince turn his head. ’What are the soldiers doing?’ Recognizing their facial expressions and cheers, it clicked. In fact, it made Hiro give out a short laugh. “Ha, very encouraging bunch.” He didn’t speak directly to Akito, more like speaking aloud to himself. First they had given Hiro rather suspicious and unfriendly gazes, thinking he had done Akito wrong and now they were cheering for the soldier as if he had done something utterly fantastic. . .Or was about to do? Taking a quick glance at Akito made it clear that the soldier didn’t have any of those intentions in mind. He was just taking them. . .Not to the palace?
Hiro remembered the carriage being to the right, meaning the palace would have been that way too. However, Akito went left. His curious gaze turned towards the approaching village. He wasn’t going to stop Hiro from leading the way. ’Where would i like to go?’ This was a spur of the moment action. Hiro hadn’t been prepared to suddenly be going to the village. Looking around, Hiro took in the sights he could see. It was smaller than he remembered. Maybe it was because he was closer and had actually stopped to see. There were a few women, young and old, mingling with each other and weaving clothes? blankets? Hiro’s gaze went to the colorful fabrics hanging above their heads. “Oh, how nice. . .”
Realizing he hadn’t answered Akito’s question, Hiro looked over at him with a small shrug. “I’m not sure. What do the. . .people do around here all day? Surely they have something interesting in around here?”
~~~~~~~~~~

Hiro is quiet at first, and Akito worries that the prince isn't liking his 'gift' at all, but then he notices the man looking around with a fascinated expression on his face and he relaxes a bit, giving his betrothed time to adjust to the new surroundings. The village is peaceful enough, raised voices only here, and there, and always in a joyous or concerned note. As they enter many faces turn up to see who it is riding through their small town, and at first most simply dismiss the sight as another soldier passing through. However, as they move along, Hiro's presence seems to draw more and more attention until at last the place is all abuzz.

Akito keeps an eye on all of these watching faces, looking for anything out of place in his state of constant vigilance, but his attention turned to the man in front of him as he finally speaks up. With a small smile he lets out a half sigh as he goes back to looking at the people.”Most of them work most of the day, some are in apprenticeships, the children even have tasks they need to complete, but I suppose there will be one thing or another to actually do around here besides work. . .” Slipping from the horse he leads it forward a few steps before catching the attention of a woman and speaking with her quietly. Once he's gotten the information he wants he turns and holds out a hand to help Hiro down from the horse. “There's a game going on across the way, but it would be better if we go one foot, to avoid drawing any more attention.” While Hiro may be used to being stared at wherever he goes, it's clear all the eyes on him is not something Akito enjoys.

~~~~~~~~
The loud whispers, the staring eyes, and even a few excited gasps did little to deter Hiro. He simply gazed around nodding to some and waving to others. He was used to the attention and the gawking, after all, he was a prince. Hearing about the constant working life made him frown a little in disappointment. They had to have had some sort of hobby to keep themselves occupied or entertained. They couldn’t possibly have slaved away doing work. . .Even the servants got breaks! Well, that’s what he assumed. The disappointment didn’t last much longer when Akito managed to come up with some idea.
A few people started to come out of their small homes in order to see if the news was true. They all wondered the same things. They questioned why the prince was in the village or at least not with his family and even who the soldier was, but none came too close and bombarded him.
“A game?” Hiro echoed, keeping his hand in Akito’s after he got off the horse. With a soft giggle, Hiro squeezed Akito’s hand gently. “Ah, they don’t normally do anything. They’ll only watch, maybe yell out a few things, but usually their fine. But about this game.” He looked around, expecting the answer to jump out in front of him. Only seeing more of the houses, made him even more curious in more ways than one. “How do people live in such tiny places. . ?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Akito remains uncomfortable looking even as Hiro explains that this is “normal”, but he takes a slight comfort in the little squeeze as they make their way down the street. Raising an eyebrow at the man's question he wonders if he's joking or not for a moment before deciding to answer seriously. “Well, they can't afford any better, and honestly each house has everything needed for surviving, and even a little room for living. It has all the needs, with very little of the wants, but in a town like this there is such little want since it's too peaceful people are content with having their needs covered for the safety they get from being so close to the palace.”

Slipping between two houses he makes shooing motions at a few kids that had stopped in their way to gawk and with giggles the two run around behind the prince and his betrothed and begin seeing who's brave enough to get close enough to the prince to touch his kimono. It's an old game he's seen many times so despite the constant giggling and squealing, Akito pays them no mind. Instead he carefully direct Hiro through the area until they can hear voices in the distance. This is when he finally decides to talk about the game they are going to watch.

“The game is an old past time for farming and other small villages like this. Anyone can play, and the rules are rather loose, but basically, without using your hands, you're trying to get a ball into a basket laid on it's side on the ground.” Coming out from between two houses the field comes into view, the spectators sitting in the grass around the area, cheering and occasionally swapping places with one of the players when they decide to take a break or they have to get back to work. Akito slowly moves them into a front position and settles down in the grass, pulling Hiro down to sit between his knees as the space up front is limited and he doesn't want to seem rude. Focused now on watching the game, and those in the surrounding area, he doesn't even seem to notice how close he now is to the young prince.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prince doesn’t respond to Akito’s answer about the homes. It just gives him something new to think about. He knew not everyone could own their own palace, but being so close to the houses he realized just how small they were. If they were as peaceful as Akito said they were then good for them.
Hiro laughed lightly and waved as the kids surrounding them were shooed away by Akito, only for them all to hover behind him. He glanced over his shoulder, making the kids freeze up- one closer to him than the kids. Hiro playfully stuck his tongue at the kids and then hurried behind his betrothed until they came into a clearer area. There’s nothing special about the field in front of them and yet there are several people sitting around and cheering the ones running back and forth. Hiro sat down with Akito, not minding the small space between the two. The prince began to analyze just what was going on. There were two groups trying to get the ball into opposite goals.
A few of the patrons watching the game had noticed Hiro, getting even more excited for the simple game when he began to cheer along as each team scored. “Hm, how do you know if they win? Does anyone keep count of the goals?” Sometime while he was cheering them on, he had leaned against Akito for support. When he asked a question, he looked up at Akito, however a person in earshot decided to answer cheerfully.
“The game is just for fun! There’s no winner or loser. If there was, it would take away from the whole purpose of playing!”
“Oh? What’s the purpose then?”
“To have fun and spend time with each other.”
Hiro slowly nodded, leaning against Akito again as he watched the game. ’Huh, so when they don’t work, they spend time playing games with each other. And he assumed they were all strangers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

The game is rather fast paced, seemingly mainly populated by the young men and teens of the village at the moment, and despite the competitive nature of it all, still rather friendly. While initially not even thinking about it, when Hiro leans into him Akito can't help the faint flush that rises in his cheeks. After a few minutes however he manages to relax, resting his hands on his knees and turning his attention once more to the game. He smiles as his betrothed cheers and seems to be enjoying himself, and is about to answer when he asks about the game, but his smile widens a little bit further when a villager nearby decides to do so first.

'It's nice to see him around the people. I've seen some royals who would insist on some sort of special treatment in something like this, but instead he just accepts that he is here, with other people, and does things the way they do' Letting out a sigh he relaxes this time when Hiro settles against him, simply enjoying the peace of not having to think for a while. However, after a particularly bad fall that leaves a player to scoot to the sidelines, Akito decides to stop spectating. “Wait here for a bit will you?” he asks softly, gently pulling himself away from the prince and standing.

Pulling his blade, and sheath, from his waist, he hands it off to Hiro, laying it across his lap with a nervous smile. Letting out a little click he watches as Hoko slithers out from his clothing and settles down beneath his blade on Hiro's now crossed legs. With a nod he turns, loosening his top, then pulling it from his shoulders before taking to the field. Many are excited to see what this soldier with their prince can do, and in no time, the game takes off.

The fall of one of the players made Hiro wince. It looked like it hurt. The player on the other hand managed to scoot to the sidelines in order for a break. He cheered along with the others as the player managed to hold his own. “Oh? Okay?” Hiro sat up, wondering where Akito was planning to go. When he was handed the sword, he let it rest in his lap smiling when he realized just what the soldier planned to do. “Oh yeah, I keep forgetting you’re around.” He gently scratched the top of Hoko’s head before focusing on the game.

He found it rather intriguing that Akito was accepted into the game as a regular person. Most of the time, soldiers and royals were treated with much more...well very differently. Here, no one seemed to mind the trained soldier taking part of the simple game. It made Hiro laugh softly. “Whoo! Go Akito!” He cheered even louder for the soldier, causing the others to get even more riled up about the game.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Akito's presence changes the tide and tone of the game as he races around the field, caught up in the “fun”. Spotting a skilled player on the field many of the older young men call for the younger players to tag out, and once the field is once more at the right number of players the play resumes. The play is intense, Akito occasionally having a hard time of it as the people who actually play on a regular basis trip him up with tricks and tactics, but with his command of the side he joined the game remains fairly balanced. His ears turn a little pink as he hears Hiro cheering for him, however he remains focused, not letting his shyness around the man get the better of him in the intense match.
His time on the field is barely twenty minutes, and after a particularly spectacular smash into the basket that sent it skidding across the ground a few feet – the sight of it sending a huge roaring cheer through the spectators – Akito feels that he's had quite enough “fun” and waves himself off the field to loud cheering. Kneeling beside the man he is to marry he nods, a bit covered in sweat, and motions towards the outside of the field. “I need to go clean up a bit. You are free to stay and watch if you like.” Reaching out he gently takes his sword, standing up and waiting to see what the prince wants to do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hiro cheered with the crowd when the round ended. A few people had hovered a little closer to him, but he didn’t mind- or notice it that much. Looking up at Akito he smiles planning to congratulate him, but looked over in the direction Akito pointed. With a slight wave of his hand Hiro shrugged. “It’s okay, I’ll stay here and keep watching. You can go get cleaned up.” The prince thought about following him, but watching them play was a lot more interesting. That and Akito looked fairly calm as it was, there was no need to get him all flustered, even if it was by accident.

As Akito walked off, he looked down at the furry creature still in his lap. “Oh, you forgot-” Well, he didn’t mind watching Hoko. It couldn’t have been so bad, and he was trained. As the soldier left, he found himself crowded by a few of the people. Compliments, questions, and statements of all kind riled around as the groups took a brief intermission for water. “I- uh..?”

One of the elders chuckled and whistled. “Give the poor boy some room! You can’t expect him to answer anything with you all crowding him like hungry animals.” They all laughed and scooted back, some apologizing. “I brought snacks for some of the kids, but I was wondering if you wanted any your highness?”

Hiro blinked and looked at the basket the woman held in her hand. She was awfully generous. “Oh, no. I couldn’t take your things. I’m okay. Really.” He decided not to mention that there was probably food in the palace he could have eaten too.

“Nonsense! It’s an offering. I don’t mind at all. Besides, if you wait too long it’ll be long gone.”

“Oh- well, okay. If you insist.” He decided to take one of the muffins in the basket. Compared to the other things in the basket, he didn’t eat muffins very often. “Oh, wow. This is really good!” The woman bowed and smiled then went to go let the others take their share.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
With a nod he walks off towards the outer edge of the crowd, pausing only briefly at the sudden rush of people around his intended. He manages to keep his hand from the handle of his blade, but he can still feel the need to go over and shoo the people away. 'It's not that I think they are going to hurt him, I simply worry whenever I lose sight of my target' He shakes his head, trying to remove that word from any association to the man he's suppose to marry, and in the end it isn't until he shoves his face in a barrel of water than he feels himself returning to normal. Using the water on his now soaked torso he scrubs himself a bit, turning to watch the prince as he interacts with the villagers. The elder seems to be keeping things in hand, but with all the noise Akito's unable to hear what exactly is going on between the royal and his people.
One of the girls from the crowd offers him a towel and for the first time he notices a few people actually shuffling around him, obviously wanting to talk to him. His flush returns slightly and he smiles at them, drying off with the proffered towel. The girl who handed it to him asks, her cheeks bright red, “A-are you the p-prince's betrothed?”
Trying not to match her shade of pink he nods, a wave of giggles following the action. One of the young men in the group claps his hands. “You are so lucky! He seems really nice!” Once again Akito does his best to leave some blood for the rest of his body as he nods.
“Yeah, I g-guess I a-am lucky. . .” he murmurs softly, earning more giggles and stares. Waving his hand to clear some of them away to make a path back to the prince. Some of the boys and girls squeal with delight, following him back like a clicking pack of fans who can't get enough of him. By the time he's back at Hiro's side they've dispersed a bit, and the game is back on. Without a word he takes up the position he had before behind the taller man and watches the game resume from over his shoulder. Reaching around he scratches Hoko's head, making the audrat yawn and squeak, settling his head on Hiro's knee so he can sleep. In a soft voice the soldier whispers, “Maybe we can come out here some time in some more. . . .Suitable clothing and you can try your hand at the game. . . .”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

It didn’t take too long for Akito to return, and when he did it appeared as though he had fans as well. When the soldier was close enough, Hiro smiled. “A fan favorite now?” He got comfortable in front of him again, watching as the people began to form new teams. They made sure everyone had a turn to play. Hearing the remark from Akito made Hiro laugh. “Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be any good at this kind of game. It’s fun to watch though.” He decided to save himself from the potential embarrassment. He already attracted way too much attention as it was. There was no need to make his presence even more noticeable. That and he was never that physical in the first place. . .

“Oh!” He reached up, holding the remaining half of his muffin up. “Try it. The woman. . .ah, over there. She made them. They taste really good.” He turned to the side in order to properly hand it to him, although he had gotten a much better idea. Instead of handing it to him, he raised it to Akito’s lips and smiled as innocently as Hiro could get. “Here, taste it?” Sure he was probably drawing attention to the two, but most of them were focused on the game still.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Still bright red from the line about being a 'fan favorite' Akito barely manages a little shake of his head when the prince claims he'll never be any good at the game. “It's easy to learn, and different people are at different levels. You don't have to be good to play, you just have to have fun. . .'
He speaks softly, trying to not draw too much attention, however moments later Hiro seems to go out of his way to do exactly that. He'd been ready to take the muffin – it did smell good after all – but before he has time to shift so he can grab it Hiro is holding it on front of his mouth, obviously trying to feed it to him like a cute couple sharing a slice of pie in public.
Turning pure scarlet he listens to those around them whispering and giggling, a few of the older men and woman laughing fondly at the “cute couple” as they watch the obviously mostly one-sided display of affection. Biting his lip for a moment Akito looks at the muffin like it wants to burn his face off before murmuring, “Thanks” and taking a small bite. The action sends a ripple of giggles and squealing through the crowd directly around them and before he can object Akito wraps his arms around Hiro in such a way that he's facing forward once more, and the soldier is able to hide his face against his back. He really, really wants to run and hide from all this, but with the prince as his ward at the moment, he simply can not leave the man alone. His embarrassment only doubles as he realizes that he's using the prince as a human shield for his shame, and that not only is this making everyone giggle harder – drawing more attention – but also that Hiro may not appreciate the gesture.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just as he expected, Akito turned various shades darker. He still took a bite of the muffin, which Hiro was surprised he wasn’t too embarrassed to do. What he hadn’t expected was to be turned around so suddenly and used as a shield. The prince blinked and ate the rest of the muffin. “You know,” He paused to finish the food in his mouth. “we’re going to have to work on your shyness.” He didn’t sound upset, and he wasn’t. It was just a bit odd to see a- no the top shoulder so ‘defeated’ against the stares of regular people.

Wiggling out of his grasp, Hiro faces his betrothed. With a calm expression on his face, he doesn’t hesitate to cup the soldier’s face to look him in the eyes. “Relaaaax. You were doing so well earlier.” He smiled reassuringly. “The worst you can get here is probably a jealous gaze from the people. Nothing more. Besides, by the sounds of it, they think we’re cute.” The position they were in didn’t help that very much either. With a slight tilt of his head, he spoke again. “Do you want to go? You know, where there’s less staring and giggling?”

~~~~~~~~~~~
Letting out a pathetic whine he squeezes the man a little tighter but nods. He knows he needs to work on his shyness, but for now he's content with hiding. Unfortunately, his betrothed has other ideas. His hands fall to his knees as Hiro pulls away where they grip the fabric covered appendages so tight the knuckles turn white. His panic only rises at the young man holds his face in a way that he's unaccustomed to, and which is normally reserved for people who are really close from what he's observed. He tries not to let it show, but it's clear from some of the odd looks he's receiving that he's doing a poor job of it. The pity in some of their eyes for his plight seems to be tinged with real worry and he can't help but notice these looks as his eyes wander everywhere to avoid looking at Hiro directly.
He wants desperately to explain that it doesn't matter what they are thinking, it's just the fact that there are eyes on him that he finds troublesome. He spent most of his life alone, only with others besides his fellow soldiers when ordered to, and then he always had his father with him who'd always got more of the attention. And while it's true, most here are looking at the prince and not the extremely awkward soldier, there are enough of them gazing at him with pitying eyes that he feels ready to pop under all the scrutiny. It isn't until Hiro suggests that they can leave that sense returns to him and he realizes he's being rather selfish. 'I did all this for him after all, and here I am ruining the experience for him. I can put up with some eyes. He spends so much time cooped up, I. . . .I can't just take that away. . . .'
Taking a deep breath he gently removes the prince's hands from his face and gives him a strained smile. “What I really want is for you to enjoy your time away from the palace.” Looking back at the game he sees a fairly good player running the ball down the field and he manages to smile a little more honestly. Looking back at Hiro he does his best to speak softly and clearly. “Just, give me time to adjust, and stop drawing so much attention, and. . . .And I'll be fine. If you want to go, we will, if not, please just sit back down and let me calm myself down and enjoy the game with you?”
~~~~~~~~~~

Hiro’s hands went back into his lap and instead of responding, the prince simply nodded. His interest in the game hadn’t dulled quite yet so he turned back around to watch. ’What an odd soldier. . .’ He was once again invested into the sport, letting Akito do whatever it was that calmed him.

A full round had gone past before Hiro stretched. “Alright, we should go and find something else around here.” There was also the option of going home, but he decided to let Akito pick when that would be. Instead of waiting for Akito to find out about other things going on, as Hiro assumed he would, he started going back the way they came. They’d probably be able to find a lot more if they explored the village. Few littered the streets, many doing double takes when they realized just who was wandering the village like a tourist.

“I don’t see why I can’t come down here. Everything seems so quiet and peaceful.” The people didn’t have any qualms. He witnessed them helping each other with chores and tasks. It was a minor thing all good people should have had, but it was rare to see the chivalry around the palace. Then again, with how large the palace was, it was becoming rare if he saw his parents around other than during meal times.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Able to relax a little bit when the prince nods Akito shifts a little, letting Hiro settle against him once more, Hoko crawling back into the younger male's lap and letting out a contented yawn. He doesn't know what the humans are up to, but as long as his comfy bed is back in place, he's happy. For his part Akito does his best to focus on the game, the whispers and stares quieting down as the players charge up and down the field and eventually the soldier is able to relax to his normal state of awareness and actually enjoy what he's watching. He doesn't blame the prince, the silly man seemingly trying to help. 'He just fails miserably' Chiding himself he shakes his head, cheering softly as a particularly tricky shot pays off.
Then, just like that, the prince is ready to leave. Akito blushes lightly as the action of stretching causes the younger male to press against him firmly, but it's very light and fades quickly as he follows the youth to his feet. With a nod he tries to think of something else to amuse the man, but without waiting Hiro seems to already have something in mind. As he begins to wander, Akito watches his back and wonders just how much Hiro doesn't know about his people. 'I mean, he does not seem a fool, but out here with him like this, seeing him looking around like all of this is new and different and confusing, it makes me wonder what they teach the royal children growing up. I know they are suppose to learn how to rule, but does that mean they know nothing of common life?'
Following after the man he has to raise an eyebrow at the prince's next statement, once again wondering if he's being serious. And, just as before, he decides to answer calmly and seriously. “Their war has been going on since I was about three, meaning that this country has been at war most if not all of your life. It's understandable that his highness didn't want you too far out of sight at any given moment lest you find yourself at the wrong end of a enemy spear.” Looking around he spots people whispering and smiling at them as they move along and, unlike the claustrophobic feeling of the scrutiny in the crown around the game field, this feels far more manageable.
Slipping a little closer to the prince – all this talk about enemies wanting the royal family dead making him tense a little – he looks around, trying to find something of interest for the youth. Eventually he spots the market, the only place in town with foreigners, and he points it out to his betrothed. “That's likely to be the only other busy place in town, if you'd like to check it out. . . .” He lowers his voice slightly, “However I will ask that you stick close to me as this is the only place in town we are likely to come across people from other lands. . . .It's the least safe place in town. . .”
~~~~~~~~~~~

Surely there hadn’t been a war going on now? His father told so many stories of the victories they earned. He couldn’t have missed it in the many lectures he was given. His father was always repeating himself when he knew the prince wasn’t listening. ’What are they even fighting for?’ Maybe he should have asked his father about it. That would have probably earned him some sort of reward- for simply acknowledging it. Hiro shook his head, dispelling the thoughts.

His gaze goes back to the town and all the people walking about. Hiro hadn’t been told a lot about the people. They worked. They lived day to day lives. And they supported the king. None of it was a lie, but it it still never told him much. It made Hiro start to wonder why so much was demanded from him and yet he was told so little. Sure, he was schooled in royal affairs, but never of the people he would rule or even many of the foreign trades he would have to know. Although, the latter was probably to come later- and maybe for Akito to learn. Who knew. With the tradition still being upheld, when they married, Akito would technically be the next ruling king. Hiro would be one as well, but. . .Well, he wasn’t sure how power played in that situation. HIro simply shrugged it off.

“Oh, sure.” Fortunately Akito had warned him beforehand to keep close because the prince would have walked ahead. He slipped his hands behind his back, glancing to his side to see Akito close by as he had mentioned. The marketplace was definitely busy. Everyone running a stall yelled out to buy something of theirs, and if they weren’t selling they were buying goods or trying to haggle the prices down. “Oh, what a nice design.” Those familiar colorful blankets were hanging from a stall now, waiting to be bought. It was too bad he didn’t take money with him. He could have bought the random fabrics and sculptures, simply because he liked them. He doubted any of his seamstresses could make something similar to it, not that he expected them too.

“I don’t see any reason for it not to be safe. In order to gain trust shouldn’t we trust others? Besides, I don’t have any valuables on me. Nothing for anyone to take.” He shrugged and continued towards the market with his fingers linked behind his back.

~~~~~~~~~~~
The prince slows a little, clearly ready to move off into the crowd ahead of his betrothed in his excitement over being somewhere new, but heeding Akito's advice none the less. The soldier stays close letting his eyes scan the crowd along with slipping over his intended every now and again to make sure he's doing fine. As normal when he's walking through crowds his thumbs are over the top of his obi so that his hands are always near his blade and at the ready. He's heard nothing of there being any immediate dangers in the area, not that anyone would trouble him with such things after it was announced that he would be marrying the prince, but his nature will not allow him to relax and just enjoy himself. Especially in this press of people, all being noise, all going about doing this or that, all supposedly off in their own little worlds but still being a “community”.
His head comes back around and his eyes land on Hiro as he speaks, his trained ears easily picking up the man's words despite all the noise around them. He really wishes he could tell if the man really is this naïve. “Show trust to the wrong person, you wind up dead.” He says softly, moving a little closer to the prince so he can hear. “Also, your eyes are not trained to see danger. I doubt you or your mother would recognize danger in a crowd like this. It's not your job, nor have you need trained for it. Spotting danger I mean.” Looking about again he continues. “I see no danger here, but I must always keep my eyes open. It's just. . . .How I am, and how I've lived.”
Looking down at his hands for a moment he adds softly, “There is an old saying. Greet each person with a smile and the hand of friendship, but always keep your blade sharp.” Looking back at Hiro he nods slowly. “I think that trust is gained through trusting, but there is nothing wrong with learning to recognize when someone deserves your trust, and when trusting someone will get your head removed from your shoulders.”
~~~~~~~~~

Hiro’s gaze went to Akito for a brief moment. Having to watch for danger at every turn sounded like a terrible life. “Have you ever relaxed before? Like, ever? You seem pretty high strung.” His hands went into his sleeves and he nodded. “I suppose that would be rational. Trust others, but at your own cost. I’ve never had to worry about things like that. Obviously. It sounds- well tiresome.”

He paused at a jewelry stand, admiring the different necklaces and bracelets that decorated the table. A lot of them looked hand made which got Hiro’s attention. “Pardon me, but how’d you make those necklaces? I’ve only seen. . .Well never mind that.”

The people at the stand looked surprised that the prince was at their booth and more surprised that he paused to talk to them. One brave person began to speak. gesturing toward each piece of jewelry. “Well your h-highness, these are made from various beads. This one, I found several shells by the ocean when I went.” He smiled sheepishly and watched as the prince gazed over them.

“How nice. I really like them.” He nodded and looked over at Akito. “Don’t you think?”

~~~~~~~~~
A faint sting pangs his chest at the prince's tone when he asks if he's ever relaxed before. He may go on to talk about his views being rational, but the initial hurt of the prince thinking his vigilance is a bad thing sticks with him as they move along. 'It is just how I am. It is how I grew up. . . .Nothing “tiresome” about it, just. . .Is he really that against everything that makes me, me?' With a sight he comes to a stop behind his betrothed as he begins checking out one of the stall, his gaze drifting through the crowd idly as he pays half attention to the conversation going on between the stall owner and Hiro.
When the prince asks him his opinion on the jewelry pieces in display Akito takes a break from watching the crowd and instead looks over the shiny objects. He gives them a critical look, his focus still a bit distracted by the press of people, but he manages a smile after a few moments and a nod. “Very pretty, and done with obvious care.” Smiling at the stall owners, who flushes lightly at the glance, confusing the poor man, he goes back to watching the crowd, staying close to Hiro.
~~~~~~~~~

The prince nodded in agreement before standing straight again.He waved to the merchant before once again journeying through market with Akito. He seemed kind of distracted, but he did say that he was always being vigilant. It made Hiro wonder if there was ever any danger around when he was a kid. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t venture out to the village. “It seems...exciting.” He tried to find a good word for it. “Everything is much more fast paced than at home.” He wondered if these people had fallen into routines of their own as well. He wondered what the people thought of their own lives as the two traversed through the somewhat crowded area.

Seeing so many of the things being sold, Hiro contemplated actually buying some of the things the next time he was able to go to town. It wasn’t like he needed any of the things, he just wanted it. “I don’t think I’ve ever made anything by hand.” ’Unless magic counts.’

Their walk was surprisingly time consuming and soon even Hiro realized it was probably best to head home now. “We should probably head back. Before people start to worry.”
The sudden righteous anger from Dani caused him to step back. Aoba would have said something in order to stick up for the church, like how he was indoors most of the time and flying wasn’t necessary; however, it just seemed like it would upset Dani even more. The small demon’s anger subsided quickly after and moments later they were both in the air. Aoba yelped in surprise and yelled onto Dani. “Y-You know, I’d appreciate it very much if you didn’t randomly do things like this without warning.” He was clutching onto Dani while being held bridal style. A slow, sinking feeling made him realize the inevitable was bound to happen and there was nothing he could do about it. Aoba let out a quiet whine, unwillingly loosening his grip.

“Relax! I’m right here. I’m not going to let you get hurt. Kuro would try to kill me if I did.” Under them, Kyou watched with wide eyes as Dani held the fallen angel hostage. Sure it was odd that Aoba wasn’t allowed to use his wings, but he still didn’t think the best idea was holding him in the air so high-

“O-Oh dear.” It was all he could say as he watched Dani drop Aoba, the latter yelling in panic as he got closer to the ground. “Aoba!” Kyou rushed to get closer. Maybe he could try catching him if he didn’t fly. He had good intentions but Dani beat him to it. Before Aoba could hit the ground, he was once more in Dani’s arms.

With a roll of his eyes, he flew up into the air once again. “You’re supposed to open your wings. That’s how you fly. Duh.” To emphasize, he poked at the fluffy wings behind Aoba. “Open them all the way and move them.” He corrected as he sensed the angel would just panic again. “We’re going to keep doing this until you know.” His tone was matter of fact. There was no deterring his flying ‘lessons’. The two did just that. Over and over, Dani dropped Aoba from higher and higher heights. He figured the higher he went, the more time Aoba had in order to get himself together.

The first few times were awful and made Dani groan in disappointment. Even Aoba was surprised that he had so much patience with him. Wings must have been an extremely important subject for him. Slowly but surely, Aoba started using his wings, slowing down the fall. He did end up staggering at times, several times actually, but it was better than falling like a rock. He had asked for a break once or twice, but was turned down. “No breaks until you can at least go upward and not fall straight down!” Then, Aoba was dropped again.

Eventually, he had stopped counting how many times he had fallen out of the sky. Kyou on the other hand had counted 36 times. The final time Aoba was caught, he was happy that Kuro appeared to stop the madness. As Aoba was set on the ground, Kyou was the one to catch him as he stumbled backwards. “Are you alright?” He asked sweetly, walking with him to sit on the porch.

“I’m- I’m alright thank you. Just a bit… unnerved.” His wings stretched out behind him and Kyou looked at them with intrigue. “Hmph, he just got healed up and he comes back to fight. That’s not proactive.” Aoba simply shook his head and sighed, taking a moment to enjoy the fact that he was on solid ground. “Dani’s going to probably try to do that again too.” Kyou smiled reassuringly and rubbed his shoulder.

“As… crazy as he may be, he’s just doing what he thinks is best. After all, flying is important for-” He didn’t want to say escaping because he didn’t want Aoba to feel as if he was in danger still. It reminded him that the angel was still in stained clothing. “well a lot of things. Of course, I can’t tell you all of them because,” He pointed to his headwings and chuckled. “I don’t fly.” Aoba giggled softly and reached up to touch his wings.

Of course he couldn’t help but yell out to the two fighting not too far away. “Be careful you two!” Kyou sat still as Aoba examined, what more felt like him playing with, his wings.
They stood there, listening and searching. Enasi barely heard what Kaila had to say at first, too focused on trying to pinpoint where Seishu was. He was starting to feel more of the pain that Seishu felt. It hurt, but he stayed rigid. The last thing he needed was anyone worrying about him. Crios kept an eye on the Guardian, sensing his energy fluctuate now and then. It was off-putting to say the least. Enasi wasn’t telling them something. The guardian’s eyes never lied. His ears twitched towards Kaila when he was assigned a job. The doctor only nodded, waiting for final confirmation from his guardian.

“Go. Hurry.”

Despite the worry that grew from that empty voice, Harper nodded and looked at the others. “Move out.”

Their natural invisibility was waning rapidly. It was much harder to see Harper and Rue dashing back and forth over the place, but they could still feel sudden winds rushing past them and constant blurs stopping at certain points. The children seemed to have an easier time pointing out the large rabbit when he did stop. One kid, in particular, got in his way, so he patted her head and smiled. “Be a good little girl and pretend I’m not even here.” She giggled and covered her eyes as if agreeing that he had disappeared.

Crios and Rasha roamed more slowly. They were like ghosts fading in and out of sight. “This is weird. They can see us, but they aren’t sure…” Rasha’s ears laid flat against his head as he turned this way and that. The positive energy flowing around was helpful, especially from being stuck so close to nightmare minions ready to lash out at the first sign of them being capable.

“Just stay quiet. Keep looking.” Crios mumbled, searching for a back door or some entrance to a staircase. “If one of these sticky-fingered children touch my tail again…” He grumbled under his breath, trying to curl his tail tighter to him. His frustration festered with the amount of luck they had.

“Excuse me, darling.” An employee noticed Rue messing with the door labeled ‘Employees Only’. She saw the wings and could only assume the child was a part of the fairy themed birthday not too far away. The occasional twitches and movements did make her stare. Fake Wings weren’t supposed to do that. “Did you need something? The birthday party is over there unless you’re looking for the bathroom. Then I can show you where that is.”

Rue played innocent and faced the woman. “Oh, no thank you! But I saw someone go in there, and they looked like they weren’t supposed to…” Of course, as an employer the woman had to go in and check. While she did, he peeked to see what was inside of it. To his misfortune, it was just another closet filled with boxes and a few other things, so he hurried off before she could even turn around.

“I don’t see anything. This place isn’t even that large!” Crios, Rasha, and Rue had regrouped, sitting in one of the distant booths, trying to devise a plan.

“I know Rasha, I know.” Maybe they could trick one of the employees into telling them. Maybe they could-

All three of them turned their attention to Harper, who had hopped onto the stage where the animatronic animals were standing.

~~~~~~~~~
“Come on you four. . .” Starla paced impatiently. Everyone shared her impatience, but she was the only one to express it. Finn was standing at his guardian’s side, staring him down. “Lord Enasi. Something is wrong. What is it?”
“No time. . . Need to hurry. . .” His voice was distant, and he continued to stare out at nothing. Even the nightmare minions were starting to get a little worried by the state of the Guardian. Finn looked at Starla as if she would know the answer. He only received a confused and worried expression.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Harper’s foot tapped rapidly against the floorboards between the animatronic animals. He ducked when people passed by, hiding behind the large bear. The sound of excited children made each one of the dreams look over to see someone in a large bear suit. The distraction was used, and the three rushed to Harper’s side. “It’s here.” With a swift kick, he damaged the hinges and lifted the door open. While Harper chose to ignore the pain that followed, Crios kept a tab on everyone’s injuries. He was mentally prepared to point out each injury to work accordingly. At the top of his list was Seishu.

“Hurry, they’re coming back.” Rasha looked back to see the others filing into the trap door and end up in a pitch black room. Feeling around, Crios found the stairs. “The portal first. . .We don’t know how many of them are down there.” He restrained a whine, now feeling Seishu’s energy more clearly. It was getting more and more faint by the second.

~~~~~~~~~~
Time seemed to slow, making the ticking minutes feel even longer than they were. The moment the portal began to open everyone leaped to their feet and towards it. Harper stuck his paw out, gesturing them to come in. As they filed into the pitch black space, Crios warned them to stay quiet. They still had the element of surprise. If they were silent, murmured voices could even be distinguished.
“We shouldn’t rush out there. We need to be tactile about this.” Finn whispered quietly. Even though no one could see too well, save for Rasha with cat-like vision, he stared where he sensed the rabbit. Each of them mumbled and whispered, realizing the dangers of busting into the room.
Except Enasi. The Guardian pushed past the group, heading straight down the steps. A barrier protected a second door, but that didn’t slow the Guardian down. The wall gave way at his command. It was positive energy. He didn’t realize it, but Enasi’s emotions had been slowly boiling. With each step, those feelings festered. . .into worry and anger. Swinging the door open to see Seishu on the ground with one of five cloaked figures bent over him made his anger boil over first. He unleashed a feral snarl that made Rasha and Rue pause in shocked fear. “Get away from him!” His hand raised. Following it was a whip of positive energy- though instead of its usual bright yellow color, it was dim and much darker than normal. The whip lashed out sending the figure hovering over Seishu into a wall with a hard thud. A cracking sound followed, along with a yelp of surprise and fear.
The hood fell off the figure's head to reveal Fuan, clutching her bruised stomach and head. Part of her right antler had snapped and fallen off right next to her. Seeing that his minions had been the cause of the destruction of the realms only infuriated Enasi more. His glare darkened and his fangs were bared. Tendrils of energy flickered behind him as he walked over to Fuan. The other four cloaks who he recognized as Iro, Shasta, Tormali, and Haru had all tried to escape, going towards a back entrance of the dungeon-styled room.
One of those various tendrils picked up the needle that Fuan planned to use and lifted it to Enasi. “You were going to kill him. . . You were going to kill him! You ungrateful little fool! I trusted you to your job, and you betray that trust! You're the reason these realms are falling apart." Fuan was frozen in fear as her guardian yanked her to her feet. She clutched the broken antler in her trembling hands. "You've lost your sanity thinking this was a good idea."
“See? Good as new!” Dani pointed to where a gaping hole once had been in the roof. As so eagerly stated several times, it was fixed. Aoba smiled and hugged Dani, just to show his appreciation. It puffed up his ego even more.
“Thank you Dani.” Aoba let Dani ramble on and on about his work and what he did while Aoba was, as Dani put it, ‘risking his life for no reason’. While he did, Aoba wandered the barn noticing how everything was in the same spot. Nothing changed in the week he had left. He was a mix of relieved and curious. He noticed Kyou staring at him as he wandered and offered a smile. “And you stayed the whole time Kyou?” Aoba made sure as to not interrupt Dani by waiting until he was sure that the smaller demon was done. When he started following Aoba, that’s when he was sure.
“Yes, I did.” He left out the fact that he didn’t have much of a choice whether or not he wanted to stay or leave. “I helped Dani with the plants mostly. Occasionally with the animals too.” Kyou got less of an intimidating stare when he mentioned that he was helping Dani rather than doing it on his own. He hadn’t been, but looking back at the week, Kyou did do a lot of work. Dani sometimes even sat about and yelled at him for no reason. It wasn’t as if Kyou could protect himself, so of course he just took it and continued his work.
The trio walked out into the field and Aoba smiled seeing all the animals grazing as normal. “None of them got hurt or sick or anything? They’ve been okay?”
“When you left they were all nervous and such as if we were going to eat them or something. But they got over it and their fine now! Same for the birds over there too.” Dani watched as Aoba roamed over to the field. The cows and sheep their all lifted their heads towards the familiar presence. Some continued munching away while a few wandered over to him. One of the sheep bumped its head against Aoba’s side making the angel laugh and pet it. He smiled even more when Mama and Otto wandered forward in ‘greeting’.
“Oh my, Otto has gotten so big.” He knelt down and petted the calf and then felt a huff on top of his head. Aoba blinked and looked back at Mama before patting her nose. “I don’t plan on leaving again.” Of course he didn’t understand the cow like Dani could, and he wasn’t aware if the cow could even understand him. Nonetheless, he still responded as if she had said something. “What a cute little calf.” He stood, wandering over to the other animals, Otto following behind him a little curiously. Dani and Kyou stood at the gate, watching Aoba get reacquainted with the animals. They seemed to be happy to see him again. “Ahh, the little chicks, they got bigger too! You’re so cute and fluffy.”
He nuzzled one of them before getting up and walking back to the demons. “So. . .the plants?” Dani was a bit eager to show him this particular part of the farm. He hopped off the fence, grabbing Aoba’s wrist and pulling him along. The tiny sprouts he had seen before he left had grown too. They were about a foot high, each of them. He could tell they weren’t ready to be picked, but he was still excited nonetheless. “This is fantastic.” He smiled and looked over at the two. “Thank you for not letting the plants and animals die.” Aoba sounded quite sincere.
Dani shrugged. “Yeah, yeah. Kuro wouldn’t just let this place die off. He was all mopey and stuff. I just thought he needed something to do in his spare time.” He shrugged again. Aoba walked past him and he crouched a little lower, like a cat. The angel was oblivious to it, up until the demon pounced, landing right on top of him. Aoba squeaked and Dani grinned, showing his fangs. “Huh, you normally dodge it. I thought you would do it again.”
“W-Well I have been gone for a week. . .” Aoba mumbled. On the side, Kyou hopped up when he witnessed Dani suddenly ‘attack’ the angel. When he noticed they were fine, Kyou sighed in relief and stayed in place. He figured it was better to not interrupt Dani.
“We should fly!” Aoba blinked. Maybe Dani wasn’t understanding that a week of being cooped up in the church was like being cooped up in a birdcage. “Well, don’t just lay there come on.”
“Um, Dani?”
“Oh, right.” He got off Aoba, pulling him up with him in one fluid motion. “What’s wrong now?” His head tilted a bit when he noticed that familiar sheepish expression.
“I kind of got used to not using my wings…They were kind of in the way at the church. . .”
Enasi sighed, taking a breath of fresh air. He took down the protective barriers, letting the natural positive energy flow around him. It felt much better than being cooped up, however he was doing it to protect Inui so it was important. He absentmindedly walked, more focused on the energies around him than the scenery. He had walked to TB plenty of times to have the trail to heart- then again, he knew the entire realm by heart. It was one of the many parts of his job. There was no negative energy around. Everything was in balance in the area. In his search, he heard a soft hissing sound. “Hm?” Turning to his side, he saw the familiar large snake resting in a bush. It stretched out to greet him and Enasi smiled and rubbed its head. “Nice to see you as well. I can’t stay though. I must see TB.”
Once he was sure there was nothing out of the ordinary, the guardian took off in a slow jog towards the open field. The large turtle sensed his guardian from a distance and already had it’s large head out of it’s shell. “There’s been a disturbance in the balance. . .And you’ve been injured. No wonder your energy has been so low recently.” The turtle huffed, blowing a heavy gust of wind at the guardian. Instead of it knocking him backwards, it wrapped around the guardian, turning into a blanket of positive energy. The energy from the age old turtle was enough to aid the guardian in healing. In fact, he felt a lot better afterwards. Enasi bowed in thanks. Before he could begin, TB began to speak, so he sat in the somewhat tall grass. “You haven’t found the Nightmare Guardian.” It was just a statement of fact. Enasi patiently waited for him to build to his point. Ancient and wise, he was still a turtle and still a bit slow with movements and speech. “He’s not here, but there’s been a flickering negative energy...It comes and goes, but always in the same spot. I believed it to be the small minion at first until I realized it wouldn’t go in between realms like that.”
Enasi’s eyes widened a bit. “Could you possibly tell me where or who it was? I can feel the balance of the realms shifting. . .My mark is fading. . .I need all the help I can get.”
TB nodded slowly in understanding. “The realms are weakening at this sudden state. And you are as well. It’s happened before. One guardian gets weaker and weaker and the other does the same...You may feel the pain of the other too.” There was a pause before he continued. “The energy was in your castle...I cannot tell you who. There were too many weaker, sick energies around. But, I can tell you where that energy landed in the Human realm.”
Rasha waited in his hiding spot. His entire body was still, if he even went noticed he could’ve been mistaken as a statue. The wait was long, but Rasha remained alert. He couldn’t let this mysterious figure escape him. Not this time. The figure was crafty and silent, managing to wade through the halls, going ways that most didn’t. Rasha couldn’t follow them for long with the lack of places to hide, so as fast as he could, he rushed back to Crios. From what he could smell, there were traces of metal and...food? For some odd reason, there was a heavy lingering of the smell of pizza. He didn’t know if that’d be helpful or not, but he kept the small details in mind. “Crios!” He yelled out as he got close to the medical ward.
The doctor had been walking around the medical ward, critically analyzing everything that was out. At first the doctor on duty thought they were being inspected and got a tad bit more nervous because of it. “You’re fine. I just am looking for something. . .” The doctor sighed and watched as Crios looked around.
“Do you need any help, sir?”
Crios shook his head, not taking his gaze off shelves and tables. He was trying to figure out if anything was out of place, if there were things taken out of where they should have been, however he didn’t find anything. Before he could continue going through one of the workspaces, his ears twitched at the sound of his name. ’Rasha must have found them.’ In his mind he knew Fuan was to be blamed, however his heart just wouldn’t allow it. At least not until they had cemented proof. “I think it may have been somewhere else. Keep up the good work. Everything is well here.” Crios hurried out, meeting the cat half way. Rasha didn’t stop. Instead, he bolted into a U-turn and ran to where the figure had appeared from.
“Definitely a she. I think something’s on her head though. The fabric was still able to cave in some spots of her hood. Smelled like metal and pizza oddly. She knows empty paths in the castle. I couldn’t hide to follow her so I got you.” He added a few more details he could make out. It was his quick run down before they stopped at the corner of the hall. They had to wait for the hooded figure to go through the portal again and just before it closed, Crios could hold it in place for them to follow her.
They just had to wait. . .
“Thank you TB. I am in your debt.”
The large turtle let out a soft chuckle. “You are my guardian. Just keep this realm safe.” Enasi bowed, walking through the portal TB had created. When he walked out, the sudden chill made him shiver slightly. There was no one around, however there were plenty of cars parked. In front of him and practically exploding with positive energy was a bright, giant sign that read ’Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza’. For a moment, he stared at the cartoons on the sign. “A child’s play pen?”
Enasi spotted a girl and her father walking into the building, the former rambling on about pizza and games and how happy she was that he took her to the place.
“L-Lord Enasi!?” The shrill squeak made the guardian whirl around, only to be facing bright, wide eyes. Rue had nearly plummeted to the ground when he saw his guardian. Harper had skidded to a halt, followed by the rest of the dreams.
“Sir, what are you doing here?” Despite being just as shocked, Harper was less inclined to show it. As if on cue, Harper’s ears swiveled towards the sound of two more people approaching. “Crios, Rasha?! You two were supposed to be watching him. . .” Rasha’s ears flattened in guilt, right after he and Crios stood in shock, spotting the guardian.
“We thought you went to TB.”
“I did go to him.” Instead of answering their questions, he pushed past, looking Finn over. His hand cupped the young minion’s cheek and he frowned gently. “You’re hurt. . .” He didn’t hesitate to share some of his newly refurbished energy with the plant sibling. “Brave as you are, you shouldn’t rush into battle not at your best.”
There was a sudden growl from atop one of the cars. Jentou gave the dreams cold stares as they paused in the middle of their pursuit. Kaila glanced at his brother, giving a look in order to silence him and then cleared his throat to get the dreams’ attention nonetheless. “We should be moving. We don’t have time to waste.” The confusion and surprise faltered amongst them and they all were once again serious. His gaze landed on the building in front of them. “There’s a lot of positive energy bundled into this one area. It explains why we couldn’t sense our guardian as easily.” It was hard to pinpoint where the negative energy was coming from, but he concentrated.
The dream’s had a harder time depicting the negative energy, their senses naturally taking in what they knew was familiar. Enasi waited, listening and staring out into space. His hand went up to the mark on his hand again, instinctively this time. This time, there was a numbing pain he could feel going up his arm. He said nothing of it though. “He’s not in the building. . .There’s some sort of room under the building. . .I- It’s too faint up here, even for me. Just trust me.” The last part had been added more so because of the rise in negative energy near him. Jentou was still on the verge of speaking out against the dreams, but he held his tongue mainly because of Kaila. Rue gazed at his guardian’s clouded expression with concern, offering a light, comforting touch on his hand.
’Hang in there Seishu, we’re close.’
