Nice, a thread.

I'm just gonna move that outline here:

- The immortal maybe has a mini prologue showing they've been running away. (A little back story or something)
- The hunter is given the task and info of the immortal runaway.
- So the hunter hunts haha and chases after the immortal. (The first chase) Maybe even has the immortal cornered at one point.
- Some form of accident that was supposed to lead to the death of the hunter and then gives them the mark. (which leads to the hunter being like "welp guess I gotta end it now")
-The two join forces (after a lot of convincing from the immortal) (I imagine some very emotional/inspirational speech lol)
-On the run, they confide in a friend (either of the two's friend idk) as like a hideout for a short while. (I imagine this would put the friend in danger)

As a reference to look back on.
Hironori’s gaze returned to both Akito and his father when he realized that the list of rules and regulations had ended. ’Shorter than I imagined’ His smiled betrayed his sarcastic thoughts. It wasn’t the best idea to ruin whatever foundation of trust that was built between his betrothed and his father so his focus returned back to the conversation at hand. “So modest, isn’t he?”

“Absolutely!” Hiro’s mother chimed in before spewing ideas about him playing the game and even getting the servants to practice and have fun as well.

While the latter choice didn’t phase him- he actually thought it was a nice idea- the former of the two options made his smile falter ever so slightly. His parents didn’t notice it, but Hiro quickly straightened up again. Watching the sport was entertaining to Hiro. He enjoyed watching all the people come together and have fun, of course! However actually partaking in the sport… Hiro wasn’t very upbeat about the idea. The thought of all running back and forth and possibility for injury didn’t sound very fun, but his stepmother looked so excited- even his father was curious about the idea. After all, he used to play the game too when he was a bit younger.

And then Akito spoke. ’Only if you want to…’ Hiro rubbed his shoulder, stealing a glance at his parents who were still discussing the idea. “Oh, I…” Hiro gave a nod. “It doesn’t look too tough. Sure, I’d love to try.” It wasn’t a complete lie. Hiro didn’t think the sport looked too hard to learn, so if he had to then that would be the least of his worries. He also did want to find something that interested the both of them since he and Akito struggled to find multiple similarities. Despite not believing this activity would be one of those things, he gave it the hopeful chance that he would ‘learn to enjoy it’. “Learning new things can be fun.”

Both of his parents nodded their approval, but instead of a response, Hiro continued eating his food before it got cold. “Oh, what a great idea! I can’t wait to see you two out having fun together- though of course, we’ll try not to pester.” Jezura giggled. “You do need your personal space after all.”

“Mother now you’re just trying to embarrass me.” Jezura responded in a fit of soft giggles mixed with apologies. Hiro chuckled and rolled his eyes. Sometimes his stepmother acted just like a child and it was rather amusing most of the time. Hiro was just glad she was happy. He relaxed into his usual expression and pushed his bowl away, indicating that he was done. One of the servants quickly responded and retrieved the empty dish from him.

With a grunt, Satoru raised a finger at Hironori with a surprisingly pleased look on his face. “It’s good you’re getting out to do something like this. Keeps you from being all cooped up inside with those books.” He looked back down at his food, taking a bite. “Not that being book smart isn’t a good thing- just, you need more skills. You need the experience.” He became more focused on his food along with his wife to notice Hiro’s puzzled expression.

’You expect me to gain experience from playing games? Guess I shouldn’t have given them expectations.’ Hiro cleared his throat and nodded. “Yes, of course father. I’ll...do what I can.” His smile was brief; just enough for them to not expect anything wrong. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll go...stretch my legs?” Hiro couldn’t think of a good enough excuse to leave, but bowed his head before leaning over and kissing his stepmother’s cheek. “Try not to stay on your feet so much. You worry the servants, and father.” He smiled when Jezura giggled and nodded.

“I suppose I can take a break for a few minutes. I do get tired a lot quicker lately...” She began to ponder over how long she had been carrying the baby and then if she had a taste for something she wasn’t eating at the moment. While her mind wandered, Hiro bowed to his father and Akito before heading out.
At first, Aoba watched Kuro slide his way closer and closer, until he found his gaze faltering and watching the ripples of the water. He wasn’t distracted though. The angel was well aware of Kuro’s slow movements, however he couldn’t help shake the feeling of someone being around watching them. It was probably the paranoia as usual, but it made Aoba look up at the stars. They were pretty, but they didn’t give him any answer he was looking for.

Instead, now closer than before, Kuro spoke. The answer he gave wasn’t too specific and yet, the words were comforting. It made Aoba smile a little as he looked into Kuro’s eyes. “Yeah… Take each day one at a time… with you.” The idea of it sounded so simple and so easy that for a second Aoba even believed it wouldn’t be that difficult. For a second, even the notion of ‘having to stay alive’ was nothing more than an everyday task. Kuro’s answer and his own response was enough to brighten the smile on his face a little more. Following it was a happy sigh of sorts, as if for once Aoba was able to relax his mind and body. Aoba’s wing brushed against Kuro absentmindedly while he decided to find the right words to break the silence. “You’re so good at that,” He raised his voice a bit so he could be heard. “Knowing what to say… It’s comforting. Even if I’m as… high strung as I tend to be.” Aoba’s admittance made him scratch the back of his head and laugh sheepishly. He knew he wasn’t the calmest thing out there, and he tried hard to reach some sort of tranquility- however he found out quickly that a lot of things startled him, though to be fair, there were a lot of things that were worth being startled about.

His mind continued to roll, though at a much calmer pace rather than his jumbled and panicky thoughts. Aoba didn’t want to think about the bloody fight that happened earlier nor did he want to mention anything about when he left for the week. The water was warm, the sky was clear, Kuro was close by his side, and no one was around to bother the two. He could relax completely. He could worry about everything else later.

Something of course clicked in his head. Kuro happened to be pretty close. Aoba was sure he noticed it before. Of course he didn’t mind it, but he wondered what the demon was up to. He found himself staring into Kuro’s eyes, searching for an answer. Surprisingly, that answer came from Aoba’s own desire to shrink the remaining space between them. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing, but his life was full of surprises lately and he decided maybe for once to trust his gut.

His gaze wasn’t on Kuro anymore though. Instead, he was looking up at the stars. “The sky looks a lot clearer here...home.” It was an absentminded comment, more so to break the silence. “Hey Kuro…” His voice trailed off for a moment as he tried to think of what to say. He couldn’t help but feel as if he was ignoring his...feelings? Ignoring something, but of course, he continued. “Sometime later… do you think we could fly- uh, together? Dani tried but, well, it wasn’t the greatest lesson. And I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.” Aoba pulled the wing not behind Kuro closer to him and began sifting through his wet feathers. “I just need the practice, I’m sure.” His hands were resting in his lap and he gazed at the water. Aoba had that little determined pout he had when wanted to get something accomplished, just like when he was helping Kuro rebuild the barn and just like when he was so determined to heal Kuro when he was captured.

Fenrir couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Every time it seemed like the inevitable would happen between the angel and demon, Aoba’s...obliviousness caused it to go right over his head. “The boy needs someone to spell it out for him…” Fenrir sighed once more. It wasn’t as if the two hadn’t had their fair share of advances, but for some reason some of the most obvious opportunities were missed. Then, Fenrir blinked and looked up from the mirror. Maybe it was a little too odd watching Aoba’s day to day life...
Enasi’s eyes remained hopeful after he asked, but looking a bit closer he could tell Seishu was at least uncomfortable. He mentally frowned for not realizing it sooner. On the outside however, his expression calmed as Seishu told him the truth. Seishu’s pain should have been expected considering all that had happened for the past few days- in fact, since he had been left for dead in the Dream Realm.

The guardian’s smile was softer after he returned the kiss and he sat up a little more in order to lean against the back of the bed. The guardian didn’t shy away from Seishu, but he did grow a little more cautious as to how he approached his counterpart. Even all of his tender love and care couldn’t stop the pain Seishu was in, and unfortunately, the poor Nightmare Guardian was in a lot of it. “I am happy to see you as well.” Enasi leaned downward to kiss Seishu’s head, every once in awhile glancing over at Inui as he shifted to find the warmth he had cuddled up next to. “And I’m glad you didn’t hide your pains from me.” He didn’t urge the guardian to talk or move anymore than what he had already done. Instead, he quietly ran fingers through Seishu’s hair and let out a soft sigh.

He could get up and hunt down Crios, but the idea of leaving Seishu alone was a little unnerving, making the guardian realize that he had yet to get over the experience himself. Absentmindedly, Enasi rubbed his side, remembering the sharp pains he felt when Seishu was being attacked. He could only imagine that Seishu’s pains were much, much worse. There was no room to dwell on that memory; he wanted to focus on the now. A familiar energy shuffled its way closer and closer, making the guardian smile. “Ah, a diligent little fox he is. It seems he had a similar idea.”

Not long after, there was a knock on the door and before Enasi could respond, Crios let himself in. “My apologies if I...interrupted something,” From where Crios stood, Enasi and Seishu laid nude with the blanket as their only cover up. That was easy to tell considering his guardian was sitting up and that same blanket was- Crios decided not to linger on that for too long. He had came into the room on a mission and they looked content so things were okay. More or less. “I figured, Night would need the medicine considering he’s not very prone to staying still for too long.”

“I appreciate your hard work, doctor.” The guardian’s smile was contagious enough to make Crios return it and bow slightly. “Of course, sir.”

Rasha and Rue’s sleep prescription did wonders for the two. The bits of negative and positive energy radiating from Rue did confuse the cat in his sleep, but eventually he settled just fine. Both woke up, carefully stretching in a way that didn’t mess up their balance. They were pretty high up in the tree away from people and away from the noise. Rue’s nose wrinkled with a laugh that followed when Rasha’s stretching resulted in his tail tickling his cheek.

“Move your butt out of my face, will you?” Rue received a playful mew and a gentle pat on the nose with Rasha’s paw. “Do you think we should-” Rue’s stomach interrupted what he was going to say and in return also answered his question. He realized he had yet to have a decent meal in the past few days thanks to spending every waking hour searching for Seishu. It was definitely high time he had grabbed a bite to eat. Then, then he would go visit the guardians and see how they were.

“Sounds to me like you need food in your system.” With another stretch, Rasha added, “So could I.”

“I was just thinking about that. We'll make a stop for food.” Rue didn't need to go into much detail after that. They both knew they were both eager to see if the guardians were better than how they left them.

~~~~~
Now, Crios had taken a moment to properly position his patient, taking care to return the blanket over him should he have been cold. That or he was simply keeping Seishu shielded for his own sake. Inui was awoken by all the movement and noise and had crawled to the foot of the bed in order to stay out of Crios’ way while he worked.
“This should help.” Crios spoke but his eyes were trained on his work as usual. Once more, like clockwork, Seishu was injected with that all too familiar concoction that was supposed to help him heal. At times, he was concerned it wasn’t working well enough for his patient, but instead of verbalizing those worries, he continued on to check on Inui who had been silent since he woke. The nightmare minion didn’t want to be in the way, but when he was beckoned forward, he quickly complied and moved to sit in front of Crios.
“And how are you feeling?”
“Much better.” Inui said with a nod. Of course, the doctor still checked him over, but he figured having Seishu closer to him helped a lot with his healing.
“Good, good. And Lord Enasi?” Crios’ eyes softened a little. He knew the guardian wasn’t physically injured- besides his previous injury that should have been healed by TB, but what happened there was still a chance Enasi was still mentally fatigued. Crios only wanted to be sure.
Enasi watched as his doctor glided between the two nightmares tending to them. Only when he was asked about his well being did his eyes fall to his lap. “I’m alright Crios. Much better at least.” Enasi gave a reassuring smile and left it as is. He wasn’t too happy about his actions, but at this point it was much too late to take it back. So, he wasn’t going to let himself fall into a depressed slump about it. At least he was going to try not to. Hearing the soft ‘Are you sure?’ made Enasi look up at him again. “It wasn’t the most pleasant thing...but it’s not the worse. Trust me, I’ll be fine.” Inui looked at Seishu with a slight confused expression. He hadn't learned about the incident prior to Seishu's retrieval. When Seishu returned, he was too overwhelmed to focus on anything beforehand. Now, he was hoping to be filled in by the Nightmare Guardian- or anyone for that matter.
Aoba let out a small ‘oh’ in surprise when he was scooped up. “That’s, um, good to know?” He offered a smile and then was set down only to watch Kuro do most of the work. “Do you need help-” However time he asked, it seemed Kuro was already done with the task. So, Aoba settled with leaning against the tub and watching the demon go to work. He seemed a lot more energized than before. Sure, this was Kuro as he was always happy to bathe with him, but now he seemed twice that. Kuro stripping bare before the tub was completely filled made Aoba avert his gaze. He didn’t want to seem like he was staring after all. He remains in a sort of quiet contentment, waiting for the tub to finish filling. Unlike Kuro, he was in no rush to stand nude and wait, nor was he as...happy? Aoba’s gaze so happened to fall onto Kuro and all his pride- and well being as modest as Aoba was, of course he looked away. It was hard to ignore it, but at least he could try to refrain from blushing at every little thing Kuro did- especially if they’d be together-
’Staying together!’ He mentally corrected himself. His wings pressed against his back and he sighed. ’I really shouldn’t be getting so worked up...He’s going to think something is wrong… I’d rather not have to explain that...[‘
He reached out, touching the water’s surface, watching it ripple for a few moments. With a satisfied nod to himself, he stripped down and climbed into the tub. The only reason he quickened his pace was to avoid the cold chill as it got darker. “This is...this is nice.” He sank lower into the tub and sighed. For some reason, even this tub was a lot more relaxing than the one in the church. Maybe it was because that one was smaller- and maybe because the first time he used it was when that Miss Susie woman decided to scrub him down in efforts to get rid of...dirt and sin. That was just unpleasant. The thought of it again made him shudder. Realizing Kuro noticed, he shook his head slowly. “Just- just a, uh, bad thought.” He figured bringing up the church now would, even if Kuro disagreed, ruin the mood- at least his own mood if any.
He sank lower into the water and looked at his wings, letting them stretch out a bit. Now that he had thought about it, he did keep them closed a lot while he was away. Stretching them out did feel a lot better, and there was a lot more space at the farm, so they wouldn’t get in the way. “So…” His voice trailed off and he looked up at the sky. “What now?” It was an honest question. Now that he was sure he was going to stay, no matter the consequences, would they go back to how things were? Back to living ‘normal’ lives and defending against demon attacks? Where’d they go from here…? He let his mind wander over the possibilities before turning his attention back to Kuro with a curious gaze.
It wasn’t long, after returning the kiss and watching Seishu fade off, before Enasi found himself slipping back to the land of the living. His eyes don’t open at first, despite feeling the soft kisses and the hand tracing across him. At first he thinks he;s still dreaming, but he was sure he had woken up. In one slow and drawn out movement, Enasi smiled and pulled Seishu closer to kiss his forehead. Letting him go, he turned his head to yawn and rub his eyes before finally opening them to gaze over at Seishu. “Not that I’m complaining, but when did you get in here?” A curious expression fell on his face and he leaned over Seishu, spotting Inui behind him. It took him a few shifts in movement to realize he had been stripped in his sleep, though, instead of surprise he ran fingers through his hair before laying his head back. “I must’ve been a lot more tired than I thought.” Not only did two nightmare beings manage to slip into his room without him realizing it, but he was also undressed too.
He was surprisingly calm, but it could have been the residual energy from Their World- or he could have still just been rather happy to know that Seishu was back and very much safe. The Dream Guardian decided it was both before rolling back closer to Seishu and pulling him into a hug. He was careful to keep his energy down, for both Seishu and Inui’s sake, but that didn’t stop him from kissing Seishu again. “I’m so, so, sorry you had to go through all that, but I’m glad you’re back and okay-” He paused and looked at Seishu with a familiar concerned. “You are okay...right?” Inui stirred a little because of the noise, so Enasi lowered his voice some.
Harper’s nose twitched. He was sitting, high up on the roof of the castle- which was rare for many to do. There, he could easily gaze around, while still being close enough to their guardian in case he needed the assistance. It was only just in case. Harper’s assistance wasn’t needed at all and the guardians had both been asleep for a few hours. All was peaceful actually and he found himself dozing off every once and awhile.
His nose twitched again and he realized the guardians were waking up- not just the guardians but a few more energies, all more than likely migrating to the same place. As much as he wanted to hurry to his guardian’s side, he forced himself to stay put. Lord Enasi was with Seishu. They probably wanted a few minutes to themselves, especially after being away from each other so long. So, for once, he decided to take it a bit….slower than usual.
Crios gave one final and quick kiss to Cho before turning and heading towards the medical wing. However, before he left, he looked at Cho. “After being locked away for a number of days, would you mind making something for him? To get his energy up a little more?” ’And of course so I can see you during my busy work life as well?’ He was careful to keep his expression the same, despite the ‘overly cute’ thought, and waited for Cho’s answer.
“That is a good idea. I’ll see what I can have my staff whip up.” Of course, with Cho, he wasn’t going to stop there. He was going to make sure the entire hard working crew got food. Crios smiled, thanked him, and hurried to his office in order to grab his supplies. Seishu would definitely need to be checked on again.
Hiro glanced over at his parents again. As usual, his mother smiled at him before turning her attention to Hoko. She loved the cute little audrat, he noticed. He was almost surprised she hadn’t asked to babysit the creature while Akito wandered the palace. However that wasn’t Hiro’s concern so his train of thought continued. His gaze landed on his father but by the looks of it, eye contact was being avoided. ’Oh well. . .’ He mused, deciding to leave it be.
Servants started to file in just as quickly as when they were setting up, setting plates in front of the four royals. Jezura took her attention from Hoko to look at her son and then her husband. She gave a small, barely noticeable huff before smiling and gently placing a hand over Hiro’s arm. With a voice near a whisper she spoke, “I appreciate the effort dear. Thank you.”
A playful grin flashed on Hiro’s face before playing innocent. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, honestly. All I did was come for a meal with my family.” He paused and passed a quick glance over at Akito. “New and old of course. That’s no big deal.” He smiled when the Empress giggled and nodded. Once again his gaze fell onto his father but he didn’t pay him much attention. “Yeah, no big deal at all.” His attention went over to his stepmother as she somehow managed to rope into a conversation about one of the many gardens in the palace. “Well, there are a bunch of yellow flowers on that side. Wouldn’t you want to change the colors as the season-”
Both Empress and Prince paused in their conversation, turning to look at Akito. One was rather surprised while the other practically had stars in her eyes at just how cute the two were. Neither of them probably saw what she did though.
Hironori took a sip of the water next to him only to cough when he realized what Akito was doing. Eyes fell on him and a servant quickly rushed forward, but he immediately waved them away. “My apologies… went down the wrong way.” He shrugged and then dropped his gaze back to his food.
The Emperor raised a curious eyebrow as Akito spoke. At first, the only response Akito got was a nod towards the apology. His brows furrowed in contemplation and he finally looked over at Hiro- who had kept his gaze down. He didn’t want them thinking he had any part of this. The drawn out silence made the Empress nudge her husband with her elbow. He was going to question it, but the look in her eyes was enough of an explanation. With a sigh, he spoke. “I suppose I shouldn’t stop you from seeing your family.” Emperor and prince met gazes before he added, “And that would be one less thing I have to worry about in regards to his troublemaking.”
Hiro shrugged, starting to say something but was pinched. The Empress apparently knew that whatever he was going to say wouldn’t have been good, so he opted to taking a bite of his food while the Emperor continued agreeing to Akito’s request. There were probably rules he was going to spew out so Hiro opted to pay more attention to his food instead, though that didn’t stop him from giving Akito an appreciative smile.
“So, what did you to do when you went to the village?” The Empress prodded before taking a bite.
“Oh, I met the villagers. They were really nice, they even have activities together- it’s a small place too so I believe everyone is well acquainted with each other. One of the activities is a game actually.”
“Oh? What kind of game?”
“It’s a lot of running back and forth, but you and your team have to kick a ball into a basket on either end.”
The Empress smiled. “I remember watching the servants play something like that when I was a little girl. They always looked like they had so much fun. I’ve never played it though. Why didn’t you play with him?”
Hiro didn’t really want to admit he’d much rather watch the sport than partake in it. He figured his father thought he was lazy enough. So, he smiled and shrugged. “I decided to watch and learn. Besides, I wasn’t in the right attire for physical activity like that. And there was a nice woman on the sidelines giving out muffins- It was worth not playing. Besides, I got to watch Akito play; he’s really good at it.”
Aoba listened to Kuro’s every word, quietly and attentively. Every now and again his gaze would fall to the ground instead of at Kuro, but he listened all the same. He wasn’t very sure what to think about the answer. He knew he wasn’t upset anymore, not like he was when he had left. He did feel a bit betrayed, but that feeling was minor and more of a memory than anything. Aoba fiddled with his fingers, much like he would when he was nervous- which was almost all the time. He wanted to say something to let Kuro know things were okay but he wasn’t exactly sure how. Aoba wasn’t good with words, which in turn gave him an idea.
He glanced over at his wings after Kuro moved his hand and then took a step forward, capturing his hands before he could move them to his side. He couldn’t be mad at those sad eyes! Aoba was definitely very soft at heart and there was probably no changing it. ’This is probably not the brightest idea. . .’ He took another step forward, resting one hand on Kuro’s shoulder while the other was still holding Kuro’s free hand, and then kissed him. He was still amazed at how he managed to initiate their very first kiss, or this one for that matter. Shy at first, he did grow a little more confident in the kiss and stayed in the moment as long as he could before his head started swimming and he felt a little sick again. ’Definitely worth it though.’
When he pulled away, Aoba opted to rest his forehead against Kuro and slowly let go of his shoulder, waiting for the feeling of sickness to die down a tad more. He was really going to have to get used to that again. At least the distraction managed to get his mind off of crippling shyness and blushing various shades of red.
“You’re right, they were justified. But, I shouldn’t have left. I realized that it was a mistake.” He sighed and finally gained enough composure to stand on his own and look at Kuro. “I really do want to be here with you. I’ve never been so happy before, which was confusing because this,” He paused and looked at the old house and barn. “This was supposed to be a punishment. I figured if they realized that I never learned a lesson, they’d try making it worse.” Although he wasn’t sure how worse it could get besides being sent straight to Kuro’s home- which caused a shudder to go down his spine. Aoba shook his head, dispelling the thought. “Just know, it was my decision, no matter the consequences, to come back and stay with you.” He added with a small laugh. “And I suppose Dani too.” He nodded and smiled once more. “And I forgive you. . . I’m probably going to still be terrified of your family no matter how nice they are however.” The last part was spoken a bit softer as he examined his stained clothing.
With a sheepish smile he continued. “Sorry about ruining the mood… If you’re still up for it, we should definitely get cleaned up now.”
It wasn’t long before they found themselves lying in comfortably plush grass in a loving embrace. He was sure after seeing so many different phases and emotions from Seishu, this one had to be the best. He was at peace and so happy and in turn Ensy was just as happy. With a long sigh, he rested his head on Seishu and stretched an arm out across him. He hugged him just a bit tighter, wanting him to stay close and never leave and scare him half to death again. Fortunately, he at least knew when he woke up Seishu would be safe. There was no need to worry, especially after such an amazing time.
It was quiet for awhile and Enasi looked out. spotting a few twinkling stars spread across the sky. He hadn’t even noticed the subtle changes around them, being much too focused on Seishu to care. The lighter colors of twilight were all deeper shades of purple and blue. It was a pretty sight that he hadn’t seen very often besides in Their World and when he went into the Nightmare Realm. The birds and drakes were flying again, if they had ever stopped. His moment of examination was stopped when the silence was interrupted.
Enasi pouted only to respond with a playful growl. There was no use hiding that he could, although he never really hid it. He just never had any need to growl. What Enasi said next surprised himself, though he was quite serious about it as well. “You know, we should try this… awake. To see the difference?” There was no doubt of a light blush creeping on Enasi’s face, but his head was still resting on Seishu and the nature of Their World kept him a lot more calm and a lot less skittish. “Just a thought of course.” He whispered and cleared his throat before relaxing once again. He had a fleeting wonder of what everyone else was up to. After the vigourous searching, he hoped everyone was getting the rest they needed and deserved. There was little he could do about it at the moment so he opted in cuddling with Seishu until he woke up and went to check on him, not knowing that the Nightmare Guardian made himself comfortable in his own room.
Everything fell back into its normal pace after the talk with Hiro’s father- not saying that anything was actually out of place for the servants, just back for the royal family. The short adventure was nice while it lasted, but of course Hironori knew it wouldn’t have lasted forever. ’Kaede said dinner should be ready soon.’ It was then he realized the maid had already departed to continue her chores. “I might as well change it up a bit.” Hironori pushed himself off the floor and made his way into the halls.
He had passed a few servants, some who questioned if he needed anything, while others bowed respectfully. Some of the servants that asked if Hironori needed aid had been concerned due to his ‘aimless walking’. He looked lost, or as if he was looking for something. However, he was just lost in thought, reminiscing about the trip to town. He remembered the various shocked faces when he arrived, the familial and safe feeling as everyone gathered together to play games.
He couldn’t understand why his father would think it was dangerous just to visit the people who adored the royal family so much. Sure there were other kingdoms that they went to war with, but these were their people. They were protected by the Emperor’s army! They, and himself, were perfectly safe!
Hironori’s thoughts subsided when he entered the dining room. Seeing the servants still setting up made a brief look of surprise flash across his face. “Huh.” The last time he had been this early for a meal had probably been when he was a kid. The staff moved back and forth in a system, but one person in particular hadn’t been doing so. That’s when he realized Akito was standing out of the way. “Oh.” He nodded his hello. A servant broke from the flowing system of plates and food being set in order to direct both of them to their seats. “You know, it’s not necessary to come in so early?” He looked at Akito with a genuine expression of curiosity before adding. “Well, depending on when you got here. My parents should be arriving soon as well.” He shrugged and looked down at the empty space in front of him. He didn’t seem as troubled as his father, but something did seem a little off about him.
Their conversation was short lived after a few exchanges due to both his parents walking in. Well, the Emperor walked in while the Empress sort of waddled. They both briefly paused in surprise when they spotted their son already sitting with Akito. Jezura beamed in delight while Satoru simply nodded to the both of them before helping his wife sit down.
