Martin woke up again. The bright led light stung in his eyes.
Trough blurry vision he saw the slightly frustrated faces of Magnus and Hale.
"How are we supposed to torture you for information if you keep checking out like that!?"
Looking down he saw some cuts and bruises, they still hurt. He would be long dead before they would get to the creative stuff.
"Have you considered asking?"
Magnus grinned, a chilling reminder of his monstrous nature flashed with sharp teeth.
"I have a better idea."
Procuring a small bottle and needle he injected a ominous looking liquid in Martin's restrained arms.
"What's this supposed to be, truth serum? I already explained that- oh.. I see."
Martin trailed off mid sentence as he saw the room wave and colours flicker.
Out of the fog that rest in the room the hand of Magnus shot forward, tightly gripping Martin's forehead.
Martin's conciousness wavered, images seen and images of his minds making flowed together.
He found himself standing unrestricted, on rolling plains of flowing crimson grass. The sky above a stormy copper sky.
The horizon set with crucifixes.
Above him in the skies a giant demonic face looked down upon him. As twisted as it was, it was clear to be Magnus staring into his mind.
"What is your name?"
Before he could react the world around him whispered the word in instant reaction.
Martin.
"Where and how did you acquire the 'sun stone'?"
Martin looked around, expecting an answer to come from everywhere but him now.
After a slight pause the answer was heard.
You mean the Exile Stone.
Memories seeped out from the grass and manifested in sounds, images and smells.
They showed Martin driving in a car with Void. They spoke of similar concepts the other vampires had heard from Martin in England.
Martin picked up a package at the curb in front of a small cottage in the middle of nowhere.
"Who do you work for?"
Imediately a rush of memories erupted from the fields, answering the call.
No one.
An unnamed organisation.
A collector. The foundation.
Someone who wishes to see both races survive.
Along with more visions of Martin picking up and delivering packages, answering phone calls, talking to people, travelling...
Magnus looked irritated. In the distance he heard another voice intrude.
"Try and get the info in that Purge guy you fought, no reason fighting fair next time right?"
The head of Magnus noded. "What is Onikage's weakness?"
"Who"
Flickering lights restored memories of Martin watching Hale bust trough a stone pillar. With every swing the camera's wore down further till no images were left.
A constructed image showed of Onikage in conflict with Hale. Rapidly and one after another circuits burst and engines would give out. Before Hale would have gotten a chance to land a blow Onikage was would stand frozen. Stuck in his high tech, but ruined armor.
An intrigued look showed on Magnus's face.
"This little mortal has a surprising understanding of you and how your abilities work Hale."
"What the fuck are you talking about? Spying on him spying on me! Get to the question."
"I got my answer, I'll explain later. One more question then.
Who are you?"
The question made the ground shake and rumble. As if the act of Martin questioning his existence made the realm around him unstable.
Martin wanted to speak, answer with a story about culling the herd, or sell himself as a salesman of information.
But no words came to him, he felt compelled to answer but the more he sought the stranger thing became. Was it not a simple question?
"Well, that question put him out for the count." Magnus laughed as Martin's head dropped lifelessly beside him.
"D'ya killed him then?" Hale looked at the bound mortal in a cold manner of factly way, as if inspecting ingredients for a soup.
"Nothing so simple. He'll be stuck in his own mind until he finds an answer to the question. No one comes out of that with all of himself intact."
They left the torture room and broken little Martin alone. Done with the matter at hand. On to whatever else there was to do.
"So we just leave him there? Not even going to take his eyes out or anything. Eh, maybe later. So what kills the super ninja?"
"Patience barbarian. I'm not going to explain it twice and 'our new leader' (he said the words with mockingly added drama) would probably like it heard first hand.
Magnus knocked on the door of Mo's private room.
"Hello there, how are preparations going?"
