Earth, 2060. A small group of colonists leaves the ravages of Earth for a distant planet orbiting Alpha Centauri's primary star. Their ship, the United Nations Starship Unity, carries them on their journey to a new world and a new hope for humankind. Domai was assigned to the Unity as a mining specialist, to be awakened Planetside after the regular mission crew had set up permanent settlements. However, a cryopod malfunction following the meteor strike prematurely awakened him into a miasma of toxic gases vented by the crippled ship, causing temporary damage to his memory and communication faculties. Assigned to repair crews as a common drone, Domai struggled to reassert his identity and regain his full humanity. Once recovered, Domai led his co-workers in a revolt at their brutal working conditions, commandeered a colony pod, and set out for Planet in command of his new band of followers.

Psych Profile: Proletariat

Although already predisposed towards working class politics back on earth, Domai’s experience on the Unity seems to have radicalized his beliefs. Some also question whether his toxin exposure might have had other, long-term side effects, which would account for his newfound reliance on violence to achieve his ends. In either case, Domai’s worldview now revolves around the idea of a class struggle that can only be resolved through the destruction of the oppressors. Although his weapons are fairly low-tech, he is not afraid to throw away lives in large, “human wave” assaults. Background

Very little is known about Cha Dawn; available data comes from deprogrammed adherents whose information is colored by the Cult's indoctrination techniques. Apparently, Dawn was found as an infant in the fungus by a splinter group known as the Ecological Malcontents, soon after Planetfall. His parentage and birthplace are unknown. According to the lore of the Cult, the native life forms did not harm the child, and he possessed no breathing mask, although the length of his exposure was also unknown. The Malcontents raised the child as a kind of messiah for his supposed rapport with Planet, and he did demonstrate extremely accelerated mental development. After a period of several years, the faction declared Dawn its leader and began the task of cleansing Planet from any 'foreign' defilements.

Psych Profile: Chosen

Traditional Cult lore holds that Cha Dawn is in fact a human manifestation of the Voice of Planet, a boy created by Planet to act as a communicator with the other factions. Regardless of the veracity of this belief, Dawn certainly believes in his authority as a Prophet, and seems to have no qualms about the means he uses to achieve his ends. The Cult freely builds mines and factories, all in the service of their mission, and Cult doctrine holds that these blights will be destroyed as the last act of Planet's purification. Cha is extremely aggressive in his dealings with other leaders, and holds the fanatic's belief that the divine nature of his goals outweighs the lives sacrificed to achieve the goals.

This time i’ll be tackling the classic Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, which is over 15 years old! Alpha Centauri is one of the most immersive games I’ve ever played, and I’m hoping I can tell a compelling story with it.

As per tradition, the various factions will personify various people from spam.
I personally will be playing your glorious capitalist overlord, Morgan Freeman.

Reentry did not happen as smoothly as initial simulations had suggested. I suppose that was to be expected, given the circumstances.

The whole mission had been thrown into chaos ever since the Reactor was sabotaged.

How do I know the Unity was sabotaged? Why, the whole ship was practically assembled solely by Morgan Industries subcontracters! I was very clear to all my subordinates that the quality of the Unity was not to be sacrificed. No doubt it was one of Deidre’s ecological campaigns against nuclear power, or the doing of that naive Lal to prevent the possibility of radiation sickness. Regardless of who caused it, the reactor failure was only the beginning of our problems.

After the Unity’s captain was murdered by some rogue element, Security officer Yang took charge as the ship began its final movements towards the Planet. Of course, without the main reactor the ship wasn’t able to slow adequately to allow the planned deorbiting maneuvers. Yang tried to keep order and fix the reactor alongside science officer Zharkov, but the majority of workers didn’t care for Yang’s severe methods. Especially not that Australian, Domai. I suspect one of Domai’s minions is to blame for the explosion that disabled the main reactor beyond repair. The explosion took out nearly all the senior officers, save for Deidre, Lal and that fanatic Godwinson. Luckily for me I had my own private quarters built into the Unity on the other side of the ship -- with reinforced walls.

Naturally, given the lack of leadership after the Captain’s and then Yang’s death, I stepped forward to take control of the mission. I might not have been a part of the Crew’s official manifesto, but I was certainly the only person on board with enough leadership to see the ship safely planetside. After all, I had run and international - no, now interstellar business conglomerate. What had Deidre run but a hydroponics garden? Bah.

Many of the Unity’s crew rallied around me - though many of the fools were drawn in by the gimmicks of the other so called “leaders” of the unity. Deidre’s green-freaks, Santiago’s gun-nuts, Domai and his worker’s revolution, Lal and his naive flock. Oh, and of course, Godwinson’s brainwashed loonies. It was practically war on the Unity - almost ironic, given the ship’s name.

The only thing that kept the others from tearing themselves apart was their own fear of survival - no one dared fight too brashly lest the ship itself come into danger again.

The uneasy cold war continued until Planetfall. The Unity’s approach vector was far too steep and too fast. I fear that Morgan Industries lost many valuable assets in the thick atmosphere - most of the Unity’s datalinks were damaged, and different colony, survey and resource pods scattered across the surface. With some luck, myself and most of my followers landed relatively unharmed, and I have incorporated Morgan Industries’s Planet Headquarters. Survey teams report that we’ve touched down on one of the large islands in the northern hemisphere. It seems that we’re the only ones here. Contact with any of the other misguided fools is nonexistant - with luck, they didn’t survive reentry, and won’t stand to oppose Morgan Industries’s growth in this new market.

My data analysts, however, say that such luck is unlikely. My tech specialist, a miss Sinder… Rose, I believe? has assured me that others made it down to the surface. However, with damaged equipment and interference from the Planet, contact is currently an impossibility. She assures me that this problem will be remedied.

It is refreshing to have such competent assets in my possession despite all of the unfortunate difficulties in arriving here. I predict profitable futures ahead.
