I'd like to do an rp set in the universe of the Elder Scrolls Games (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim), but not directly touching on the main story arcs of any of the games, nor with either of us playing canon characters (or the 'main' characters of each game). Obviously, depending on when and where we have the rp take place in the larger Elder Scrolls universe, some canon characters may come up, and we can each play them as needed.
Obviously, this requires some familiarity with the lore of the games, and thus likely the games themselves. Additionally, my characters will be either Men (Imperials, Redguards, Nords or Bretons) or Mer (Dunmer, Altmer, Bosmer), and my partner in the 1x1 is going to have to play one of those seven as well (though doesn't have to be of the same one that I am), I don't get the fascination with Khajiit, Argonians and Orcs that many have (its fine to have that fascination, don't get me wrong) and would rather not have them as a main character in a 1x1 I do.
I have a few ideas, all set in the 'Skyrim' Era (So in the Fourth Era, set in the Province of Skyrim, in that general time period). But if you don't like any of them, we can discuss others in other eras and other periods. Where I say [Empire/Stormacloaks], that means the idea in question is variable as to which it is, and up to your choice. Additionally, if you most of an idea but not all of it, we can make changes.
Its been five years since the Dragonborn of Legend defeated Alduin, stopped the plans of the vampire Lord Harkon to extinguish the sun and defeated Miraak on Solstheim. After accomplishing these feats, the Dragonborn vanished, rumored to have left Skyrim to travel to frozen Atmora, or to Akavir to learn more about their nature as possessed of the blood of dragons. Other rumors abound. It has been two years since the [Empire/Stormcloaks] won the Civil war and restored peace to Skyrim under their control. The Dragonborn may be gone, but their legacy remains, as a one of the great hero's journals - covering their journal to Blackreach to recover an Elder Scroll - has fallen into the hands of Julius Tarrien, an Imperial scholar and expert on the Dwemer. Determined to not only reach Blackreach, but to dedicate himself to uncovering all its lost secrets, to bring to light more discoveries about the history, culture and nature of Tamriel's most advanced race. Knowing that he can hardly do it alone, Julius hires a recent graduate of the College at Winterhold to help, both in the work itself and in combating the inhabitants of Blackreach itself. Unfortunately, Julius is not alone in his interest in Blackreach - The Thalmor, The Synod and [Empire/Stormcloak] revanchists seeking to undo the results of the Skyrim Civil War are only a few of the competing factions that make life difficult for the pair of them, as the secrets of Blackreach are uncovered once and for all.
Eight Priests, and Eight Masks. Legend holds that the owner of all eight will have power untold in their possession, rule once more of Skyrim, as the eight Dragon Priests ruled all the land themselves, governing from temple-fortresses like Forelhost, Volskygge and Valthume. The return of the Dragons, even though Alduin himself was defeated by the Dragonborn, has seen some believe that the Dragon Cults had it right, and have sought to rebirth the old religion of Dragon worship. Working in secret, they have already struck at the temples of the traditional pantheon and have gathered followers among the outcast, the desperate and the weak-willed. Worried about the long-term potential threat of this rising cult, the [Empire/Stormcloaks], having unified all Skyrim under their control, hires two adventurers to learn more about this group, its goals and its strongholds, and, if they can, bring it down entirely. Together, they must criss-cross the province, searching ancient ruins for clues and fighting in caves, ruined forts and even in the cities themselves against an ancient faith that will not stay dead.
Sanvyn Llothri has spent his life dedicated to the study of necromancy. A dangerous practice for the Dumner, where necromancy is hated and despised beyond even how it is seen in most other provinces. But a firm believer in the benefits necromancy can bring to society, Sanvyn and a small group of like-minded individuals kept up their work, researching and experimenting. When soldiers of the New Temple managed to track this small group down, Sanvyn was the only one to escape with his life. Fleeing to neighboring Skyrim, Sanvyn finds a land riven by dragon attacks, vampire attacks and a civil war. Exactly the kind of environment he needs to hide. He finds refuge in the old fortress of Mistwatch, once home to a band of ruthless bandits dedicated to kidnapping and slave-trading, now home to a bandit with vision. Deciding to turn this well-situated fortess into something more, she has made it a center for criminal activity across eastern Skyrim, with connections to the Thieves Guild, other bandit groups, and even the Dark Brotherhood. Offering his services as a mage to this would be 'Bandit Queen' in exchange for refuge, Sanvyn finds himself caught up in a world of cut throat criminal politics, for building anything requires the destruction of something else.
It should be pretty clear in each one who my character is and who yours is (with customization for your character totally okay, as I said above), but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you have your own plot ideas, as I said above, feel free to suggest them. We can talk here in the thread or via PM.
