Dear Father,
I’m writing this to let you know I have made it to the human lands. I wish I could say that I avoided trouble on the way here, but I found immense difficulty in tolerating their company. One man tried to “take me to bed” with him. I caught one woman stealing my money. I even caught a child sleeping under my bed, though I let him off far easier than I did the other two. I know I should have given him a swift punishment, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Human children are so easy to pity, and I found it difficult to punish one who couldn’t even look me in the eye. Does that make me weak?
Despite the minor annoyances, I’ve arrived safely in the port city of Laurencia. As far as I know, no one suspects me of what I am. Everyone here seems so busy all the time, too busy to even pay attention to those around them. I wouldn’t call the humans dumb, but they are far less observant than our own people. They seem to have an inability to care for anyone or anything that isn’t them. If just a single one our own were to act as everyone here does, we would have them branded a problem child in an instant. Yet… Self serving and selfish attitudes seem to be normal here.
I know my mission is to evaluate the defenses and military of the humans, but I think I will take my time. I hope this doesn’t anger you Father, for there is reason to my delay. Studying the humans is something no other dragon has truly done, at least ethically. Of course many of us have taken captives off of human ships and trade caravans, but what I’m doing is different. I’m observing them as they are, with only their own selfish nature as the variable. I will not interfere. It is more than military knowledge that I bring back. I will bring knowledge of what it means to be human. What makes them tick, and how that can be used to our advantage. Trust me Father, it will be well worth the wait.
I have also found myself a guide, at least for this country. He seems to be the only one who even remotely suspects me of being something other than human, yet he is smart enough not to comment on it. Maybe if I take a liking to him, I’ll spare him from this land’s inevitable enslavement. At least, should you be merciful enough to let me.
I don’t have much else to report. I’ve noticed much about how different the lands look from our own, though I know you won’t care for any of it. If I find anything worth sharing, I will be sure to do so in a timely fashion.
Until next time,
Ansel
So... This is my first interest check on here. I think I formatted it right. What I just posted here is a small sample from a story I wrote some time ago, simply called
"I Want to Save You." It was a story set in a pseudo-medieval fantasy world, at least that's the term I use. Weaponry, clothing, and general social status resembles that of the medieval era, yet had some modern technologies like indoor plumbing, showers, sinks, etc.
The story followed a young woman named Ansel and her travels around the world. More specifically, it details how her father, the king, sent her across the world to scope out the human nations and report back to him about their military weaknesses in particular. She does as told, yet she searches for things beside weaknesses. Her own primary goal is to find redeeming qualities in the human race. She travels around, desperately searching for reasons to convince her father not to wipe out the human race. The humans don't know her people exist. IF they were to launch a fullscale assault against humanity, there would be no chance of survival. Her people, whose race will remain secret for storytelling reasons, would show absolutely no mercy.
In the story, she travelled alone for the most part. However, since that doesn't work in a roleplay, I was thinking of giving her a companion. Played by you. This companion can be one of her own people, or it can be a human who decides to travel with her. I'm also up to almost any sort of themes, though I don't really want to do smut. Romance is fine. Anything else is fine really.
That being said, I'm not sure what else to add. If this idea tickles your fancy, be sure to let me know alright?
