yeah, perhaps you could be assigned together in the same patrol from those who meet at the training yard and barracks, once its made apparent how skilled your characters are and that perhaps you could be sent closer to enemy territory than perhaps the greenhorns
Xukhezur's craft immediately slid through the air by means of its auto pilot, up and to his right in response to the attack, as its deflection field, projectile deflector and particle fields worked in tandem to help bend and divert the fireball's trajectory with a combination of gravitational distortions and emitted particles. The fireball veered wide to Xukhezur's left, coming within inches of his craft.

Xukhezur's thoughts then bade the craft to toggle the non-lethal stun modules into effect on its shoulder mounted firearms as they were deployed by its auto gunner to emerge from the robot's frame and train on Jago. Each firearm discharged a brief, coruscating, and somewhat diffuse, laser at the warrior below. Although, Xukhezur guessed that even if they struck the man, he might have the ability to resist or absorb them, given the nature of the fiery aura he was displaying.

While his craft's auto pilot and auto gunner went about their protocols, Xukhezur himself went quickly utilized a metamagically altered infusion to create fully functional protomorphic replicas of some equipment he kept in his protomorphic demiplane. The conjured and temporarily stabilized protomatter conformed and approximated itself to the shape, composition and functions of a compact grenade launcher, which appeared in his armored hands, loaded with a revolving cylindrical magazine filled with six cryonic grenades. However, Xukhezur held off using the device, long enough to observe his opponent's reaction to the initial laser fire.
My Post: Xukhezur spotted Jago down on the arena sands, and decided to get a closer look and to introduce himself. He wasn't sure if the man was up to the task offering a test of his magic and advanced equipment, and doubted that he himself could take the other on without it. Nonetheless, he descended to the sands and stepped out to greet him, coming within several yards. "Hello there, sir. I was hoping to find someone or something capable of withstanding advanced weaponry and potent implements of spellcraft. I'm something of an explorer looking to test and measure my creations against other powerful forces and those who've mastered them. Perhaps you or someone you know has the means of offering me such a test?"

Jago's Post: Jago's brow had risen, the other had approached him in a calm manner his hands remain in the present stance. "You need to look no further, just prepare yourself." He said simply, his fingers stretch only to replace them in the previous position. "You will find that i have mastered the art of hand to hand combat, I have mastered the forces of the spirit. I am nothing more than a monk, i assure you that i am the challenge you seek." He spoke to him, Jago would be the challenge the other he was looking for, technology versus flesh, spell craft against supernatural feats of the spirit. "The question is: Can your creations handle the heat of battle and quench the thirst of my fiery spirit? Can you purge my spirit in the crucible of battle?"

My Post: Xukhezur nodded grimly, with something of a inquisitve gaze. "Well, unless you'd like a demonstration beforehand, I suppose I can be ready whenever you are." he said, shedding his cloak as he swiftly called by means of spellcraft, his robotic power armor to appear in position about his body. The universe of his origin was one where technology and magic prevailed in equal measure, and Xukhezur had the means to craft and utilize devices that reflected both. Once inside his craft, he mentally bade its auto pilot through the neural links, to lift him and itself off the ground by means of the gravity fields produced by craft's induction engine array, to an elevation of about sixty feet off the ground. He waited whilst sliding through the air, see if his opponent possessed any aerial capabilities that might help. Meanwhile, his discarded cloak began to decay into nothing, revealing its protomorphically replicated nature.
This battle will help me keep the rust at bay.
Even if this battle doesn't match up well, I have other characters I can use.
If you guys want to skip ahead, just let me know.

If you skip ahead to when you leave on patrol, you can add stuff like healing potions or wands to your character sheet at a 40% discount.
I'm guessing that the daily wage for a 1st-level warrior acting as a Cloak Wood soldier in pathfinder would be about 1 to 2 gp a day, after providing supplies.
But for you guys, since you come in with your own equipment and all... I'm guessing it could be as high as 0.5% of your wealth per level.

5gp/day @ 2nd level
15gp/day @ 3rd level
30gp/day @ 4th level
52.5gp/day @ 5th level

I just wish there was more information for hirelings.
The man didn't seem too intimidated by the minotaur's presence, and willed himself to shake hands with Sharphorn and his two companions.

"Ah, I should have guessed as much. I believe the daily pay will depend on the various skills you can demonstrate going in, with additional pay for the patrols that provide useful intelligence and those that encounter hostile forces out in the field. After we interview you here, you can go to the northern barracks and the training yard in the fields just outside of town, for the purpose of briefing, sparring, target practice, and fitting for any equipment you wish to purchase at discount. Once we take down your identity and skills, we can copy them into a letter and send that with you to members of Cloak Wood's military council and quartermaster", the man answered.

Unless interrupted, the man would continue.

"Well, if you wish to begin, I believe Lethadius is ready to write down whatever you wish to volunteer. A complete profile of your skills and capacities is a first step, that will help you get appropriate compensation for your service in the town's patrols," He said. The half-elf had already opened a leather bound jacket filled with unused parchment and produced an inkwell and writing stylus to begin writing an account of the trio's visit to the guildhall, with a description of each of them and a quick list of the magic implements they wore. "And besides, with this information on hand, the town of Cloak Wood, the Arcanist League, and perhaps even the trading and shipping guilds might find other opportunities for you in the future."
"Well, since information is already leaking out, I suppose there is no harm in telling you that scrying has revealed increased goblinoid activity in the Blackenspire Mountains to the north. Normally fires like the ones they're gathered around would attract a lot of attention, and that concerns us. Patrols are being formed by will of the town council, to search for and warn of any sign of beings passing too close to town for comfort. If you wish to help in this, I can take down your names and interview you for a little bit while my colleague continues to examine you. If that's something you're interested in?" He said and asked, gesturing to the dark blonde half-elven male wearing goggles and looking on from behind the desk.
The guildhall was a longhouse with several benches pressed up against the walls on either side, under a series of tall narrow windows, behind a few long tables, with a pair of doors and tall cabinets at the far end of the room. A few lightly armored guards with small shields and longswords roamed inside and out, and near the doors at the far end, a couple of unarmored gentlemen behind a small desk off to the left, reading from a few tomes and binders they had retrieved from a couple reinforced small chests stacked behind them. One of them, a relatively nondescript dark-haired blue-eyed human male in a loose fitting gray tunic, brown trousers and boots, looked up as the trio entered. "Hello there, welcome to the Cloak Wood chapter of the Graygaze Arcanist League. How may I help you?" he said as he stepped out from behind the desk to approach and greet them.
Well, if you were caught stealing information, they would likely put you in the stocks for a time until everyone passing by gets a good look at you, but usually it would involve an interrogations and branding or marking you as a spy or thief if they saw fit, perhaps adding something akin to a Dragoneye Rune.

Not sure how far they would go to punish a first time offender, they might put a curse on you that hinders you whenever you're in or near town.
