Current At the age of 30, I got rid of my smart phone and switched back to my flip phone. I've used the same one for the last two years. Battery lasts for a week.

I was told Avengers was mind-blowing, the best Marvel movie to date. I hear some stuff happens that fans are upset about though. That may change things for some people.

Just because I have a Captain America tattoo on my shoulder, that does not mean I'm a manchild. It's my love for juvenile humor and poor decision-making skills that define my manchildness,,,

If you don't like Pinkie Pie as a grown-ass man, then you shut your normie mouth and sit the fuck down.

Bio

I'm 32. Married, 3 kids. I've been roleplaying online since I was 14-ish. Started with chat rooms, then forums in my late teens. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice a few years ago after going back to school online following a disastrous attempt at college (18-20) when I first graduated high school. I spent some time bouncing around crappy jobs, then enlisted in the national guard when I was 22. I deployed to Afghanistan about two and a half years later as an airborne infantryman. I came home in 2011 and bounced around a few jobs. I spent a lot of time working as a security officer for the public school system and mentoring young kids that didn't have much in the way of positive adult male figures in their lives. I'm still enlisted, I now work for the marketing department of an insurance company as I strive to purchase a house.

I like to think I specialize in modern, realistic settings, though I'm open to everything if it catches my interest. I have an enthusiastic interest in most forms of combat and a background in mixed martial arts and self-defense, as well as both the use and construction of firearms. I'm a big comic book enthusiast, particularly a fan of Captain America. I read a lot of Vince Flynn's American Assassin series. I play video games when my family gives me the chance, but nothing very serious. I host Dungeons & Dragons at my house every other Sunday with a handful of friends. If I think of anything else, I probably won't add it, but you can sure ask me about myself anytime you like.

I don't have anything specific in mind, but I have some friends I used to play with that might be able to meet the requirements for this RPG. I was thinking that they might not want to do as much planning and research, but they would be happy to tag-along as a POV player for my group, or, as Raylah said, a loner that gets lucky enough to meet up with a group, or a survivor that somehow gets rescued somewhere along the way.
Super excited to get this kicked off.

... Would a player be able to join and not form a group and play as another primary point of view in the same group as another player?
Okay. The math thing that everyone was talking about made me think that I would need to provide a cost/income analysis for my group.
What was the situation with money and starting equipment? Are we limited to a set number, and do we base the value of our equipment on our best research of real-world cost? This is where I'm a little unsure of how to proceed.
Ugh, double-post. Sorry. Ignore this.

That's the route I've gone down too. Hope it's okay.

I assume these are one and the same. In the real world, some preppers are a little more intense than others, and those are the post-apocalyptic types, with bunkers buried 30 feet under the ground filled with enough preserved food rations to last one hundred years. Other preppers are just former boy scouts that believe in being prepared for the worst, with a few weapons to stave off potential looters in case of a riot and some rations to help survive a period of time without running water or electricity. Most fall into something of a middle ground. My group isn't an apocalypse group, but just one guy who believes in being prepared for a disaster and wants to try to keep his family alive in case something terrible happens. But as @irredeemable noted in the intro, there's just been an overwhelming "feeling" that something terrible is coming, which I used as an excuse for my character to take a few more drastic measures in the last few weeks.
@Raylah I did not realize that, but it makes sense, since a Czech company, CZ, makes some fantastic pistols. But you're right, 7 adults would likely need a much larger store of firearms. The difference between a semi-auto pistol and a revolver might not mean too much for the sake of this RPG and your characters- I don't know your play style. But I figured I'd let you see the differences anyway, because it's a pretty stark contrast. The only thing they have in common is that they are made to be fired in one hand with a small-caliber bullet.

emf-company.com/store/pc/catalog/alch… there's a revolver.

reviewsofthings.com/images-glock/gloc… and there's a Glock 31

If you want some crazy purchases though, we should talk :) With super-rich parents you could justify some toys WAY more fun than some simple M16's and Glocks.

I am aware that I might come off as condescending or snobbish, and if that is the case, I genuinely and profusely apologize. I'm very new here, and I only wish to help and to be an asset to this board and this RPG. With that said, I will no longer comment on your firearms selections, but just know that if you should want anything specific or different, please do not hesitate to contact me.
@Andrew Blade An awesome place to bring 3 children for a weekend - an apartment filled with guns! :D

And as for the question of being in one state or another - Im not from the US, so I dont really know which state is where, but any state where you can have a farm and something grows and isnt winter for 6 months a year is fine for me.

You can have a farm and grow something in every state. Depending on what you're looking for, just about any state south of Missouri should do the trick, climate-wise.

Also, your 10 revolvers aren't revolvers. They're semi-auto pistols. Revolvers are pistols that operate with a rotating cylinder and a hammer-fired system. Glock 31's are striker fired, semi-automatic, polymer-frame pistols known for their reliability. I am interested to see your choice of round was the .357 Sig. It's got more power and penetration than most 9mm and .40 S&W rounds, but it kicks a bit more and it's a bit more expensive.

If you're happy with it, that's awesome. I just didn't know if you knew exactly what you were getting into going with that particular choice. I can give you some other recommendations as well if you want to shoot me a PM.

And to be fair, where the safety of the kids is concerned, all but one of the guns in the home is secured in a locked safe.

@Irredeemable I don't know what I need to know or do like, price-wise for my set-up, but I think I'm set if there isn't anything else that needs approved or adjusted. And while you say I have a lot of guns, I only count 14- Raylah has me beat in just rifles and pistols :P
@Sierra

Due to technological magic, all radios work over the entire continent of North America, and I didn't want to restrict people to a state, because having a wider variety of states means more factions, different environments and more to write about.

Different states have a variety of weird gun laws too. If anyone wants to know which ones would be legal to purchase/own in a specific state, let me know and I can answer those questions to the best of my ability.

For the purposes of interaction with others, it may be worth picking one of the midwestern states and making that decision at the GM level ... lest people be spread across two time zones.

I was gonna say Nebraska anyway :)
