The envelope itself is rather unremarkable, it was a plain white, with black ink decorating the plain paper with messy handwriting that has the name "Matthew Layton" on the front. Within the envelope, the handwriting isn't much better, but they're small drawings of Pokemon on the sides of the text, and there's a detailed sketch of a Butterfree on the back of the paper. Although drawn with black ink, they all look realistic and well drawn, showing off the talent of the writer/artist.
Greeting Professor Juniper,
My name is Matthew Layton, I'm 16 years old. I currently live in Ecruteak City, with my Grandmother and Mother, but I am willing to travel all the way to New Bark Town to become a Pokemon Trainer, as it is a great opportunity for me. (The first drawing on the margins is a Clefairy waving at the reader) I may lack the experience of Pokemon Training, but I am willing to learn how. Being a Pokemon Trainer would go a great way to help me become a better artist, which is what I aspire to be. To be an artist. But with my current life, I lack the muse and inspiration to draw anything more than small doodles on the margin of my homework at school. But when I heard of you calling for people to go and become Pokemon Trainer, I was inspired for the first time in a long time to draw my Grandmother's Butterfree which you could see on the back of this page. If just hearing about the opportunity to become a Trainer inspired me to draw, I can't imagine what being on the routes with a Pokemon next to me will do! (The second drawing is a cartoon of Matthew clasping his hands together in a begging manner.)
But besides my love of drawing, I care deeply for Pokemon. I help take care of my Grandmother's team, like feeding them, washing and cleaning up after them, and taking them to the Pokemon center when they get hurt. My Grandmother and my Mother used to be Pokemon Trainers, I always looked up to them, and I loved hearing their stories of their Trainer days, I always wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer when I was a kid, but I never had the opportunity before now. And being a Pokemon trainer will not only let me live my childhood dream, but I can feel it will help me with my future dreams of becoming an artist. But I feel this letter has taken enough of your time, I just hope you consider me to become a Pokemon trainer, it would do me the world if you picked me to be a trainer. But that's up to you and I will wait for your response. Thank you kindly for your time and hopefully your consideration.
I'm actually really happy this is a thing; I had a character I worked really hard on who barely saw the light of day in the last RWBY RP he was in. I'm going to recycle him, if that's okay?
Daedalus Ivory
Age:
2117
Gender:
Male
Race:
Faunus (Elephant traits)
Appearance:
Daedalus stands at an impressive 6"8' with a very broad, muscular physiche. Years in the harsh Vacuo sun has given his skin a deep olive complexion, which despite his age has weathered to give a subtle hide-like texture. His eyes are a mixture of brown and gold, while his face is long and square-jawed. In terms of hair, Daedalus' head is covered in long brown locks while his face sports a short and well-kept beard. Other than his size, Daedalus' major Faunus features are the two large bone-white tusks that protrude from his face. His clothing style could only be described as 'rugged', usually favouring sturdy working or exploring clothes over more formal attire.
Nationality:
Vacuo
Personality:
Daedalus prides himself on his compassion and determination - his family taught him the values of hard work and of humility, especially in the face of great hardship. As a result most people who meet him know him as a big softie, always friendly and jovial. Although possessing incredible aptitude for combat in the field, Daedalus only ever resorts to fighting when all other avenues have been exhausted. This occasionally gets him into trouble, as less charitable folks tend to take advantage of his kind-hearted nature.
History:
Even though the Faunus Rights Wars ended long ago, the scars of conflict refuse to heal. This was was blatantly apparent throughout his childhood to Daedalus, whose family experienced racial trauma for much of their lives.
Having been shut out of much of the job market due to their Faunus heritage, the Ivory family worked as a team of builders and labourers - it was difficult and physically demanding work, but it was an honest living and it kept a roof over their heads and food on the table. His parents, Metion and Europa, maintained extensive ties to the local chapter of the White Fang for years and would often take Daedalus and his younger brother Perdix to meetings and rallies.
For much of his schooling at Oasis Academy in Vacuo, Daedalus had few friends outside a handful of other Faunus and was often the object of ridicule by his Human peers. Many days were spent alone, hiding away in secluded areas to avoid the constant taunting and abuse from Felix Princeton, the local bully, and wishing for the day that the White Fang's dreams for peace would become a reality.
When Perdix eventually started out at Oasis, he vowed to him that he would protect him at all costs - like the Hunters and Huntresses from the White Fang did for all Faunuskind. This quickly led to trouble, as Daedalus became increasingly involved in fights and scuffles in the Academy.
It was after class one day when Felix and his crew cornered Perdix and began to torment him. Daedalus was busy finishing a prototype weapon for a school project and didn't even realize what was happening until half an hour later when he found Perdix, cut and bruised, crying out front of the Academy.
Feeling upset that his older brother broke his promise to protect him, Perdix ran into a nearby canyon and hid in the adjoining caves. What Perdix and Daedalus didn't know was that the caves were a nesting ground for the creatures of Grimm, and that Perdix's sadness had awoken the usually dormant beasts.
When Daedalus finally found him, Perdix had been bitten several times by a Taijitu and was rapidly losing blood. With his gauntlets, he was able to hold off the Taijitu and protect his brother long enough for a passing Hunter to arrive and slay the beast - but sadly it was too late. Perdix succumbed to his injuries and the Ivory family was left broken.
Then the rumours began. Felix began to spread stories around the Academy that Daedalus had killed his brother. That he and his family were just animals with no conscience. That one less Faunus in Remnant was a step closer to a perfect society. Many of the humans at Oasis started to shun Daedalus more than usual - they whispered in the halls as he walked by and avoided getting too close lest they end up like Perdix.
The story of Perdix quickly became a point of contention for the regional White Fang and sparked a surge in retributive rhetoric led by the more violent factions in the organisation. The usually peaceful meetings became divisive, with calls from the more militaristic elements for Faunus to take up arms and form militias against Humankind.
Daedalus, in his grief-stricken state, took this violent ideology to heart and sought vengeance for his brother. He cornered Felix on his way to class and beat him savagely, only stopping when the teachers managed to restrain him. He was suspended from the Academy for several months.
For his parents, the suspension was not just terrifying sign of their son's impressionable nature but also of the dangerous path the White Fang had begun to tread. They immediately cut ties with the organisation and spent Daedalus' time away from Oasis teaching, reminding and instilling in him the morals at the old White Fang's core: Humility, respect, charity, peace, and most importantly of all, mercy.
Daedalus returned to Oasis a changed man. No longer was he violent and vindictive; rather peaceful and forgiving. He completed the last of his senior year and graduated from Oasis, securing a place at Vacuo's prestigious Shade Academy.
Being so far away from home, Shade was like a new start for Daedalus. The large mixture of both Human and Faunus students from across the kingdom meant that prejudice against Faunuskind was not anywhere near as fierce as it was back home, and the distance meant that he was able to leave many of his regrets and mistakes far, far behind him.
With no-one possessing preconceptions about who he was or what he'd done, he was able to make friends and quickly gained a reputation as the go-to man if you needed someone to help out or talk to. He excelled in practical examinations and quickly found himself amongst the top ranks at Shade.
But despite his newfound success, he never truly forgot or let go of what happened back at home. Deep down he continued to blame himself for the death of his brother, and it drove him harder than ever to protect those who couldn't protect themselves.
Weapon:
Fervent Sentinel - Massive gauntlets that cover Daedalus' entire lower arms, with contoured guards that allow him to deflect blows away from his body. The left forearm features a concealed buckler that can extend and retract at will, while the right forearm has a blaster with two ammo types: dust-infused crossbow bolts, or darts tipped with various serums (these darts could theoretically be lethal, but Daedalus only carries non-lethal rounds). It can chamber 8 rounds of either at a time, but requires time to reload or change ammunition types.
Semblance:
Daedalus' semblance turns his aura and body as hard as stone, giving him an incredible boost to his strength and fortitude. The drawback of this is that he loses most of his agility and becomes slow, and maintaining this state for extended periods of time requires intense mental and physical exertion.
Strengths:
Daedalus finds it easy to make friends and is great at thinking on his feet and coming up with practical solutions for practical problems. He often goes out of his way for others, even those he's never met. He also holds the current Shade student record for the most amount of peanuts eaten at once: One hundred and fourteen.
Weaknesses:
Daedalus' size makes him slow, noisy, and an easy target for attackers; while his almost pathological need to see the good in others is easily exploitable by those with Machiavellian inclinations. While not unintelligent, Daedalus works very much in the realm of the practical so the complexity of things like academia, high society and battle tactics are usually lost on him. Oh, and the irrational fear of mice doesn't exactly help either.
Relationships:
TBA
Fears:
Being a social pariah, hurting those closest to him, not being able to protect the innocent, broken promises, death... And mice
Aspiration:
Daedalus became a Hunter in order to help the innocent and the incapable, and keep the peace across Remnant. Deep down though, his desire to join Shade Academy stemmed from his experiences of racism as a Faunus, and a subconscious need to not only be accepted by society but to also prove that Faunuskind aren't 'The Bad Guys' through his actions.
Ethics:
Daedalus' approach to most things in life is usually 'Ask questions first, shoot later'. He believes that there is honour in kindness, especially when extended to one's foes. Violence should only ever be used as a last resort, and even then only enough to gain and maintain the upper hand - never more. His actions are shaped by what he believes will be the most help and provide the most joy and support to those around him.
Combat Style:
Daedalus' fighting style is largely defensive. With a firmly planted stance, he uses his gauntlets to deflect attacks and fatigue any would-be assailants, while looking for openings to strike his foes with devastatingly strong blows - the intention being either disarming or incapacitating the enemy. At range, he prefers the use of ammunition that would put to sleep or trap enemies rather than kill them.
Miscellaneous:
Daedalus carries a worn family photo with him everywhere. It helps to keep him grounded and reminds him of who he's fighting for.
Daedalus so far sounds like a cool character~ I hope Daedalus and Ignatius end up on the same team~ Ig and Dae need to form an ex-white fang group together~

Anna was born in 1967 in Ashenport. Her father was a Bookkeeper for Ashenport's Hotel. Anna remembers many incidents as a child, mostly fueled by racism, Anna doesn't like to talk about the darker aspects of her childhood. But the Smith's were a loving and supporting family, Anna remembers her father to keep moving forward and rise above the people who wishes to watch her fall. Anna kept her father's words close to her heart. When she was of age she moved out of Ashenport with her sister and moved to the nearest city where she can make a name for herself as a lawyer. Once she got her law degree at 22 she came back to Ashenport and started to work as a local law consultant for the then mayor. Over many years Anna went up the admittedly small ranks of Ashenport politics, Soon enough she became the mayor's assist when she was 28. for the next 15 years, many considered her the brains of all the previous mayors as many of them were elected but had little experience for leadership.
Six years ago, Anna was finally voted in as mayor, she's considered one of the best mayors the town had in decades. For the next years, she worked hard and dutifully, she didn't even her parent's failing health until her mother was sent off to the hospital for a heart attack and his father was sent to the nearest old folk's home after dementia started to kick in. But even with the death of her mother and the failing health of her father Anna kept moving forward since she knew her parents wouldn't want her to fall apart due to them. It has been a year since then, now she has been trying her best to deal with the only problem with the town had, the drunkard.
Anna's fear is brutality and the inability to converse her way out of trouble. Her biggest nightmares are huge hulking creatures under white robes, with faces too mutilated to be human and hands bloodied and broken beyond recondition. They don't talk, they don't reason, they only wish for deaths of those they deem need to be destroyed, and Anna is just that. Sometimes Anna can swear she sees flashes of white among the green of the trees, but she always assume it the stress of work making her see things. If only she knew.

@Savo So does their first name have to relate to a colour, or is it the full name?
The color naming convention is for any part of the name, most of the time it's both first and last name, sometimes it's only the first name, sometimes it's the last it doesn't matter as long as there's a color inspired name in there somewhere~
Ignatuis is a flirty and charming young man. At times Ignatius can be rather perverted and filthy minded as he sometimes makes lewd comments and jokes at friends. But if his jokes make others uncomfortable he is more than willing to stop making them if somebody asks him to, as he is a very considerate person. Ignatius believes wholeheartedly in that all people should be respected at the very start until they give a reason why they shouldn't be respected, after that he is not scared to point out their flaws, mistakes, and dismantle their words and beliefs to prove a point. Ignatius could be considered world-weary as he has strived for years for equal rights for Faunus and was even a member of the white fang at a time to no avail. But Ignatius found their tactics barbaric and could not stand their methods anymore and left them before they became a known terrorist cell, but ever since then, Ignatius still does his best to be optimistic, but the world keeps giving him a hard time to be trusting and kind to others. Currently, he tries to give off an air of a casual playboy, but no matter what his real personality as a champion of justice always pop up and ruins his casual facade.
In Combat, Ignatius is not very different, he is still an alluring and eye-catching fighter, fighting with elegance and grace that should belong to a dancer than a warrior.
History:
Ignatuis is a former slave from rural Vacuo, he never knew his parents or if he even had family beyond them. From a young age, Ignatius was groomed to be the perfect entertainer for his master, being taught to dance and sing at a young age. For a time Ignatius only knew imprisonment and entertaining others through dance. That is. Until he a group of White Fang operatives dismantled the Faunus Slave route in Vacuo, once the White Fang freed him he finally learned things outside of imprisonment and his dance hall. Once he felt the sun touch his skin for the first time he desired to follow in his rescuer's path. Which lasted for a few years, at which times he stabilized his life by getting a small house in Vale and started to train with the White Fang, but not long after training with the White Fang he began to have doubts with the organization when they began to do dubious acts bordering on terrorism. After an argument with one of his superiors, Ignatius, left the White Fang and decided to become a Huntsmen instead, using his training to use.
Ignatius started out at Signal Academy, making a name for himself as a powerful, yet hard to control warrior. During his time at Signal, he had a few relationships with boys and girls, but none of them were meaningful, and it was more to experience freedom on his terms. At Signal he was known as a promiscuous boy. Ignatius had a few close friends, some were exes, some were just classmates he befriended. But while he seemed to be an open book he kept many secret from his classmates, like the fact Ignatius used to be a slave or that he was a White Fang. Although he an air of a casual playboy he got into many arguments and fights due to his deep-seated belief in Faunus rights.
After two years at Signal Ignatius got accepted into Beacon Academy with a few recommendations from his Teachers. Ever since Ignatius surivied the attack on Beacon, he's been helping with the recovery progress, but with the White Fang attacking and his past being figured out he wondered if he should return to Vacuo and continue his Huntsmen education there. But it's up in the air until he figures out what to do.
Weapons:
Alluring Flame - A seemingly Simple Lance, but in reality it is a focus for his Semblance, as it can ignite and control the flow of the flames with the ribbons just below the blade, giving him further range and protection from melee attacks.
Semblance:
Fire Manipulation - Ignatuis can create, shape and manipulate fire like a Firebender in Avatar. It is a simple but practical ability.
Strengths:
- Ignatius is an agile and limber combatant able to dodge attacks quickly.
- Ignatius is a skilled fighter, whose able to overwhelm and confuse enemies with his fluid movements and Semblance.
- Ignatius can create flames that can cover entire battlefield with enough focus and energy
- Ignatius's Semblance is powerful, dangerous, and quick
Weaknesses:
- Ignatius is relatively weak without his Semblance
- Ignatius is not the toughest fighter around, faltering at only a few direct hits even with full aura
- Rain or Snow can weaken his Semblance, and he needs to heighten his focus to power up his Semblance accordingly
- Ignatius' Semblance is as dangerous to allies as much as to enemies, which also leads to collateral damage

Other:
Ignatius, like in his history is an excellent dancer.
