Bio

Hello all who have deigned to grace my profile with their presence! I am the great Arrayah, lord of the Phoenix. Or something. I don't know.

Anyways, bio. As of writing this, I am a 23 year old female. I am married. I own two dogs (a Dalmatian and a Labrador... so cliche). I work from home. I like crafty stuff and games. I used to be an MMORPG girl, but have since moved on to things like Minecraft and Ark as well as Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress. Who knows what's next?

I love writing, but only get to roleplaying a few times every couple years. Unfortunately, life gets in the way. I'm starting to have more time lately, and thought it'd be fine to start it up again. We'll see how it goes, but hopefully I stick around this time.

I was on the old RPGuild, so you may recognize my name. If so, hello again! If not, maybe we'll have lots of fun together. If I've been online recently, and you're interested in doing an RP, feel free to PM me. I'm almost always interested in 1x1s as long as I don't have too many going on. Check some of my old threads to see my rules, or pm me if that's too much hassle.

Long live the Phoenix Queen. Or something or other.

Wow. I saw the interest check and I think I'm interested in this, but that's a lot of reading to do x.x

Anyways, if I do make a character, I would like her to be the green king if that's alright? :D

If so, I'll get a CS done and maybe post some questions about it.

Oh and also hey Windel! (Just noticed you were the GM)
This sounds awesome but I'll have to take a look at the OOC as well.
Long ago, all people of the country Paik lived together harmonously. It is not known why they later split up into factions, only that they did. The Vasi records indicate that it was the fault of the Tuli, and vice versa. Each faction has a different version of history, but all agree on one thing: The Vari and some other family waged war against the rest of the country causing a great rift that could never be repaired.

Now, centuries later, the factions are large kingdoms. They do not interact with each other except for once every twenty-five years when the battle takes pace. Each generation, a Volur is chosen to compete for glory and respect. These men and women almost always come from the royal family, but this Volur is always the most talented element user in the kingdom. Though sometimes there are casualties, the battle is not to the death, and the winner is named the Volukun. He or she is allowed to travel to any kingdom they wish with no repercussions. They are celebrated and remembered by their people as a hero.

The battle will be held in just a few days, the Volur have been chosen and are being prepared. Everything seems to be going as planned. This year, though, the Vari have something in mind that will change the rules of the game. This year, they plan to finish what they started all those years ago. This year, the Volur will die, even if they are unaware.

Okay! So, just in case that wasn't very clear, the kingdoms are based off of elements. Each one has a different element that they use (i.e. fire, water, air, etc) and they do not use any other. The kingdoms are named after the royal family (Vari, Tuli, Vesi, etc) that rules it and every generation or so they hold a competition to decide who has the best magic users. There are a few terms to remember:

- Magi : Anyone who can use an element
- Volur : Chosen from the magi to compete in the battle
- Volukin : A previous winner of the battle

The story starts a few days before the battle with everyone getting ready. Don't worry, this will only be the intro post to help give a bit of background on each of your characters before they are thrown against each other. Normally, they would be battling each other, but shortly after they arrive in the so-called "arena" (which I will describe in MY posts) the Vari kingdom will start attacking your characters. They have sent more than just a Volur to the battle and plan to kill each and every competitor before continuing on to the kingdoms themselves.

I expect there to be friendships, alliances, enemies, and any other kind of relationship you can think of. Any element that is directly opposite of another (fire and water for example) will be enemies because their history books will blame the other for the war that split the country.

Okay, so, here are a few examples of elements and their family names that you can choose. Please keep in mind that while you may choose an element that is not here, the name is up to me. I have a specific system for it, so keep that blank until I give it to you. Also, I will be playing the Volur from the water kingdom and the shadow kingdom. You may of course write attacks into your post, but in general I will be doing that.

Elements:
Water - Vesi
Fire - Tuli
Air - Ohk
Earth - Maa
Shadow - Vari
Light - Valgus

If there's interest I will post an OOC soon so that characters can be made! Just in case, I will post the CS Skeleton so that you can get an idea.

I may add more to the CS when I make the OOC, but I'm not sure.
Alright!

The post took longer than I thought, but I'm in the last month or so of my semester so things are getting kind of crazy. As such, I will be trying to not procrastinate anymore - so that I can actually post in a timely manner. We'll so how it goes. I suspect not well!
The song was one that even Ignia could enjoy, though she could never really remember a time when she had been allowed to dance around a fire in some small town. It did not matter, though, because she could imagine it. It was calming in a way, to be able to pretend she was performing for fun and not by orders. Like the first song, she let the music guide her in a way most would never understand. It was a common question that was asked for the hour or so that Octave allowed her to talk to guests: "How do you do it?" It was also a question that Ignia would never be able to answer. Lately, she'd taken to just telling them that it was in her blood. The country of her birth was well known for its talented dancers. It was only natural that she grow up to be one too. Despite herself, a smile made its way to Ignia's lips as she lost herself to the music that was playing all around her.

Octave, on the other hand, was seething despite the calm appearance he displayed. The musician, he could do nothing about, as she was hired by contract. His slave, however, would be easy enough to punish for the embarrassment that he was sure she'd done on purpose. He was so distracted, thinking of how to do just that, that he almost missed when a certain spy came to stand beside him. For anyone else, what information this man had would be more important than an inappropriate song that people were barely reacting to. For Octave, someone who cared about appearance above all else, this was not the case. He motioned to Raime, indicating that he should follow as Octave stomped across the floor towards the dais that Ignia was dismounting.

So distracted by her own thoughts, the demon girl had not seen him coming. More importantly, she had not had a chance to turn and run. It would have been unseemly, and probably would have gotten her a worse beating later, but it was an instinct that she could not suppress. As it was, Ignia did not even know he was there until he grabbed her arm harshly and began to drag her away. The point he was trying to make came across clear as day. He was letting everyone at that party know that he could control any slave, even the one that many of them feared. More so, he was using Ignia as an example of what happened to people who embarrassed him. Perhaps next he would sick his guards on the musician. It would be a fitting punishment.

As for Ignia herself, she was just trying to keep the panic off her face. It was not like her to be scared of Octave as he was more bark than bite, but the look on his face told her that this time she had committed a great crime against him. This one had been in public, and it would likely drive some people away from the party, something that was the exact opposite of what Octave wanted. So, as he threw her through a door and into a hallway, she knew that something bad was coming for her. Even so, her curiosity got the better of her as she stared at the man following her master. It was not someone she'd seen before.

As if reading her mind, Octave turned to address this man. "Tell me what it is you must and then leave."
A deep blush colored Kiara's cheeks as soon as the word magic was used. Another thing she was always disappointing her mother in. It was said that long ago when the Astoran's allowed the elves to live in the country as equals, they brought magic with them. The royal family were the first to learn, and therefore were supposed to be very skilled at it. Later, it was also taught to the people, though some secrets still stayed with the Astoran nobles. Magic showed a great intelligence or wisdom to the people in her country, as not everyone could learn. It was not very well known that she was absolutely terrible at it. Like anything that required patience and thinking - besides her bow and arrow - Kiara had a hard time with spells and enchantments. Her mother was convinced that it was because she did not want to learn, but the princess was sure that it was more because she was not meant for it. Fate, destiny, whatever it was called had led her to this place, and perhaps it was the reason she was born to be who she was: terrible at everything associated with Astora.

As always, she kept these thoughts to herself as the blush finally calmed and her skin returned to its normal color. "No. I will not be using magic. I uh..." Should she tell him about her failure at it? He might understand, after all, since he was not very skilled with a weapon. Kiara shook her head lightly, deciding against it. She might very well need him to think that she could burn him to a crisp one day.

"You men and your imaginations. You're missing the most obvious and easiest way to disguise yourself: makeup. I can easily shade my skin. I might even dye my hair if I don't feel like wearing the scarf around it. The eyes will be harder, but I suppose if everything else looks right, most people won't notice them, yes?" Her laughter was barely audible as she continued to think of what she would do in the morning to get ready for their 'adventure'. It was always entertaining that men never knew what a little paint could do on someone. Normally, Kiara would not be caught dead in any kind of beauty product - at least not anymore - but this was an exception. Everything had its uses, though she was sure no one had done this before.
Siiigh. Sorry. School is getting crazy lately, so I'll be posting maybe twice a week. Hopefully more, but that's what its looking like.

I met a couple of mine that way. This guy actually sits next to me in class and invited me out. It was the first time it ever happened to me :o

I'm the kind of awkward person who can't look people in the eyes, so I feel you.
