(OOC: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/80104-the-necromancers-curse/ooc

Thirty years ago, a great war erupted between the many races on planet Asteria. A bloody battle on both sides that was dragged out for a few years before an almost immediate peace happened overnight. The cause was a massive blast of black magical energy from the north. A necromancer who refers to herself as Lady Vivian unleashed a primal and forbidden magic that ripped the magic from all beings over almost the entire continent to power a curse of monumental proportions. Those with low magical abilities would lose their magic completely and become cursed by the lingering magic, others would find the magic had very jarring side effects. To make things worse, the power was used to raise a massive army of undead, enough to threaten all of civilization with seemingly every intent to destroy it. From this day on, every body would raise as undead within 48 hours.

Thirty years later, the truce remains and a valiant effort of all races has pushed back the undead to a more manageable state, the heaviest undead activity now in the north. 2 Cities have fallen (North of course) and have been converted into massive undead fortresses. Most races now live together in guarded settlements in an uneasy peace.

---

This RP will be about the merging of fantasy races in this situation. PC's will either be going into northern territories to try and scout and figure out what Vivian is up to, or will simply trying to deal with the rather sudden melting pot of races and troublesome factions in the city

Stronger races, such as dragons have been hit hard. Being heavily magical, their very form has been sapped, shrinking the largest of dragons down to the size of a horse and greatly weakening them. In order to survive now, they must depend on other races. The are however one of the few races left with any real magical abilities, however culture and once powerful forms never gave their race much experience in war tactics or working together against foes. Also, as a race, dragons have never really had the population to fight an army at their new size. However, they still retain their natural armor-like scales, natural fire breath (Very effective against undead I will add), and have a moderate amount of magical ability left.

Humans are in a rather interesting state. Being able to take a dragon in a one on one fight is quite nice, but they now have to live without magic. Fortunately, their large numbers, standing army, and tactical war knowledge have allowed them to keep their cities under control while many other races have been forced to become refugees in them. Humans are well know for being very adaptable and inventive, so of course without magic and all these races to pull knowledge from their whole civilization has been advancing quite quickly. Powerful new weaponry for combating undead has already been developed. With a magical races help these can also be enchanted. Experimental firearms that use black powder are also starting to make rare appearances on the field.

Since it's 30 years, there are still many war veterans that don't exactly get along with eachother, but there's also a generation from each race that has been born and raised in the mixed society.

Note: I focus on dragons here, but I can work any desired fantasy race into the plot, as long as they're intelligent. They will of course be nerfed by the curse in some way. You

This should be enough to gauge interest, I'll go into deeper details on the various factions, cities, history, and undead in the ooc if I get some people interested in playing.
Still here, just quietly checking daily for developments.
My significance's picture is "Coming soon" because i'll probably have to attempt to draw it myself.
(Picture coming soon)
Resembles a fuzzy black and purple wyvern with blue tipped glowing whiskers. Approximately the size of a large dog.

Name: Karu

Species: Dream Eater

Gender: Male

Personality: A youthful and almost childlike demeanor. He (rather expectantly) takes fascination in even the most mundane of technologies, coming from a background of only know magic and dreams of said magical creatures. Besides that he is kind, caring, shy, and rather flighty. He is considered a prey species in terms of magical creatures, so he habitually tries to keep himself unnoticed. He has a couple prideful traits once he warms up to a person though.

Abilities (Spirit Form abilities): He can regain energy by consuming someone’s dream, a harmless process. However, he can summon elements of the dreams he’s consumed as illusions to confuse and divert foes, or scare the heck out of them with nightmarish creatures. It’s also very handy for playing pranks on people or creating props for a story.

Significant: TBD

Weapon Form appearance:

It tends to emit a dreamlike cloudy mist as a trail.

Abilities (Weapon Form abilities):
Similar to his spirit form, the wielder of the staff can summon aspects of their own dreams into existence, however, these manifestations are actually physical briefly, allowing them to damage a foe before shattering. They will shatter shortly after any force (besides those coming from the staff wielder) is applied to it making the manifestations able to stop most bullets but completely ineffective against melee weapons that have force behind them. For example, a bullet would bounce of a shield, causing it to shatter, while a sword would still have force behind it after it shatters, allowing the strike to follow through.

The amount of manifestations able to be maintained is dependent on the bond between the wielder and the weapon, all manifestation immediately fizzle if the staff become separated from the wielder or the wielder is incapacitated.

The staff itself is extremely durable, and Karu is able to speak through it while in staff form, and will certainly complain if used to block an attack. Also may throw a fit if used to poke things from a distance or as a doorstop. In terms of awareness he is able to see through the wielder’s eyes.

Due to the nature of the staff, projectiles (which can be shot out from the staff) and thrown weapons are highly recommended uses of the manifestation power. Guns can also fire one bullet before shattering from recoil.
Oh, I wanted to play a significance. Will have a character sheet up soon.
I'm interested in playing a significance or a pair.
After bumbling around the campus for a while figuring out how to read the map Karu had gone to chose a room. Of course he had picked one on the ground floor, the dragon not really understanding the elevator all to well. His room was rather large for a small dragon like him, but he really had nothing to put in it. All he had brought was a blanket and some notebooks after all. The notebooks were put on a shelf and the blanket on the bed and he was good for sleeping! His room had all sorts of things he didn't understand, and he spent a bit messing with various switches, particularly impressed with the light switch.

After he finally settled down he slept rather soundly, not having an alarm and not setting one, but fortunately being sensitive to sound enough to here the shuffling of his neighbors and their alarms going off, so he was up quite early to get his breakfast. He of course chose his favorite food: fruit. More interesting was the blend of earth fruits he had never tasted before that left him in quite a good mood when he finally did go to class.

He, of course, could not figure out the door, waiting for another early bird student to walk in before him before figuring it out. He took a seat near the window, though a little close to the front of the room, notebooks floating into place as he seemed quite eager to learn things, his teachings not very thorough back home. He couldn't sit normally in the chair, but managed to sit in it using the desk as support for his fores, which was fine because he wrote with his telekinetic magic, pencil at the ready floating next to him.

When it was his turn to speak he hopped up on the desk with a short flap of his sparkling wings, the small dragon would have probably been unnoticeable anywhere else. “I'm Karu.” he said cheerfully, looking around the room a little bit. “I'm a fae dragon, and probably one of the very few of my species that will willingly talk to other sentients, so it's good to meet you all.” he said, tail flicking a little, seemingly enjoying being the center of attention for the moment before hopping back down to the chair and stumbling right out of it on to the floor. “Heh, whoops.” he said, a little embarrassed as he quickly got back in to the seat.
Once Karu had calmed down he focused more on the following the message. There was of course some sort of magical snow war going on, but magic did not really bother him. The cold air was much more troublesome despite his magical warmth, so he snuck around the outskirts of the fight toward the assembly. It was hard to see around the other students with him only coming up to mosts people's waists, so he had to levitate himself up a little with wings lazily and slowly moving out of habit.

He was a little surprised that the headmaster was a talking gemstone, but he really was not bothered by it. He was more concerned about the danger, and finding a partner for the academy's activities. He was quite good at keeping alive himself, but he was not exactly the most experienced in combat. Magic was as easy as breathing for him though, so he was sure that could be useful! The rest of the speech was not as interesting, he'd seen rocks do plenty of things back on Lucis, a headmaster rock was surprising and had a rather odd attitude, but he was more concerned with what he was going to do after the speech.

After they were dismissed, he had finally decided what he wanted to do. Having skipped breakfast in his anxiousness about leaving home, he wanted to hunt down some food. Unfortunately, there was snow outside, so scavenging it up himself was probably out of the question. Fortunately, as he walked out into the next hall his small bundle of notebooks in a blanket floating next to him, he came across Chris asking if anyone needed help.

The fae dragon hesitated at first, the student was clearly from earth and seemed to be merged with some of the earth technology, but the man had possibly the least threatening stance he'd seen in a while. He worked up the courage to approach him though, food was a very good motivator after all. “Excuse me. Do you know where I can get some food? I've never been in a big place like this before and I've never been good at understanding maps.” he asked, having to look far up with his size.
I'm still under the impression that there are no actual casual players left in the casual section. I rarely see posts under a page in length. I guess my tastes are the same as all the wordy people. I'd love to be able to be in more than one rp at a time.
Heads up that I've updated my character image, my futile attempts to find something colorful with antennae were derailed by the extremely magical looking one now in the profile.
I've also switched from second to first year. Mostly so Karu could cower in fear from evil scary earth technology since that's one of his more interesting quirks.
