Bio

I won't write much here.

  • I teach violin for a living. And I'm not taking on any new students right now.
  • I'm romantically involved.
  • Most of my statuses will be about the above two, venting or gloating. Unless something addresses you directly, it's not about you.
  • I don't feel comfortable saying my age, but if you're really that concerned, I'm the same age as Shostakovich was when he wrote his most ridiculous opera.
  • I am a fan of the Wheel of Time, and am working on an RP which will take place during the Trolloc Wars. If you're interested, join. Note that even people who have no idea what on earth WoT is can participate in the thing.
  • I am from and currently live in Charleston. I can see the Two Rivers from my doorstep.
  • I am currently unable to type properly, so I apologize for that. It will make a lot of my responses late, and has already caused a lot of my responses to be late. I have semi permanent splints on my pinkies and thumbs: silverringsplint.com
    • I will try to respond IC on time in all of my RP's, however, until my finger issues are resolved, the OOC and PMs may be late, by days... or weeks. Sorry.

@Lucky Knight One of the few restrictions for characters is that if you are a warder, you must have an Aes Sedai. Losing them would be too unbearable, perhaps even worse than how one feels after being gentled.

Having an abundance of Aes Sedai and warders is fine, but it would be much better if we could have some diversity. If we could have a Green Ajah commander to control the Aes Sedai forces alongside a Dreadlord to control some Shadow forces, for example, then the battles will be a lot less one sided. Otherwise, every single battle will be PC's vs. GM's, which will get boring very quickly.

Other factions one could control include:

- Any other nation's forces
- Aiel
- Heck, even Seanchan
- Another Ajah (primarily Red or Blue)
- Secret Dark friends
- The Black Ajah
@Sergeant I can't get the search function to work on my phone, and my computer will be out of commission for a few days. Network issues. Good idea, though.
@Dinh AaronMk Because of your signature, I read every post you make as though it's being screamed by Mr. Ed.
Just boosting this- If you guys know of anyone on the site who loves the Wheel of Time, please mention this to them! I'd like to have a fairly decent amount of interest before posting the OOC.
Central City

Black skirts swirling around her feet in a colossal mess of fabric, Olivia walked in the direction of her thief. Not in a hurry, nor at leisure, she grasped the front of her skirts to hold them out of the way of her feet. She pushed herself forward, annoyed now, having passed her preferred destination several blocks back.

After several minutes of trying not to run, she slowed. The thief was out of eyeshot now, the alley he had hidden inside empty. However, others were huddled together in the area. Taking a step backward, Olivia noticed the building beside the alleyway, and the establishment's purpose. About six of its resident whores stood, shivering and shocked. None spoke, their eyes and minds filled with terror and sadness, the sort that Olivia could recognize in anyone. That horror which pervades the heart, of seeing a friend perish.

The oldest seemed in a better state of mind than the others. Still clutching her shawl with blistered, pale fingers, eyes wide and lips trembling, she was able to stand straight, supporting two of the other girls. They could not have been older than twenty- the youngest, barely fourteen. Olivia felt for her purse, and at the realization that she could not help, became increasingly irritated. Still, though it was not much, she sought some way to aid the girls.

Approaching the cluster cautiously, Olivia knelt by the youngest. Brushing the matted hair from the girl's eyes, she offered a sympathetic smile, and a hand. The girl stared, not knowing who the stranger was. Olivia reached up, and took off her own scarf- it was not doing much good as a fashion accessory, anyways- and wrapped it over the girl's shoulders. Standing again, she kept walking. She needed to know what caused their distress.

A few men were talking- two distinct voices, in low tones, just soft enough that she could not understand the conversation. Straining to hear, Olivia crept forward with caution and curiosity filling her head with outlandish suggestions. She rounded the corner, unsure of what to expect. There was no warning when she saw the blood.

She had seen blood before, every woman has, she more than most, but never in such a decidedly messy manner. The girl's face, petrified in such an awful expression, her throat sunken and split, her eyes staring into an empty sky, added up to an incredible image of horror. This was like nothing she had seen before. She had heard the rumors, the stories of a butcher on the streets, warnings to the women who walked in the night. She had dismissed these as idle fantasies of sick minds, yet had entertained the thought in her own human way. But in her mind, the scene she had imagined had been much less... intimate.

Olivia let out a shriek, on impulse, hands shooting upwards to cover her scream. It was short, but enough to draw attention. She stumbled backwards a few steps, trying not to let the shock take over her senses completely. She could not even see the officers. The only thing she could focus on was the blood, the intensity of its blackness, like a painting of the darkest of minds. She hoped never to meet the artist.

This girl was too young to die so horribly.

It took a moment before she could spare a few words, to address the officers. She gained her composure back again, and straightened her posture. Her hands still trembled, so she gripped her skirts, keeping them clear of the pool of blood. Eyes fixed on the girl, she whispered, "Why would anyone do this?"
@Snagglepuss89 I don't actually expect a lot of people- I'd rather have just a few, who each control a character that is in charge of a larger group. By having people from both the Dark and Light sides of things, we can have more back and forths than just between the GM's and everyone else. Actual battle scenes, I mean, rather than one sided narrations.
@Lucky Knight Thankfully, this RP begins centuries before the series takes place, so you don't have to worry about spoilers! (Although, you should finish the series, it's wonderful.)
Kind of don't want to respond yet, lest this become a 1x1, lol.
The Trolloc Wars

This RP will be based on the Wheel of Time, an amazing series by Robert Jordan, though it is not necessary to know the series to participate. The time is a thousand years after the Breaking, during the end of the Trolloc Wars. There are Ten Nations, all of which collapse by the end of these horrid events. Below, there all the details you need to participate in the RP.

LANDS

SOCIOECONOMICS

THE ONE POWER

TIMELINE

The Trolloc wars were most simply a 350 year long series of battles between humans, and Shadowspawn. While the enemy armies were comprised mainly of Trollocs, Myrddraal, Draghkar, and other forms appeared as well. Humans who served the Shadow, Darkfriends, fought against the forces of Light, some in secret, some openly.

Prior to the wars, humanity was still trying to recover from the Breaking, trying to repair the world, to cooperate. Nations had met a sort of peace, a fiercely intentional period reliant on treaties and other agreements, the Compact of the Ten Nations, spearheaded by Queen Mabriam of Aramaelle.

The war began with a series of attacks by the Shadowspawn on the Borderlands, specifically Jaramide and Aramaelle. The city of Barsine in Jaramide was destroyed, while others faced awful destruction as well. At the attack on Barsine, the people of the continent- each of the Ten Nations, with the cooperation of the Aes Sedai- attempted to subdue the armies of the Shadow. They failed in their attempts, and the Shadowspawn spread into the Westlands. They began to demolish settlements, cities, and fortresses. Aramaelle, by this point, was completely overrun, though Jaramide struggled still to survive. The Shadowspawn sank into southern kingdoms, namely Aridhol, and launched their first major attack on Tar Valon.

During these first many years, the human armies were unable to face the Trolloc armies head on; they instead isolated smaller sections split off from the main armies. The only exceptions were those battles where Aes Sedai were abundant.

The Trollocs attempted to invade the Aiel Waste, only to be met by the forces of the Aiel clans. They demolished the Trolloc armies, and the Trollocs now refuse to enter the Aiel claimed lands.

The Shadow, meanwhile continued its push into Aridhol. The king received advise from a man named Mordeth, that he must be more ruthless to defeat the Shadow. The king therefore sacrificed thousands of lives to attempt to keep the Shadow away from his kingdom. The Prince of Manetheren, the neighboring southern kingdom, attempted to help the king see the error of his ways- the prince was imprisoned, and tortured, losing a hand before he escaped. The other nations marched on Aridhol to demand recompense; only to find that it had been consumed by evil, and had fallen to ruins. It was condemned with the name of Shadar Logoth. Even now, an army of Shadowspawn still remains in the city; Mordeth stays to continue his evil work.

This is when our story begins.

After Aridhol’s demise, the Shadowspawn focused their fight on Coremanda, and Manetheren. We will focus on Manetheren. In the first few years of these battles, King Thorin became famous for his glorious efforts. He was succeeded by his grandson, Aemon. Aemon marries an Aes Sedai named Eldrene, and the two led a fantastic effort against the Shadow. Aemon formed a band of elite warriors, the Band of the Red Hand. Seemingly in response, from the Shadow emerged a new commander- Ba’alzamon, the Forsaken Ishamael disguised as the Dark One himself.

Certain things must occur during this RP, as there is a history which we must follow. If you don’t want spoilers, don’t look it up, but all of the information about the Trolloc Wars is posted on the Wheel of Time wiki.

The majority of the story will (probably) take place in Manetheren, with Aemon and Eldrene, Shadar Logoth and the Blight, with Ba’alzamon and friends, and Tar Valon, with the Amyrlin Tetsuan and the other Aes Sedai. There may be battles and whatnot all over the place, there really are no restrictions except that we must follow the timeline, the lands, the socioeconomic structure, and the magic rules, details of which can all be found above.

CHARACTERS

Possibilities for characters include the following:
  • DARK:
    • Dreadlords- Mostly women with the capability to channel who lead forces of Shadowspawn
    • Darkfriends- People who fight/act on behalf of the Dark One (either known or in secret)
    • Ba’alzamon and the Shadowspawn- will be NPC’s, the former only controlled by the GM’s.
      • Trollocs
      • Myrddraal
      • Darkhounds
      • Gray Men
      • Jumara/Worms
      • Draghkar
  • LIGHT:
    • Aemon and Eldrene- will be controlled by Poo and me, respectively.
    • Tetsuan- will be an NPC, GM controlled.
    • Band of the Red Hand- The warriors who fight in Aemon’s name
    • Soldiers- Warriors who belong to the greater armies of the Ten Nations
    • Aes Sedai- Women capable of channeling
    • Warders- The men who protect individual Aes Sedai
    • Aiel- People of the wasteland, outsiders
    • Civilians- Anything else you want

If you have a special request or neat idea, based on something not listed here, go for it! Tetsuan and Ba’alzamon can be claimed, if you guys want them. The latter must be controlled by someone who has read the series, and knows the character well. Tetsuan is really open ended, though.

ON FACTIONS

All players must control a character, obviously, but the player will also control a faction, of which their character is either the leader or a member. For example, Aemon will dictate what the Band of the Red Hand is doing during battle, as he is the commander of that faction. A run-of-the-mill member of the Green Ajah would tell us what the other Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah are doing during that battle; she would not be commanding them, she would simply relay to the reader what is going on. This will be reflected in the Character Sheets, so there isn't any confusion.

The only time we need to know what a faction is doing is during battle; outside of an active battlefield, you'll just write about your character.

RULES

Honestly, since this is in the Advanced section, I expect that you guys know how RP’s work. Be nice, don't control others' characters, use correct grammar, etc. I’ll let out a little bit of faith here, and we’ll only post explicit rules of conduct if problems arise. Here are just some guidelines for how this should work:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, or in a PM to Poo or myself!
I will confirm any correct guesses, I suppose.

Oh she's a terrible cook, lol. And she loves food too much to successfully work in a kitchen, I think. But feel free to offer her a job!
