It sounds to me like the people who care about this sort of thing- these random, faceless people- are overreacting.

I mean, who could really care about these temporary departures?

These characters are only a handful of fluff and a "collection of abilities," are they not?

Is it possible that these guys are just saying things that they don't fully mean? Saying things because they think they're supposed to? Saying these things to fit in with the others who also have no better reason to speak than to also fit in?
