As the title says. It will be only as we the players make it. If you want it to be full of conflict and arguing, it will be. If you want it to be about some horror mystery you will have to get some other players involved before hand and make it so. Want a romance? Give it a try (just follow RPG's rules).
For those of you who haven't played any of the Harvest Moon or Rune Factory games (they're both more or less the same) here's a basic rundown of the setting:
You live in a small village just a few miles outside of a large city. There aren't many people in the village at all (for simplicity sake, I'm capping this rp off at 8) and you guys pretty much support each other through your local shops and no one ever really needs to leave the village for anything. In most of the HM and RF games there's some kind of fantasy factor, in this rp that element will be brought in with the idea that elves, faeries, and imps live their lives alongside the humans in this tiny village. These creatures are not unheard of in the bigger cities, but they are uncommon since they're most at home among nature.
I don't have anything 100% cemented as far as the story; that's up for all of us to decide together. Just a note - I won't consider starting this until there are at least 5 people interested in joining. I want the story to be something we can all enjoy and something that isn't ordinary among roleplays. I don't want to classify this roleplay under any one specific genre, because I hope that with time we will move from one genre to another. We could start out as a romance - turn into a horror - and then change again into a tragedy. My hopes for this roleplay are that it morphs into different things as we see fit - like real life in a way, except we will be able to say "I want ____ to happen" or "I want _____ to happen before that".
The Village: We will have a map of the village as soon as we are ready to start. You will get to pick where your house/store is, tell me what it looks like, and I will add it to the map based on your description. There will be three sections to the map; mountain, forest, and valley. You will be able to choose where your house is. For now, the village does not have a name. If you have something you would like to suggest, feel free. Also, keep in mind that some shops in the village may sell their product to the city, so the amount of money in the village is not limited and the people are not poor.
The City: Elendale. It is a large city full of tall office buildings (not quite sky scrapers). No one will live here, but it is okay to be used in a character's bio, such as your character has family here, your character recently moved from here, or your character fears Elendale... etc.
The Shops: There will be 4 business spaces that need to be filled, after all the village sustains it's own existence, therefore there need to be people of all different professions there. We can have more shops than the 6 listen though, all you have to do is ask.
Stores:
Market/Grocer - buys and sells vegetables, fish, eggs, as well as any other produce the farmer might bring in
Lumber/Construction - builds stores, houses, and reconstructs kitchens, bathrooms, and barns
Cafe/Restaurant/Tavern - serves as a fun place to hang out, eat, and have a drink. I'd also like to ask that anyone taking up this job is a tavern at night
General Store - sells important things like bandages, antiseptics, tools for farming, the occasional book, cloth for sewing, and can order farm animals like cows and chickens to be shipped to the village for farmers.
Races:
Elves: beings that are attuned to the natural world. They can speak to/understand plants and animals emotions. They are born healers, calling upon the natural elements to heal others, however it as a very strenuous task.
Faeries: slightly smaller than the average human, these beings have translucent wings. They can fly, but only for short distances before getting tired. They have control of the elements. Each faerie is born with power over one of the natural elements: water, wind, seed (any plant grown up from earth), or fire. This gives them the ability to direct currents, calm storms, coax crops into growing sooner, or stop the spread of fire, however these are just examples of the many uses of their abilities.
Imps: very small humanoid creatures. They float mysteriously in the air, rarely ever putting their legs to use. They often possess visible traits of animals as well as mental and physical traits. Some of the more common impish types are wolf, lynx, reptile, and dasyurids. Imps are easily spotted by their tails and ears, and sometimes muzzles as well. Long ago, imps were enslaved. Today, they are free and equal to any other race. Imps are instinctively good at perceiving human emotions - even when they are trying to hide them. Imps make good friends, though sometimes they can use their abilities to be mischievous, though this still only usually results in people confessing their love, conflicts being solved between rivals, and general honesty in people.
