BUMP!

I'll tell you about what happened on the first arc. Please create character sheets here or on the OOC threads in the original link.

ARC 1: Black Ice: Rise of the Guardians/Frozen centered

Arc one begins with the first day of school. Maleficent opens up her opening speech for the students, explaining some of the rules and expectations for everyone enrolled.

Anna's sister is missing. With permission from two teachers, Pitch and Jack Frost, Anna organizes an expedition with some other students to explore the cave systems to look for her. Although Jack shows a clear distrust for Pitch, he's willing to look past that for the sake of searching for Elsa.

Upon exploring the cave systems, the explorers come a cross a dark corrupted monster. Shadow monsters formed by the beast, including a dark alternate version of Elsa, chase the students out from the cave. In an attempt to hold the monsters back, Jack stays behind and collapses the cave entrance to keep the monsters from escaping.

The next day, the students from the expedition are in the infirmary. They've all been cursed by the beast from the cave. In an attempt to keep the Black curse from spreading, the school instigates a quarantine. They require all students to stay in their dorms, and decide whether or not to execute the infected students to prevent further spreading of the curse.

Anna, Nessa, and Frederick decide to escape the school to look for Elsa again. Upon reaching the caves, they find Jack alive and fully infected by the disease.

In his possessed state, Jack explains that Pitch was the one to create the Black Curse. Barrel, a necromancer student prankster, finds the monster in the cave and encourages it to spread further destruction. Upon the monsters awakening, Frederick stabs Jack, believing that he is controlled by the beast.

The rest of the students run back to the school. Upon returning to the infirmary, Pitch admits that he experimented on nightmare programs to watch, and possibly control, the students. The experiment went wrong. It drove students mad, created the Black cures. Many students died from the experiments. The monster in the cave was created due to the leaked dark magic from the experiments.

The students return to the caves, with instruction from Jack to use his special weapon against the monster. Jack informs the students that if the monster dies, so will Jack and Elsa due to their symbiotic corruption from the beast. Frederick kills Jack, whom tried to block their entrance from the cave. Elsa decides to offer Nessa a snow globe, one that allows Nessa to borrow Elsa's magical ice powers. Elsa tells her that she no longer feels the need to live.

Frederick and Nessa evacuate from the caves again. Anna takes Jack's staff, and tries to use it against the monster in the cave. It works for a moment, but Barrel uses his magic to stop Anna from using her magic to finish off the monster. The worm finally escapes the caves, and heads towards the school.

Headmistress Maleficent summons the school's guards to surround the school an enact the school's first line of defense.

Together, these Golems enact a massive ray of light across the sky. Together, they eradicate the monster before it reaches the school.

The students infected are no longer cursed. They returned to normal immediately after the beast died. Jack, Elsa, and Pitch jumped to conclusions when they believed that cursed people would die along with the monster. Jack was killed by Frederick, and Anna was killed by Barrel during her temporary insanity from the curse. Elsa is alive and healthy. Having lost her sister and former love, Elsa is more isolated from the world than ever before.

Coolio, I also found the plot outline for this RP on my PC today. I think it's better to restart this RP from scratch. I've got four arcs ready based on some crossover ideas that I have. Rise of the guardians/Frozen arc, Lion King/Tarzan arc, Mulan/Pocohontus arc, and a Hercules/Aladdin arc. In my first RP, I started with Frozen/Rise of the Guardians arc - would you guys like to start off from there again, or would you rather we try some different disney movies?

This will be a different kind of RP. Your only goal is to survive.

You will be in control of an OC enrolled in Dreamworks university. This is a secret school that exists to help students expand in their various magical/paranormal abilities. Although most of the students are friendly, there are secrets in this school that teachers will go to great lengths to keep.

Your job is to survive, and to help fellow students survive, while dark horrors unravel themselves around you and your classmates.

The student body will consist of heroes from disney movies, the teachers staff will consist of disney villains that you do not want to get involved with. Events in the school will occur corresponding to what occurred in the disney movies. But since I'm a jerk, I'll make sure that not all stories have a happy ending.

Setting

Hidden in the Rocky Mountains of North America, secret schools exists to help train gifted teenagers. There are thirteen schools on the mountain, each built spiraling away from the first, acting as a shield for the secrets that lie deep within the mountain range. You are enrolled in the newest, and outermost, school codenamed "Dreamworks University." Your only purpose is to graduate college and to creep back into society like the world intends you to. But some teachers have different plans for you, some of the staff can find more... sinister uses for your gifts...

Primary Ability: A primary ability is the talent your character is most skilled with. Although students may study every type of magic, there are certain abilities that students excel at. For instance, Jack frost's primary would be ice power, while Tinkerbell's would be flight/wind ability.

Preferred Magic type: This is the magic that the student is studying/uses. There are many types of magic. (Feel free to create one and add it to your OC) The three primary abilities are blood magic, elemental magic, and chaotic magic. (Here's a reference of magic if you'd like.)
OKAAAAAY!

So I'm trying to revive an old RP from last year. The details can be found here: roleplayerguild.com/topics/26759-disne..

I meant single trait as in distinctive personality. 1 over encompassing personality. By no means did I want to imply that characters should be like a mass effect shephard that only picks renegade choices every time. Nobility can come out of villains during times of need, just as coldness can come out of heroes during times of hopelessness. People can still be uniquely distinct with any encompassing personality umbrella given.

And of course, just as onions do, more layers can be grown to wrap over the personality of the character. Time changes people, and change is the only thing consistent in humans. I guess I didn't add that as a 4th commandment because most RPs never last long enough to see changes like that occur.

(I haven't watched watchmen, is it safe to assume that Dr. Manhattan has some personal problems alongside his omnipotence?)
COMMANDMENT I: A Perfect Character is a Boring Character. Your character is strong, charismatic, gentle, loving, always wants to be the hero, and is the type of guy that everyone wants to be. STOP. RIGHT. THERE. If this character is everything we want to be, what's left for us to know? Why would we want to follow his story? He's already perfect. Think of every character you know, point out their flaws. They're not perfect, why is that? Because a good character has a good struggle. We want underdogs, underdogs that are expected to fail so that we can root for them. We want someone that has to work hard and fail bad when shit goes down. They can't win every time, that's repetitive and boring. Bad guys come, good guy fights, good guy wins. Too genetic, too obvious, and there's no point in hearing The story.

Now try this: Bad guys show up. Good guy comes and gets his ass kicked. Bad guys cripple him, kill his dog, and get away.

Losers. We want to see losers struggling to fight. Knights in shining armor are unrealistic, because shining armor only implies they've never been in battle.

"But what if I want my character to be a strong hero?"

Even Gods have their flaws. (Serious flaws too, have you looked into Greek mythology?) I can't create a struggle for each type of character you'd like.(That would take too long) Just remember that with great power, comes greater collateral/psychological damage. Even heroes have weaknesses. Make them hate themselves, make them overly attached to someone, make something stand out. Which brings me to my next commandant.

COMMANDMENT II: For the love of God, give them a personality. She's shy, but adventurous. She's a jerk, but has a heart of gold. She doesn't fit in, but loves making new friends. She's a bitch, but wants love. See the pattern? Because I don't.

YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE EVERYTHING.

"But I want people to like my character, so I want her to have a little of everything"

OCs are like real life people. (Shits about to get deep). Each character has distinctive personalities that separate them from everyone else. One does not satisfy everyone's taste, instead of being very flavorful, one flavor must be chosen. Because each person is a different taste, and no one likes tasting the same flavor all the time. (That sounded perverted)

Choose one single trait, ANY trait, and stick with it. "But my character is more complicated." Honey, they all are, just stick to a single trait.

I like to go with the inner person outer person rule. The outer person is the personality they show to the world. The inner person is WHY the outer person exists.

In order, the outer person may be: hot headed, attention hog, slutty, quiet, or adventures.

While the inner person may be: Unsure how to make people like him, doesn't like being ignored, wants to prove to her parents that they failed, abused as a child and unsure what to speak about, or never knew how wonderful life was until they left home.

Y'see people are like onions, there are many layers to all of us. We only ever see the outer layer, but the inner layers are what made the outer layer grow.

COMMANDMENT III: Just because their life is shitty, it doesn't mean we should feel sorry for them. Just because your character's parents died in a fire, on their birthday, after they left a letter saying how much they hate their kid, it doesn't mean we will instantly like the character. Nobody likes complainers, nobody likes whiners. Life is a tragedy, but pity is not something we should give all the time. And sulking is not how we should live all the time.

It's alright if a tragedy makes your character behave a certain way, (like the onion advice I mentioned) but your entire character can't revolve around a single tragedy. "I'm going to betray all my friends, family and pets because I have a debt of twenty dollars to pay." Don't blow tragedies out of proportion.
