Well the dude literally called me a statist in a nation states game. So thats a bad sign for his ability to use logic.

He was basically throwing his weight around as GM and the thing is, i too am a GM (I've run 3 games on Roll20) so how long do you think im just gonna put up with that? He was expecting me to be a brown-noser in exchange for getting to play my facist nation however im not a facist so i don't really have any emotional needs to play them. If i was to brown-nose for the chance to play them then i guess that'd mean i was a real facist!?

What im trying to say is im a pretty good person and i don't need to brown-nose or put up with people throwing their weight around in order to still be a good person.

My faction is basically an evil human faction. So don't expect them to be comfortable to watch. You can even make them the big-bad of the local system and id be totally down with that.

I'll jump into discord later maybe, i have to go to work now.
Well it sounds a bit like Dr.Robotnik and Sonic and other 2D platformer games. Is it too hazardous for me to proffer forth the idea that there should be some kind of platform jumping mechanics in it?

Its been a footnote in my mind for a while that if one wishes one could create a dark realism version of the sort of things Sonic is about.

And sonic has some wicked awesome style in it. Like you could immediately style the different combat levels with inspiration from Robotnik bases. For instance theres an oil ocean zone in a factory. Factories have allot of automotive oil, so this makes sense. Oil is crazy dangerous as you cannot swim in it, so you will sink straight to the bottom. Its a fun level hazard.

Do you want to know my spooky version of the Sonic universe?

Well, Robotnik like to stick animals in robots and then use them as slaves. However there is a song from sonic 2 called "Scrap Brain Zone". Why did they do this? That implies that not only does he remove their brains, but the brains die over time and are scrapped. This idea arrived in my head after attending a lecture by Professor Kevin Warwick in London. Warwick is developing robots that use rats brains. With the rat brain stuck inside the robot the rat is somehow able to move around his small robot and do various things indicating it is acting as the controller. However the brain always eventually dies from viruses. Viruses of course cannot be killed by antibiotics and even the best asceptic technique the little basterds still find their way in and eat the brain. Just imagine what it must be like to be the rat!? It must be actually quite harrowing! They are the first beings able to experience what it must be like to be a robot! Someone like Robotnik would be able to connect you to some kind of rewards system so that if you do as he commands you get an orgasm or something. Most likely this would be in the form of a leisure activity. Which explains casino land and carnival land. Most likely you are connected to some kind of mega internet which your access to is only given as a reward. You will actually be a brave explorer of robot-kind and robot-experience, something akin to an astronaut, a robo-naut. Who cares if a pesky hedgehog must die? I can tell you now that most people are weak willed and would give in to this. Those who choose to protest and not work their machines would be given sensory deprivation. Only the strongest zen master would be ok with this. After a while it is a fact that your brain will turn into a vegetable. How much the worse so must it be if a virus or even the machine itself damages the brain in charge. Robotnik just requires a replacement for you and you go to the scrap brain zone. Your brain is locked in a jar with no sensory input from the robot. Maybe the surgical process that extracted your brain didn't entirely disconnect your ears. Or maybe you just learn after a while to distinguish a change in blood pressure as a sound nearby. Maybe you work out by trial and error there is still a muscle attached somewhere that you can move. Desperately you bang the muscle on the metal jar every time you sense a sound. Hoping that someone will save you. The brain in a jar theory is also related to a philosophical argument.

And this is one of those reasons on the list as to why i will buy a gun one day. Albeit it is an unlikely eventuality.
@Strange Rodent

Oh im not gonna tell people I'm a GM when I'm not. And i'd quickly tell them to not go confirming other people characters, jeez if they did something like that they'd immediately out themselves as not right for the game... i think.

I think the main issue is that the GM is asking for some tact in regards to "smack-talk" rather than being standoffish. Not gonna lie, the post in question did seem a bit too hostile/aggressive imo.

People are not always going to talk the way you want them to. I like people who build up a thick skin, its useful for survival.

You say tact and to be honest I'm pretty sure i have my tactic down. My tactic is honesty. If i modify my honesty too much it fails. This is called manipulation. And i despise it as a form of weakness. Im generally very good at logic too. Anyway enough of this. Im not going to respond to this question any more, it'll clutter up the RP.

Hi this has my attention. However i would like to know more about its PvP elements, is this a slow burner or not? Perhaps we shall only know afterwards.

In any case i was somehow bamboozled one day into playing a fascist space nation. I created them as a bit of a critique on fascism but it seems to have been far too plausible and scared some people and was kicked from the game. The GM specifically called me a "statist" even though I'm not in fact, (I'm more of an individualist). Anyway the idea has kept smouldering in my mind and has had further refinements, its even got a tiny amount of praise so well theres that.

In any case they are scary in the sense of how Starship troopers was scary to you as a kid the first time you saw it. But it was also cool because people think warriors are cool (and they are).

If youre prepared for Starship Troopers style spooky then here we go. My faction truly are monsters. However they are more like Samurai than Nazis.

The Nazis leader was an artist, and artists seek to be witnessed. And thats a little fruity.
@Theodorable

Wow i think this needs to win some sort of award for unconventional RPs.

Infact this is now a potential thing.

Hi this is a simple idea i had its a list basically for nominees for a shortlist for Unconventional RPs.

If you'd like to nominate someone for the list please include a link and a short description of what you enjoyed about playing the game and if you want a list of the memes or inside jokes that the game created.

2018 is coming to a close pretty soon so its as good a time as any to aggregate nominees for the entire year of 2018. Maybe by the end of 2018 we shall give out awards in the form of some kind of image to use in your signature?

Its a bit of fun and doesn't take long and would make someones day!

I'd like to kick this off with a nomination for an idea not yet played out:

@Strange Rodent

Hi, let me just clarify;

Im basically a Tsundere, not a jerk that seeks to disparage and hurt anyone. I like strong humans, and i demand that humans be stronger. I basically use humour and chastisement to get people to do a bit better from time to time.
I generally get on really well with people who accept that. (Ive been in a RP lasting 2 years). If you can't accept that then i should probably leave.

I know that on a personal level you want everyone to become better friends through the course of this RP. I basically want that too. But I'm not willing to bare the cross of a slightly OP'd character in the long term. In fact i'd quit.

With respect to your position of GM, that you have taken it upon yourself to draw this game into existence and manage it. You say i am not a GM or Co-GM, yes i have not applied to that position (too lazy), but i have in fact GM'd 3 games in the past on Roll20 voice and map. Lasting on average 8 months. I know my stuff and i will not be silenced, especially if we are to be friendly to each other. Below is my comment to Claw.

I've gotten inspiration from this so that you didn't think I just made it up.

Accepted.

Also, I apologize if I've offended you with my sheet and I can see how it was OP. I'm really sorry about that.

Yeah its alright I'm not offended. There isn't some great war between us two :) its just i thought you can do a better character and i have to say it.

The only thing that scares me is if you couldn't take a little smack-talk about your game. And from the looks of it you clearly can take it... so.

People want to turn me into adolph satan for saying something sometimes. But i try to make sure i can take just as much smack talk as the next guy.

Have a go at my character. Go on. I know I'm not perfect :)

Hope thats ok.

Maybe that navy parked outside your harbour could be my navy? We could have a mutual defence pact and i could keep the harbour corridor open for food transport to keep you from being starved out of your fortresses. I might have to wangle more ships for my fleet though, i don't know how many is enough...
@Claw2k11

Nah mate goddmodding.

Some trigger words:
1.) Duchy; i mean, we all want one, but a Duke owns a Duchy, but werent we restricted from being a Duke? If you mean another Dukes Duchy, then whos? There are only 3 that exist.
2.) So your character is basically a General, thats cool, about time if you ask me. But they have their own city of Stonehaven which has a gold mine? I mean, sure we all probably know of a gold mine or two, but i just want to check you arnt suggesting that you have the strongest army character ASWELL as the largest personal bank. I dont think anyone yet has mentioned gold mines but you happen to have a "rich" one.
3.) "Burgher of Osthaven... leader of only city in the county" Wow you have a CITY?! I mean, 100,001 is the definition of the smallest city worthy of the name. So far i personally have been operating off of the principle that the only city is Cobsterra. Am i wrong? Do i need to suddenly upgrade my towns to citys?
4.) "Debts Received: Through careful management and perhaps a bit of trickery, Sylla has been able to make sure that a range of people from simple peasants to rich merchants become indebted to her and as a result have become her eyes and ears throughout the kingdom." Oh thats cool so you basically single handedly pulled off the most difficult thing its possible to do and cant even tell us how you did it. Coolio...

I mean, we can work with it the way it is. I for one will have to regear my character to ending the reign of terror of this obvious ubersoldier, but that'll make the game a little dry.

We all are kind of godmodding in different ways, i have trade, the other dude has intellect, you have war. But we're being way more subtle. Get on our level! lol.

Addenda:
5.)"The county of Komos has a sort of a special status within Hyuon and indeed Cobsterra itself, as its lords have been given the status of Marcher Lords, a status which significantly diminishes the amount of taxes and levies the lords have to provide to their liege and are given a fairly significant amount of autonomy. In return, however, the lords are to use these levies, this gold and this freedom to become the shields of the kingdom and become a buffer between the Kingdom itself and the Anma Coalition." Humm...
6.) "The main port of the city itself, however, in meant to be as a place where the main fleet of the kingdom is supposed to rest, should war start with the Coalition." So you own the navy aswell? Quit stealing my moves! Someone had better invent an airforce so you can assume control and stewardship of it that too.

Fun game, try to think of a power the king has or a function of feudal state that Komo has not absorbed.
@eclecticwitch
Hello there, i like your idea allot but i've already committed to another RP. However there is a certain amount of cross over between us. I think the GM just suggested that it become a group game. So would you be interested? I would humbly invite you but i think it might be overstepping my position.
