Brenna was shocked when one of the Beothers approached and started signing.
"Yes I can hear," she replied in a shaky voice. "My daughter is hard of hearing," she said and gave a small shriek when the black blood of a Lesser sprayed on them. Brenna took the brunt of it, when only a few drops landing on Gracie, who immediately started trying to get it off. The child's wide eyes and whimpers showed that she was terrified.
Gracie had her father's eyes. Although Brenna had never known his name she remembered his face, epsecially his eyes. But seeing them so scared on her little girl made her heart twist in pain.

"Please," she pleaded, "help us."

Most of the threat was dealt with. The remaining Lessers disbanded quickly when there were only a few of them left, risking the Omega's wrath over death at the hands of the Brotherhood.

@KatherinWinter @BlackPanther maybe skip to us being in the mansion? Have one of the males offer them a meal and a safe place to sleep for the night since he can tell they are scared after the Lesser encounter?

@KatherinWinter my reason was going to be that the vampire doctor who works at the shelter they live in will call the Brotherhood to tell them that Gracie's blood matches one of their deceased Brothers.

Brenna screamed as the Lesser came out her and Gracie. She turned her back to it, crouching to protect her child with her body. But it didn't attack. Looking up Brenna was shocked to see a large body blocking the way to her and Gracie. The way he was built he couldn't be anything other than a Brother.

The Brotherhood was here!
"Mommy!" Gracie cried and pointed. Brenna nearly screamed again as a large wolf came bounding towards them, ripping a Lesser to pieces. Brenna covered Gracie's eyes to shield her from the carnage. Black blood flew and splattered like crude oil on the ground.

Gracie struggled against her mother's hold, signing frantically. She hated having her eyes covered. Sight was the main way she processed the world. When you were deaf sight was extremely important.
Brenna backed away from the fight and placed her daughter on the ground, pulling her face to look at her and nothing else.

Do not look, she signed to her.
"Monsters kill daddy?" Gracie voiced and signed at the same time. She was asking if these were the beings that had killed her father.
"Yes," Brenna said and signed. "But I not allow them hurt you, promise,"
"Who they?" Gracie voiced and signed, pointing at the large males.
"The Brotherhood," Nrenna answered, signing 'brother' and 'link/connected' as their sign for Brotherhood. Gracie's eyes went wide. She loved stories of the Brotherhood but had never actually seen any before. She brought her fists close to her chest, then opened her arms like she was releasing a bird.
Safe? was what the sign meant.
Brenna nodded. They were safe with the Brotherhood there.

@KatherinWinter and I believe vampire children age like a normal human until they hit transition... right? Or am I confused?
