Marigold "The Matriarch" Alcantara
Theme Song:
Imagine Dragons- Gold"You nobles criticize my blood because I was not born into the royal line. But don't you know that gold courses through my veins?"
NameMarigold Alcantara
- Though not her birth name, one most consider how well the name Marigold titles the pompous woman. It is quite the fine roll of the tongue that the word, gold aims to her comfort in wealth. With this name, it brings irony as the dirt poor orphan did not only become one to receive a new social class, a family name, and riches, of course. But she managed to take for herself a name also, well given one, just like that royal title. But aren't all children given a little something by just exiting the womb? Something at all? Yes, though Marigold was counted as one of the luckier of the bunch.

ReputationBeing known as the Matriarch, Marigold acts like her sisters' mother whether they like it or not. But in all truth, Marigold really does care about those girls, and find it her responsibility to look after them even through each and every lecture she gives. But not only does she take control in her own household, Marigold seizes power through social gatherings as she is the moving force of them all being the talk of the night through her every flamboyant fashion. And that is another thing about Marigold, she is takes nobility very seriously, always reminding her sisters of that.
Appearance Marigold is a flamboyant figure when it comes to dress apparel. Of course her main color of choice is gold, and it is often depicted through long and vivacious ball gowns and dresses. Beyond that Marigold feels uncomfortable wearing in public. You will never see her in armor, or really even wearing pants. You can only imagine that she more than often arrives to an occasion far over dressed. But it is her motto to say, "Tis better to come overdressed than under." But she understands that fashion is another way to gain respect from the nobles. So, her upcoming suitor must realize if they are going to be her companion, he is going to have to dress in a similar high-born fashion. It does get on Marigold's nerves when her sister are not dressed in the same way, especially being their status as royalty.
Underneath the flashing clothing, Marigold truly is a beauty with fair skin and gold locks. She is a rather tall woman, however, but it works for her imposing authoritative figure. Her flesh is without blemish as growing up as a princess in castle can preserve you from bearing scar. As for posture, Marigold poses at a stance with head held high and chin up, as she convinces the upper class that she has nothing to be ashamed of, even her common blood.

Personality DescriptionWhat is there to say about Marigold? The adopted child of the throne is no less than perfect, or so she allows herself to be. Marigold strives for performance without error in each and every step she takes. Yes, it makes her critical, but all at once hardworking too. Part in this is due to the dire circumstance that not only was Marigold the only child of the king and queen for some time, but she was the adopted child. Not only was she representing the royal family, but because she was originally conceived with common blood- she relates to the lower class also. With this, Marigold believes if she fails once, she downgrades both sides of the spectrum. With this, Marigold has become a sophisticated young woman. It is as if she has trained herself to function with a high degree and level of complexity. Her elegance ties in this and bleeds through her fine preference of tasteful fashion. Though she cannot expect others to do the same, as she understands most are not put to please two masters.
Though Marigold senses the pressure weighed upon her shoulders, she still reaches out to be that mother her sisters no longer have. This is especially towards her youngest sister, the child who lived without the comfort of the woman who bore her from the womb. Yes, she pushes her to be a noble rule-following lady, she does it all in love. You would not expect a person such as Marigold to care when you start to crumble and crash, yet she comforts others to comfort herself. Everyone knows struggle. Holding tightly those in it is her way to cope with it.
Another side of Marigold, she entertains to display, is her more creative mindset. Yes, in Marigold's time within the royal family, the princess has become a patron of the arts, as she most definitely values the translation of emotion through visual depiction. She spreads endorsements, donations, and sponsorships to artists. Marigold has even successful ordered a gallery to be built solely supported by the royal family, as only the master are permitted a single piece within the gallery. Painting is a leisurely hobby to her, as it is a time for her to rewind and retire to more relaxed thinking. If it not be creating art, it is viewing it. But like art, Marigold is expressive, she holds nothing back. The woman is direct and forthright, thus this makes her extremely honest. Holding her tongue is something she does to people she tries winning favor over, but those she truly know, know her. Because of this, she hates beating around the bush, and prefers everyone to just get straight to the point.
Being the oldest, most often than not, pushes one to make the first move and take control. Marigold has become a leader through this, which makes her a suitable queen. Marigold is no pushover, and if you even attempt to make her one, you will soon realize it won't happen. No, not after he years of adapting into the head woman of the household after the death of her mother, and later the eldest of the family.
All of those things are the most treasured traits of her character. But Marigold really is far from perfect when it comes to the heart. No, she is not a malicious or evil woman. Simply, the sibling who is entitled to authority. Marigold is bossy, and never denies but embrace it. In part, this is due to her fearing that without control there is chaos. And with instincts to always step up to the plate, she claims power. When not immediately given it, Marigold becomes impatient and this is not only with the circumstance, but with others also. The greatest challenge for her during the Season of Growth, will be not abandoning her companion when he fails her, fearing that he slowly or never ever reach success.
Back to Marigold being elegant and sophisticated, well count in vain. Her own name has the word gold in it, and she is nicknamed, Goldie for her fashion in the colors of it. But once she was cut off from the dingy orphanage and welcomed into the bright dazzling castle that is now her home, Marigold has grown quite use to it to the point if not giving the most divine of treatment of luxury, Marigold will not tolerate it. Call her a stuck-up noble, but she would not reject the truth.
If there was one person she patronized the most, it would be her sisters. Though more closely bonded with her youngest sister, Marigold patronizes her middle sister more than the youngest, as the two are both rivalries. Marigold may have been the king and queen’s first child, but the middle sister was the first child born of their blood. And some have favored her more than Marigold all in the fact of true inheritance. But you must keep in mind, Marigold being spoiled was robbed from her when another baby girl was welcomed into the family. She will also most likely be patronizing her companion as he may lack a superior knowledge of a noble lifestyle.
Marigold is hypocritical, being that she has a holy-than-thou attitude when it comes to morality. She is a strong believer of following rules simply because they are there. She defends this with saying that all rules exist for a purpose, if you want to change them, then work your way up to a position where that is possible. Everyone must know their place, it is why government exist- to construct order and prevent chaos. If she chose to believe rebellion is right if the government is corrupt, then there would be chaos because what one finds dystopia the other sees as a utopia. People are individuals, each one has a different opinion. So, let those who have ruling authority take responsible for the decisions, good or bad. Everything happens for a reason and Marigold believes the wicked will one day face justice even in what is considered the afterlife. For now and for the sake of harmony, perform in obedience.
Finally, Marigold is stubborn. The path she makes is the path she takes, she is not easily shaken from a decision. This has made her a dominant figure, even around men. This may prove a great trial for the two of them in the coming day. But Marigold can be seen as the strict controlling mother, but in the end truly loves you because she is your mother, or cares to be the figure that acts like one. She does not like her authority to be swayed or defied, and sees to it that her family is given the highest of name, thus becomes vain of it and expects others to have manners of noble kind. With this Marigold has been dubbed, the Matriarch.

HistoryBefore she was Marigold Alcantara was simply just, Farah. It is a common girl's name, though she is not quite sure who originally gave it to her, only certain she had been called it before claiming the name she now holds. All Marigold can recall from a past of a dirt-living was an unawareness for much of who she is or who she was daughter of. Marigold is a mystery, a key reason why the king and queen adopted the child. Yet, it must be explained how Marigold met the monarchs, how was that even possible for a lowly orphan?
Well, even before Marigold was considered royalty, she has always dreamed of being a princess, as most little girls often do. Playing pretend outside in the yard while boys thinking themselves of kings would build their own castle forts out of sticks and branches, was something Marigold often did. But unlike the other girls of the orphanage, Marigold shined the brightest when it came to entitlement. Yes, even at a young age, she took control and command as a leader. It was at those moments she even passed the point of being princess and went straight to queen. Though, the Matron of the orphanage soon took note of this when came the coming time of the Sunrise Festival. The Sunrise Festival is gathering to celebrate the kingdom's youth, the sunrise of the future days to come. Most children attend with their mother and father through the festival, with some in excitement to meet the king and queen. Marigold longed to one day participate in the celebration, not for the games nor feast to enjoy, but to truly see the rulers of Magnolia. She begged the matron, to the point of demanding it, but she waited patiently, acted obediently to prove that she deserved. Soon enough, through being a good diligent child in the extra chores she completed, the Matron took with her a few exceptional orphans to the Sunrise Festival.
Through one night, she touched the monarchs' hearts through her direct and firm behavior. Marigold showed potential, especially how she pushed and persisted that she meet the rulers. Even for a child's mind, Marigold presented that she was far above the usual thinking of a youngling. This particularly showed when Marigold questioned her importance, because with no backstory and no acknowledge of who her were parents were, Marigold looked for answers to her identity. The king and queen took to mind the thoughts of an orphan to soon adopt her near the end of the week-long Sunrise Festival.
And now we have Marigold, named after the flower and of her gold locks. She was adopted at the age of twelve, and since then she has taken full advantage of noble lifestyle, as it was her childhood dream. But soon enough she was not the king and queen's only child. No, because when her supposed sister was born into the world, Marigold soon realize she had rivalry. This of course sparked from jealous, fearing that the love she finally could have would soon be taken by this one girl. Of course, the two grew closer to each other as time passed, the tension still stands even more through the coming days. One can question who is Marigold to assert herself above the monarchs' true daughter, even if she is older?
Marigold is well aware she is not of noble blood. In fact, she is constantly reminded of it. But she gains the respect of the common folk because of it, and with her style and elegance among nobility, Marigold manages to win even their favor. But as for a suitor, she can only hope she finds a man of a high regarded reputation. True love is not part of the Season of Growth, though it is recommended, right now Magnolia needs a stable kingdom if they are to expand the nation into something great. She was always her father's daughter, now, well now she is going to make him proud.
