After the captain dismissed them, Aubrey leaned back in his chair with a sigh. For some reason, he had a gnawing feeling in his stomach, like something bad was going to happen. He played with the string on his hat, twisting it between his fingers thoughtfully until Jax broke his trance. She nudged him with her elbow and leaned over to speak to him. His mind took a moment to creep back into the real world again. He was glad she repeated herself, because her first attempt had fallen on deaf ears.
“Sorry, I was distracted. Gun, cannon, food... Yeah, I'll come.” He stood up and stretched his arms over his head, trying to push away his rising sense of unease. He waited for Jax to stand up, then walked with her to the sleeping quarters. He knew the way well enough that he could walk without giving direction much thought. Despite all of his unfortunate... quirks, he did have a very good memory when it came to things like that. He wasn't sure what this feeling was, but he needed to get his mind off of it. “Oh, did you decide who you wanna give the cannon to?” He asked.
