@littleone - No. The world would not be better off without you. Those who know you will greatly miss you. Hang in there. Sometimes it might not seem like it but you mean a lot to those who love you.

I'm in the process of moving so I'm currently a bit CrAzY at the second. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal reply schedule soon (after the move and the insanity of getting basic unpacking done)

I've quit my job and am currently job hunting. I'm hoping that and a few other things will help me enjoy life again.
I am around a bit though better to discuss on discord.

I'm not looking for new partners/stories at this time.

Busy but overall good.
Holidays are going to be a bit crazy for me but it usually is.

On the story, I might time skip up forward.
We might get more out of the Estella/Rebeca post but I'm sure we can pick that up again later (they do share a room so there is always plenty of time to talk with them).

No you're fine.
Real life happens and should always come first.

But I am happy you were able to get a reply up :)
How's the kids?
:)
Yay!
Looking forward to it! :D

One thing I was thinking about - they mentioned Rommie was Astronomical Officer. What could be done (except that Gaheris asked) was have her the one working with Data (lol that will be a surprise for her) and try to keep Gaheris occupied on something else. That way they can ascertain more about the two from her without Gaheris being around to shut her down every sentence or two lol.

Either or, should be fun. :)

Something you might enjoy:
High Guard Battle March (found the words in one of the YouTube comment sections but it was noted it was actually in one of the episodes so it's canon :) ):

Heaven burns, the stars are falling
As the enemy draws nigh.
Sound the call, fleet and lancers,
"Commonwealth" our battle cry.
Face the foe, never waver,
Summon fire from the sky.
From a million sovereign planets
Scattered through the endless night.
Bound by blood and High Guard honor,
Hold the line until the light.
Hold the line against the night.
Roger smiled. He felt Bea's head rest on him but kept looking out over the passing landscape. He was glad she was comfortable with him. And that she knew he wouldn't take it out of context. Some guys might. They might assume she was interested in them because of her proximity and her casualness. But not Roger. They'd been friends for a long time now. She was just comfortable with him as he was with her.

At her quiet words, he glanced down at her. A smile forming on his lips. He was half tempted to tease saying that she wouldn't be able to do it without him. Or that she'd get in trouble or lost in thoughts or something but he stopped. There was a time and place and this wasn't either. At least it didn't feel it. "You're welcome." He looked back out. "We'll find it, Bea. We'll discover the truth and bring his murder to justice." Resolution filled him. They would. He would do all that he could. Not just for the sake of the man who had taken him in a bit and helped him out but for his daughter too - his own best friend. He would do anything to make this right and if they could bring the murderer to justice perhaps it would help bring the healing a bit quicker.

He put an arm around her, giving her a bit of comfort before letting it drop again.

There sure was a lot to do when working in a flying airship. Estella had a bit of experience but really the last airship she worked on had her doing low menial work that really even let her in the engine room. Now she was practically running it. On her own. A mixture of excitement and awe filled her as well as the harsh burden of responsibility. If something went wrong, she was responsible. That tappered her positive feelings but didn't eliminate them. The wonder of working with machinery was far too great to be completely squashed by the responsibility. Besides, responsibility could be good. Though a bit scary.

Moving back and forth, already accustomed to the swaying of the airship, Estella worked on the engine - areas she could fix while it was going, while maintaining the engine and making sure nothing went wrong. Tweaking it as needed. It was an old vessel and needed a good firm hand on it. How she knew what to do, she couldn't explain. She hadn't been completely trained on all this but at the same time, she didn't need to. She had a knack. A gift. She could look at something, listen to it, touch it and be able to diagnose the issue and fix it. It was something she had always been able to do. To the chagrin of her family. They had not been too pleased by her interest in mechanics. She was NOT the perfect Orthodox Jewish girl her family had wanted. And that brought a hint of sadness to her.

She fingers went beneath her blouse and touched the star of David necklace. It tied her to them even though they would have nothing to do with her. Letting it drop again, she went back to work. She stayed busy lost in her work. She nearly jumping out of her skin when Rebeca spoke.

"You scared me," she said a hand over her heart. She laughed and shook herself. The smile vanished as she contemplated the question. Why was the woman asking? She had shown kindness ever sense meeting Estella. Even put in a good word for her to work on the ship. And for that, Estella was grateful. Though she didn't completely understand why the woman did it. "I don't know," she shrugged. "I'm not really a qualified airship mechanic - at least not to be running it." She adjusted a lever to let a bit of the steam out before it built up to much. Then turned her attention back to Rebeca. "I mean, I'm enjoying it. It's a big responsibility," she quickly added. "But," another shrug. "Great learning experience."

She glanced at her hands, wincing just slightly at the soot before quickly putting them at her side. It wasn't that she minded the dirt - she didn't. But she always felt a bit awkward around other women. Especially as she wasn't the 'ideal' female. Trousers, hands blackened from work, jagged nails - partially from chewing.
Nex is going to find it interesting when she can't pick up emotion from Rommie even when the woman displays it.

*rubs hands gleefully*
Gaheris frowned slightly as the new woman entered and then apparently seemed to think they weren't lying. Who was she? The captain seemed to listen to her - so was she higher rank? How would she know if the story checked out? There was a lot they didn't know about these strangers and it wasn't something he liked. However, she did seem to be on their side so that was helpful. Now the first officer - he was going to be a bit of an issue. There was a slight hint of distrust coming from him. Most would find that bad or get annoyed but that actually brought a slight hint of respect from Gaheris. He was skeptical. Good. He should be and if the roles were reversed Gaheris would be as well.

Rommie raised an eyebrow at the question. It was almost absurd that they hadn't heard of the Commonwealth - especially if they were here. Her brain started thinking of the various logical explanations even as she answered the question. "The Systems Commonwealth is a constitutional monarchy with over a million member worlds," she didn't even pause at the extreme surprise from their hosts, "consisting of planets, drifts, space stations, orbital habitations, and of course entire solar systems. I'm surprised you haven't even heard of it. It spans the tri-galaxy. This system itself is - should be - a Commonwealth System." She turned and looked at Gaheris. "Perhaps the Black Hole has transitioned us to another universe. "Theoretically it makes sense. There is absolutely no indication of inhabitance in this system and they," her hand motioned toward the Federation officers. "Haven't even heard of the Commonwealth. We can't even be far in the future as the star alignments seemed to be about the same time period."

Gaheris shifted slightly, a bit of a forced smile even as he gave her a look. Rommie resisted rolling her eyes but shut up. Fine if he wanted to talk about it later than that was his thing. The fact that they didn't know about the Commonwealth meant that whatever happened, Gaheris and her were on their own and it wouldn't hurt to accept help. Especially as these humanoids didn't seem to be too much of a threat. But then again, Nietzscheans were always a bit pessimistic.

At the woman's offer, Gaheris rose. He nodded toward the captain and then first officer. "Again I'm very appreciative of your rescuing our vessel. I have to believe," a look toward Rommie before back to the captain. "That this is just a slight misunderstanding. No doubt, we probably ended in a different area than we anticipated. With your permission Captain, I would like to work with your navigation officer to maybe help understand our true coordinates."

Rommie gave Gaheris a frown. She was not wrong. She knew where they were. Despite the poor interface on the pod, she had been able to pick up the star patterns. This was the Yol’tor system. Unless of course, they were in a completely different part of the universe - which theoretically could happen - where the stars had the same alignment. It was possible, improbable yet possible.

Gaheris continued either missing or ignoring Rommie's glare. "I understand security." He quickly added. "And will accept whatever help you may provide."

As they were excused and went with Nex - Wolf following, Picard turned to Riker. He waited until the others were gone before he rose. He was greatly surprised. "A million worlds, Number One. Tri-galaxy." He shook his head and looked back. The astonishment a bit evident. "Almost to bizare to be true. Yet," he shook his head. "Imagine the possibilities." He sat back down and leaned forward. "If they are telling the truth - and they are correct in the fact we are in the Andromeda Galaxy," an amazing thought at that. "Their Commonwealth has figured out how to transverse galaxies. Galaxies." He leaned back.

He looked at Riker. "I'm not sure about this Gaheris. I want to talk to Nex but he seems to be hiding something. I don't know. There were a few times he shut Rommie down. Almost as if he doesn't want to reveal too much. Can't say I blame him. The two of them on an alien vessel." He frowned thoughtfully. He looked at Riker. "I'm not sure how much I want to reveal to them at this point. But I do believe we should learn more about them. Maybe we can get Rommie away from Gaheris and see how much she is willing to help." He rose. "Perhaps we'll grant Commander Rhade's request. Maybe have him work with Data - nothing sensitive - but enough to maybe help pinpoint the location. Though, seeing as Rommie's the Astronomics officer, he might want her there as well." He frowned. "See what you can do Number One. But let's get them separated and see what they have to say."

Gaheris followed the woman down the corridors fully aware of the large head of security behind them. Not that he let it bother him. He was a bit annoyed that only one security officer was assigned to them. This ship was a bit lax. If he wanted he could easily take out the man. And that was without Rommie's help. The android would greatly help in a fight - being fully programmed for hand-to-hand combat as well. In many ways she was better than him. But then again, she was a machine. She might be programmed but she didn't have the intuition or gut that aided in a fight.

"I'm not sure why you want to hide everything from them." Rommie whispered walking beside him. "We could use their help." He gave her a look without breaking stride. Now was not the time or place. "Fine." Rommie gestured before turning her attention ahead.

When he discovered that they were getting separate quarters, Gaheris frowned. He almost made an issue of it. The android should not be on her own. But that might raise questions and the rooms were across from each other, so it wasn't too much of an issue.

The quarters were nice. Expansive a bit. Almost more luxurious than military. Oh, his quarters on the Andromeda was a bit nicer than most but that was because he was first officer. But even then, it wasn't as.... civilian as these. And that was when he first moved in too. The food replicator was a fascination. It was a bit difficult to hide his surprise.

Rommie didn't even bother. "You managed to create things at the atomic level." Her voice held a bit of fascination even though no emotions could be read from her. She examined the replicator. "Theoretically if you know the atomic structure of something you could be able to reconstruct it but I never thought someone would actually be able to do so. This is way beyond," Gaheris' cleared his throat. "Belief." Rommie straightened, hands behind her back in a perfect soldier's stance. "It's very impressive." She told Nex even as Wolf scowled in the background.

Gaheris obviously not trusting. He was polite - which wasn't really an act - but he didn't trust them nor wanted to reveal that much up front. If they were going to be enemies than the more they knew about him and Rommie the more advantage they had. And at this time he had no idea what kind of threat they posed but it was best NOT to give them more than what they needed.
They're goign to flip out when they hear the Commonwealth has/had over a million member worlds.
According to the Star Trek: First Contact the Federation had over 150.
lol
No, you're fine. That works well. :)

Though understand busy weeks. Hopefully, it will lighten up a bit for you.
So the more I watch Andromeda Ascendant and get reminded of it - the more I believe Rommie is not completely emotionless.
She's programmed with emotion, yes, but she's also AI so she actually knows a bit when to use it and such.
And can love, get attached (there's a scene she's upset they're selling some china lol), etc.

Data will be jealous.
However, she argues that it is a programming aspect that she has. So personally I don't think she sees it as anything other than that. Just like a ship is built with point defense, doesn't mean anything. She looks human but it's all for the purpose of the crew.

But in a lot of ways she is logical. And emotion is something that shouldn't be as controlling or rule her (in her opinion - something I think the ship AI and Android 'discuss'. Haven't run across that. Probably in an upcoming episode - maybe even Starcrossed (the episode Rommie falls in love).

Anyway - this was a quote from "Starcrossed" that made me think of it:

Roger smiled as he watched Bea. The childlike delight she expressed and naivety of flying was refreshing. He had flown several times and as a security guard he had gone up on airships frequently as they moved the ships from one dock to another at times. In some ways he had gotten used to it. But being here with Bea, watching her exclaim over the landscape below brought a lot of it back. Moving up beside her he gazed down as the city of London passed below them.

"Yes, it is an amazing sight. There's Ms. Mortimer's boarding house." He pointed out the building, now fairly far below them. "And the University. And that little tea shop we occasionally frequent." He smiled. It was a nice view.

The wind blew lightly as the airship continued to ascend, reaching decent altitude. It was a bit brisk but being late spring, early summer it wasn't too bad. "The best way to travel is by airship." Roger watched as the city become small dots and quickly started to fall away. The surrounding landscape had a miniature look to it. The sheep, the people, even the automobiles. "'Landlocked no more, man may now fly like the birds of the air and look over the Earth and see that it is truly good.'" The quote had been from Fredrick Schnider, the inventor of the airship those so many years ago. Roger smiled and glanced at Bea. Her face was alit. "So what do you think? Was Heir Schnider correct?"
