Additional Notes
The tips of this mech's fingers are extremely sharp, and oft used for tearing away at or impaling the important bits of enemy Frames. These CVF mechs are well known for tearing off bits of armour and giving their allies a shot, or even crippling enemy Frames in doing so.
Stinger models were originally meant to act as shock troopers, using their full-flight maneuverability and over-articulated frames to swing in, take out the target and then flit off before anything could touch them, but as time went on, production was halted in favor of heavily armed, tank-like mechs that could do damage to more enemies in a shorter amount of time. Very few escaped recycling efforts.
Past Encounter
In his early days piloting the Stinger Frame, Jaufre was contracted to work as the head mechanic on an expedition into the South American jungle to learn what remained of the natural fauna. It was quite the peaceful proposition, and given his recent and deep gambling debt he was eager to take the money that the founders of the journey had promised him.
Now, when you take a carrier ship, load it with mechs, stock it full of supplies and enough Ethus for a year-long trip, and you're just begging for someone to try and take it off your hands.
Only three days out of their destination, they were set upon by a wave of smaller ships carrying ground based mechs with AA artillery. The crew suited up and returned fire, but the pirates had bigger guns designed for wiping out heavy-aircraft and ground-based armour. The few Frames that were capable of reaching the assailants were ordered to "avoid incoming fire at all costs" which roughly translated into "do not engage."
Almost thirty minutes and many irreparable Frames later, the small group of jump-jet/flight capable frames got the green light to engage. As the remaining heavy mechs retreated to the middle of the carrier, out of the line of fire and prepared to refuel and resupply for another round, the flight-capables were bailing over the edge with the sole intention of taking advantage of the limited mobility of the assaulting Frames and knocking them into the water.
By the time that the pirates retreated in their much faster, more agile ships, over half of the crew that Jaufre was signed on were either dead or injured and the Ethus holding tanks inside the carrier had been breached and were spilling Ethus into the water. The ship eventually made land about 2000 miles north of their original destination, crippled and unable to finish the journey. The original financiers had decided to cancel the expedition in light of recent events, but that left the crew stranded with minimal resources and very little Ethus. It didn't take long for what remained of the fuel to disappear, along with Jaufre and several other former crew members.
