Hirako's ears twitched after Toshiko finished presenting the details of the Agency's latest case. Nothing all that peculiar. At first glance this looked like a simple robbery, but within this world a simple robbery was impossible. Not in a world where vampires serve tea to sentient cats. For starters, the house that was robbed belonged to Magi. Not only that, but the only thing that was stolen was one item - what Toshiko claims the family called an "heirloom." Hirako was skeptical, his yellow cat-eyes reflected this. When magic was involved, nothing was ever simple, everything was more difficult.

With grace, Hirako jumped off the shelf he was laying upon and brushed between [b/]Mearii's[/b] feet. She had asked the right question, and Hirako reiterated the same inquiry. Looking up at Toshiko, he spoke up.

"The heirloom in question, I have a feeling there is more to this object than simple monetary value. Did these magi say as much or...?" The black cat's voice trailed off, leaving the rest of the team to infer where his thought process was going. Work like this was always troubled by half-truths and outright lies, not just from the accused, but from the victims themselves. He wouldn't be surprised if this was the case, and knowing Toshiko, she knew the same. The big question was, if this item was magical in some way, what kind of magic was it capable of? But he was getting ahead of himself. He had a habit of letting his mind jump to conclusions when it came to important artifacts, he had a complex history with them...
Of the many poor qualities a person could have, one that would rate highly on the irritating scale would be having what many would describe as "fish breath." Meet a man with a gap in his teeth and stains in his under-arms and nine times out of ten the smell that wafts from his lips is fish. In japan, such is life, and it was something that Hirako was undoubtedly afflicted with. Luckily however, he had the worlds strongest defense if anyone had a problem with this particular trait.

He was a cat.

Though even that's not quite right. Hirako (or "Koh" as some of the agency's younger patrons would call him) was actually a bakaneko, a cat yokai. For reasons he was either ashamed, embarrassed, or otherwise unwilling to share to each visitor into Ms. Ando's business - he was stuck in this small and admittedly adorable form. There were some days he struggled with his affliction, cursing the fact that most of his magical latency was sealed away forever. Today was apt to be one of those days. The agency would be crowded as his (employer/owner/friend) Ms. Ando gathered the detective group together for a new case. Chances were good at some point he would be needed, and being at the center of attention was not always his most favorite thing in this body.

Still, he would do whatever Ms. Ando would ask of him. Though secretly he hoped he would not be required to go outside in this rain. Cats hated getting wet.

Now, Hirako trotted lightly on four black paws, and in one swift leap was atop the bookcase in the room that was now slowly filling up with junior detectives. Some of these people brought out Hirako's cat-side. That is, he couldn't help being moody and either wanting attention or storming off to sleep in some crevice. The loud young boy who yelled out caused Hirako's fur to stand up slightly, but they were all relatively harmless. The other boy, the familiar...Hirako wasn't so sure about.

Hirako however was noticeably excited when the dancing dressed Butler, Tomoya, arrived. This was a more relaxed being, and he more than once had given Hirako a small saucer of the most delicious tea he had ever sipped. Hirako also enjoyed his company, despite his vampiric heritage. For now however, Hirako simply sat, giving Ms. Ando his attention as she addressed them all. Cats were more of a behind the scenes type creature.

While he once again looks mostly fine, I have to say I'm not sure why he's a kitsune now, eh-heh. Wouldn't that make more sense for a fox?

You're absolutely right, I'm slipping on my Japanese mythology. Fixing to Bakaneko
Name: Hirako "koh" Nara

Age: 219

Appearance: a small black house cat.

Personality: As a cat, Hirako is a lounging, quiet, moody creature. As the bakaneko Yokai that he truly is, he is a calculating, strategic, serious individual. Before his injury that has since locked away most of his magical latency and trapped him in this form, Hirako was a serious and often cold individual. Though he was always good natured and friendly, his growth as a yokai had lead him into the capable person he is today. The only issue his injury provides is that he is often susceptible to the whims of his cat form, and can't resist sleeping in sun beams. Like cats, he is very temperamental, not tolerating tomfoolery and once he likes you, likes you for life.

Abilities: Koh is able to use his yokai abilities to invoke a light trance-like quality in people. Using his yokai Kitsune eyes, Koh can cause anyone enrapt in his gaze to slow breathe, and focus solely on his suggestion. Though it is important to note he is not able to cause suggestion with this ability, or force anyone to do anything. This tool is utilized by the agency as an investigation tactic - used on a victim or a witness, this ability can cause them to view the events crystal clear to clear up the Haziness of their memory. Any other abilities Koh's yokai heritage had granted him have long since been lost, save for his cat form allows him to be the perfect spy. For communication, Koh can transmit his voice in others heads, though not from a distance.

Weapons/Equipment: cat claws.

Brief Backstory: originally a talented yokai hired to protect a magic shrine, one fateful night Hirako's clan was attacked by thieves and rogues. Though his family was massacred and the temple raided, Hirako escaped alive but far from unscathed. Cursed by a hooded magi, Hirako was stripped of his magical latency and pushed to the brink of death. With no alternative, Koh's magical blood reverted himself to the form of a cat, stripping away his identity. Though he escaped, he spent years with no real ability to function, a starved stray in the alleyways. Decades passed, and slowly Koh's rationality returned. It's not that he was an amnesiac, but that as a cat, he lacked the cognitive ability to recognize himself as yokai. He realized he had lost nearly all of his power. One night, after a particularly vicious lashing from some neighborhood children, Hirako had been rescued by Ando. Presumably recognizing his magical resonance, she adopted him as a house-pet. As his magical strength grew, he was able to become an asset to the agency, finding purpose in his life yet again. Though he's never shared the entirety of his passed with Ando, he holds her in the highest regard (and she respects that his past is his alone.)
