Skuberrima, a fallen pirate colony, sat amidst the howling insanity of the Screaming Vortex. Home to warring bands of hungry corsairs, and bloodthirsty raiders, Skuberrima is a world of battle and carnage, held in the dark clutches of the ruinous powers.
To most, Skuberrima is just another damned world, amidst a sea of corruption, but the devious merchant Euromulus Krynne knows of the dark and terrible secrets which lurk beneath the planet’s surface.
Krynne came to Skuberrima in search of the Gauntlet of Myreena, the once pirate queen. During its prime, the planet was at the heart of a cataclysmic feud between Myreena, and the pirate king, Eliphayne.
This battle of egos reduced Skuberrima to a charred husk of its former glory, as the planet drowned beneath an ocean of fire and blood. The gauntlet was thought lost, but Krynne believes he knows how to retrieve it.
However, the wily merchant cannot do so alone…
OOC
Storms and Shadows is a Role Play adventure, heavily inspired by the 40k tabletop RPG Black Crusade. It will follow a band of up-and-coming heretics, devoted to the various dark gods, on their quest for power and glory.
With a small, closely-knit group of players, we will play out an unholy adventure, focusing on servants of the dark gods, and their shadowy exploits.
Rules
I’d like to keep this part fairly light.
Obviously, standard guild rules apply. Additionally, I’ll make the point that we’re all here to have fun, so please conduct yourself pleasantly, and with the appropriate level of maturity.
If a player leaves, or drops off of the face of the earth, I reserve the right to decide what their character’s in-game fate is.
Whilst this adventure was inspired by Black Crusade, we won't be getting bogged down with character stats, and tabletop mechanics. Combat, and other altercations, will have their outcome decided by whatever makes the most sense, narratively speaking.
As the game's master, my word is final.
Beyond that, just don’t be a wank-muffin, and we should all have a merry old time!
Character Creation
At least at the start of this adventure, our heretics are up-and-coming villains, who will have something of an infamous reputation, but are not fully-fledged “super villains”, for lack of a better term. We will advance, and grow in notoriety, as the adventure progresses.
Beyond that, aim to create a character that could feasibly be a part of this rag-tag warband of deviants. If you’re unfamiliar with the setting, the various 40k wikis offer extensive recounts of the warhammer 4000 universe, and id4chan also hosts a more brief and humorous, yet still ultimately informative, look at everything warhammer.
Applications for character sheets go in the OOC thread. Once a character has been approved, it can then be posted in the CS tab.

“I swear to make war on the Imperium and its people, and I will go to my grave attempting to tear down the walls of that benighted, decadent, and foolish empire. It is not I, at long last, who have betrayed the Imperium, it is the Imperium who has betrayed me. It is the Imperium who has betrayed us all.”
Do we want to aim for a collective Slaanesh group or do we want some variety?
Variety would be my preference, but if every single player wanted to be Slaanesh, then I won't make anyone play something else for the sake of diversity. I don't want to force anyone into more boxes than need be
My original plan was to have my member of the coterie be a slaaneshi pirate from the jagged helix, but it looks like we'll have quite a few servants of she who thirsts in our lil warband, so I'll wait to see what charact concepts everyone has cooked up, and try and devise something that compliments the group :)
Appearance: Like many fervent followers or Slaanesh, Natalia's appearance could be described as garishly ostentatious by the king of understatements. Every aspect of her appearance has been styled to be as over the top as possible. In a more social setting, Natalia dresses in the most flashy, gaudy, and facinating dresses possible, decked from head to toe in jewels. Her hair is often styled in some Marie Antoinette level of insanity. Unlike most Slaaneshi adherents, however, her dresses are rarely provocative in a sensual nature, rather preferring a sense of a garish mockery of nobility. In armor, Natalia's philosphy isn't much changed. Her armor is a deep purple, almost like a set of armor made from pure amethyst. Her blade almost seems to look like a slab of serrated quartz, and even her bolter is decked in jewels.
Personality: If only one word could be used to describe Natalia's personality, that word would be ego with a capital E. Natalia must be the best at anything she considers herself to be the best at. A menial would be exceedingly lucky if they were merely killed for suggesting otherwise. If one plays to her stylized whims and plays along, however, Natalia is quite a congenial woman, and can be surprisingly generous to those in her favor. Generosity is yet another sensation to experience, after all. Still, in the end everything comes back to that ego, and Natalia is more then willing to steal the credit of her compatriots and take all the glory. Clearly, they embarked on their feats in her name, after all.
Biography: Originally Natalia Oshorov, a young noblewoman daughter in the Calixis Sector, Natalia played the part of the demure heiress who's role was to further the family name on her backwater hive. Behind the scenes, however, Natalia was quite the ambitious woman, and would work to see what she could personally use from her family and suitors to further her own desires of power. Unsurprisingly, she was wooed and corrupted to the whims of chaos by a worshiper of Slaanesh who sought to use her to corrupt the planet. However, he was quite surprised to suddenly find himself being sacrificed to the Prince of Pleasure, and Natalia seizing his plan for herself in the 11th hour. Fleeing the planet as all hell literally broke loose, she utilized her connections one last time to amass a crew of sycophantic raiders, and made for the Ragged Helix to pillage and plunder to her hearts content. All shall come to fear the Pirate Princess Natalia Periwinkle the Purple. Just nobody tell her that they don't yet.
Just to clarify, her influence as a noblewoman doesn't exist in the slightest anymore. She is basically just a pirate captain with classic slaaneshi delusions of grandeur.
I like whats there! Obviously she won't be able to extend that "killing those who even somewhat slight me" attitude to the other group members, but beyond that I'm pretty happy with the CS. Natalia is accepted, as our first party member.
I'm open to the possibility of one chaos space marine in the group. Two would be pushing it, but I won't allow three.
Either everyone can decide who wants to apply to be Astartes between them, or it can just be a case of best app wins, if a bunch of chaos space marines get submitted.
@levinfist This is set before all of the Gathering Storm stuff. Also, as an aside "pirate prince" is probably a bit more established than what we'll be aiming for here, as our heretics will start as having some infamy, but not to the extent that they would be considered quite that powerful.
Think less pirate prince, and more pirate captain.
That can all change throughout the course of the game, though!
