@Puppy0 It'll be the Martells because it's always the Martells.
Riley's face lit up at Howl's response. Perhaps getting home would be easier than thought. Perhaps she could even come back to visit, either occasionally or forever, depending on what her parents think. The sound of a mechanical whirring reverberated throughout the room, possibly coming from a source outside. "What does that noise mean?" she asked. "How do I speak to the Witch? Could you show me the way?" She knew that was more than the allotted three questions, but perhaps if she kept scratching his ears and stroking his fur, maybe he wouldn't notice.
This sounds like fun. Especially if players contacted each other and plotted against other players in the PM space. I'm in.
Ardasa didn't know why she was here. One day, she was marveling at the grand city with ancient roots her father had brought her to, the next she and her family were suddenly accosted by imperial guards and informed they should present themselves to the emperor himself! She shivered to herself thinking of the meeting, whether from fear or excitement she did not know. The emperor was prominent, to say the least. He was almost twice the size of his advisor, and he composed himself as if he controlled everything he saw. He was cold, and never spoke to her, instead making whispered conversation to his advisor.

"Chief Qorod, of the Earthen Bear clan, if I may speak with you. Alone," he had said.

"Go to the temple to pray, child," her father commanded her, and she promptly did as he commanded. The chamber was large and almost impossibly built, with some of the most advanced dracon artistry on the continent. The statues were easily ten times her size, of various dracon gods and saints. Instead, she walked over to a small shrine of improvised make and kneeled. It was of Arda, patron of kobold women and her namesake. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a priestess try to leave the temple, looking very nervous indeed.

"Wise Sister, would you be so kind as to lead me in prayer?" she asked, hoping that both of their minds would be taken off of the present for a little while.

As opposed to ship, right?

Sit down by the hearth, child, and hear the tale of the legendary jinxing . . .
@Mokley Do you have a plan for all of those buttons?
While there is no restriction on fantasy race of any imaginable setting, the common ones are the dracons, on the side of the Fertile Valley, the kobolds, on the side of the Rughid Empire, or a neutral party of either side.
@Greenie Yep.
"I'm not a fairy. I'm Riley," Riley said, pouting childishly. "You're the fairy. A cute, fluffy fairy, with big ears." She reached over and began scratching Howl behind said ears. "After all," she reasoned. "Only a fairy would try to use funny word tricks to make others believe they weren't fairies." She moved her other hand to the cat's head, stroking it, then down to its back, and all the way to its tail. "Now, fairy," she said. "You are in my grasp. You have to answer three of my questions without lying, like in the stories. How do I return to Scalby?"
Strange. Riley didn't remember the water being this far away from land. There was some elevation between the rocks and the water, but definitely not enough to warrant ten seconds of free falling. Now nervous, Riley slowly opened her eyes, to find that everything was dark. She held her hand in front of her face, and found that she could not see it. The sky never got this dark at home. Even in the night with a citywide power failure the stars were always out in brilliant droves, the most prevalent of all the celestial bodies being the moon.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she hit something wet and soft back first, that received her with a FWOOMPH! and no pain whatsoever. Riley squeezed her eyes shut, and when she opened them, she found herself in a place nothing like the endless cavern she was in but seconds ago. It was a well lit room, an unclear source of light illuminating the walls in a vibrant bronze and the ground beneath her in a surfeit of gaudy colors. On one such pillow lay a cat, so dark it seemed to absorb the light around it. It opened it's maw and began to speak. "Hi!" it said, lifting itself from its seat and slowly approaching. "Are you okay? That was a big fall! Welcome to Compass District One, visitor! I'm Howl. What's your name?"

"Are you a fairy?" asked Riley, not paying any heed at all to what Howl was saying.
