Hello!
Let me being by thanking you for taking the time to read my interest check and to warn you that this is going to be a long, long post. Secondly, I would like to ask that you do not post in this thread! Please send me a private message to initiate communication. I would prefer that this thread be left open solely for me to communicate and uncluttered by others.
Now, on to the more important things.
Like I hope you are, I am in search of long-term, role-play partners. My name is CJ and I have been role-playing for almost eight years. I am presently looking for others who, like me, feel the urge to gratify their imagination and participate in other realities that one could not experience outside of the mind and the written word. That said, I am looking for writers who are focused on the plot of a story and are not searching for "just smut" or a "one time fix". I am not here to fulfill those types of fantasies.
I have done a great variety of role-plays in the last eight years and have no particular niche that I stick to. There are a small number of genres I am hesitant to venture into, largely due to inexperience or over-exposure, but often that hesitation can be overruled by an interesting or unique plot that captures my attention. I do not do role-plays in canon universes or based off canon story ideas. I also cannot play a character that is not my own.
Despite being female, I can and do play male characters. I am also capable of playing multiple characters at a time. [[Edit: I have been having a lot of women approach me with the attitude of "I only play females so you have to play the male". Come on, guys. I don't mind playing males, but it's not my intention to play males in every RP. It's to the point now that I feel I need to ask you to either a) be willing to play males as well or b) be willing to double, the latter of which is my preference for playing with female partners. I do have a few ideas that I am more comfortable playing the male and letting my partner play the female in, but most of my ideas were crafted and imagined as me playing the female role as most of my partners are males.]]
At present my interests are leaning away from medieval/historical settings and into modern/futuristic settings for some reason. That does not mean I would not be interested in a good plot from a medieval setting.
Like everyone else, I do have some rules I cannot set aside:
1) I am not a Grammar Nazi, but I do ask that you make an attempt to write above 8th grade level. It gets difficult to truly enjoy a role-play if I cannot understand what you are trying to say. And please do not ever use text speak.
2) Communicate with me, I beg of you. All great role-played stories require active participation from both parties and ample communication. It should be a blended effort from both of us. If you are not enjoying our story or feel you have reached a barrier in it, tell me. I will show you the same courtesy. Together we can either work it out or we can make the joint decision to leave that for another date or discard it altogether. If you need a break, inform me. I will not be offended.
Secondary to this, I do have a life outside of the internet, just like you do. I may not be able to type out a response every day, but I will try my very best to keep you informed and keep the story going, if at all possible. I ask that you try the same. I am a very patient, understanding person when it comes to people who have other things going on. I have partners that I have gone months at a time without seeing and am quite capable of picking up our role-play when it can be fit in.
3) I am not here for "18+". [Edit: I just discovered that the rules have changed since I was last here. Oops.]
4) If you are interested in role-playing with me, please be over 18 years of age. Edit: I also ask that all characters be above the age of 18.
5) It may seem rather silly, but I ask that you have a face-claim, photograph, or realistic sketch of the character you wish to bring into our role-play when we get there. I am also happy with just my imagination if you give a good description. But please, I beg of you, do not send me an anime character, a cartoon, or otherwise unrealistic images as a representation of what your character looks like. I cannot picture a character when someone sends me an anime/cartoon image of them.
6) This might seem very silly, but I take it rather seriously. The harm of children is completely off-limits and anything involving the harm of children. If it's some minor thing, you can ask, but know I will likely say no. This is the one and only rule I am completely and utterly adamant on. I cannot and will not stand for it and I have completely stopped talking with role players who have ignored that request and abruptly involve the injury of a child in our RP. I ask that you respect this rule, please. That said, I do give a little leeway as no one can remember every rule of every person, but if I feel like you are approaching something like that, I will try to remind you.
7) As for my last rule, it is more a statement. I do not post my stories onto forums where anyone can read them. This is because I have had my intellectual property stolen in the past and would rather not go through that experience again. I prefer using Google Docs for ease of access and options, but I can and have compromised by using PMs on the forum here. Please be willing to compromise with me on this. There's nothing more exasperating than to get to the very end of idea creation and then having my partner refuse to post anywhere but the forum.
If you are still interested after reading all of the above blather, feel free to message me. I have several plot ideas that have been floating around in my head that I am keen on sharing and fleshing out with the right person. [[Edit: Due to a recent surge of creativity, I've got many more ideas than I have partners and I am always willing to come up with something fresh or work with an idea my partner has.]]
