Alan sat straight up when he heard the alarm, his bandana somehow untied and on the ground and his mandibles half out. He had been having a strange yet enjoyable dream, something about mangos, and wasn't happy to be yanked out of his sweet, sweet, fructose filled fantasies.

An alarm blared through the Ellexkir compound, a sharp screech that pierced the ear. "Wake up and prepare yourselves for the day." The incredibly familiar voice said, reaching out to his disciples, "You have ten minutes to wash up, dress yourselves, and make your way to your individual testing facilities in this building's lower levels. Any late atendees will be purged from the program. Try not to disappoint me, shall you?"
Alan picked his bandana up from the floor and tied it around his head. While he didn't trust whatever creature that voice was originating from, he didn't want to find out what being "purged from the program" entailed. It woudn't take long to get ready. He hadn't bathed in his life, and he didn't plan to start now. Chemicals in the shower water could seep through his skin and kill him! He grabbed his hoodie, about to put it on, when he felt something squishy in it's pocket
Crap, the rakfisk he thought, realizing it had been in the pocket overnight. Moving to the trashbin in the room, he awkwardly scraped the disgusting mess into the bin. Even he wouldn't eat that. Guess he would have to go without his hoodie, at least until he washed it.
Stepping out the door, trying to avoid his roommate, Alan made his way down the stairs into a hallway of many doors, looking around till he found one with his name on it. Next to the door was what appeared to be a hand scanner, but how could Alan be sure it wasn't a trap of some sort. Standing away as far as possible with his hand still able to reach it, Alan lightly poked the contraption. Nothing happened. Ok, it was just a hand scanner. Pressing his hand to it, the door slid open in front of him, revealing an empty gray room. Stepping in, the door shut behind him, leaving Alan waiting in solitude.
