Kieri wanted to tear her hair out at this point. How in the name of Mother Gaia could she make what she wanted more obvious?! Was she going to have to get in the line of fire and hope one of these things punches clipped the brace enough to hope it fell off? The sheer sharpness of Harvey's paper, the latest of which had just embedded itself into Jasper's back, did give her some ideas, but not only could she not touch the collar, it'd know if she was bringing something to it as well. It was frustrating to Kieri, but...The Engineer did have a point. If she wasn't getting this thing off any time soon, she'd be useless in a fight, and despite how impressive Harvey looked she doubted he'd be much better. Maybe if she could find a way to get this thing off of her she could come back, but for now Kieri took advantage of the distraction Harvey and The Engineer both provided and snuck around the side, hoping to grab the Fish Man and bolt out of here.
Jasper barely winced as Harvey's legal document found it's way corner first into her back. She merely reached around, plucked it out, and started to read it over. One thing Harvey would notice however was the distinct lack of blood. There was a cut there, yes, but no fluids were currently oozing down Jasper's back like he would be used to seeing. After a brief moment of glancing it over, Jasper started chuckling.
"You know, if I were a Ruby this might've fooled me," Jasper admitted dryly, whirling back around to face Harvey as she spoke
"but Yellow Diamond doesn't communicate by paper. The most basic form of communication she'll reduce herself to is a Wailing Stone, and even then she has far, far more sophisticated methods of seeking out who she wants to punish."Jasper started approaching Harvey again at this point, a dark gleam in her eyes as she spoke. [color=FFA500]"But let's say she did decide to transcribe a warrant for my arrest, just to play along...Why is it in her handwriting?
Why wouldn't she just dictate to her Pearl?" Jasper had seen Yellow Diamond's handwriting before. It had been a rare enough occasion to encode it into her memory. The document Harvey had tossed at her was a near perfect facsimile of Yellow Diamond's penmanship, but that had ironically been the thing that sunk the impression the most.
"So. Do you want to explain to me what you're doing going around with forged documents with a Diamond's seal on it," Jasper started, staring down at the Fish Man and cracking her knuckles
"Or should I just show you what happens on Homeworld to gems that do?"Before there was a chance for either really to happen, The Engineer piped up. It was a bold, brave statement from the human, and Jasper could commend him for that. But she had bigger fish to fry at the moment. As with any monarchy, impersonation of a ruler, be it dressing to look like them or in this case forgery, was a serious crime. A crime Jasper intended to carry out fully. She merely glanced back at The Engineer, her nose gem shining and her face twisted into a heinous grin.
"Just keep that machine running human," Jasper said, starting to turn back towards Harvey now
"I'll take care of it in a mo-" Jasper paused. Harvey was gone.
Kieri took the first opportunity she got. The moment Jasper took her eyes off of Harvey, the Angel had swooped in (not literally, she noted sadly) and grabbed the fish man, tucking him under her arm and running like hell. She didn't know where she was going, of course, she just knew that she had to get away from
here.
She was about thirty feet away when Jasper turned her head back around. Jasper grit her teeth at the realization that she had been duped, briefly forgetting about The Engineer and his machine's existence before leaning forward, curling quickly into a Quartz ball. She spun rapidly in place, building up speed and making a carving in the ground. She intended to run that girl down and beat the life out of that fish, maybe not even in that order.
