Character sheets: Now with extra music!
Name: Solas Slea
Nickname: Sel
Title: The Judge
Race: Seraphim
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Neutral, with Good tendencies
Theme Song:
Appearance: Sel is an impressive figure, standing at 6’4” with broad shoulders and a cocky posture. He is well-defined and strong, having fought his way through many an evildoer. His stick-straight hair has been bleached blonde by constant exposure to bright light, and reaches to just below the shoulders. His wings are almost pure white, and are well-kept. Most would call him a prettyboy, even by seraphim standards.
Sel wears white pants and a shirt beneath his robe. His robe is pure white with gold-colored threads that weave patterns along the edges. The robe is slit along the front of the legs for movement, as well as twice on the back for his wings. He almost always seems to be giving off a slight glow while in sunlight, although you would have to know it was there to see it. The inside of his robe is lined with near a dozen magically enlarged pockets that hold his many tools.
Fighting Style: Sel fights using a combination of powerful light magic, and a crystalline sword he can materialize with a minimal amount of magic. His primary attacks consist of single light beams capable of piercing flesh and thin armor with deadly accuracy, even at incredible distances. He is also capable of moving, manipulating, absorbing, and even hardening light using his magic. His spells tend to travel instantly, but are telegraphed well beforehand if one knows how to look.
Other spells include a Light Shotgun, telescopic vision, mirages, invisibility, a short-range welding beam, hard-light shields, and the ability to absorb light and light-based attacks. At great personal expense and risk, he can also “ride” light as a form of teleportation, and generate incredibly destructive versions of his basic beam and shotgun attacks. With enough time, preparation, and available sunlight, he can almost entirely circumvent his personal energy cost, even for his three biggest spells, but opportunities for that are far and few between.
All of his magic functions off of his ability to absorb radiant light, which often creates dim or totally darkened zones as a side effect. This light can be used in place of personal energy, requiring only a small amount of energy to control and cast the spell. He can generate light on his own (and often does involuntarily, when in an excess of sunlight), but prefers to carry light sources with him, including a form of flash-bang that generates enough light to fuel a medium-level spell.
Sel’s light magic has left him with incredible Brightvision, leaving him immune to light-induced blindness or damage. However, he has very poor light sensitivity as a result, making him nearly blind in dark places.
Background: Sel is a self-proclaimed defender of good – a “Judge”, if you will. He’s spent most of his life taking private contracts against wrongdoers, traveling all across the three nations, albeit mostly in Seraphim territory. Many would call him a glorified assassin. He considers himself above the morals of most people – as a good judge should be. He’s generated a very high profile for himself, even attracting the attention of the Seraphim Council. He has a few supporters on the Council – and a few enemies. A recent lapse in his ordinarily well-paying contracts led him to join the Feral expedition out of boredom, although he soon got far more than what he bargained for.
Personality: Sel’s ego knows no bounds. He will proclaim himself the best given the chance, and defend himself even when proven wrong. He is supremely self-confident, and extremely competitive when facing off against other people. However, when his honor is not at stake, he is far more mellow, and in fact an excellent team player. He is constantly strategizing in battle, playing both his and his teammate’s abilities against the enemy.
Name: Aldris Calter
Nickname: Aldris
Title: None
Race: Pegasus Daeva
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
Theme Song:
Appearance:
Hybrid Form: Aldris stands just over 6’2” when at his full height, but he typically appears much shorter due to the crook in his fully-equine legs. As a hybrid, he is unable to revert to a typical human form. His legs, complete with tail and hooves, are always fully equine, while his face remain elongated with the ears and snout of a horse. His wings are also always present, although they can vary in size. At their smallest, they have a wingspan of only 4 feet, while at their largest they can stretch to massive sizes, well beyond what’s necessary to carry him through the air.
His skin has the appearance of being somewhat tanned, while his fur, feathers and hair are white, with a tinge of grey. His hair is cropped short, while the fur on his legs is much longer, covering his hooves in a wavy waterfall.
In hybrid form he wears a simple shirt and pants that have seen better days. They’re loose enough to be almost falling off, but still cover all the necessities.
Animal Form: When Aldris transforms to full Pegasus form, the misshapen hybrid is replaced by a majestic beauty. He has the proportions of any typical horse, with massive wings that carry him to great heights and speeds. His fur and feathers bleach to a silvery white, and his hooves appear to be made of solid steel. His mane and tail are long and wavy, and his coat is likewise.
Fighting Style: Having grown up in Dumont’s violent underground, Aldris learned fast and hard how to keep himself alive. Under the guidance of Baltimore, he became an expert with a bow, and a decent kickboxer. He eventually learned full combat flight, using his speed to fire arrows with incredible force, and a diving kick that can strike nearly anything out of the sky.
In flight, Aldris is extremely fast. If he can’t beat someone on the ground, there’s no doubt he’d be able to beat them in the air, especially in full Pegasus form. He can duck and weave with precision, and strike with any of his four hooves the moment he has an opening. He also tends to into a form between his hybrid and animal forms midflight to fire arrows, before stowing the bow against his chest again.
Background: Aldris has led a fairly lonely life, his hybrid status only counteracted by his musical talent. Without his voice, it’s certain he would be the bottom of the food chain. As it is, he has suffered extensive ridicule at the hands of the humans of Dumont, and he no longer has much ability to trust humans. He prefers to avoid contact with humans if at all possible, even ones he knows are on the same side.
Aldris is also known to have a touch of empathy; he’s extremely receptive to the emotions of people around him, and often sings to comfort his friends. However, this has also led to a bit of shyness, and he can be easily overwhelmed on occasion, invoking the fight-or-flight instinct.
Name: Gael (Pronounced as Gale)
Nickname: Gael
Titles: Many, including Demon and the Insane Storm
Race: Storm Elemental Daeva
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Theme Song:
Appearance: Gael is pale, almost white skinned, with a well-toned build that shows his years of combat experience. Standing 6'2", his hair is black, cropped to a medium length, and his eyes are pitch-black. If you were to look closely, it would appear as if streaks of lightning danced within his pupils, although this may well be an illusion. He wears black Leather and chain armor on his entire body, and bears a blade that radiates destructive will.
In partial elemental form, he begins to take on the appearance of a nightmare in the flesh. His whole body seems charged with electricity, and coming into contact with him would probably result in a nasty electric shock. His armor boils over into black clouds, and while it remains solid, wisps of black smoke drift off of it at all times. Sparks dance from his fingertips, betraying the massive charge stored on his skin.
In full elemental form, Gael's body could take on any form he wished, as it becomes a mass of pitch-black clouds, charged with electricity, and ready to burst into a destructive whirlwind at a moment's notice. Most commonly, the clouds form into a vaguely humanoid figure, with a pair of shapeless demonic wings at his back. His eyes are the only points of light in this form, made out of raw, unhindered lightning. His blade and armor transforms with him, the armor vanishing, and the blade able to shift between a fully solid form and a form composed of electricity.
Personality: Gael is decidedly NOT sane - his words are those of a well-learned man, but his actions betray the destructive will lying just beneath the surface. Usually, he remains quiet, the few words he speaks saying volumes. He is very careful around the few allies he has, knowing the slightest provocation runs the risk of awakening the blade - not that he cares any more about it than that he might lose valuable firepower.
Abilities: Being a storm daeva, Gael is capable of charging and discharging his body at will - often violently, in the form of bolts that can wreak havoc, although this can quickly tire him out. Gael has some fair control over the weather as well, able to cause cloud cover to condense into far more dangerous storm clouds, which then fuel the rest of his abilities. He has also been known to flash into his storm form, moving with speed and appearance of a bolt of lightning.
In the presence of a storm of any sort, Gael can manipulate the elements, and call lightning from the sky, or drive winds into dangerous tornadoes. Without the aid of his sword, however, most of his storm-calling abilities are significantly reduced. In full elemental form, he can attach himself to the overhead storms, and gain much greater control, while putting himself at some risk.
Gael's blade is where his most powerful abilities come from. Squall, the Howling Blade, is a cursed and ancient blade with a mind of its own. The sword has a fairly standard longsword-style blade, with the guard comprised of a pair of horn-like structures facing out and up. Where the blade meets the hilt, the metal is shaped to appear as if it were a closed eye.
When the blade is activated, the guards writhe to live, spiraling down and encasing the hand of the wielder in a lattice of thorns. The blade itself splits apart, the outer sections staggering into rows of spines, and the middle revealing living flesh, embedded with four horrific mouths. The eye on the hilt opens, and reveals a living eye, which looks about wildly. At the very base of the blade, the parting metal also reveals a rune carved into the metal, which glows with unearthly power.
The blade feeds off of the life force of the wielder, albeit at a slow pace. However, this can be prevented by dealing a blow to another creature, sentient or not, at which point the blade feasts on the flesh and blood covering it. In the awakened state, Squall grants Gael incredible power, enhancing his abilities as a storm daeva. Where he would normally be able only to manipulate exisiting weather, at the height of power Gael can create a massive storm out of clear weather, giving him everything he needs to wreak havoc. The mouths within the blade whisper constantly, and Gael can command them to emit a piercing scream that causes more damage to mind than ear. The eye also functions as another eye for Gael, feeding him images of his surroundings. However, the blade can only remain awake for a very short period of time.
Gael fights with his blade in one hand, and his other hand free to direct lightning and wind. He shifts between his human and elemental forms regularly, using the aggressiveness of his human form and the magic of his elemental form in deadly combination. He also uses his elemental form as a means of avoiding damage, as there is very little that can harm a storm.
Background: Gael hails from a small faction of elemental Daeva, who call themselves the StormWalkers - a fitting name for a clan comprised entirely of Storm Daeva. However, the clan remains very secretive, and rarely allows outsiders in. Given their almost nonexistent size, they are also extremely difficult to find if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.
The clan has been tasked with guarding an ancient artifact, one that was made thousands of years before the Daeva ever lived, one they were told would destroy the world if it fell into the wrong hands. Squall, the Demon Blade, the Howling Blade, the Storm Blade. All names for the living blade Gael now carries, having been picked as the clan's champion. Their most powerful warrior, charged with carrying the blade in an attempt to keep it tame, and prevent it from awakening to its full potential, while also keeping it fed with life energy, so as to keep the blade alive. As the legend goes, the blade would one day save the world from disaster, after abolishing all traces of evil within itself, but only after being paired with a hero of unrivaled potential. Until then, the clan had to keep choosing its warriors until they found this legendary hero. The blade shared in this relationship, obeying only the commands of the champion who picked up the blade after the previous champion was slain, knowing only the champions would have the ability to feed its thirst. Gael was the next chosen, for his skills in combat, his pure heart, and his supposedly indomitable will.
This proved to be a grave mistake. One day, the blade awakened while Gael was in the middle of a small skirmish - and he awoke hours later to find that the small town the bar fight had broken out in was no longer on the map. The blade had taken control of his mind, forcing him to wipe out his enemies without mercy. Over the years that followed, the blade continued to break his control, and each time it awakened, a shred of sanity faded from the once pure warrior. Realizing his fate, he tried taking his own life, and when the blade stopped him, he resorted to his only other option. One day, he vanished from his clan's home, with the blade in hand, never to return.
