As I said I'll have my CS up tonight or, failing that, tomorrow.
I feel like an idiot for not seeing it as a trip line. Considering these are flying predators I'd assumed it was a snare to snap the Roc's neck once it tries to swiftly bank up from a failed divebomb on the Bait. I guess considering the size of a Roc a trip line makes some sense and it would only take a solid impact to it's wings to throw off a bird's flight.

Oh well. The Bait in Leblanc cares not if the rope works or not. She's gonna make some scrimshaw out of their severed talons either way.

Yes, I know they aren't whale's teeth and don't count. Fight me >:3

Yeah that'd work even less haha!

EDIT: Decided to post anyway. Felt the character would have done this immediately despite any arguments otherwise. Sorry if I was too hasty.
The thing I saw about it is while it could work relying a awful lot on a single piece of rope and the bird coming in from one specific angle. It also depends on how the rope is held/tied. If held by the cadets they can be thrown off the building. If tied to the building, well, these are ruins. They might not be stable enough to hold.

It'd work much better with a safety net in order to catch the Roc with more ease in case one didn't do as depending on the angle they could go under or even completely over the rope. Honestly if we had no other choice it'd be a decent plan but it can be made even better with amy one armed with a ranged weapon behind the bait for when the Roc sweeps. That way one can hit it easier and the bait has a bigger chance of survival and trap has a larger chance of success.
I'll probably get a CS by tomorrow night. Have you made a decision regarding the disciplinary committee?
Yes! I can have another character make Smokey angry!
New supplies? Does this include flamethrowers?
Szeren also had a long range weapon actually. Light crossbow. But yeah running into the forest is a bad idea but not using the trees in the village. That being said, speaking of ideas, those trees and aqueduct can also be used as sniper positions or something else.

Hmm, I don't think Regina will trust the princess unless she explains much more of her plan. But it is clear the others don't want to simply evade at this point. I'll wait for Ires's response before I post again as that's important.

Man, being the non-glory seeker is great! And the dissent for the presumed leader haha.

Edit: Interested to see how Ires reacts to the dissent and alt plan. For fluidity I give permission to bunny Regina in order to ask about what Ires is planning with that rope and her contigency. That is if you want.
I see your points but honestly you're gonna miss a lot of shots fighting anything, especially birds in the air. Only way to truly hit them with our current equipment is either forcing them to land or getting the right angle on them with a ranged weapon or magic. Complete retreat isn't something Regina is really wanting, simply because it'd be impossible to outrun birds but it is possible to fool them. A tunnel or basement would actually be perfect actually long as there was another way out.

That being said, the objective actually is the monster the cadets must capture. Monster filled territory isn't the best place to fight, well, monsters unless you got the drop on them. Don't have to fight everything after all.
I tried to think like a guerilla fighter when writing the post coupled with the knowledge of KoL's answers. I also was trying not to have too solid of a plan because Regina is still new and all of them are under a stressful situation. Probably could have formed something much better but I didn't feel the character would know enough for that.

Regina listened to the plan that the Princess put forward, having noted that the obvious medic of the group, Althea she thought, followed her into the building and Esther from earlier was in another. However, something in the back of her mind nudged at her about the princess's plan. The plan's outcome would be interesting, but the more Regina went through it in her mind the worse it got. Whether the end result was to rodeo a Roc or have it hit the piece of rope, there was simply too much risk especially with collapsing village buildings and a rope that may not even be strong enough despite what the princess said. Furthermore, she was underestimating nature, at least to Regina. Adolescent Rocs were fast learners, but may simply just learn to not do something that a late member just did and attempt a different approach instead of retreating. They also had their own feelings and bonds, just like any living being would. No, Regina had a extremely bad feeling about this plan. Too flashy, typical of royalty and "higher" nobility than her own family.

And she is said to be one of the highest ranking officers in the military. I fear for the rest of the Empire...

That was it! She was going to take action. If no one else was going to stand up to this, she was if only to not get killed. "Princess, your plan is terrible!" Regina shouted back to her. No doubt she was going to get some evil eyes and dissent. She was, after all, the new girl to this entire cadet squad and she was just now telling the grand princess that everyone practically worships that her plan was stupid. Remembering what she knew about Rocs, mostly on how to avoid them, she began to conter the Princess's plan with her own. "We don't have to kill any of them! All we have to do is escape or make them believe we escaped!" Regina was quickly looking around from outside the building she was in as she was looking for something that could help them with this improvised on-the-spot but simpler plan. It took a bit of quick surveying, but Regina saw a ruined aqueduct that could be used. "There is an aqueduct and a few buildings that can be used over there for such a purpose, as can the well! Lots of trees and cover to move without detection from the sky! Some improvised cover and a huge distraction to draw the birds' attention or blinding them for a few seconds would also do wonders." With the sun out, the Rocs will have an easier time spotting them, so they had to take that into account. Still, they'd be exposed to fewer opportunities to become bird food than following the princess's plan. A smoke bomb or something similar could work to blind the birds and give them enough time to hide.

Now, was the time where she did mention a portion of the princess's plan that at least sounded somewhat right with someone acting as bird bait. "Bait will be good as a backup plan to lead them away!" It was a plan that she made on the spot, albeit ducking into cover from the giant birds. She'd make a much more concrete plan, but as it is there would be confusion between to either follow her own plan or the princess's plan and Regina did not know what everyone was capable of. If this didn't work out, well, there was always run into the church and another intact building, make a last stand, and punish any Rocs that fly near them. Either way, Regina listened to the reactions that everyone else had and kept to the cover of the building.
