Once again brought back from a state of abandonment, for the second time in the facility's life, the constant hum of activity nonetheless had a sense of belonging. While signs of its extended period of disuse which had ended only months prior were still visible, a few patches of overgrown greenery and worn paint, the fact that the complex was up and operating at near peak efficiency was testament to the drive and ingenuity of those involved. And to the grave nature of the new threat which those occupying the Stadium's refurbished facilities faced.

For now however, those stationed at the now state-of-the-art complex enjoyed a small moment of peace. Although for most if felt more like a calm before a storm, none were going to squander the chance to take advantage of the break in the action. Around the Stadium crews worked to complete minor repairs and retrofits, now that most of the major systems were back to operational capacity, the previous cacophony of heavy machinery having given way to the whirr of simple power tools. Analysts were settling into previously empty offices and networks routed for full connectivity. All working towards assisting the most important personnel currently on base.

The Operators themselves were scattered across the base, many were taking the time to brush up on training, self-evident from the muffled pops of gunfire echoing from the range. Others, having been flown in from across the globe, taking the time to get over jet lag and adjust themselves. The lab, having been only recently fully staffed, was another hotbed of activity in the complex as Operators spent the time going over and familiarizing themselves with kit both new and old. Of course, there were more than a few just now settling in, even now Rainbow was growing at an impressive rate, as they stowed belongings in barracks and familiarized themselves with the complex itself.

A sense of poised preparedness permeated the air, though not one that was unfamiliar for those around.

While not some hulking mass of physicality by any right, she nonetheless puts an effort into keeping herself in as fit a shape as she can be.

Her features are fairly defined, angled and distinct, giving her a recognizable look that's hard to mistake. Jet black hair, normally never allowed below chin-length for ergonomic reasons, frames her dark russet complexion. Her eyes, almost completely matching her hair in terms of color, are normally hidden behind a pair of darkened glasses. Worn as much to protect her vision in everyday conditions as to conceal the parallel leylines of subdued, though noticeable, set of subdermal nanowires running from her retinal implants to the back of her head.

Recommend joint operations with other members, both combat and otherwise. She works best as part of a cohesive unit, and the shared experience may work to lessen her lingering perception as being deadweight. While initially invasive, the technology itself is subdermal and requires little to no external maintenance.

The system can be augmented with external devices, currently taking the form of a wearable visor with its own dedicated power supply and sensors. Zahara's family has no prior history of military service, not that it would have any particular bearing on her upbringing given their amount of involvement in her life. What little information she could find on them later in life indicates both had been first generation immigrants to the United States, and both very young when Zahara was born. That's all she's ever cared to find out, the only thing she inherited was a name. Zahara herself grew up bouncing around the California foster system, and though a bright kid, never seemed to find a spot to settle for any extended length of time. The experience wasn't all for naught, her strong sense of independence and self-reliance having been born from it. This, in turn, spurred her onto finding ways to take her life into her own hands even while just a teen. She excelled in her studies, and while not a prodigy nor a lightning fast learner, she picked up the slack through drive and a razor-sharp focus. Even then, no obstacle was too great, no problem unsolvable with just the right application of enough time and effort. It paid off, as she graduated highschool a year early and was well on her way to higher education.

It was then that she set down a path that would define the rest of her life since. On a recommendation she applied for the AFROTC program at her local university, and almost to her surprise was accepted in. Three and half years later Zahara graduated with her Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering, and by her 21st birthday she was 2nd Lt in the Air Force. Within two years she was promoted to 1st Lt, though she primarily worked onbase in more technical fields for those first two years. Shortly thereafter the young officer enrolled in CRO training, feeling as though her potential was being wasted behind a desk. She made it through the first phase of the selection process and was promptly shipped off to Fairchild AFB for Phase II. What followed were some of the most grueling three months of intense training she had gone through up to that point in her military career.

Halfway through opportunity once again came knocking, and the Lt was forced to make a choice: stay and finish CRO training or take the plunge into something more. In hindsight, it wasn't a particularly difficult choice to make. Within a week Zahara dropped out of the CRO training process and was picked up by the Space Force, the fledgling branch having been recruiting promising members of the new generation to fill out its ranks. While technically still part of the Air Force, from there on Zahara's training became far more focused on the specific missionset of protecting the US's interests within Earth's sphere of influence. The specifics of which are buried behind a sea of black ink, and to this day she isn't allowed to discuss the exact process of it. She will mention having been to orbit several times, though exactly under what circumstances and by what methods is all very hush hush. Her work there came to an abrupt stop sometime three years ago, as an undisclosed training incident resulted in the death of at least two personnel and cost Zahara her vision. A radical block in her forward momentum that left her in a haze for the months as she recovered.

Never one to wallow in self-pity, it came as a surprise to no one that she was seeking out avenues to fix this even while recovery, getting ahold of friends and contacts within the military. This lead her to an in-house startup under DARPA contract, a neuro-connectivity company working to integrate the latest in medical nanotechnology into military applications. Zahara's field experience and unique injury made her an ideal candidate for patient trials, and only a few short months later she was one of the patients receiving the second-generation of vision restoring nanotechnology. For a little over a year she trialed the technology, having her own vested interest in the success of it, and was one of the first to volunteer for the next stage of the trials. The third iteration of the devices finally delivered on not just restored, but improved vision, the demonstration of success leading to more mainstream funding and bump in interest in the capabilities of the technology. This is where RAINBOW came in, though her road to the organization was far from ordinary. Wishing to see the performance of the technology outside of hand-built trials and scenarios, Zahara was; much to her own enthusiasm; push back into active service, though not for the US military as before. Instead she found herself in the unique position of having been assigned to the RAINBOW program by the Air Force, rather than having been selected by SIX himself. A situation which had its fair share of pushback from nearly all sides, not that she would let that get the better of her.

oh yeah, almost forgot about this. sometime soon, later today or early tomorrow, i'm gonna get a quick intro IC post up and give everyone the opportunity to establish their characters as they wish around the Stadium. once everyone's settled we're gonna ship off to a first mission, a sort of dry run to see how things shake out both narratively as well as the specifics of how running the missions will go.

after that stuff gets more free form, if people wanna start going off and doing their own thing together i'm totally for it, but i'll still be coming up with missions and plot points for those that want in.
