If someone makes a post before you that would affect the outcome of your post, then just edit it. Or check to make sure no one else posted before you.

It's entirely possible to write an open-ended action in past tense. As long as you only describe what your character is doing, and not its effect, which you leave up to the player on the receiving end. That's what the "no autohitting" rule is all about.

There isn't anything super wrong with it, it's just weird to read. And the opening is written in past tense because it well...took place in the past. Cake's post sounds like it was written by a fortune teller that was predicting what would happen to the character.
