However he also doesn't mind dressing more femininely either; tight fitted dresses, fishnet leggings, gaudy jewelry. That combined with the heavy makeup he applies makes it easy for others to mistake him for a woman. And he doesn't mind that if it means he gets free drinks at the bar. His clothing is gender fluid, and he has a robust wardrobe of different outfits he enjoys wearing. He also likes wearing a lot of different accessories with his outfits. Large hoop earrings, tinted sunglasses, small silver necklaces, they're all commonplace compliments to his clothes.

Impulsive * Gregarious * Shallow * Unstable
Sexuality: Bisexual, heavily leans towards men
Relationship Status: Taken, bitches
Personality: Damien, at first glance, often looks like he doesnt really give a shit about anything. He takes things in stride and his eyes are constantly set on the future. He adapts to change quickly and has never been known to keep a steady schedule. Underneath this cool façade however, he is a man plagued with insecurities. He wants to be adored by virtually anyone he meets. He strives hard to maintain this picture of beauty and charm. He is influenced by the perception others have of him. He tries hard to make sure others have a positive image of him, often saying or making promises he cannot keep. He wants to appear unaffected by even the most tragic things and often tries his best to find the silver lining in any situation.
He dislikes heavily emotional conversations. He finds himself in an awkward position whenever someone vents or opens up to him. Often times he doesn't know how to respond well to other's emotional needs and can appear aloof or downright insensitive. His own emotions are somewhat stilted, and he finds healthy emotional expression difficult. Troubling emotions like grief or anger are often reigned in and kept on a tight leash, though in rare instances he can be so worked up that he explodes into a bizzare emotional mess. Those times are poignant in his mind and often haunt him, serving as humiliating examples of when he's lacked self control.
He's used to being social and friendly with others. Having lots of friends but none of the connections being particularly meaningful or close. He thrives off of human interaction and can't stand being alone. He would even talk with someone he absolutely detested as an alternative to being alone. His spontaneous and fun-loving nature easily attracts others to him, but long lasting friendships are rare for him because whenever a relationship becomes too tedious or stressful for him he is liable to drop someone all together and move on.
Damien doesn't reflect on the past and isnt the sentimental type of person. He focuses on the present and what's happening on hand. However, since he doesn't take the time to examine his behaviour or make adjustments from his past, he finds himself perpetrating the same mistakes again and again. His lack of self awareness is a flaw that ends many of his romantic and nonromantic relationships.
Since he is very chummy, he often finds someone to share his bed with him. He seeks attention and for the most part, isn't picky about who he's getting it from. That paired with a high sex drive make for a long string of casual relationships. He thinks that he should always feel better by the end of it, but instead there is only a gapping hole of deep dissatisfaction that leads him to pair up with more people.
Money runs through his fingers like water and as such, he is usually in deep financial straits. He spends carelessly, regrets the fact he spent so much in the first place, then goes back to spending more. He realizes he has only himself to blame for this, but likes to pretend that one day he'll be rich enough to pay off all his debt.
Weekdays are punctuated by spikes and drops in energy. There are days where he wants to tackle the world and his gusto to do things can energize everyone around him. But there are often more days where he finds no motivation to get out of bed or do anything at all. He feels lethargic and apathetic towards anything, including himself.
He cares for those who are close to him, like his family and his lovers, but he struggles to express it. This is something he regrets the most. He feels inadequate when it comes to expressing genuine gratitude and love towards them, and he feels like that's what pushes most people away. However, he can never find the words to say whenever the opportunity arises.
Habits: Pulling on his hair, tapping his fingernails on tables, vapes when he's stressed.
Hobbies: Painting his nails, collecting ugly paintings, gambling at the casino, following the stock market, watching reality tv shows

History
History: Damien doesn't know his biological parents. Nor is he really itching to find out. For as long as he can remember he's lived with his adoptive mom and adopted brother, Carol and Haireth Chattaway. His mom couldn't have children of her own, but still wanted them in her life. She decided to adopt Haireth and Damien and raise them up as her own. Haireth is four years older than Damien, and much more responsible as well. Damien doesn't know if he's ever met anyone as opposite in personality as his brother, but despite this he was close to him growing up.
His family moved to Kansas City when Damien was two and he remained therr for the majority of his life. They lived in the seedy part of town because mortgage was cheaper and their mom felt like her boys would have more opportunities in a bigger city than in the small suburbs they started out in.
Haireth was someone Damien looked up to when he was younger. Though they looked and acted nothing alike, Damien had always (and always will) consider him his brother, biological or not. Haireth was serious, punctual, and mature, even as a kid. He seemed wise for his years and Damien always envied that about him. As a little kid he tried to imitate his brother, but quickly found out that didn't work. It didn't come naturally to him to try to be cautious or practical. He couldn't wrap his head around it.
Damien always wanted Haireth to play with him. It didn't matter if they were playing catch or rough housing im the living room, any sort of time spent together made Damien's day when he was little. Not everything was smooth sailing between those two though. Damien liked to take Haireth's shoes and wear them around. When he accidentally walked in mud with them on and got them all dirty Haireth decided to get back by slipping a roach he found under the porch into Damien's shirt. He's still paranoid of insects to this day.
When they got older the arguments increased. Haireth just couldn't understand how Damien could be so carefree about everything, like he didn't care about his responsibilities whatsoever. Haireth was getting irritated of reminding Damien to take care of things he should have already done. Damien didnt know when Haireth became so overbearing and distant. He felt like while Haireth could know every detail of his life, he couldn't know anything about what was going on with him. This frustrated him to no end.
It was a surprise to him when his brother actually did confide in him. Damien was naturally more confident when it came to social interactions, and Haireth was more reserved and quiet, especially around others his own age. However, he found a cashier that he thought was attractive. But he was a guy. Haireth didn't know what his mother would think if he started going out with a guy. So he told his brother instead. Damien encouraged him to pursue it, and while it didn't pan out, Haireth did get more comfortable talking to guys he did find attractive.
During his school years, Damien fell in with a rough crowd of kids. As usual, it wasn't purposeful but as his childhood friends he grew up with got older and started developing more "mature" tastes, Damien decided to follow suit. At first, nothing was too serious. Tagging buildings, hanging out behind one of his friend's uncles bar, sneaking into the movie theatre on tuesdays. But then came the drugs and the hard liquor, not to mention the legal troubles that followed. Damien was uncomfortable with most of these activities in the beginning, his mother was conservative and raised him to be wary of these sorts of things. However, temptation and peer pressure were stronger factors and he gave him.
Going on at the same time, Damien experimented with his sexuality during high school. He was dating a senior while he was a sophomore. It was the longest relationship he'd ever had at the time, and the first time he ever dated another guy. He tried to keep a low profile about it, but his friends eventually found out and they bugged him relentlessly to know more about this new relationship. Damien was tight lipped on the matter though.
He felt so in love that he didn't see the red flags that cropped up over time. His ex boyfriend was extremely unreliable, and Damien was in the belief that he should any confrontation in relationships at all cost; it was simply wrong in his mind. This allowed him to be walked all over. Looking back at it, he wished he was more confident at the time and stood his ground when he argued with his ex about being stood up. But he didn't know any better at the time so he simply kept quiet, even as his discomfort with his boyfriend's behavior grew.
As what happens with most high school relationships, it ended. Damien was dumped almost immediately after the second semester of the school year began and he was distraught. His ex had also told his own circle of friends private details about Damien and through the grape vine, it got to his own group of friends. They teased him merciless about it. Not wanting to sound insecure or weak, he pretended that it didn't affect him.
He became insecure about his appearance, convinced that was the reason his ex dumped him. He simply wasn't pretty or attractive enough for him. He started doing makeup and experimenting with his outfits. He was determined to be so attractive that no one could reject him. Over that summer he practiced and perfected his craft.
When he was seventeen, things took a turn for the worse. His friends decided to sneak into a bar together and have a few drinks. They all paid for fake IDs and got in without a second look, Damien being among them.
After they all had gotten wasted, one of his friends started making passes at the bar waitress, who clearly wasn't interested. This caused one of the other customer's at the bar to become annoyed and he snapped at his friend to shut up.
Instead of backing down, his friend started yelling at the other man, forgetting all about the girl. Damien joined in and tried to instigate a bar fight, but that all ended quickly when the man, in a drunk rage, pulled out a gun and shot him.
Damien didn't know he was hit with the bullet at first. It took him a few seconds to feel it's impact and he crumbled to his knees. His friends panicked and they jostled him up to his feet and carried him out the bar and to the car.
Knowing the police would find out they were drinking underage, his friends decided to drive him back to his place. All the time Damien kept asking if he was going to die. He asked until his voice was hoarse, but no one could even look at him. His mom was calling his phone- he was out past curfew.
His friends pulled up and dumped him on the lawn. Haireth, who had been watching out the window anxiously, ran outside when he saw the car stop in front of the house. His eyes were two moons when he saw Damien. He ran and got their mom and they drove him to the hospital.
When he woke up, Haireth was sitting next to his bed. When he was convinced that Damien was alright, he chided him for being an idiot. Haireth had tried to convince him from the beginning that his friends were no good, and felt like Damien had willfully ignored him. Damien felt ashamed and embarrassed as Haireth asked how he couldn't see that things were going to end up like this.
To make things worse, Damien's hospitalization drew the attention of the police department. With some investigating, they not only uncovered that he and his friends were drinking underage, but that they were also doing illicit drugs among other things. Because of the crime, he and the rest of his friends were tried and convicted as adults.
Damien spent roughly two years in jail. At first he was in a juvenile facility but part way through the year he was transfered to an adult jail due to overcrowding. Despite this being against regulations, there weren't many other options that didn't include moving him out of state. Since he was in an adult facility, he was placed into solitary confinement for a majority of the time for his own safety.
While Damien handled this okay at first, the loneliness soon began to gnaw at him. He craved any sort of human contact and waited throughout the long hours of the day for visiting hours. Even though his mom and brother were disappointed in him, they still loved him very much and made and made sure to keep in touch with him regularly. However, Haireth joined the army during this time and so as a result, they didnt have any communication for the next four years.
When Damien got out of jail at 19, he took this opportunity to cut his friends off and move out of the city. He had no contact with them since they had been incarcerated, and Damien wanted to keep it that way. The day he got out, he went home, packed his bags, and drove to an unknown destination. He didn't tell anyone where he was going. It wasn't the first impulsive decision he's made and it wasn't going to be the last.
