Hello. I would like to know if there could be some interest for a RP campaign set in a faux-medieval British Archipelago, a land where might makes right, pagan and christian beliefs fight and merge with each other, and where the word "invader" means "a more recent invader than us".

The kingdoms of the Celts, an ancient people who inhabited the islands since time immemorial, have been reduced to a fraction of their former power by the invasions of the Anglo-Saxon, a proud people from beyond the sea. The Seaxe conquered most of the area now known as Englaland, leaving only Cymru, Éire, and the northern kingdoms of Rheged, Alba and Fortriu to the Celtae. However, an even more fearsome people has descended upon Britannia: the Norse, sailing the northern sea on their dreaded longships, have come to pillage, loot, and settle the islands. Striking both Saxons and Celts, they carved their own vast domains in eastern Englaland, northern Ireland and the northern isles of Suðreyjar and Orkneyjar. Meanwhile, all that remains of the glorious Roman past of the island are the two small, bickering kingdoms of Cornovia and Dumnonia, in the far southwest. The isles are set ablaze by war, and the rivers run red with blood.

Still, rumor has it that yet another invasion is being prepared...

The players can play as any sort of character they'd like to (combat-oriented, of course). The characters' ethnical background (Celt, Saxon, Norse, or Roman) and religion (there will be some religions to choose from, some available to all characters, some only to those of a certain ethnicity) will both play a significant role in the plot.

If anybody is interested, I will gladly post the map I prepared of the RP's world, and more detailed descriptions of its peoples, religions, and kingdoms.

(disclaimer: this setting is VERY heavily inspired by the Crusader Kings 2 Lux Invicta alternate history mod, which you should check out if you own the game)

This is where I intend to have him forge a pact with the angel Shamshiel, but I'm wondering how to perform the ritual in question. I also wonder about the gifts I can receive: I intended to give my character an unnaturally long life as well as the power to cure grievous wounds (including his own) and various diseases and other ailments. This seems within the specified scope of abilities, but I'm asking just to be safe.

Swear a blood oath and offer your life to the angel, and he'll gladly accept your servitude. The abilities you chose are fine.

I only just came across this Roleplay and am extremely interested. Back in college I studied Judeo-Christian mythology deeply, along with texts since removed, and in all honesty, am a Universalist in reality. I find the old stories both fascinating and revealing when it comes to humanity. I'll be working on a character sheet soon. Generally, I prefer more seasoned individuals who favour stealth and precision. As a lover of Dante, you will likely see a middle-aged follower of Sariel torn between learning more -- risking what's left of his humanity in turn for the secrets of the Writhing Mirror -- and returning to the mortal plains with what he's already discovered.

Very nice!

Slavery was indeed acceptable, with most people becoming slaves because of debts.

how many giants are there? And what happens to the ladies giving birth to them? Somehow, it doesn't sound so healthy for the mother.

In Sodom and Gomorrah, right now? Alive, very few. Dead, many. Mysteriously disappeared, even more. A giant is born much in the same way a human does, since the fetus is similar in size to a normal one; however, many mothers either die in childbirth, or kill themselves upon seeing the abomination their womb has spawned.

Thank you for your quick reply. I should elaborate on one question, though:By that I meant to ask about the original two, the seeds preserved by God, the ones who founded the cities. What became of them?

Died of old age long before the events of this RP.

What became of Sodom and Gomorrah? The people, I mean, not the cities.

After the two cities were purged, the vast majority of the people living there were turned into the horrible abominations that now roam the ruins, mindlessly devouring each other. However, the greatest sinners and warlords were simply put in chains in the Prisons beneath the cities. Telling you why exactly would be kind of a spoiler.

How advanced is out metallurgy? Azazel taught us to work the metals of the earth, but are we working bronze, iron, or steel? Bronze seems to me more "proper" for the time period, but since we're taught by angels in a fantasy setting, I suppose historical accuracy might not be that important.

I'd say that steel might be a little too advanced. Bronze and iron are fine.

How much time passed between angels banging the daughters of men and the purge of the two cities?

Around a hundred years.

How long have we the characters been imprisoned at the start of the RP?

A decade? Fifty years? A century? A millennia? All of eternity? Who knows?

How would warlords go about making a giant fight for them, potentially against other giants? They seem like an unruly bunch to me. Kidnap their mothers and threaten them? Sweet-talk their dad? Does the angel pact come with a free giant? And are they really three kilometers tall? That's pretty tall. Which kind of ell are we operating with?

Giants are big and strong, but also very very stupid. Think about war elephants or LotR mumaks, but bigger. Some warlords even built entire castles on the hunched backs of their giants. An angel pact does not come with a free giant, that'd be too easy. About the size, you know how much authors like to exaggerate things.

Zeropathic said I have one more question: how do we go about making pacts with the angels? Do they seek out humans, or do we summon them?

Those who seek to enter a covenant with a fallen angel must perform a ritual to do so, but you don't "summon" it in a physical sense. Details of the ritual may vary, but the gist of it is that you offer your eternal devotion in exchange for powers.

Of course, I didn't mean to put anyone in a hurry. Simply thread's been moving very slowly for a while, so I thought people just lost interest.

The thread's been silent for two days now; if there's anybody interested, please post your character, otherwise I'll just abandon the thread if I don't see anything posted in one or two days.

Yes, it's all original, although heavily inspired by Hebrew religious books (Old Testament and Book of Enoch mainly).
