The feeling of raw, uninterrupted energy from the Earth's sun washing over his body gave Ricky a natural high the likes of which he had yet to find comparison. He could often be found lost in thought floating high into the Earth's orbit ensuring his cells had all the yellow sun energy they needed. Usually deep in meditation the hours he would spend following the suns rays would pass in no time leaving him revitalised and ready to get back to work. The reality was that he could deal with a large portion of the worlds villains with minimal exposure but he liked to be ready for any eventuality. Deep down he itched for an opponent that would push him to his limits and hopefully beyond. In the vastness of space there would always be bigger and badder enemies and Ricky knew he had to be at his best so he could protect the billions on the planet beneath him.
A subtle vibration on his wrist meant that his time was done for the day. Ricky stretched his limbs out as far as he could until he was completely satisfied. He looked down on the Earth below and couldn't help but marvel at its beauty. Even with billions of souls living on the planet, from space you could quite easily be forgiven for thinking it was devoid of any sentient life. It looked so much more calm and peaceful when in reality it was far from it. The massive cities were often filled with self obsessed, angry and aggressive people who would sooner set someone on fire than put someone out. However, for every idiot there were ten kind hearted individuals who needed protecting and that is who Ricky fought for.
With his four hour meditation finished Ricky shot himself back down towards Earth at a blindingly quick speed. As the atmosphere thickened he could feel the warmth of the air teasingly licking at his skin as it began to become superheated. Soon enough the heat subsided and he was flying through thick clouds that floated high above the continental United States. He dropped through them and emerged through the other side a slight bit more damp than when he had entered. Metropolis had come into view and like so many times before, the first thing he heard was the sound of screams. He kicked his speed up another notch, an immediate sonic boom echoing through the mid day sky.
By time he had reached the source of the screams Ricky found himself hovering above the Metropolis National Bank. Surrounded by a gathering crowd of civilians and police, it was home to one of the biggest vaults in the world. The bank was at the top of any bank robbers bucket list. Through the ceiling Ricky could make out eight heavily armed men making their way up a staircase towards the roof. On the lower level there were several dozen people tied up but from what he could, see none of them were injured. On the roof itself sat an all black military style chinook, it's rear door lowered ready for boarding. Soon the enough the roof exit door flung open and the group of eight scurried towards the aircrafts ramp. Time to say hello...
Falling through the sky like a dead weight Ricky smashed through the fuselage of the helicopter, splitting it in half across the middle. The propellors had bent and broken as they impacted on Ricky's body, not leaving much beyond some rather expensive scrap metal. As the eight robbers realised what was going on they dropped their bags and began to take up firing positions. They unloaded round after round at Ricky as he emerged from the wreckage of the aircraft. Each bullet impacting on his body flattened out before falling harmlessly to the floor, leaving a trail as he continued on towards them. As their weapons ineffectiveness became clear, the man furthest from Ricky made a charge for the door. The kryptionians eyes began to glow a fiery red before a searing beam of head struck the door handle of the roofs exit. The man gripped hold of the handle, even after seeing the ultra heated beam of energy tag it. He let out a painful howl as the skin on his hand was seared by the extremely hot handle.
The man at the front of the group stood up from his position in cover and dropped his weapon to the floor. He gestured to the others to the do the same, realising their efforts were futile. Soon enough the group of eight men and their two pilots were gifted to the waiting police below. Cheers from the crowd rang out from the first to the last man, celebrating the intervention of the kryptonian. With the leader finally in custody Ricky found a microphone from a nearby reporter shoved into his face. "Who are you? Are you related to Superman?" The questions were no doubt in relation to the powers he had showcased. With a smile on his face Ricky turned to the reporters camera. "I am The Judge. I'm here to protect this fine city and all of it's citizens from people like this. To all those living the right life, do not fear. To those not, i'll be seeing you soon." With a wink and wide smile Ricky shot off into the air leaving the scene behind.
ββββββββββββ COSTUMED PERSONALITY ββββββββββββ Someone who persistently wants to fight the best and greatest the worlds villains have to offer, The Judge is a fighter who has a deep, inner urge to be the best. That isn't say he is cocky, in fact he is far from it. The problem comes from wanting to fight his enemies at their full power to push himself. He only ever takes a fight seriously if an enemy is close to his own level of power or if civilians are in immediate danger. Aside from that, there is little difference between his alter-ego and his civilian personality. In addition to the rest, He makes effort to try and promote a positive image for Kryptonians after the negative stereotype that developed from the now dead superhero Superman.
ββββββββββββ CIVILIAN PERSONALITY ββββββββββββ Loving and caring to his friends and colleagues, Ricky is respectful of others and their choices in life. He holds no known grudges and treats everyone as he would like to be treated. He doesn't need food but can often be found eating for the simple enjoyment of it.
ββββββββββββ SUPER ABILITIES ββββββββββββ
SKILLS
β’ Hand to Hand Combat
POWERS
β’ Solar Energy Absorbtion: His entire powerset is based on his natural physiological ability to absorb solar energy emitted by yellow suns. A lifetime of exposure has resulted in supreme levels of power when he is fully charged. In any instance where he is deprived of this solar energy for longer than a month, he would be no more powerful than a standard human.
β’ Super Strength: With super strength approaching the highest of tiers, there are few out there capable of the feats that The Judge is. His upper strength limit has yet to be found with his greatest feat to date involving the lifting of a fully laden oil tanker ship, something he did with with ease.
β’ Flight: When his powers first began to manifest he could only manage leaps over long distances but has since learnt to maintain sustained flight.
β’ Super Speed: His speed was apparent from a young age but he continued to get faster as he reached maturity. While he has never truly pushed his speed it is thought he would be capable of moving close to, if not equal to the speed of light. His reflexes and reaction times mirror his speed and he has shown an ability to avoid extremely fast attacks. In addition super speed also applies to his mind, with the world seemingly slowing down around him to allow him to process everything.
β’ Invulnerability: He has high level invulnerability and has successfully tanked various attacks including a munition designed to destroy underground bunkers.
β’ Vision: Capable of seeing across the complete electromagnetic spectrum he also has x-ray vision. In addition to these support abilities his vision also provides offensive capabilities through heat vision. Scorching beams of heat erupt from his eyes and burn through everything they touch.
β’ Hearing: With a much wider audio range than a human, he can hear sounds humans could only dream of. In addition to this he is able to hear sounds from distances far away. This provided him with great discomfort in his youth but as he grew older he adjusted to it.
β’ Super Breath: Capable of exhaling hurricane force winds and freezing gusts, his breath can be highly dangerous when utilised correctly.
β’ Mental Focus: While lacking any sort of genius level intellect he is capable of focussing his super senses so that he isn't constantly berrated with the sensations around him. He is able to hone in on a particular position through this ability, however the further away a position is the harder it is to locate given the vast levels of interference. In terms of intelligence he is no smarter than a standard human.
β’ Infinite Stamina: He is capable be infinite stamina as long as he is sustained by a yellow suns radiation. This also means that he has no need for water or food to sustain himself. If he were to lose his sustenance from the sun, he would be required to eat and drink water much like a human.
β’ Healing factor: He has a decent ability to heal wounds that he sustains, even with his invulnerabilty. Cuts that would take a human weeks to recover from heal in minutes.
β’ Solar Flare: Scientists who have viewed footage of him propose that in extreme circumstances he would be able to expel all his stored solar energy in one massive attack, much in the way his heat vision works. However this has never been used and is simply theoretical at present.
WEAKNESSES
β’ Red Suns β’ Kryptonite β’ His powers rely on yellow solar energy β’ Can be outsmarted by highly intelligent enemies β’ His inner need to fight the strongest enemies can leave him exposed to attack
ββββββββββββ CHARACTER HISTORY ββββββββββββ
With the impending destruction of Krypton Jor-El prepared the escape pod for his son Kal. However knowledge of his escape pod and its destination reached the masses and many turned to up on his doorstep to try and take the pod for themselves. Jor-El fought them off with his wife Lara for as long as they could but eventually succumbed to the endless onslaught. By time the attackers had fought each other to reach the launch chamber only two remained, General Zod and Faora-Ul. Zod thanked Faora, who had long been a follower of Zod and his regime. However Zod was met with a blade to the stomach, dropping the General to the floor. Faora opened a pod that she had on her back revealing a new born child. She removed Kal-El from the pod and placed her own son in his place. She removed all knowledge that had been stored in the pod including the suit of House El that had been left. In place of the suit she stored a suit of her own families colours and also wrote a brief message.
Whoever finds this note, please take care of my son. He comes from a place torn apart by civil war and deserves a chance at a decent and honest living.
Koron, I wish for you to be a better person that I ever was in my life. The most honourable thing I have ever done is spare you the destruction of our planet. Just know that I will love you always and forever, even into death.
From your dearest mother,
Faora-Ul
With her rushed note finished, Faora completed her betrayal of Zod by launching her son into the vastness of space. A cry of anger escaped Zod's lungs and he cursed his former comrade. Faora watched the pod until it disappeared into the darkening sky, oblivious to the tirade of insults from Zod's mouth. When the pod was finally out of sight she looked down at Kal-El and shed a tear onto the solemnly quiet baby. She whispered words of apology endlessly to the small child until a bright flash enveloped the planet of Krypton.
Koron's trip through space was uneventful and the Kryptoninan baby landed in remote farmland on the planet Earth. The pod had illuminated the sky as it cut through the darkness of night, eventually coming to rest in the middle of a cornfield. A farmer and his wife taking in the clear night sky hurried to the impact site and discovered the baby Koron. The advanced technology of the Kryptonians had meant that they discovered the English language long ago and so the note that Faora had left was clear to read. The couple read the note and combined with the method of Koron's arrival, they knew he was not from Earth.
His early days on the planet were highly stressful for the new family, Koron's exposure to the yellow sun's rays heightening his senses. This constant barrage of sound and sensations meant he was suffering from a consistent sensory overload. It took a whole month until he began to calm and eventually be able to master his senses. The mastery was more a natural development rather than any particular skill due to his very young age.
The farming couple, Harry and Elizabeth Irons had longed for children but infertility in Harry meant that natural conception wasn't an option. The two had been together since the beginning of high school and their love had blossomed into a wonderful life together. They were in the process of adoption but the arrival of Koron meant that they didn't follow through. They decided to give him a human name and chose the name Ricky, it was the name of Elizabeths younger brother who died when he was a baby.
It became apparent early on as a toddler that Ricky was capable of great feats of speed and strength. Harry and Elizabeth knew he was from another world but didn't expect any sort of super powers. They instilled in him from a young age that he needed to keep the powers to himself and never use them to hurt others. No matter how much he was teased, no matter how much he was chased, he had to restrain himself because he was beyond anything a normal human was capable of.
His school life was uneventful after he settled into a social circle that gave him some very close friends. He kept his abilities hidden and away from even his closest friends, that was how much he respected his adoptive parents. He loved them as much as any child could love their parents and they are also the reason why he became the hero he is.
After leaving high school Ricky headed to college to experience what it had to offer. His first year was a culture shock. The small town he had grown up in was a place where everyone knew everyone else, such was the small size of the place. The college in Metropolis had students that numbered the population of his hometown multiple times over. The tallest building he had ever seen was the spire of the local church, his dorm building dwarfed that without even considering the skyscrapers. He had to relearn to focus his senses with the vastly increased number of people and activity within Metropolis. In all his first year was a success and something he thoroughly enjoyed.
During his second year was when he first actively used his powers to fight crime. While out with friends they were caught up in a robbery of a gas station. In the commotion Ricky managed to get seperated from his friends. Using this opportunity he quickly subdued the criminals without anyone in the building knowing what happened. Seeing the relief on the faces of his friends and the owner of the gas station, he knew that he had to use his powers for good. Returning home he spoke to his parents who knew the day would have come eventually. They provided him with the suit that they found in the escape pod they had found him in and from that point forward he wore the attire when fighting crime.
The years that followed saw him graduate with his degree in environmental studies and subsequently become a park ranger just outside of Metropolis. The job itself was the perfect solution for him because it allowed him to spend his days outside in nature and more importantly, it would allow the freedom needed so that he can shoot off to fight villains when needed.

The telescope experience in the observatory had been enjoyable, even if Leo had managed to talk his way through the entire thing with absolutely no knowledge of the night sky. Even so, it was about the company and there was nobody he would rather be with at that moment. As they walked Leo put his Santa hat back on before putting his arm around Dustynn. It wasn't a conscious decision but a natural reaction to the moment. He felt a closeness to her that had been missing from his life and the past couple of hours had reinforced that to him. He could feel her body heat even through their multiple layers of clothing.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was something I always wanted to do and just thought it was a bit...different. We could have just gone to the cinema and gotten some food or gotten drunk." He paused for a moment realising his mistake and laughed. "Don't get me wrong, I love to get drunk as much as the next person...I just wanted to do something with you that wasn't totally cliche. Unfortunately things are likely to end up cliche as shit from this point onward." He turned down to Dustynn and smiled. The pair were walking down a snow covered path flanked by trees and streetlights. "I mean look at this path, it's clearly like something a romance movie. I can see it now, you'll slip, i'll land ontop of you, brief pause and then boom...kiss."
Unfortunately for Leo his prediction hat wasn't quite working right. With his next step the world began to spin and twist before finally becoming still. He found himself looking upwards at the night sky between the bare branches of the flanking trees. He could see Dustynn lean over to look down at him, his embarassment meant he decided to stay lying in the snow. He began to laugh to himself before looking directly at her. "Right...get the laughter out of the way, you know you want to." His voice was as sarcastic as the expression on his face as he waited for Dustynn to laugh at what could only be the workings of sods law.
Unfortunately the RP has gone in a direction I didnβt expect it to. So with that Iβll unfortunately have to say Iβm out. All the best going forward, hope it works out for you.
@Blackstripe Yeah Iβll make the switch, no problem. 25 years old but a bit childish and generally light hearted. Maybe somewhat Goku-esque if youβre at all familiar with Dragonball in terms of his personality.
Got the Mrs around tonight so likely wonβt be able to edit until tomorrow.
Would attempts to force confessions through fear be acceptable? Not saying torture but implied threats of violence like dangling a thief from the ledge of a building. Basically heβd be more Batman than anti-hero in his approach, using fear to get convictions while avoiding murder.
If thatβs still too out there and you want him to be even closer to the DC clean cut version of Superman than Iβll go with that.
