Everything that had happened during the recent battle was par for the course over the guilds recent exchanges. The Fists played up and tried to troll some of the lower level Lion members before realising that they were no match for the senior members of the team. Even those who preferred a steering wheel in hand over a gun made short work of The Fists finest fighters. The Lions were well known and more than anything, they were respected. While banter was always a part of combat the Lions had a reputation for being humble in defeat and victory...for the most part at least.
Ataxia returned from his designated room in the guilds complex, storing his items away and changing his avatars clothes to something much more his style. The casual suit was something he felt much more comfortable in and almost granted him instant bonus points in the DDR World. He had progressively gotten better over the past two years and was hoping to improve on last years result.
He caught little of the conversation before he returned but did get a glimpse of Rosetta flicking through the store...again. Whenever he looked her way she always seemed to have the store open but maybe he just timed his glances in her direction perfectly. Approaching the table Ataxia smiled and gestured to the group with a lax salute. "Rose are you ever going to get off that damn shop?" With a chuckle Ataxia took a seat next to her, nodding at Kasumi and giving Naomi a thumbs up.
Given the size of the table the lack of people sat at it Ataxia began to wonder if they had lost more people than he'd thought. He looked around the room to see if he could see anyone hiding but given how open it was, the chances were slim. "Where is everyone or did we lose more people that I thought?"

I'm good thanks!
The regular season had come to a close and for Leo he was granted a much needed rest. A long, tough season in his struggling regional team took the shine from the great performances of the Welsh national side. Even so, he was just glad to get a couple of months to rest his body. He had settled down for dinner with his parents at the house he had been brought up in, no amount of offering them money would get them to moved.
"So when are you bringing your girlfriend around Leo?" His smoke with the softest of voices but her words were calculated and cutting. She knew full well her son was single but she longed for grandchildren so would pester her son whatever chance she could get.
"Yes boy. The lads down the club are starting to talk...they reckon you might be...well you know..." Leo slowly rubbed at the bridge of his nose as his dad decided to share his thoughts.
"Jesus Christ dad are you serious?! Would it really matter if I was?" Leo's usual calm demeanour disappeared for a moment as he scolded his father. His words had hit home as the old mans expression turned to one that resembled someone with an itch they couldn't scratch, he clearly had a question.
After a few moments of biting his lip, Ieuen finally opened his mouth. "So are you?"
"Am I what? Gay?!" Leo's voice boomed through the dining room at the annoyance of his fathers ignorance. Leo had grown up in a world that was entirely different to what his dad had experienced, people were accepted no matter their differences. So after growing up with a truly diverse social circle, his fathers old views grated on him. With a deep sigh to calm himself Leo carried on. "No dad...i'm not. Just try and be a bit more accepting of the world yeah?"
The rest of dinner was uneventful as the family shared stories about what they had been up to for the last few weeks. When everyone was finished Leo stood to clear the table but was stopped as his mother grabbed his wrist and gestured for him to sit back down.
"Leo me and your dad have been talking and we have done something for you." Angharad's reassuring voice did little to stop the wave of nerves rushing over his body. Whenever his parents had done something for him previously it usually meant setting him up on dates with their best friends daughters.
"We haven't seen you with a girlfriend since you left school and your mother came across an advert on the TV. You've heard of TAP?" The words were what Leo dreaded, he had always thought his parents would sign him up for the Project but for it to happen...he sunk into his chair.
"Theresa's daughter down the street took part a couple of years ago and now shes happily married with babies." Leo rolled his eyes as his mother thought her words would make up for the continued meddling in his love life. While Leo hadn't really looked to settle down it was more due to choice to focus on his playing career rather than anything else. Before either parent could speak again Leo stood up, firmly placing his hands on the table.
"Right! I swear, this is the last time. If I accept you two must promise me you won't stick your noses in my love life any more? Deal?!" His parents looked at each other and nodded in unison. Leo sighed and sat back down in his chair. "Alright then...fine. I'll do it."
His mother clapped happily like a giddy school girl while his dad smiled from ear to ear. "Good lad! Good lad! Aggy go and get the dessert!"
Almost done unfortunately...thank's for visiting!

The reveal had been as gracious as all those before it: with a crescendo of text messages and notifications pinging every person who owned a phone, giving away to the students that a new secret had been revealed. This time, the chorus of pings and beeps were for him and, by the subject of his secret, also his best friend. The moment Trevor called him out was the scariest moment since the passing of his mother. He was scared about how Ara, his best friend since arriving in the small town, would react to the reveal. What if she didn’t want to see him anymore? What if the knowledge of everyone knowing what they had done meant she couldn’t stand to be around him? Those and many more thoughts ran rampant through Rob’s mind as their secret became public knowledge.
There was one thought that brought silence to the noise in his mind… Why was he so concerned? They were great friends who had been through a lot together and who knew each other inside and out. She would get over it eventually and they could carry on as if nothing happened...that’s what best friends do. This was different, though. This wasn’t the concern of things becoming awkward with a close friend… This was more.
While his friends tried to talk to him he could only focus on one person. Without so much as an excuse me he pushed past his friends mid-sentence and approached Ara, taking her by the hands. He leant down ever so slightly so he could see right into her eyes. ”Ara, can you please come with me? I don’t want to be in here.” His expression wasn’t one of sadness, disappointment or even anger. It was one of complete and total clarity.
The young man hurried outside with Ara while being cautious of her ridiculous heels; always with the heels. The cold air hit them both, causing Rob to slow down to a walk. He looked at Ara before taking off his jacket and putting it over her shoulders. ”Come with me.” He took her by the hand once more and the two continued on in the direction of the schools indoor pool. The music of the Homecoming party grew steadily quieter until finally it was nothing more than a murmur.
Opening the double doors to the pool Rob held the door open for Ara before following her inside. They were both greeted the magical glow that the pools lighting cast across the large space. Rob moved over to one of the bleachers before sitting down, taking a deep breath from the hurried escape they had just made.
He spent a few moments looking down at his hands in silence, nervously playing with his fingers. He slowly looked up at Ara and locked onto her eyes before he began to speak.
”Do you remember when we first met? You were like a kid with a new toy. I got about three words in before lunch and then another five before the end of the day. I thought that being the long haired fat kid, you were just being polite and the next day i’d be off on my own...but no. There you were again the second I walked into class. I’m pretty sure you dislocated my shoulder when you yanked me across the classroom.”
The memory etched a smile across Rob’s face with a muffled laugh escaping from between his lips. He turned to the pool and his mind began to go back over all the times they had shared.
“That’s where I knew that i’d have a friend for life. With everything we’ve been through and shared: the asshole ex-boyfriends, sleeping together...my mom...” Rob’s tone had taken a sudden serious and heart-wrenching tone. He could feel tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes, but he continued on. “ ....I had never felt scared or worried about losing you...not once, not ever...that was until tonight.”
Rob stood up and began to move towards the pool, taking in a deep breath to try and fight back the tears he could feel pooling.
”The second I realised what secret they were going to reveal for me tonight, I got scared. I haven’t stopped worrying that if I was right, then you’d never want to see me again. Whether it was being uncomfortable around everyone in school, our friends...”
His eyes looked down into the pool for a moment before turning around to Ara. He took her by the hand once more, the softness of her skin soothing the emotions flooding his body.
“I couldn’t work out why I was being so unreasonable or so concerned, our friendship goes beyond petty things like people knowing what we’ve done.” Looking down at his feet for a moment Rob steadied himself and the tone of his voice changed, becoming softer.
“Then with the secret out, everyone talking and staring at us… I came to a realization...” Rob raised his head and looked straight into her eyes with a look of pure sincerity. “When I’m with you, nothing else in this world matters. When I wake up, you’re the one thing I think about, and the one thing I go to sleep dreaming about. You’re the one I want with me when I’m happy and the one I one to go to when I’m sad… When it’s all said and done… You’re the one I want to be with. And I don’t care how strong a word it is: I love you Ara… I always have. it’s just taken until now to realise it.”
