Ellis was surprised and amazed at what she said. Luck, being her power? How does that work? Those questions, along with much, much more raced in his head, and he knew, the only way to understand if he sees it in action. "I could show you if you wanted, but you have to show me yours." she said. Taken out of context, that sentence could very well knock Ellis out.

"Sure. You already saw it, though." Ellis said, as he pointed to Mister. Mister then flickered, and blurred, and later, he was gone, and a cute, white rabbit half the size of Mister replaced him. "So yeah.. My power is illusion." he continued. He snapped his fingers, and the rabbit disappeared. Then, he beckoned Marie to look outside, where Ellis saw a copy of himself, waving at Marie.

"So, show me yours?" He said, genuinely curious of her power over luck.
"Likewise, Marie." Ellis said, as he took her hand. "Mew." said Mister, as he flickered. Ellis shook her soft hand too long, and released it as he realized. He worried that she would think he was even more strange than he was, but he ignored the thought. He was curious about her book, and why she said it was necessary. "So... I assume you believe in luck, then, since you're reading a book about fortune. I could be wrong, of course. Why did you say it seemed necessary, if you don't mind me asking?" Ellis said, and being a bit shy, the long string of words came out a bit weird.
A girl sat beside Ellis, and he was a bit surprised. "Hi." she said, and then put on her glasses. "Hey. I'm Ellis. This guy is Mister," he said, smiling, then pointed to the flying, transparent cat above his head. "What's your name?" Ellis asked her. He was curious why she sat there, but he didn't dwell on it. He was just glad that someone tried to talk to him, at least. He noticed her book, and he was genuinely interested, as he was somewhat a bookworm. He himself had a book in his bag, a book of magic tricks. "What's that about?" he said, pointing to the girl's book.

Ellis was still in a little bit of a daze when the bus finally arrived. The driver, Ron Wilson, showed a great deal of enthusiasm, which Ellis envied. The moment he fully snapped back to reality, he quickly went inside and sat in the middle, his cat floating, flickering behind him. He watched the scene outside and waited for it to change soon. He felt lonely, but he had a hope that it will change soon, when they arrive at Sky High.
It has, hasn't it.
