Hey everyone, I want to get involved with this RP but I've never done a mystery dungeon RP before. I've got a great character in mind (based on my very first RPG character), so is it OK if I give it a go?
I'm glad you like my character! I'm not actually too sure about his parents predicament, it was something I was planning to expound upon later during the roleplay. However, I'll PM you so we can discuss this further without anyone else hearing what could be important plot details.
Personality: Maksim is someone who puts pressure on others, and makes excuses for himself. He always wants to achieve the best he can do, but doesn't think he can do his best. While kind out of necessity, he lacks tact and is afraid to go all out. His dreams, bigger than anyone could imagine, are beyond the horizon. He may be searching, but he's looking in the wrong direction.
History: Maksim's parents was eager to move to Viore and start a new life together. Not too long after, they had their first child, Maksim. However, for unknown reasons, Maksim was forced to move away to his uncle, a miner in Rustboro City. An only child, he found most of his desires met by his hardworking carer. His uncle, who would seldom mention his parents, was a fantastic father figure to the boy. Always buying him heartfelt gifts even when he couldn't afford them, Maksim felt blessed. Over time, he learnt more and more about his father from his uncle, stories dripped through at bedtime. Maksim learnt about his father's journey as a Dragon trainer, and dreamt about his heroism. From a young age Maksim grew to love Dragon Pokemon. Some days he would go outside and see a Bagon, always eager to fly, hurl itself off the face in a childish attempt at flight. He had desperately wanted to catch it, but his uncle never let him up the dangerous mountain surface.
Maksim used to run around the house with a Bagon costume, too. It wasn't just a Bagon; all sorts of Dragon costumes his uncle had bought for him, each year him eagerly anticipating his first Pokemon - a dragon, obviously. He had such an obsession with the Elite Four member Drake, always watching him on television and rooting on him on all the televised Pokemon battle. Maksim developed a rather adorable impression of Drake's mannerisms and voice, even using a bundle of tissues as a pretend mustache, that his uncle adored.
When his time as a Pokemon trainer came around, it wasn't a Dragon as he had always been promised. His uncle got him a disgusting, green gecko-like creature. The Treecko, who was given the rather dull name of 'George' not even by Maksim, would go on to love the boy, although that bond was anything but mutual. As soon as he was old enough, he traveled to Johto to catch a real Dragon for himself, but George struggled to fight any of the more powerful creatures he was up against. The only fruit of his labour was a Larvitar, who although wasn't a Dragon, pleased Maksim enough to become his main Pokemon. The name took a lot of thought, but he eventually decided on Typhos.
With a Pokemon that pleased him for once, Maksim took the controversial decision to travel to Viore, one his Uncle abhorred. Still, he had a burning passion for Typhos in his heart to show off in the bustling ecosystem of Viore, while also adorning a headache for George.
Pokemon:
Pokemon ♂
George
George is not a brave Pokemon, but tries his hardest regardless. Although his trainer lacks faith in him, he's constantly vying for the day where someone can believe in him. He doesn't chew on a twig like other Treeckos, and his tail often drops to the ground when he's frightened, which is often.
Ability: Overgrow Moveset:
Quick Attack Double Team Absorb Pound
Pokemon ♂
Typhos
Typhos is a glutton and prefers to lay back in times of struggle. He's a hard creature to bargain with, but when he sets his sights on something, he almost always attains it. He works on his own mantra, and Maksim's urges for effort are usually ignored, even if Maksim doesn't realise it.
Nice map! Also, how dark are we going here? It's Pokemon, obviously, but I don't know how mature I should make my character. I'm not necessarily an expert in angst, but I like my characters having some pain and passion.
