@January Everything is fine. More than fine, actually. I like that you're not having him start out with his powers.
Lucas is accepted! Feel free to move him over to the Character Sheet tab when you're able to.
Currently as it stands I believe we already have our 2 Witches being made, and now we have 1 Sun Prince. I was thinking of making a Sun Prince as well but I'll wait and see what our other applicants put forth.
The ocean breeze danced through Tanzaku City during this fresh Spring night, bringing with it the salty, fresh scent of the sea. Clouds overcast the town, gently rolling across the night sky while the waning moon's glow shone through them. Tanzaku City shone brightly like a candle in the dark, it's residents not yet willing to go to sleep just yet. The sounds of laughter, music and cheering could be heard all through the city from various restaurants, night clubs, theaters and parks. They all lived such happy content lives on the surface. They would always remain blissfully ignorant to the damage their negative emotions could cause the town. That's just the way things are.
The chatter and jovial laughter started to become distorted, the towns people's voiced being muffled as if they were submerged underwater. Then, one by one, the street lights began to switch off. The tall skyscraper's light dimmed and faded, the people dancing in the park became blurry and unrecognisable and all the cars that sped through the streets came to a stop. Tanzaku Town was submerged in darkness. From this void, a single light appeared. The lonely street lamp shone a spotlight down onto the footpath, casting a long shadow out onto the road. With time, more street lamps would turn back on, casting their own shadows. One by one, each shadow began to distort and flicker to life; rising up from the ground and taking the form of a silhouette. The blurry visages of the townspeople walked by them without even blinking an eye. And why would they? They couldn't possibly comprehend them. They couldn't see the Shadows.
As the civilians walked past, the silhouettes turned on their spot to face them. In unison, they all elegantly raised their arm up in the air whilst simultaneously lifting one of their legs off the ground. Eerily, they began to dance whilst they stalked their prey. As they approached the humans, who were still unaware of their presence, the distortion surrounding them began to fade. The image of two young high school girls discussing the latest gossip as they giggled at their phones came clearly in to view. As they became clearer to see, so did the true form of the Shadows. The once human like silhouettes had began to drip away, revealing a small group of horrifyingly transfigured creatures. Each one unique in it's repulsiveness, their true forms appeared to be a strange mash up of various everyday items, people and plants all mangled together into a terrifying amalgamation.
They grew closer to the two young girls, hissing and screeching in anticipation of their prey. The one at front raised what looked to be a long, feminine leg covered in a fishnet stocking up towards one of the girls. At the end of the leg was a large crab claw instead of a foot, with two menacing eyes that gurgled and shifted position whilst hungrily staring at the two girls. It reached forward a few more inches, it's eyes leaking a putrid black substance while it voraciously tried to grasp at her hair. It's claw was only a second away when suddenly a white and red blur fell from the building above; crushing the Shadow underneath all it's weight. Unable to handle the impact, the Shadow erupted with black goo spreading all across the street. The two girls walked on, unharmed and unaware of what was happening behind them. Eventually their figures began to blur again once they were far enough away from the Shadows.
"Ugh, I hate this stuff." A voice spoke from the mass of darkness that was once a Shadow, stepping out covered in the horrid substance. The other Shadows stood silent, still processing that their prey was escaping. Their eyes wandered to the young man dressed in a Captain's uniform that now stood before them. The black goo had melted away off from his clothes, which now shone as brilliant as the stars in the night sky. "There's a lot of you out tonight. Looks like we'll be working until dawn." He sighed, his expression hardening with annoyance. The Shadows met his expression, readying to attack the one thing that stood between them and their food. One lunged forward first, raising it's large, knife like appendages to strike the Cosmic Prince in the heart.
Kim rose his longsword, effortlessly slicing away it's long, spindly arms with a single strike. The Shadow backed away, screeching as it assessed its wounds. Kim placed his sword in front of his face, keeping one fist behind his back. He stared down the Shadows with a furious expression. "I'm not going to have enough time to get my homework done because of you bastards!" Flourishing his blade with a finesse beyond his years, Kim lunged forward towards the small group of Shadows. They all reached out to strike him, but he had already passed through all of them in what seemed like an instant. Confused, the Shadows were barely able to turn around to where Kim was now standing before they heard the sound of him sheathing his blade. "Bloom!" At his command, a large thorny vine suddenly became visible to all of the Shadows. Ensnared by the magical plants, they tried to squirm before many beautiful red Roses bloomed around them. The petals scattered from the vine, whirling around as they violently tore the group of Shadows to shreds.
The explosion of black goo created a small tremor that shook the nearby streets. Of course, the civilians disregarded the event as just another minor earthquake. Kim brushed the substance off his shoulders, staring behind him as he saw the other Princes beginning to assemble. There were a lot out tonight; some he definitely recognised as Moon Princes. He sighed, knowing that his fellow Sun Princes would not be happy to see them in their territory. It annoyed him as well, though Kim was much more tolerable of the Moon Princes these days. The clouds parted above Kim, but even the light of the moon wasn't strong enough to penetrate the darkness that surrounded Tanzaku city tonight.
"Tell me something. Is there any point to us fighting?"
With the new generation of Cosmic Prince's assembled in Tanzaku City, the fight against the Shadows grows ever more hopeful. With so many Magical Boys running around each night, Shadows are barely getting a chance to cause any real harm. However the amount of competition seems to be a problem for some of the Sun Princes.
There has been talk that the Sun Princes are growing more territorial, claiming sections of the city as their hunting grounds and attacking any Moon Princes who try to reap their spoils. The conflict between these two groups grows thicker by the day and it's starting to seem as though the Princes are more interested in fighting each other than the Shadows.
While they bicker, the Witches scheme. Familiar activity has increased in the more quiet suburbs of Tanzaku City, drawing a lot of attention from the Princes. What do the Witches have to gain by attacking quiet residential areas? The whole thing seems sketchy, but the Princes have no choice but to investigate. Familiars can't be left alone, after all.
A Magical Boy Roleplay inspired by Madoka Magica. GM'd by Leslie Hall.
This is a Casual/High-Casual level modern fantasy roleplay. This roleplay may contain dark themes. Discretion is advised. Submitting a Character Sheet to this roleplay is proof that you have read and accepted the rules below.
✮ RPGuild Rules must be followed at all times.
✮ While the above rule covers this, I'd like to put emphasis on respecting one another. You don't have to be best buds with each other, but without mutual respect and communication this roleplay will fall apart.
✮ I am no ones mother here. If you and another roleplayer have a falling out, discuss it to each other in PM's.
✮ Romance between characters is allowed and encouraged. Nothing explicit. Normally I'd say take it to a PM, but our characters are minors so please... don't.
✮ As the GM, I have the final say in everything. This does not mean I'm not open to discussion or suggestions.
✮ General roleplaying rules. I am sure there won't be any problems here.
✮ This is a Casual to High-Casual level roleplay. Proper spelling and grammar is expected along with at least 2 paragraphs per post. I'm not the most strictest person about this. Mistakes happen, after all.
✮ If you are going to be absent for a substantial period of time, please let me know. I understand that sometimes things happen suddenly, so if you have to take an absence with no way of contacting me then do not worry; I am fairly lenient and your character will be kept in the RP for as long as possible.
✮ Currently we are only accepting 2 Witches.
✮ Anyone who writes a Witch, your Witch will not yet be at their full potential. A fully fledged Witch is capable of taking on multiple Cosmic Prince's and winning. I'd like to avoid this at the start of the Roleplay.
✮ The above rule also applies to Cosmic Prince's. You won't be starting off incredibly powerful.
✮ Currently, it's only one character per person. This may change later on.
✮ Our characters identity remain a secret when they are not hunting Shadows. Sun Princes will know who the other Sun Princes are, but not who the Moon Princes or Witches are. The same applies to the other factions.
The world is not perfect. It never was. Every minute of the day, each individual person is suffering from their own demons. Regret, anger, jealousy and hate. Humanity unwillingly sows the seeds of their own grief by letting these negative emotions consume their hearts. The collective malice of all that pain and suffering is powerful enough to manifest itself in the form of Shadows. Horrible creatures born from the negativity inside the hearts of every living person, Shadows roam the earth spreading disaster and chaos wherever they go. Left alone, a Shadow will feast off of the despair of their victims and grow stronger. That's where you come in.
Thousands of years ago, a group of heroes had a great power bestowed upon them. Using their newfound magical abilities, these valiant defenders of humanity were able to fight back against the Shadows. They were known as the Cosmic Princes, young adolescent boys with the power to transform into a magical being with extraordinary abilities. For years they protected the earth from Shadows, helping to keep people safe from their own malicious feelings. Yet even they were mortal.
When the Cosmic Princes met their end, usually in battle, there was no one left to defend the Earth. That was until a new group of Princes arose in the next generation of young boys. Reincarnations of their original Prince, these new Magical Boys picked up where their previous lives left off; fighting Shadows until they could no longer. Their plight would continue for centuries to come, though as time went by it became apparent that their was a divide in philosophies between the group of Magical Boys.
Unable to settle their differences, the Cosmic Princes split into two groups so that they could pursue their own goals. The Sun Princes turned fighting Shadows into more of a sport. Their group became much more focused on the power of an individual and the spectacle of the hunt. They are proud warriors who judge a Magical Boys worth by their prowess in combat. They are only interested in a challenge, tending to ignore smaller, less significant shadows while only seeking out the biggest threats to claim as their trophies.
This ideology clashes with that of the Moon Princes who remain true to their original purpose as Cosmic Princes. They are righteous defenders of the innocent who work to eradicate Shadows purely to protect humanity. No hunt is too small, no threat deemed insignificant. The Moon Princes would gladly give their life to keep the world safe from Shadows. Even throughout their various reincarnations, the feud between these two groups has remained strong. It is not uncommon for these two factions to argue and clash with each other, but when you get down to it they both have the same goals; destroy Shadows.
And right now, the world is in need of them more than ever.
and their Familiars.
"I can't wait to watch this world burn."
In almost all incarnations of Cosmic Princes, there has always been Chaos Witches. These enigmatic beings are more or less considered to be female counterparts to the Princes. Unfortunately, their intent is much more malicious. A Witch is a being who gains power from negative emotions. They have the ability to spread despair to humanity, forcing innocent people to create more Shadows. To make them even more of a threat, there is no way to determine if a person is a Witch unless they are transformed; the same with the Princes. Your sister, classmate or girlfriend could be a Witch and you would be none the wiser.
In addition to their Dark Magic, Witches are also able to create and control Familiars. A Familiar is an incredibly powerful Shadow that is formed from a Witches own negative emotions. While most Shadows are more animal like in behaviour, acting purely on instinct, a Familiar is capable of much more intelligent thought. This alone makes them a high priority target to both the Sun and Moon Princes. All of these aspects combined make Witches the largest threat to humanity. A fully fledged Witch is far too powerful for a Prince to take on by himself, usually calling for a combined effort just to defeat one Witch.
Over the millennia, the Cosmic Princes have never been able to determine the exact goals of the Chaos Witches. The only thing they're certain of is that they're a threat to humanity and must be eliminated.
and surrounding areas.
All locations mentioned are fictional, any relation to an actual place in Japan is purely coincidental.
Our story takes place in Tanzaku City, a large metropolitan city with a population of about two million located about an hour inland along the south-western coast of Japan. This bustling city is known for it's tall sky scrapers and livid night life. There's always something to do in Tanzaku City, from the beautiful city gardens and quaint cafe strips to the large shopping complexes and recreational centers. With a large amount of Witch activity recently being discovered at the heart of Tanzaku City, more and more Cosmic Princes are making their way to the town to help stop the Witches from consuming the city.
With Tanzaku City's excellent public transport system, it only takes a short twenty minute train ride South out of the city for you to reach Umiko Port, a small fishing town known for it's incredibly popular beach culture. In the summertime, many of the young residents of Tanzaku city like to spend their breaks enjoying the sunshine and crystal clear ocean. There are also various festivals held here annually, particularly at the large Shrine located just in the forests right on the outskirts of town.
There are also various residential areas that surround Tanzaku City. These suburbs are pretty quiet, sporting a few schools here and there. However the main school the local Cosmic Princes attend is Yagami High, located just outside the bustling city and easily accessible by bus, train or even in walking distance if you live in the heart of the city. The school has various culture and sports clubs which students can be a part of, as well as various facilities such as a science lab, theater, gymnasium and indoor swimming pool. The Cosmic Princes spend their days attending Yagami High while at night they hunt Shadows, hidden from view by regular humans.

The only role that is really limited is the Chaos Witches. That being said, I would prefer to keep this somewhat small. I'm not gonna turn anyone down while the RP is getting set up, but there will be a cut off point. So for now I'd it to be one character per person and then if we feel like we could use more then I'd be happy to allow an additional character.
