Oh no. How unfortunate.
A Canyon Title Deed? The plot thickens. It's so thick it could be FM's skull.

Who is this mysterious man? What is that strange book? Why is Oliver everyone's favorite character? all this and more, coming soon!

I think we're all good and ready for our first round of plot relevant posts. FM, explain to the people how plot relevant posts work.

just start the damn thing..

look out guys, there's a sassypants on the loose.

sass levels: CRITICAL
"Troublesome. Very troublesome indeed," sighed Mr. Teko, although Teruk gathered the impression that the elderly scrub was only half-listening. Normally one would find such a thing rude, but given how worried the old man seemed it was hard to blame him. The two scrubs, having finally made it into the park, now found themselves weaving through waves of pesky picnickers, half of whom seemed to be anxiously discussing the recent news while the other half sipped wine and ate cheese, blissfully unaware but nonetheless concerned about all the ruckus. "I would bet that a handful of our flock are already on their way back to the swamp to warn the king, so it's only a matter of time before I get word to uproot our group and head back home."

Apparently Mr. Teko had been listening, and had the presence of mind to make a clever (if likely unintentional) pun about the situation.

"If there is one thing that I like about our king, though, it's that he does not make a fool of himself in public. He prefers to do so in the privacy of his own court. Unlike the Zoras or the Gorons I doubt he will begin to demand answers or point fingers; His Majesty makes up his mind swiftly, and with little regard to the opinions of the other kingdoms. If you don't believe me, ask the monkeys. If you can find any, that is," smirked the elder scrub, making sure to avoid stepping in front of a heated game of croquet. Finally the two made it back to the familiar row of flowers that was the business scrub encampment. It seemed a bit emptier than before; just as Mr. Teko had predicted, about ten scrubs had already pulled out their flowers and left town, leaving only barren earth behind.

"Oh Teruk, thank goodness you're here!" cried Mrs. Teko, who, for those of you following along at home, was Mr. Teko's wife. The grandmother scrub waved Teruk over to a shady spot underneath a tree where Treka had been moved. Fortunately she seemed to have regained consciousness since Mr. Teko had left, but she still seemed rather shaken up. "She woke up about ten minutes after you left, I'd say. She's having trouble walking on her own but she seems stable to me. Is there something you could make to give her some strength back?" asked the old woman, still worried but obviously relieved now that Teruk was here. As the only person with any kind of talent for healing in their flock, he would be invaluable here. After all, it was unlikely that there were many doctors here in Clock Town that knew how to treat scrubfolk.

"What happened, Treka? Do you remember who attacked you?" asked Mr. Teko, kneeling down beside the young girl. Treka hesitated to answer, a look of confusion and nervousness on her face. "It's alright if you don't want to say yet, you can rest a while. I just want to make sure we let the guards know what happened so they can start their investigation."

"Well, it was very... strange," Treka began, sheepishly. She was never a very articulate person to begin with, and adding a nauseous haze on top of that didn't seem to be helping much. "He was an old man in a cloak with a really big nose. Very short, too. He came up to me and he asked me if I'd seen a swordsman wearing scalemail, a blue cape, and a bandanna on his head. I told him I hadn't seen anyone like that, but he kept saying that he came in through the park so I must have seen him. I kept telling him... that I didn't know this guy... but he started to get angry. I think he really wanted to find this guy," she explained. "He offered me a Canyon Title Deed. For Ikana."

"That's just not possible," interjected Mr. Teko, rather shocked by this news. "All the canyon title deeds were voided decades ago when the borders closed. A valid canyon title deed would be worth millions of rupees today. I know merchants who would literally kill to get one," he continued. "Did he show it to you?"

"He did. I was shocked too... my mother spent so much time just applying to get a deed for the carnival this year. It looked genuine too, not a forgery. It had the Ikana seal and it was dated... I think maybe... two months ago. I kept telling him I didn't know. Then he started threatening me, and I tried to call for help but no one was around and the guards were away at the speech. I'm not sure... I'm not really sure what happened after that. I woke up and Mrs. Teko was wailing and crying so hard. Sorry to be such a burden," she sighed. All this attention seemed to be taking its toll on the poor girl, who had never really stuck out all that much before. Now a crowd of scrubs were peering over at the commotion, whispering amongst themselves as prepared to set up shop again.
Well, he said he was officially working on the first post, so if I had to hazard a guess I would say roughly six to eight weeks, give or take a fortnight.

It takes time and pressure to make a diamond, so it's incredibly important that we keep nagging him about it to ensure that the first post is the best it can possibly be.
No, I just honestly have no idea what to put in Special Abilities when Standard and Force Abilities cover just about anything you could really say.

Plus everyone on the Sith Empire side seemed broody and super serious so I wanted to lighten things up a bit.
that's really your only problem with the sheet? I just kinda stopped caring at the end and put down whatever.

Works for me. Fixed the sheet. Looking forward to this.
s'all good in the hood, bruh

Let me know if I'm in or I'm audi.
Name: "Captain" Marko Brevi

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Species: Pantoran

Homeworld: Pantora IV

Current Residence: Aboard his starship, the Onward Undaunted, an XS Stock Light Freighter in desperate need of repairs. It is docked at the Dromund Kaas space port, currently undergoing maintenance to fix its hyperdrive.

Current Occupation: Marko formally introduces himself as a "private contractor", which, to put it concisely, means he will do shady things for money. In situations where revealing his criminal tendencies may not be the best idea, he always claims that he is a starship captain and a professional traveler.

Affiliation: Despite dealing with both the Republic and the Sith Empire in the past, Captain Marko Brevi does not feel that it is wise or necessary to exclusively take paychecks from one faction over another when he could just as easily take them from both.

Physical Info

Appearance: As a Pantoran, Marko stands a bit taller than the average human with royal blue skin and golden eyes. He is slimmer than most of his race, but he was never one for heavy lifting or close combat anyway. His face is somewhere between average and modestly handsome; his looks have never been particularly remarkable, but considering he spends most of his time wearing a fully enclosed helmet this isn't particularly important either. His head is shaved so as to not interfere too much with the aforementioned helmet. Unlike most seasoned scoundrels that have been all over the galaxy, Marko's face and body are relatively unscarred despite his many past injuries and brushes with death.

Casual Attire: On the rare occasions that Marko is not fearing for his safety, he prefers to wear the garb of a commoner so as to not draw attention to himself. Nondescript, hard to recognize tunics and trousers in the neutral shades of brown, tan and grey that nobody would really look at twice.

Battle Attire: At any time during which Marko feels he could be in danger, he will most likely be in his combat armor regardless of how uncomfortable it may be. Despite insisting that he's a private contractor and a consummate professional, Marko's gear seems like that of any other cut-rate mercenary, at least at a glance. He wears a brown hooded half-cloak that reaches down to his mid-thigh, a gray-blue combat suit that seems a little beat-up, thick tan cloth gloves and boots, and a tan-brown tactical vest with pockets for extra. However, to separate him from the riff-raff he competes with, Marko's attire includes a few choice armor pieces of surprising quality, detailed in the armor section.

Personal Info

Personality: Marko is a sleazy, arrogant, cowardly slimeball who lives his life under the impression that everyone else finds him absolutely charming and suave. He never hesitates to flaunt his (self-appointed) captaincy (of his laughably poor excuse for a ship and crew) or his (mostly false and seldom believed) reputation as a Jedi-hunter. Marko always puts his own safety first, and will not hesitate to run from a fight or betray his comrades to keep himself alive. Maintaining his reputation as a professional and highly skilled private contractor is also highly important to him, and he doesn't react well to others challenging his authority or his abilities. Marko usually tries to establish himself in leadership positions because he desires control, respect, and attention, even if he isn't a particularly good fit for the job. However, if he knows it's in his best interests to let someone else take charge, he will do so, albeit rather reluctantly. Marko thinks himself quite the clever manipulator, but he has a tendency to overestimate his own intelligence and end up being manipulated himself. Despite this, Marko can occasionally show moments of impressive cunning and intellect, and remains a skilled strategist and negotiator even with his often insufferable personality. He doesn't trust Jedi at all, even preferring the openly malicious and dishonest Sith over them, although he doesn't particularly care for any force users.

Connections:

Captain Florian Brevi: Marko's father and an actual starship captain for a shipping company after retiring from service with the Republic Navy. Although he's usually busy with work, Florian will occasionally visit Marko to yell at him to get a real job and say condescending things about the quality of his ship and crew. Florian is especially disappointed that Marko never enlisted with the Republic, claiming that his mother made him soft and brought him to his current life of misdeeds and miscreancy. Marko desires his approval greatly, but will never admit such things.

Reki Brand: Marko's cousin, fellow Pantoran, and first mate of the Onward Undaunted. Reki does his best to maintain the ship and keep Marko's ego in check in times of crisis. Despite Marko's immoral tendencies, it's pretty much an unspoken rule that the two will never betray one another because of their family ties. Reki is quiet, and the little that he does say is often some form of a sarcastic, deadpan quip. He doesn't much care for Marko, but continues to travel with him at the behest of Florian, who believes that Reki is more or less Marko's chaperon and caretaker. Reki is a skilled engineer and pilot, but is even more of a coward than Marko and seldom leaves the ship in unfamiliar territory. Despite all of Marko's boasting about being a starship captain, Reki does almost all of the navigating, piloting, and maintenance on the Undaunted; Marko just prefers to sit in the captains chair and take all the credit. Marko calls him Skipper, which Reki does not like very much at all.

History: Marko doesn't speak much about his early years, and while he is more than happy to share tales of his travels across the galaxy (most of which paint as much more heroic than what actually occurred), he rarely mentions anything before becoming captain of the Onward Undaunted, which he famously stole from six armed cartel thugs with nothing more than an unloaded holdout blaster (in reality, he purchased it from a junk dealer who was about to scrap it for parts, then killed the dealer shorty thereafter). Over the last 11 years, Marko and Reki have been the only consistent crew members of the Undaunted, as most everyone else either quits after a few jobs or encounters a "hazard" on the job after pissing Marko off in one way or another. Although Marko thinks himself a famous and renowned contractor across the entire galaxy, he's only really known in a few select systems where he's acquired small bounties for petty crimes.

Currently Marko is looking for one big job that will really put his name out there, and he hopes that helping the Sith Empire find this strange crystal artifact will be the boost he needs.

Combat Info

Weaponry:

The following weapons are kept on Marko's person in any typical combat situation:

E-301 Repeating Carbine: Marko's trusty rifle, kept on his back with a carrying strap. Unfortunately Marko's not a very good shot, nor particularly good at maintaining his weapons, so more often than not Marko will miss tough shots or fast targets. However, the E-301's fast rate of fire compensates for its inaccuracy somewhat, as he has an easier time spraying out a large quantity of blaster bolts or suppressing enemies at a distance.

Thermal Detonators (3, although he has spares on his ship): Powerful handheld grenades to be thrown at nearby foes. Marko can prime them with a shorter or longer fuse if need be.

Holdout Blaster: A small, somewhat weak blaster pistol kept concealed as a last resort. Marko refers to it as his ace in the hole. It is holstered in the small of his back for a quick draw, concealed by his cloak.

Stun Wand: A melee weapon roughly the size of a small baton, a small power cell at the tip of this heavy club like weapon emits an electric charge than can paralyze and stagger even the most resolute of foes. The weight and robustness of the wand also allows it to be used as a blunt weapon if Marko needs to opt for a more lethal melee option. It is clipped onto his belt for quick access.

The followings weapons are typically kept on Marko's ship:

Blast Cannon: More or less the blaster equivalent of a shotgun. This compact, maneuverable weapon fires a burst of several blaster bolts at once, making it ideal for close combat. Although the bolt spread is tight at close range, it gets considerably less accurate the further Marko is from his target, making it a fairly situational tool. Particularly effective against Jedi, who are incapable of reflecting the spray of bullets.

EL-85 Sonic Pistol: A compact blaster pistol that fires sonic blasts. Only used when Marko wants to subdue and not kill an opponent.

Non-Weapon Technology:

On his belt, Marko keeps a compact medkit, a utility vibro knife and a small spool of metal cord. In the folds of his cloak he keeps a small canteen, which is often filled with some kind of alcohol rather than water.

Armor:
Marko's personal safety is incredibly important to him, so he made sure not to skimp on his armor. Underneath his vest he wears a Verpine Zal Alloy Mesh chest piece with matching armor pads over his thighs, the best stuff he could afford. He prefers not to wear a full suit of the stuff most of the time so as to not slow him down too much, but the spare pieces are kept on his ship in storage in case he should need them for something particularly dangerous. The armor is fitted with a prototype Biorestorative Underlay Mark II from Czerka Labs, which speeds his recovery from wounds over extended periods of time. The restorative effects are not short term at all, but they can save him from death where others without the underlay would otherwise bleed out and perish.

His distinctive helmet was custom made to look particularly memorable, but still with some functionality. It has a fully functional respirator for use in hazardous environments, along with a small supply of air in case he is unable to breathe on his own. The helmet is temperature controlled and features reflective eyepieces to prevent him from losing his vision in bright environments. The heads-up-display is fairly basic, and only features a clock and a standard comlink feature. As a last resort, his helmet can release a burst of paralyzing nerve gas from its nosepiece in the rare event that he is both disarmed and subdued, but this is a single use feature and the concealed microcannister must refilled afterwards.

Standard Abilities:

Speed: Marko is a quick and agile man of superb fitness, affording him not only swiftness of foot but also abundant stamina. In a pinch, Marko rarely has trouble losing his pursuers should he feel it necessary to avoid a fight. Marko can keep pace for hours when on the retreat, a hard-earned talent afforded to him by years of cowardice.

Acrobatics: In line with his superb agility, Marko is also capable of traversing dangerous terrain and executing somewhat difficult acrobatic maneuvers. He carries himself gracefully and is hard to knock off balance, and won't hesitate to resort to risky parkour should it ease his escape or pursuit.

Resilience: As a result of many of his failures and defeats in the past, Marko can take more punishment than the average fighter and has a high pain tolerance. Many have wondered how Marko has managed to survive this long in his dangerous line of work, and it's almost entirely because of his ability to take a beating and keep moving.

Thievery: After years of doing shady things for money ("contracting"), Marko is an adept thief, capable of impressive feats of stealth and guile, including picking pockets and moving silently.

Piloting: Although Reki is a far superior pilot and takes control of the Undaunted during any real crisis, Marko can fly starships reasonably well.

Engineer: While Reki usually handles all the repairs on the ship, Marko is capable of basic maintenance on the Undaunted and knows his way around a computer console. Marko is also capable of repairing his own equipment in a pinch, although not nearly as well as a trained armor tech.

Force Abilities: Marko is not force sensitive and has a general distaste for most force users, but he never underestimates a Jedi's abilities in combat nonetheless.

Special Abilities:

Thick New Zealand Accent: The most special of all abilities. As shown in universe, the Pantoran people speak Basic with an accent almost exactly like that of a typical New Zealander. This is Marko's most precious and unique talent, hands down.

Bad At Arm Wrestling: Marko is not very good at arm wrestling. He could probably get better if he tried more, but he'll be embarrassed if he loses while a girl is watching.

Folding Clothes: Marko is freakishly good at folding garments of clothing to avoid wrinkles. Some say he even enjoys doing laundry, but to go that far would be a bit presumptuous.

Other Info

Notes:

Marko is always looking to recruit new members for his crew, even though they don't typically last very long and most that do survive attempt to betray him later. He never pays them up front, claiming that his wit and charm are compensation enough.
Now that I'm in the full throes of some #summerlovin and done with the pressures of school and clerkship I am going to be much more "on the ball" in the near future to make up for my very FM-esque (FMinate?) "off-the-ball" performance in the past weeks. Full speed ahead, y'all.
