Universes:

Is there anyone interested in a roleplay based in the Halo universe? Taking place after the defeat of the Didact at the end of Halo 4.

It doesn't have to follow the canon universe, and we could do whatever we like with it, but I was just wondering if anyone would join something like that?

I'm thinking it could revolve around mainly the criminal trials of ONI. Maybe ONI would go rogue or awol somewhere in the middle of their trials, reason could be discussed, and basically assemble a whole army of their own Spartans and start on this crazy "planetary conquest" mission as their own nation. Maybe they feel that if they ruled everyone at once, they could protect them better? Perhaps Catherine Halsey could spearhead the charge?

Gideon Alexander Archimedes

Standing at around 5'10, 175 lb., Gideon is a skinny, yet built, black haired mystery, at just past his mid-twenties. Light skinned, with deep blue eyes, Gideon has a reputation as a handsome charmer, but mainly seems to keep to himself. Quiet and collected, Gideon prides himself on letting his actions speak for him. Not too fond of people who are all talk and no action, Gideon can be diplomatic if needed, but prefers to deal with his problems hands on.

Gideon is a Freelancer, and to most people who know him, is a complete enigma. With a history like a ghost, Gideon just seemed to appear one day, and has been roaming throughout the territories ever since. Never in one place for more than a week, Gideon travels the continents in what seems to be a search for something, but nobody knows what. Rumor has it that perhaps Gideon is searching for something linked to before the end of the old world, but as of yet, nothing has been fully revealed. Without a background, and with no close acquaintances to tell his stories to, Gideon remains a quiet mystery.

----

Gideon carries on him two weapons, both of which seem to hold special places to him. The first, an old sword, appearing to be of a similar build to a Civil War cavalry sword. The sword is always in wonderful condition, appearing to be regularly maintained. In combat situations, Gideon seems to prefer his sword over any other weapon, and is highly skilled with it. The second weapon is an antique Colt Model 1858, which he keeps fully loaded and in a holster on his hip. It appears that he only uses it in extreme situations, but he seems to be a perfect shot with it. The only other equipment he carries with him is a backpack, of which the contents are anything from supplies, to clothes, to scavenged items.
They say that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. A great light to shine in the sky, and time. And there was morning, and there was evening: the first day. If humanity had ever possessed any sort of innocence or clarity, it must have faded as the time wore away. Somewhere along the road, humankind became selfish. We didn't care about anyone or anything else anymore. We sat in our homes, on our phones and computers. We wasted our resources and crippled our own world in the name of development. We didn't care that wars raged around us. We didn't pay attention to the signs. We took everything for granted, and when the world finally had enough...It struck back.

At first the virus appeared in small groups. They tested, they attempted to create vaccines, but no wall can hold back the hands of fate. By the time the dust had settled, three quarters of a once thriving humanity had gone, but that was only the beginning. The pandemic was only the key to the door, and It was humanity's own destructive nature, that opened it. As we began to repopulate and resettle, the aftermath of the viral Armageddon shaped our history. Our cities still stood tall and proud, but our countries, our banners: all had collapsed. Under their own flags, new nations and armies arose from the failure of their fallen world. Some took after the good of the past, some took after the lineage of the most hideous. Others followed a road completely their own. In the end, it wasn't the virus that killed the world, it was humanity itself; When any ruler with evil intention clinches nuclear power...There's bound to be an apocalypse to follow.

This is the world you live in, WE live in. The apocalypse has already passed, and now, we must all survive in a newly blossoming world. This is our new history. This is our life.

Anyone who attempts to trespass on our territories will be punished, or will they?

That's the name of the game in a world of old law, like a wild land grab, or as some could call it,

Encroachment.
FACTIONS

Russian Union: During the international infections of Ebersinia Pestisa, Russia and most of its neighbors took heavy blows. One of the first countries to fully collapse, next to America, by the time the pandemic had gone Russia was left a broken Union, which made it easier for them to become angry. Misled and weak, when unrest filled the world and nuclear war commenced, a good portion of the country was glassed. What emerged from the glass and rubble was a shadow of the people of the old Russia. Bitter at best, most of the newly founded "Russian Union" isn't even unified. Scattered across the remnants of Russia and it's neighboring countries, they struggle to survive, and do not hold back their resentment towards the world for their plagued existence. While they may seem broken, however, it is said that several officers survived the original disasters and currently help run what's left of their Union: spread thin and fighting off extinction.

People of Germany: The "People of Germany" established themselves in the wake of the pandemic in Germany, and by the time the bombs dropped, had managed to unite a good portion of countries surrounding them. Although the nuclear war supposedly completely destroyed them, the people who survived the attacks kept the name. More of a country-sized settlement than a real government body, the People of Germany run what's left of their country under rudimentary laws. Most crimes against them, no matter the size, are punishable by death. Due to their lack of actual government, settlers are left to settle their disputes amongst each other.

Order Of Ronin: Japan was one of the few island countries that made it through the nuclear war mainly unscathed, after having been nearly wiped out by EBP. After years of utter silence, a group calling themselves the "Order of Ronin" appeared, with initial sightings placing them in China. Although much is not known of them, mainly because they constantly are on the move, it is said that they originated in Japan. Running their order as more of a large moving settlement of mercenaries, the Ronin seem to believe deeply in honor. It is said that they would, however, sooner kill a stranger and take his coin for survival over recruiting him. Mysterious and deadly, most people tend to keep their distance.

N.U.S: The N.U.S or New United States, are what's left of the old American government. Broken, scattered, and on the run from just about everyone, the N.U.S appears as more of a failed rebellion than an actual force. Claiming constitutional rights to the grounds on which America used to stand, they mostly feel like they are entitled to whatever is on their land. Although they do seem self righteous, they allow for settlers and followers to vote and have input on anything that goes on within their settlements. Unfortunately for them, everyone seems to hate them.

Australia: The only country to survive both disasters mainly Untouched, Australia kept running itself the way it always had with minimal change, at least until they realized they were basically all alone. With no aid from anyone else, most electrical grids shutdown, and the internet gone, the isolation seemed to be their downfall. The government eventually, with the times, devolved into a run-by-the-people settlement. Although they aren't quite as violent as other settlements, they seem to be under-informed, if not completely ignorant, to what the outside world has become. All things aside, they are one of the biggest settlements for bartering.

The Drifted: When the nuclear war had ended, it left destruction on a massive scale, but nowhere near as massive as in the Middle East, which was completely leveled by explosions, and chaos. What was left behind after the war was nicknamed "Hell's Gateway"; A stretch of rubble and devastation reaching through most of the Middle Eastern countries, mainly Iraq and Iran. Out of Hell's Gateway, the drifted were born. Immoral and murderous raiders. It is thought that their psychotic personalities stemmed from the high radiation levels in Hell's Gateway. Their bodies adapted, but it left certain parts of their mind altered. They do what they want, and they take what they want, and anyone that gets in their way is just another hunk of meat; Most likely to be used as food for their pets, or sometimes, themselves. Although they're not considered United, and aren't seen as a government, some groups of Drifted have a brotherhood amongst themselves. Due to their hate, greed, and monstrous habits; The chances of the drifted uniting are basically zero, and probably for the better.

Freelancers: A Freelancer is a person or group of persons who do not reside in or fight for any governments or factions. Most Freelance groups share in the common goal of survival; Just trying to make a life for themselves in the world. They roam freely throughout the world, usually only staying in one place for a few weeks at the most. The trick to the Freelance population is that they're all different. Some will do whatever it takes to survive, some have families they're trying to protect, others are trying to find their place in humanity. Because of this, Freelancers are unpredictable, and usually live as drifters their whole lives; No friends, and no real home. The best word to discribe them is Individual, because no one Freelancer is ever the same as the next.

The West: Years after the nuclear war had crushed the world, the long stretch of desert land from California to Louisiana became known as "The West." Basically reverted to a more 1800's society, The West is inhabited by small independent settlements, freeloaders, scavengers, poachers, and just about anything else you can think of. The biggest settlement in The West is established around Dallas, Texas. Known as "Desperado Valley", the settlement uses Civil War era artillery to protect itself, and keep it's perimeter clean of enemies.
Welcome to Encroachment.

This post is an informative piece to teach you the basics of how everything works! Let's get started!

----

We'll start in the Characters tab! Here you can post your applications to be in the roleplay!

Applications should include:

An image of your character (or a descriptive paragraph of your character's features),

A bio containing your character's personality, background (past, present), and a short/medium length paragraph on your character's abilities and/or equipment,

And finally, a citation list for any information used. [ Note that citations are only needed if information has been obtained from any notable or official sources inlcuding but not limited to: wikis, blogs, official websites, archives, etc. ]

The Characters tab should be used for only the above. If you have submitted a character, approval will be noted with a short reply stating "[APPROVED]". If you are still awaiting or have not received approval, you can contact me via private message.

Oh, and don't forget to add the SECRET WORD somewhere in your character submission! It's somewhere in here, so I guess you'll just have to read through! (Secret Word will be updated from time to time, so keep a lookout) ;)

[NOTE]: A full list of factions can be found in the Characters tab.
----

Now for the OOC tab!

The OOC table should be used for any and all out of character discussion.

This includes:

Character discussion,

General roleplay discussion,

Interest check,

And anything else related to the roleplay.

[ If you have any questions, or complaints, they should be private messaged to me directly so I can assist you. Also note that any out of context discussions or issues which are un-related to the roleplay should be taken elsewhere, as not to muck up the flow of things. Thank you! ]

----

Finally, the IC tab!

The IC tab is for any direct "in-character" posts to the roleplay. The IC tab should not be used for out of character talk, such as complaints, questions, or basic discussions. All of the stated should be kept to the OOC tab to, as previously said, keep from mucking everything up.

----

There's only one overall rule for the roleplay, and that rule is:

Don't be a jerk.

Happy roleplaying! - Charming Thunder

Xyro Tesslar is of an alien species known to most as the Awoken. He has pale green skin, dark hair (which he keeps buzzed), and brightly emphasized glowing turquoise eyes. He has semi-sharp features and wears a set of custom armor, along with a custom built energy weapon.

Xyro is charming and easy to talk to. He is witty, smooth, and easy to relate to; his main downsides, however, are his recklessness, and his inner abandonment issues. Brought on from a severed relationship with his parents as a child, Xyro grew up compensating for his loneliness by acting out in a rebellious manner. From a young age, Xyro would push his limits and test his luck, performing acts with little to no regard for the apparent consequence of such actions. His recklessness in times of weakness can stand as an issue in dire situations, as he will act without properly thinking things through if he feels nervous or pressured. Despite his recklessness, Xyro is a mainly protective person; his reckless actions are usually more dangerous to his own health, and are frequently brought on by a desire to help or protect others without thought of himself. Due to Xyro's fear of abandonment, he will become agitated, remorseful, desperate, and sometimes delusional if he feels that he is going to lose someone he cares for. This causes Xyro to act irrationally, but also allows him to be a more dedicated and faithful partner, always wanting to make sure he expresses his feelings and need for the interaction and love of those he cares for.

Xyro carries a custom modified SABR (Solar Abrasive Beam Rifle) Mk.6. The SABR works by creating solar level radiation in a small reactive chamber, amplifying the radioactive energy through a series of lenses and mirrors, and concentrating the energy into a beam of white-hot solar light. A series of switches on the side of the weapon control the beams intensity and concentration level, allowing the weapon to be adjusted for various environments. The weapons apparent power comes at the cost of weight and maneuverability. Due to the extent of the weapons build, it is more geared towards use as a long or mid range rifle, and not so much as an easily handled close quarters weapon. Because of this, Xyro usually resorts to his standard issue Deacon X3 phaser pistol in situations that would put him in close quarters, or call for quick movement. Xyro also possesses the ability to summon his loyal pet owl Iccha, a jet black barn with sharpened metal claw extensions.

Xyro was born in the Awoken home settlement known as "The Reef." His father, Tero, was killed in service of the queen. Soon after, stricken by grief over the loss of her husband, his mother Kal left her son (four years old) in the care of an Exo named Terrin. Terrin, at the time, lived in the earth's capitol city surrounding the "Tower". Xyro would stay in her care until the age of 17, upon which time he spent intervals in and out of juvenile facilities, usually for trespassing on private property to climb buildings. At the age of 20, having left his adopted mother with a large sum of money gained from unknown source, Xyro made his way off planet and back to the Reef to confront his biological mother. Not much is known of what unfolded during his trip, and the Awoken queen does not seem to want anyone to know. After the confrontation at the reef, records indicate that Xyro moved somewhere out of galaxy, where he stayed for several years building his reputation and sending money to Terrin with the help of an unknown colleague.

Three years after resurrection - The New Dreemurr Kingdom - Surface

"Do you really think this color suits the place?" Asriel asked one of his advisors, referring to a dark shade of purple that was being tested on his chamber walls. The small armless monster nodded quickly, reassuring Asriel that the purple was ideal to match the new kingdoms colors. "Well, whatever you say. I trust your design taste. Go ahead and have them paint it all that color." And with that Asriel made his way back to the throne room. "I guess it's back to sitting in this big chair, again..." His tone reflected his boredom with sitting and seeing ambassadors come in or out all day, having to deal with all of the new political power he now had. "I swear, if one more human comes in here to talk finances I'm going to tear the fur off my head..."

Asriel Dreemurr, the new king of the monsters. Although many think he is too young to be ruler, he leads his subjects respectively, using his parents as personal advisors.

----

In his past, Asriel was simply a young child, born to Toriel and Asgore Dreemurr: the king and queen of the old Dreemurr Kingdom. After the events preceding the arrival of Frisk, however, Asriel's soul was seemingly destroyed. Long before Frisk arrived in the underground, Asriel's soul had been reincarnated by the king's personal scientist, Alphys. Using a concentrated synthetic Determination, Asriel was reborn as Flowey, a sinister, emotionless flower with the power to save and reset the world at will, much like Frisk. After an epic final battle, in which Flowey absorbs the souls of all monsters at once and is reborn as God of Hyperdeath, Asriel is spared by Frisk and regains his emotions for a moment, long enough for him to spare Frisk and use his newfound power to shatter the barrier that was sealing the underground from the surface, releasing the monsters from their captivity. Asriel then converted back to Flowey, but without his ability to manipulate the timeline.

Several years later, upon the discovery that Asriel's true soul was still floating deep inside Flowey's own determination, Alphys and a group of human scientists were able to run an experiment that rejoined Asriel's original soul, and split it from Flowey's. Asriel was successfully revived, in his fully grown form, and returned to the kingdom where his duties, and family, were waiting. Flowey was kept in solitary confinement, only to be visited by Frisk and Asriel himself.

After the retirement of king Asgore, the crown was passed on to Asriel, and the duties of running the new surface kingdom along with it. Asriel now faces growing tension between his own kingdom and a neighboring human colony that hold a prejudice of monsters.

----

Asriel has many powers, and if pushed to assume his hyperdeath form, can release massive bursts of magic energy from his paws, and use various forms of magic. While in hyperdeath form, he also gains a pair of huge, ethereal wings, with which he can fly at lightning fast speeds, and maneuver better. This, paired with his dual swords, make him a powerful opponent.

Asriel's main weakness is his remaining innocence. Not used to the new world, Asriel is still a shy boy inside, and therefore has trouble grasping his new adult responsibilities. This, paired with a fear for losing the ones he loves, can be used against him with powerful mental results. Asriel is also not immortal, even in his hyperdeath form. He can still be injured, and can still suffer death.
