The Greed of Dwarves
King Dulrum Blackbeard IV has died. A grand coronation is held for his son and heir, Durm Blackbeard II. Royalty and nobility from all over the land are invited to attend, and at the same time say farewell to the late King Dulrum IV. In a bold and unorthodox move, King Durm II has invited not only the humans and his dwarven kin of the south, but even the elves of Aeglos. Dwarves and elves almost never get along, so this alone has caught the attention of many a commoner, nobleman or other. Even the shifty Lilitu have been invited, although they despise being underground so if they would even show up is a different matter.

In a twist of fate, the player-controlled characters are attending the coronation and funeral. This may be because of a previous quest they had undertaken which had led them here, or perhaps it is because they are merchants who come to seek fortune in the new king's halls. After all, inviting almost every civilized nation on the continent might make for some special trade opportunities.
Other characters might be here because they have heard the tales of the ancient artifacts that the dwarves have uncovered in their deep diggings. The choice is entirely up to the player, but it is crucial that they stay for the coronation. Any commoner would, after all.

(Map is still WIP)

Aeglos - The home of the northern elves.
Dulrum - The home of the northern dwarves.
Highrise - The home of the southern dwarves.
Blackspikes - A massive chain of mountains that reach upwards like spikes into the sky. It blocks off most of the passage between the north and south of the main continent, so travelling from north to south is mostly by boat.
Blackspikes and it's southern woods are said to be home to mythical and legendary creatures...
Fleet's End - The southern coast of the continental mainland is strewn with massive reefs and cliffs that make the waters almost impossible to traverse by boats. Only smaller ships may dare to challange the dangers of Fleet's End, but very few survive.
Lonepeak - A large, solitary mountain in the south-east peninsula that the humans have used in the past to mine great amounts of ores, until they realized that Goblins in massive numbers live under the mountain. Few dare to venture near the abandoned mines, and the name Lonepeak speaks both for it's solitary position and it's earlier abandonment.
The Spine - A wide range of mountains in the south-east peninsula that acts both as a resource of wealth for the entire region. When Lonepeak went out of comission, large operations were instead set up in The Spine, which has since become vital to the human Kingdom.
The Bulwark - The Bulwark acts as a wall between the two human kingdoms of the south; Alimor (east) and Sudreik (west). Uneasy friends at best and rivals at worst, the two nations have had a hard time settling their differences over the last 300 years.
Sun Isles - Home to the Halflings, the isles are generally considered a green temperate paradise. (Overexhagerated, of course).
Frontier Bay - Named so for the hundreds of ships lost in battle between the humans on the south side of the bay and the Lares of the north side of the bay.
Storm Isles - Named so part wrongfully. Contrary to popular belief, the Storm Isles aren't surrounded by storms all the time, but has rather gained the name because storms tend to brew up extremely fast in this region when they do, compared to other regions.
Traversing the sea is still possible, however.
Stormfront - The exception of the description above. By the coast, the Stormfront experiences storms almost always, and as so the two largest closest islands near the coast is almost impossible to navigate to, despite the short distance. Inland, in the pineforest live the Ogres, dark and brutish.

(Cities):
Mithrond - Between Fleet's End, the Bulwark and the Spine lies a large, sprawling warrior-city. Here is the home of the minotaur, and they are not as dumb or brutish as one might think...
Gabriel grinned. "Sorry, just teasing you again. But yeah pizza sounds great!" he said and followed her out. To Vanessa it might've been a surprise to see the others still waiting for Gabriel, but it wasn't anything unusual. They respected him and always waited for him before doing something together. Gabriel looked at Robyn a moment and scanned her new clothing with his eyes. "Vanessa's right, it does suit you." She smiled playfully at him and gave him a very light punch on the shoulder.
When everyone was seated, Thomas looked quite upset. "This table is HUGE! It could hold like 50 people! How rich was your family?!" he burst out and looked at Vanessa. The others simply laughed it off. "More like 20 people." said Conrad and gave the kid a grin.
Everyone loved pizza, of course and they dug in immediately. Gabriel glanced over at the others. Next to him at the head of the table sat Vanessa. Next to them sat Conrad and Jaze and on the row next to them sat Robyn and Thomas. Vanessa presented her favourite pizza however, which made Gabriel snap out of his current thought. "Holy moons, this looks gorgeous!" he exclaimed, making the others look at him funny. "What? It's a really nice pizza." he said to in response to their grins and playfull mockery.

After eating, they all looked incredibly satisfied. Due to their werewolf genes, they eat quite a lot so each had gobbled up at least one pizza.
Gabriel looked at Vanessa. "Truly, we have been blessed by meeting you." he said with a smile. The others smiled too and everyone looked at her in gratitude. "We haven't eaten this well since... Oh I can't even remember when." Conrad said, wiping his mouth with a paper towel. "Amen to that!" Thomas burst out, leaning back in his chair.
They all had a huge respect for Vanessa and clearly, it showed. In their pack hierarchy, she had quickly taken her place among them without even knowing it.
Gabriel smiled wide at her response. How sweet of her, he thought. She could tell she was a little shy so he got dressed rather quickly. Although he didn't think about how his shirt had come off, Vanessa told him how. ''You fell asleep quite fast.. So ehm.. I took the shirt off.. But, left the pants on, I didn't know how to take them of without waking you...'' she said, and then her cheeks turned red. "Oh my god you're adorable." Gabriel said and laughed, and then she got up and walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him. He kinda liked it when she put her head against his chest. It was cute, and sort of romantic. "I am glad you guys are here now too." she whispered and looked up at him. He wasn't sure what she meant, but he thought that maybe she was lonely, and had been for a long time. "We sure are glad to be here." he said softly and wrapped one arm around her waist and stroked her hair with the other.
He couldn't help himself. He closed his eyes, leaned in and kissed her on the lips. He held her close, loved to embrace her and kept kissing her.
He hoped he didn't overdo it, but he wasn't exactly in the right mind to think about that.

He paused for a moment, and pulled his head back to look at her. He remembered how red she had turned when he pulled her onto his bare chest and grinned teasingly and said "Maybe I should take my shirt off again."
"It... Feels like every bone in my body is... Broken..." Julius groaned as audibly as he could. He didn't think of the fact that the girls had checked his junk... AT FIRST. Then he realized where he was and who exactly lived here. "Wait..." he said and glanced to the side (moving his head hurt too much so he just glanced around with his eyes). His eyes met hers, you all know who. His broken face turned red like a tomato as he looked at her pretty face for a moment. She had freckles, red hair, beautiful eyes, and lips that looked softer than ... Whatever is the softest in the world! He couldn't come with something fitting as a metaphor in his head. He groaned and looked away, trying to play it cool.
He looked at the girl who had healed him. He couldn't recall hearing any names but she had said this is the most healing she has ever done to someone in one sitting. "Thanks for... Helping me." he managed to vocalize and even managed a tiny smile at the girl before going back to groaning in pain. "You're right... I can't stay here..."
They're quite charismatic. he thought to himself as they argued. One of them wanted to throw him out, the other wanted to break the rules and let him stay so that he wouldn't... Y'know, die. He appreciated the gesture and didn't hold it against the other girl that she wanted to throw him out. After all, it was like that older girl with the hammer had said... Lauzurus will eat you whole.

The others looked at Jenny, and Julius could tell she became nervous. She seemed shy, probably wasn't used to making big decisions or having multiple pair of eyes upon her at once. She asked him of his opinion. That's nice. he thought, and began to answer.
"Please... Find a teacher. Someone who can ... Help." he whispered. "I'd rather not die today... Or any other day..."
His thoughts drifted away to the harsh days of the north. When food was low and massive blizzards rolled in during the 'winter'-season, as if there was actually a summer worth mentioning up there. The point was, this was much like those harsh blizzards. If you're caught out unprepared, eventually the blizzard would take you, hold you down. Eventually you couldn't move, would just lie down in the snow and slowly freeze to death.
It had almost happened to Julius once, when he was younger. Luckily his older brothers were talented trackers and had a physique like giants. They managed to best the blizzard and bring Julius home, and he had survived.
Much like that time, Julius was determined to live. "I will live." he said to himself, unintentionally out loud. He closed his eyes and focused on breathing. "Please get help." he said calmly but hoarsly to the girls.

Just my luck. he continued his thinking. First I'm shanked by some lowly goblin, then my wounds are opened by the weapons trainer and I'm beaten to a pulp, and my own determination brings me to make a deal with a senior student who almost kills me with a massive hammer.
He snickered to himself, but regretted doing so as he felt sharp pains in his chest afterward. He grimaced. Lauzurus truly is a strange place.

Julius is filled with... Determination.

(( Oh gee I wonder what that line is a reference to ))
Conrad happily did as he was told, showered, got back up and woke the others with Robyn. Everyone else got up with the same enthusiasm about Pizza, and waited eagerly when the doorbell rang.

Gabriel opened his eyes slowly when he heard the bell. He groaned and closed them again, having no idea what the deal was. He fell asleep again within seconds, but woke up to Vanessa's soft voice speaking beside him. He could feel her hand on his chest, her warm lips as they kissed his cheek. He smiled and opened his eyes. "Hey... Pizza?" was all he could say. He groaned and sat up in bed, to wake up better. He took hold of Vanessa's hand and moved a bit inward on the bed, so that she could sit on the edge of the bed beside him.
If she did, he would wrap his arms around her in a hug. "That was quite a nice awakening." he said with a raspy just-woke-up-voice. "I kinda hope you do that more."
He kissed her neck and looked at her with a smile. "I bet the others are like happy children, am I right? They all love pizza I'm sure." he said, and gave her a quick kiss before getting up from the bed to put his shirt back on. He had slept with his pants on for some reason.
How's it goin' buddy?
That sounds good to me :D
No rush, buddy, I was just checking if you were ok :)
Maybe we should talk about what we want to happen next, like what direction we want to take the story. I was thinking Gabriel becomes burdened by his past later because he feels guilty about killing Vanessa's parents and then keeping it from her while still accepting her love. Or something. Or is that too much drama?
Hey friend. You alright?
Vanessa realized something, and typed on the keyboard. Conrad didn't really care that much, so he waited politely. Then, she explained her feeling. "So you feel like you know him?" he said, looking concerned. He remembered the story Gabriel had told them earlier. Feeling like they know each other might not be a good thing. "And you feel as if fate brought you together? Fate it is, then." he said and smiled. It must indeed be fate, that they reunite after all these years. Although, if only Vanessa knew the horrible truth... Conrad doubted she would still love Gabriel. He didn't know all the details about the story, but he knew what Gabriel had done on the night of his turning... And it wasn't pretty.
"It makes me happy that you feel safe around him. That's what we feel too. In our group, we're all family, and Gabriel is the one who brought us together and protected us through the years. I've never met a ... Stronger... Person." Conrad spoke, and put his hand on Vanessa's shoulder and smiled. "I'll go wake the others, we can't sleep the entire day away. Besides, I'm aching for some pizza!"
With that, Conrad left to wake the others from their sleep. Once he came up the stairs however, he saw Robyn had already woke up. "Hey, we're ordering pizza appearantly." Conrad said to her. "I was going to wake you guys but I realize it might take a while for the delivery man to get out here... So I suppose we can wait a few more minutes." Robyn brushed the tiredness out of her eyes. "Pizza?! That's awesome!" she said, enthusiastic. "I haven't had real pizza in forever!" Conrad smiled in response.
