The cactus wins. Cacti are more resilient, since they have evolved to survive in deserts. They can conserve more water, and their spines, which are actually modified leaves, work effectively in fending off predators.

John tiredly flicked through the pages of a worn-out travel guide. He was on Vasishka, a planet wherein the magical and technological mingled together. Far away, there would be Frixon Prime, a terraformed world filled with mechanical wonders and nose-bleedingly complex devices. Also separated from Vasishka was Ecetopia, a planet filled with wonders magical and arcane.

Was the land he called Kiarath actually known as Ecetopia to the common folk? John did not care at all. All the crazy stuff that had happened in the past would be better off to be considered as a dream. A very elaborate dream. Suddenly...

"EYY, mahn! You take care of youself! Sivvy want you to get along!"

Some weird man (@Mistiel) had just screamed right at the two people robot and the cowboy with the weird hat (@Arawak and @0Z) who were sitting beside him. He then proceeded to run out of the bar in a rushed sprint.

Gee, that man had almost broken John's composure.

"Rastafarians on this planet must be very noisy."

John, having finished his lemonade, decided to walk out of the bar. Maybe he would find something interesting to do?

Wolfram is an interstellar vagabond. He brings the gift of life to chosen planets, and it is his habit to watch the emergence and growth of various intelligent species. He has mapped out many patterns of the growth of civilizations, and he stops by planets wherein advanced creatures thrive once in a while to refuel himself and his spaceship.

• ⁽⁴⁾ Cyberlingualism: Wolfram's strongest asset. He can "speak" to technology.
  Upon using a signal to "interlock" with a piece of technology, he may gain access to its applications and system. Using this, Wolfram can detect any nearby networks of data and gain access to them. He can analyze the structure of any applications implemented by a machine, thus making his access to data invulnerable to security systems. This allows him to quickly learn how to use various coding languages. However, Wolfram may not forcefully change or edit the structure of the programs present within a network or device without a proper medium.
  
  More Details

  If anybody is manually operating the system that Wolfram is trying to access, then he/she/it (in case the entity is another persona or an asexual alien) will be able to track Wolfram's access and can try to nullify it. If Wolfram uses a computer or any viable device to do the "hacking", it becomes more offensive and irresistible. However, that would take him utmost focus and energy.
• ⁽³⁾ Robotic Exoskeleton: Wolfram is essentially a robot. He can survive in environments wherein other humans may otherwise succumb to the elements. However, this does not make him completely indestructible. Wolfram will cease all operations when his Core runs out of power.

• ⁽⁴⁾ The Core: The Core is an object of spherical structure that facilitates Wolfram's abilities to learn and feel emotion. It is outfitted with an inlet that acts as an electrical socket. The Core is located in Wolfram's chest compartment. When the Core is fully charged, it can stay active for a total of nine months. When it is out of power, Wolfram will cease all his operational functions and enter an inanimate state of hibernation.
  
• ⁽³⁾ Tesla Module: The Tesla Module allows Wolfram to create electrical charges. Its purpose was originally used to empower dysfunctional devices. However, when the situation is crucial, Wolfram may use it to create lightning and zap any threats, much like the late Nikola Tesla's Teleforce Death Ray.
• ⁽³⁾ Autonomous Support Drone (ASD) The ASD is a support drone designed to be Wolfram's "assistant". It is telepathically linked to Wolfram, and it provides him with a wider range of view. It can also zoom into objects at microscopic levels, and it supports infared vision. Without the ASD, Wolfram's range of view would be limited, thanks to the shape of his head. The drone has an AI of its own, although it submits to Wolfram's orders.
  
• ⁽⁴⁾ The Black Beauty: Wolfram's spaceship. It is not a combat ship, but it does have some very useful equipment.
  
  
  • ⁽³⁾ Computer: This computer was created to synchronize with Wolfram's cyberlingualistic abilities. He uses it co communicate with the pilots of other ships. If any hostile intentions are sensed by Wolfram, he may use the computer to offensively hack into the enemy spaceship's control systems.
  • ⁽³⁾ "Life Station" This station of the ship contains incubators that allow the preservation of biological organisms. It is also used in seeding barren planets and in stimulating ecological succession in planets with suitable conditions. To do that, Wolfram keeps a nifty collection of microorganisms, lichens, and other pioneer species.
• ⁽²⁾ Plasma Pistol: As last resort.

Elpoy does not actually aim to become a professional hero. He simply wants to help his family escape poverty. Elpoy may seem laid-back at first glance, but he is surprisingly very hardworking. Aside from that, he is quick witted and hardy. He does not complain no matter what, and he even turns down help that is offered to him. He also feels uneasy when surrounded by pretty women.

Elpoy does speak English. He just...isn't very good at it.

The Story

Elpoy Diaz was born in some unidentified slum in the Filipino city of Manila. His father, Armando Diaz,
was a construction worker who lived on pan de sal and instant coffee. His mother, Victorina Diaz, was a housewife who looked after the house while his father would do his work. He lived a humble life, and he studied his way into high school.

Elpoy discovered his quirk at a young age. His father, who had a similar quirk, helped Elpoy develop his talent. Soon, Elpoy would help his father in construction work. He never thought of being a hero, since he did not want all the publicity that the actors and politicians would get. He wanted to become an engineer at first, so that he could design buildings and landmarks.

Elpoy's father soon found work in the the USA. He worked at a grocery store, and earned significantly more from his new job. Elpoy was pressured to get used to speaking the English language, but he got used to it. Elpoy lived a quiet life until one fateful day.

One day, Elpoy was bullied by a gang of teenage deliquents for having such a ridiculous accent. He got into a street fight, and he defeated the entire gang of unwary teenagers by storm. Some guy who worked for the academy noticed Elpoy's great talent. He introduced himself as Antonino De Jesus, a janitor at the facility. He referred Elpoy to a prestigious hero program located in New York City. Elpoy's parents were excited, since they were at the verge of escaping poverty. Elpoy was reluctantly sent to the academy at his parents' request.

Sure, he did not want all the publicity, but he swore that he would get his family out of poverty. From there, his journey started.

Quirk: "Structural Manipulation"
My own take on Edward Elric's ability. Ever heard of Fullmetal Alchemist?

When Elpoy comes into contact with a solid object, he may manipulate its structure. For example, he can cause a solid wall of concrete to grow spikes or shapeshift into the shape of a giraffe with much focus.

Elpoy does this simply by emitting some sort of vibrant energy in the solid object. The quirk may only be used within a circular area with a diameter of 10 meters, and transmutations must start at the point of contact. Another major drawback to the quirk is that solid objects are bound by the Law of Conservation of Mass, and Elpoy can not create things out of thin air. He can project walls out of the floor of a basketball court, but he cannot terraform the entire building without using an inhuman amount of effort. Still, Elpoy's quirk leaves lots of room for improvisation, and he can use it in many ways, whether he is in combat or not.

Talents and Skills

• Elpoy possesses high spatial intelligence. This helps him handle his ability with ease. It also gives him a good sense of direction.
• When Elpoy is faced with close-quarters combat, he resorts to an improvised version of Arnis.
• Elpoy has been hardened by poverty. He is spendthrifty, and he can endure hunger and exposure to the elements.
• Elpoy is talented at MOBA and FPS games.
