Kiaba used heavy-handed charity!
-Kiaba-

Kiaba turned to try and salvage something from this conversation when his eyes caught on the school flag, or rather what remained of the school flag. Fire! he thought, When...? Was it her? Is she threatening me? Suddenly angry, Kiaba rushed forward to grab her hand and stop her. "Hey! That's..."

He stopped dead when he felt the skin of her palm, still unnaturally hot and covered in blisters. Why would she go this far just to threaten me? Did she lose control? suddenly feeling guilty, he moved to turn her hand palm up, bringing the other hand with his phone up and tapping a few buttons to a shortcut labeled 'Healing'.

Within a moment of the song starting, streamers of light rose from his hand through hers. He didn't know enough about human physiology yet to completely erase the burn, but he did know how a burn treatment worked, and could produce the same effects if he focused hard enough. sweat beaded on his forehead as the rest of the world fell away, leaving only his hand, her hand and the music, conducting his light like a composer would conduct the symphony itself. The burn was small and not severe, so it only took half a minute to return the skin to its original smooth state. It would itch quite a bit for a few minutes afterward, he knew, but the hand was healthy again.

"I'm sorry..." He mumbled, dropping her hand again. "I didn't mean..."
"You're annoying."

That's all she said to him. Those words rang in Kiaba's head like a bell, resonating through his core in an uncomfortable way. His distress was plain as he lost his grip on his abilities, dark wisps rising from his skin like steam.

"I'm sorry," He said, rubbing the back of his neck for comfort, "I didn't mean to bother you. I just wanted to apologize if I... offended you... earlier." He noticed the wisps as he spoke and turned some of his attention to bringing them in. He would never be happy wearing his emotions on his sleeve like this, and he was sure it was part of why people like Atsu found him annoying. You could only go so long with your anger painted on your skin before you gave up trying to be stoic and cool. It didn't take him long to bring himself back to normalcy, though the occasional flicker still escaped whenever he lost focus.

You could hang out with me, I haven't gotten around to posting yet.
I'm not trying to be critical of you, I'm enjoying myself here. There are just certain situations that are easy to avoid.
@sassy1085

That's fair, but can I ask that you give us a heads up in that case? I've had some bad experiences with people just dropping in, and it's given me some knee-jerk reactions.
I'm tired. I've been trying to get a post together, but I keep winding up scrapping it.
-Kiaba-

Kiaba kept his seet as everyone piled out of the auditorium, sitting in silence with his eyes closed. It wasn't often, but sometimes he just enjoyed letting the world exist around him, in those rare times he felt he could almost feel the buzz of reality on his skin. That feeling that he was close to something, some basic understanding of the will or the universe. Then, all too suddenly, it slipped from his grip, just like every other time. With a sigh, he took his headphones from his bag and slipped them over his head, fishing his phone out of his pocket to plug them in. Just before he unlocked it to start his music, though, he caught sight of a barely familiar head through the thinning crowd of students. I should leave her alone, right? he thought, standing up, I don't think she enjoys talking to people. Or maybe I just said something stupid. Did I offend her? I should apologize. What am I apologizing for? Whatever, I'll figure it out by the time I get there.

His mind made up, Kiaba crossed the room against the flow of bodies, struggling toward his goal.

"Hey," he said once he was sure he was in earshot. "I'm... sorry? I think? Did I make you mad earlier?"

"Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap."

Takemi held her bag to her chest as she tried to speedwalk even faster, weaving between people on her way to school.

"Stupid alarm. Stupid comfy bed. Stupid raid scheduling. I'm so late!"

She tried to take deep breaths as she picked up her pace. She was almost outright running at this point, but every second she wasn't at school was a second someone might notice she was missing. She still had some time before her classes started, but there was supposed to be an orientation or something today. Keeping the rest of her comments to herself in order to conserve breath, she turned the last corner before the school buildings came into view.

Gonna make it, yes! she congratulated herself, taking a mental fistpump in victory. Now all I have to do is find the library. Nobody can blame me too much if I lost track of time studying.
