In their first ever city-wide broadcast, Ditch has mentioned a father. (More to come IC.)
Appearance:
No one knows Ditch's true face. If they ever broadcast their face, it's hooded with a skeleton mask. You can hardly even tell their gender, because they muffle their voice using audio software.
Method of Operation:
Ditch has never been seen in the flesh. They are known to stop crimes through technology, and though it is unknown if they have superpowers, most assume. Any cyber crimes, or crimes that are committed through the use of technology, are almost always stopped by Ditch. Someone sending an email with launch codes? Never sends, deleted from the system. Bank accounts being drained by hackers? Oh, looks like your computer's fried. Every time they stop a crime, a message pops up on the closest tech item, saying, "Looks like you're stuck. -Ditch." Through doing this, the name Ditch has become very well known. Only once has Ditch broadcasted to every screen in the city, warning them of Umbra.
Hey I was wondering If we could add Equipment and Skills & Abilities to the Character Sheet?
Only because some characters including mine have gadgets to compliment their powers or maybe skills outside of their superpower that might be relevant to their vigilante career like lockpicking or martial arts.
By the way did you see my suggestion for the city? I'm going to use 'Millennium City' in my CS just as a working title and am willing to change it if you decide to call the city something else, hope that's okay?
Ahh! Yes! That is actually something I want to add to the CS for everyone, thank you for reminding me! I will do that in just a moment.
You can use Millennium City as a placeholder for now, but I don't think that's what I'll be naming it in the end. :)
@CloudyBlueDay You should tag the others so they know the ooc is up ^^
Ooh! On the RP site I'm more frequent in, people get notifications if they've simply posted in that thread. Thank you for the tip!
In this world, super powers exist. It's something that the population has always known about, and accepted, somewhat. You could say it's like having skin of color. You still live. In some places, you can thrive. But people who hate you will still exist, not for who you are, but for what you look like. That's exactly what having super powers is like. You still live. But most fear you, shun you, simply because you carry this gift you did not ask for. A gift you did not get to choose.
Some embrace it, while some go down below the surface and never come back up. We have "heroes". People who try to give supers a good name. Stupid people, who wear capes and spandex, and are so clouded with hope they fall before they get the chance to fly.
No. You're not that stupid.
You want to help. You believe that you can. But you're smarter then that. You know what you're about to delve into.. has to be done oh so carefully. You? You're not a hero. You're not a villain either. You were breaking the law before this just by existing, could it really hurt to break a few more?
A vigilante. That's what you are. Someone plain by day, something more by night. You do what you can to help this corrupted city, you do what you can to protect the innocent. But the key to staying alive? Confidentiality. You work alone.
Well, you did.
A powerful evil has awoken within your city. He introduced himself as Umbra, and his motivation is unknown. He's killed over ten innocent and you've only know of his presence a week and just recently, took a vigilante hostage. It's clear you're no match for him alone.. you decide it's best to hide.
That is, until you receive an email. An email from the vigilante Ditch. You've heard of them before - either a crazy skilled hacker or a super with technology related powers. They're known to close off bank accounts of criminals, cause cars to crash, and wreak havoc to those who deserve it. They're powerful.
They suggest a meeting. They suggest banding together with other vigilantes in order to stop Umbra. Are you done working alone? Are you prepared to face this evil with a whole bunch of strangers?
You're life isn't going to be the same after this. But you were never normal anyway.
Some More Info
On Superpowers Superpowers need to be balanced, with weaknesses and strengths. I totally encourage unique, less popular powers, and even if you do something like fire manipulation, put a spin on it somehow! Make it.. so only fire comes out of your face! Oh wait.
But!
There are some superpowers that I am going to straight-up ban right now for plot purposes and OP-ness.
Mind Reading/Telepathy
Power Mimicry
Time Travel (Even if it's like only two seconds back in time. Nope.)
There would be a lot more powers on this list, like super speed, teleportation, etc, but those can be accepted with careful moderation. Of course, these are superpowers. They're all OP in their own right. We're just trying to make it so that people can't go exploding people's heads and ruining the roleplay, aye? Also, if you've read all of this, good! Put "We're not normal" In the extra section of your CS.
On Actual Roleplaying I expect good grammar and minimal typos in your posts, which should be 2+ paragraphs. Though of course, everyone has off nights and the occasional typo gets past us, but do try. ;w;
Though I do want you guys to participate in helping the plot along, creating twists that relate to your character's past, it would be appreciated if you posted your ideas in the OOC, so everyone can offer their input , perhaps to make your idea even better! I, as the GM, do plan to be the driving force of the RP, giving you a main goal to accomplish and bringing us all together, but I am totally for hearing your ideas, developing your characters, and more!
Playing NPC's is also something I hope everyone will have a chance to do. To play an NPC, you'll send me a simple CS (much less detailed than the one for your PC) and I will approve it. Then you can begin to involve your NPC in the story!
On The City As mentioned in the Interest Check, our city is largely based off of NYC. If you took Gotham and NYC and smashed it together, that's our city. Busy, bustling, skyscrapers and the like, but lots of crime, corrupt police, politicians, gangs and even a few cults here and there. It's an innocent place at day and a terrifying place at night.
Characters
Be sure to make balanced characters, that have both flaws and strengths. Though we may have superpowers, we're still human. ^ _^
Name: Quote: Alias: Age: Gender: Family: Occupation: (If any) Appearance: (1+ paragraphs detailing your character's appearance, picture(s) are optional. (Real life, cartoon, anime, anything is fine.). Be sure to describe their daily attire as well as their costume if they have one for in-the-flesh operations) Method of Operation: (Describe to us how your character does their vigilante work. Do they ever engage in physical combat? Do they make themselves known, or does no one know they exist?) Superpower: (Be sure to include how it works, it's weaknesses, and it's strengths.) Skills: (Not necessarily combat skills.) Equipment: Personality: (2+ paragraphs) Biography: (Be sure to include when they discovered their superpowers (it can be apparent at birth, or show up at a later time in their life) and when they decided to become a vigilante) Theme Song: (Optional) Relationships: (Optional, discuss this with other players!) Extra:
Levi Lynn - Static - Electricity Manipulation Valencia Matthews - Graffiti - Air Pressure Manipulation Aurora Lorell - Raven Tale - Story Creation Manhattan McClain - Omega - Gravity Manipulation Jason Grave - Turn Back - Kinetic Absorption and Redistribution
I'm interested in this~ But I have a question? Are Super powers a recent happening or has it been around for a long time in this universe? I had an idea for an ex-sidekick like hero fighting crime while they were young but instead got disillusioned by superheroing when their teacher/parental figure got killed and they were ridiculed after death for letting a preteen fight gang members and other criminals. I wanted to know if that would be possible in the Rp.
Though it took me a minute to figure out what you meant, yes, that type of character would be allowed.
In this world, super powers exist. It's something that the population has always known about, and accepted, somewhat.
Here, I did make a little nod to superpowers being around for a long time, but I don''t think it was clear enough. Yes, superpowers have been around a long time. :)
why not? I'll change it a bit but this what her last profile.
Civilian name: Kaite Siree
Alias: has no idea
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Hero or villain: Hero, but dose not know if she should be there at all.
Civilian looks:
Has pale red eyes that are said to have been unnerving to look at so she keeps her eyes closed. Stands in at 5'6 weighs in at 132 pounds
whereas riding jeans and T shirts, likes comfortability over appearance. Her family had to make her show outfits and desinge her costume just in case she had to use her abilities in public.
Costume:
Allows her to gain mobility needed for her style. Her belt holds three books that she uses as a catalyst for her abilities.
Powers: Kaite is able to recite tales that shes been told and bring forth parts of it to the real world. This is limited to pieces that have a particularly strong impact on her. Separated in three books for memories which are tales for past events, fears that are tales that caused her pain or terror and dreams which are things she thought herself, she can have creatures or objects from the stories help her.
Weakness is this can only work so long as she is sound in mind. If someone plays on her fears and it works than the creatures would turn on her in an instant, only way to stop them is to close the book she has open. So far she can only bring forth things that resemble what is here in the real world and are often simple outlines due to her inability to see.
Skills: Due to her family she is an amazing horse back rider, her hearing is stronger than normal and has an amazing memory.
Personality: A calming personality, Kaite is a soft spoken woman that usually speaks in riddles. Is almost never seen angry and hardly ever raises her voice. Shes someone who can almost always keep a level head but because of her strange appearance accompanied by her voice many tend to give her a wide girth. Though those that know her will say everything changes when shes riding.
Bio: Kaite was born into the business of horses. Her father a trick rider and her mother a cross country racer the two were a power house in the horse world. Before she was even born they were getting her ready with what style and what horse she would ride only for their dreams to be crushed when they saw her for the first time. A tiny albino who's retinas never even developed leaving her blind.
yet that did not stop the Siree from living up to her family's potential. Every night her mother would read her a story, and feeling through her family’s barn she would speak to the animals inside and tell them the tales in a vivid imagination that she alone could see. It gave her a connection with them. At age 4 she was already riding, and at age six she was competing in not only trick riding, but cross country and dressage. Staying obsessed with telling her companions the tales that were told to her she began to create her own, her parents staying up for hours to write down the girl's vivid imagination in Braille so that she could go back and read it herself. Her dreams, her memories, her nightmares, everything that happened that left a impact would go down in Braille in one of her many books.
At age 13 she was already on the fast track to compete in the Olympics, her book open she listened to the nickering of her stallion. Her words echoing through the stall, a tale of a black fox that could never be caught, only to hear the cry of one such creature. Her horse spooking at the strange sight of a shadow of a fox, the animal ended up kicking her, her team thinking that she broke her leg ended up pulling her out of the show. Its still only known by a few that one of the Olympic riders has ability. Now its being covered up as much as possible. Fear dancing in her families eyes that someone would believe that her powers aloud her to gain the upper hand in sports.
Theme outside of battle: battle theme:
Interesting character. She does need some touching-up, I see a few grammar issues and typos that need to be fixed but otherwise I like the idea.
I'm interested. Would like to know more about Ditch and the city the RP is based in.
I can tell you some info now!
I'm still trying to find a good name for the city, but it's going to be largely based of NYC. Y'know, smash NYC and Gotham together, and you have our city. Busy, bustling, skyscrapers and the like, but lots of crime, corrupt police, politicians, gangs and even a few cults here and there. It's an innocent place at day and a terrifying place at night. Suggestions are welcome.
I believe Ditch will be my character. I'm trying to decide if they will be more of an NPC, but I am leaning towards them being my character. Probably going to keep info about them on the down low, so I can do a whole big fancy mystery reveal! Which will come fairly soon in the RP, of course, so no worries. I won't tease you for long.
interested, had a woman who was blind with some vary interesting back story and powers made but the RP I posted for fell apart. Would love to try and give her some creation again.
She would definetly fit here, and I'd love to see her! I've actually been in quite a few superhero RPs that have blind chars. They work well.
