Annnnnnd Coastal's back
He's reading slow AF rn tho
:b

Well who could fuckin' blame me? Most of it was typed in all white it hurts my damn eyes just thinkin' of scrolling through it. Gotta take my time so I don't get bloody dizzy!

All jokes aside you all did an awesome job and props for securing your positions in game. It was well worth the eye strain, I assure you. I'll post as the Page later on in the morning. Thanks for the patients.
Oh! We're still accepting characters. PM them to me for acceptance before adding them to the list of characters.
First of all, each of you has done an amazing job with these Characters honestly, they all sound really cool!

I'm not one of those GM's who need to post first to assert dominance, so you all can get a head start on meeting one another and raising hell in game before the Page shows up, (They will show up at sundown* at the Inn At the Edge of the World).

*In game, since we're in different timezones.

Keep in mind that:

  • In game time is close to evening so most businesses are closing their doors (e.g. Weapon-Smiths and Apothecary) while others are just getting started (e.g. Taverns and The Naughty Nymph)
  • For those who will post soon, please try not to kill anyone. Fights on the other hand... Just make sure its with another player, no randomized opponents. Why make friends when you can make enemies?
  • Also, I'll give you all a 30min notice before I'll post as the Page.

In the interim, think about which fate the Page should meet:

Will the Page find themselves in good company and subsequently welcomed to the world of Piracy?

Or

Will the Page be robbed of the map potentially killed in the process?

Cast your votes in PM and I'll announce the verdict
I'm currently reading all of the CS's. I'll PM you once you're approved.
Or meant to provide answers for questions before they start. Looking at my character, one might wonder about how he got all this- the backstory stalls peoples' accusations of pulling something out of my arse...

I argue that it would create a more authentic experience. Pirates are an untrustworthy lot, even amongst one another. It would lead to your character having to gain the trust and respect of his fellow crew members. Sure you're character would be heavily scrutinized. But they are making a very tall claim and should be expected to back up their story for themselves, not through OOC intervention. If they have to argue their authenticity to others, so be it. Part of the experience is to get sized up quite a lot.
@Coastal
You're gonna have to make up some names for the major continents and nations of the world.
I've got a realistic Scholar, based in the real-world Earth.

@LokiLeo789 has a... guy who lives more in the, what, World of Warcraft universe?

Leo's character has drow caverns and magic. My character is studying culture and the like, with a side of science in the older-era of today's Earth

That's part of the reason why I didn't add anything in the CS about the characters history. I had a tenuous grasp on what this World had to offer in the first place, and you can't create a history without a world. There is no context. I mentioned that this is our world to build. It's not some lazy tactic on my part to get out of world building. I honestly want input from the other people playing (preferably in PM) to ensure that there is diversity in character backgrounds.

Also, posting a character history is masturbatory(as in self-serving/self-indulgent). It's more practical to have an understanding of where your own character is coming from and to reveal bits and pieces of their backstory in game as they interact with others. Adds mystique to the charcater and insentive to get to know them. If you want me to approve of the history, that's fine, pm it to me. But not here in the OOC. Same goes for the World building suggestions. Thats my fault, I failed to make that clear.
Well I still get points for being 2 minutes short of success. Thanks for the heads up, mate. Hadn't even considered that people might loose interest till you said so. I owe you one.
Avan's Cove

One day in the small port city of Courtshore a Page walks the halls of the courthouse. They pass by the Judge’s office door which has been left ajar. They pause and overhear a correspondence between said Judge and a person accused of piracy. The Accused attempts to bribe the Judge to avoid their hanging for the next day.

Their offer?

Treasures of mass proportions stashed on an uncharted island by an elusive yet successful Pirate, Captain Jalil Avan of Persia. There are no maps to this island but the Accused promises that they could navigate any ship to the treasure. The Judge would simply fund the expedition. As Captain of the ship, the Accused would ensure that the Judge was paid for his/her mercy. The Judge considers this offer. Finally they make their demand: Unless they provide a map before morning, the Accused is to be hung for piracy.

The Pirate is escorted to their cell and the young Page slips off unnoticed. At dusk, the Page is instructed to retrieve a parchment of utmost importance from the Jailer to be delivered to the Naval Captain. The Page, bored with their lowly job and eager for adventure, contemplates their actions upon retrieving the parchment. They could run off with the map and lead the next big discovery of the century!

After much consideration, the Page dismisses their dream as foolish and hands the parchment to the Naval Captain with a heavy heart. As soon as the Head of Navy feasts his eyes upon the parchment, he swears loudly and throws the parchment to the floor. He then tells the Page that the map is useless. Written in a code by the illiterate knave. Stunned at the news, the Page quickly retrieves the parchment before racing off to deliver the news to the Judge.

The Naval Captain is crestfallen. The Judge is under scrutiny. The Pirate is hung the next morning. The Page leaves town that night carrying with them the map to Avan's Cove.

The Page would be bound to a more infamous port city to the north of Courtshore. The City of Bastion.
This city was heavily populated and crime ridden. Crooks of all sorts could be seen in the streets, young and old, rich or poor. Bastion is where most major pirate expeditions known to the region had been assembled. It is in this city, on a humid summer night, that the Page sought refuge. Too young to drink, too poor for a meal, and staggering from exhaustion, the Page made their way into a dimly lit Inn. This is where the real adventure begins.
