Name: Lauren Burleigh
Username: KeyLime
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Appearance:
Personality: Lauren is a stubborn young woman, fighting for things to go her way. Outwardly, she projects an aura of maturity, but as soon as the situation turns against her favor that aura is quickly replaced by childish tantrums. She is used to being in control, so when control is taken away from her she tends to become less energetic and even sometimes depressed. She doesn't have many acquaintances, but she is extremely loyal to anyone she considers her friends. She is honest, sometimes brutally so, which may put some people off. Overall, though, once you can get on her good side, she is a nice, if single-minded person.
History: Lauren has had a fairly average life. She was born to a middle-class family, with one older brother. Lauren's parents pampered her for the first few years of life, leading her to be slightly spoiled. This outlook diminished over the course of her high school days, as she met and interacted with more different types of people. She began to realize how well off she was compared to some of her other classmates and toned down her attitude, although some of her personality remained. When she got to university, she had to make all new friends and up until the time of her transportation to the game world, she didn't have that many.

Lauren has been a gamer all her life. It started with console games, as her brother had a Nintendo 64 that she'd get a few turns in. She often liked to play it by herself, but her brother didn't like that she was hogging the system. So, when the brother moved away to an American college he took the console with him. Lauren, however, was unperturbed, as she simply moved onto computer games. her favorite games are strategy games, although she does play a few MMORPGs.

The Land of Espereox
The land of Espereox. A strange world that combines low and urban fantasies with magical technologies. For centuries, humans have been the dominant species of this world, with expansive civilizations that stretched across the landscape. They lived in harmony with the other races and species of the world, willing to conduct trade and diplomacy with the elves, the werebeasts, the vampires etc., but the humans' technological and social expansions far outclassed those of all over living species. The humans were humble enough, at least, to understand the importance of symbiosis. In exchange for sharing their advances with the other races, they were given advances in return. The elves shared the secrets of magic, and the two races, working in tandem, managed to harness magical energy for use in technology. Magical tech quickly became the biggest technology used throughout the world. Espereox was an idealistic world with an idealistic future.

But one day, things started to change. Violent outbursts from other species started, few at first, but slowly increasing in frequency. Certain races started to become corrupted, the corruption spreading like a disease throughout the populations. Humans and elves were lucky. The were advanced enough to migrate away from their corrupted brethren. Other races were not so lucky. There were few werebeasts that escaped unscathed, and vampires were overtaken entirely. Scholars and scientists scrambled to figure out the source of this corruption and the violence, while the population was herded into small cities, as large civilations fell. With most of Espereox overtaken by the wilderness, work continued behind the scenes, with scientists trying to find causes for the change in behavior and scholars scouring ancient texts for any prophecies that might explain the events. However, the information was too fragmented; there were too many missing pieces. They surmised that more evidence might exist in the wilderness, but it was too dangerous for anyone to venture outside the towns. Everyone who was combat capable already had their hands full trying to keep the remaining pockets of civilization.

That's when mysterious warriors appeared in the small town of Dawngarden. Literally appearing in flashes of light, They were seen as saviors and sent to fight the violent species and corrupted races. They were tasked with reclaiming and purifying the world.

Game Mechanics
When the players awake, they will find themselves in a dark void. A dialog box will pop up in front of the player, asking, firstly, for them to enter a username. Afterwards, they will be asked to choose the class type they would like to play.

The basic classes are as follows:

Afterwards, the players appear in the town of Dawngarden.
The main stats of importance are Strength, Dexterity, Resolve, Intelligence, Wisdom, Spirit, and Luck. All other stats in the game are based off of these main stats. These stats are increased through leveling up or the use of certain rare items. The level cap is 70. Equipment does not affect the main stats, only the sub stats that the equips apply to.

The characters can access their inventory, character status, quest log, etc. by consciously thinking about pulling them up, and closing them in the same fashion. Spells can be cast by thinking about them, and consumable items materialize in their hands in the same fashion. Items can also be retrieved from the inventory by physically reaching into their bag and thinking of a specific item to pull out. Gold can be retrieved in the same way.

Character avatars are physically identical to the person's appearance in real life. Avatars can not be changed be what can be changed in real life. Equipment magically changes size to accommodate the physical stature of the characters, as long as it is appropriate for their class. All text and speech is universally translated into the language the speaker is most comfortable with.

Rules:

  1. No godmodding, metagaming, or powerplaying.

  2. The beginning of RP will take place in the real world, and will last one or two posts per character. Use it to establish your character, flesh out their personality, show how they found the website, etc.

  3. Your character must have clicked the secret link and seen the thank you page to be transported. I would like to see this either outrighted stated or at least implied in you first posts.

  4. As this is a casual RP, please have each post be at least a paragraph or two. However, I believe that one-liners have their place, if they are used in the right situation. This should be used VERY rarely, and it will be up to my discretion.

  5. You do not need to track every in-game stat about your character, however please try to keep it reasonable, and have realistic reactions to things that happen. If your mage gets directly hit by an attack, they should get knocked back, flinch, etc.

  6. Do not bring OOC disputes into IC, and vice versa.

  7. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. However, be aware that I reserve the right to refuse to answer questions that could be considered spoilers.

  8. Most of all, have fun!

"So, you consider yourself a gamer, huh? Why do you play, hmm? Do you play for fun? Do you play for the challenge? Or maybe it's for some other reason? Is it an escape? Some sort of wish fulfillment, perhaps? Have you ever trying playing a game... to escape the game?"

"...What's that, you say? That's impossible?"

"You're about to find out how wrong you are."

The Manual
The year is 2018. Honestly, nothing much has changed. There have been no huge jumps in technology, no breakthroughs in science, or culture, or anything like that. It's about as present day as present day can get. For most people, the world goes on as it has, and as it will be.

You love to play video games. Some would use the term 'gamer' to describe you, but most people see it as a somewhat outdated term. After all, so many people play games at the very least casually that using the word 'gamer' to describe such a huge group is meaningless.

But no, you love playing video games. And you may play for different reasons. You might play it because it's relaxing, you might play to escape from the monotony of the real world. Some of you might place gaming as a higher priority than socializing, hygiene, and the like. Some of you might even be normal. But still, playing games is a passion for you, not just a hobby.

And you've watched the anime, or at least heard about it, right? Sword Art Online or, if you're really classy, Log Horizon? Those tales of players getting stuck in their game world and fighting to escape? No problem, you'd think. You'd go to town with an opportunity like that, right? But, technology hasn't progressed that far, and even if it did, there would be safety measures. There was no way the scientific community would allow something like SAO to happen.

There was no way some sort of supernatural force would do just that.

There was no way you'd be taken in your sleep.

There was no way it would be a game no one's ever seen before.
March 12th, 2018: A user on a popular message board discovers the website "www.resetreality.com".

Most people see the minimalistic website and laugh. Most of the discussion passes it off as a terrible joke, or a very bad attempt at an alternate universe game. The discussions only last about 3 pages before most forget about it.

March 31th, 2018: Another user discovers a change on the website.

Many users note the strange timing of the update. The general consensus becomes that it is a bad attempt at an April Fools joke.

Someone discovers a hidden link on the page, hidden in the period at the end of the first sentence. For most people, clicking the link simply returns a "server not found" error. For a small amount of people, however, this page appears.

Those who share this information with the rest of the board are dismissed, as, for the majority of the board, this doesn't happen.

April 1st, 2018: Several people from around the world, mostly teens, suddenly enter a coma in their sleep.

OOC
You play a character who goes to sleep one day, only to wake up in a video game. The characters won't necessarily know each other. To escape back to the real world, your character has to beat the game, by reaching the level cap and beating the final boss. It will soon become apparent that the game isn't... working as it should. And the rest is spoilers.

This will be a character focused RP; the main point will be the characters reacting to the changes that happen, both when they first get transported to the world, and when world slowly deviates from how a game is supposed to work. The game world is fantasy, but with more modern elements than what most think of when they think fantasy. More info will be revealed about the world as the players progress and level up.
