Hi! I’ve been looking for an rp like this since I joined the guild, care to save me a spot? Oh and a quick question can we make up our own species or they have to be one of the three you created?
Skraal observed Ukdur rally his army with real fascination. The chaotically organized fashion in which the blood hungry orcs moved was captivating. After years of observing the hordes move the paladin had concluded that the trick to their brutal efficiency on the battlefield was precisely that unpredictability and impressiveness. This was the exact opposite of what he employed, for the elegant manner in which his forces could dispatch enemies would strike as much fear as a wave of giant crazed brutes.
He examined his five hundred immortal kin, they had already changed into battle armor, the same green and black colors but a lot tougher and without the silver decorations that were instead replaced by all manner of grizzly trophies and dry blood. Skraal gave a nod to one of his escorts. The Dragonkin took whose name was Jakaka took a deep breath and burst a red flame into the air, a rallying order. The five hundred formed almost immediately, their organizational pattern was obvious.
The Scaled Deathguard was divided into five companies, each of which contained eight "Fangs" or squads made up of twelve warriors and two apothecaries. The eight squads in each company were divided in two categories both with a specific task, these were: Rangers who were tasked with thinning the numbers of enemy troops at a distance, and Front-liners whose job was to receive the enemy charge when in a defensive position and act as mixed infantry when not. The only exception to this hierarchy and order was the independent squad that moved around that was his personal squad of nine warriors and an apothecary.
“Tell the Second Company to remain at the castle protecting our lord, the rest with me,” Skraal ordered as he put his helmet on. Jakaka began spouting rings of fire, some bigger than others and with various tones. The second company started making its way inside the keep. The others burst out wings in unison. Skraal did the same, his wings way bigger than most. Then he took to the sky. It had been a while since he used the wings always hidden in his back and it took a while to get used to the feeling again. He could see the army was having the same problem but luckily after a few minutes of rising they had dealt with the silly inconvenient and were soaring through and then above the clouds in perfect formation.
Skraal’s plan was simple, he would fly behind the enemy to cut off any reinforcements or unwanted guests and await for any retreating survivors to come. His forces would then defeat the confused enemy, gather any information possible, and then proceed to systematically dispose of the elven scum. He hated being the scavenger of the lieutenants but until he amassed and trained another of his mortal armies (the last one died when the tunnels buried them alive) he could not join Ukdur in the initial charge or directly attack the enemy from above.
Actions: Skraal left 100 of his men to guard the throne room and went behind the enemy with the remainder of the Deathguard (400) to cut off reinforcements and kill any survivors from Ukdur's frontal charge.
Skraal is basically immortal in the long run as his patron god brings him back if he ever dies for he is the first paladin of Death, a relation that has been there longer than the human race and that no one knows why it is still there. Skraal is also a great strategist and economist due to the constant trial and error he has experienced during his extensive lifespan. He has learned from and taught the greatest minds of the world. He knows and has employed every strategy that exists (even inventing several of them) In his countless amount of time alive he has also learned to master most weapons and come to know all types of magic. However when it comes to the arcane the Dragonkin has preferred to evade it and knows only the basic of every field. As most Dragonkin (or at least his eternal clan) he can breathe fire if necessary and grow wings on his back that enable him to fly short distances.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses are a very hard thing to find in the eternal paladin but it is evident that outliving gods can make a being insensible and condescending with most. But his biggest personality flaw is one he developed rather recently (recent for his standards) which is attaining wealth, for Skraal believes that if there is one thing in his lifespan that has always being there it is the undeniable power of wealth. Skraal now is obsessed with amassing a vast fortune.
Another and his biggest flaw as life has proven is his vulnerability to assassinations and magic (magical weapons count) Skraal is so confident he never takes care of watching his back to stealth and always underestimates magicians.
Opinions
“Bastian is very decent with a blade for being so young and I find his presence actually tolerable for being in the company of a great warrior is always welcome but sadly his defeat was pathetic, he disgraced the tittle gifted to us by the Overlord and the expectations I had”
“The descendant of Melkor Hellhammer is just as fierce as the orc who once struck me down, and with the same weapon too. I would never underestimate the brute, especially after the pain the hammer produced when crushing my head so many years ago. Sharing a drink like the one I shared when congratulating his ancestor for killing me with such a notable warrior and leader would be an honor and if orc traditions keep being what they used to be, a very placid experience too,”
“The Spider Queen? Hate comes short when talking about daggers and spiders. The Drow used to employ both for combat, the Drow are now extinct. Related? Well yes as I made sure all of them were dead after the stealthy bastards assassinated me with both things, twice. Besides, she is obviously a rouge, being assassinated by rogues has gotten tiresome”
“An infant playing with powers he believes are his and a false concept of knowledge, those are the only words I can offer about the demon worshipping cultist.”
"He believes he is invincible. The lich truly believes his power is the greatest of all the lieutants but he doesn't realize he is just a foolish ghoul. It may be useful for me that he understimates my power, even putting me in the same category as my esteemed Ukdur. Also unknown to the mage is that I am the first of the bunch and on my armie's back was that the Overlord managed to reach his first conquests. The man that was Jundal the White still puked in his mother's arms when I waged conflicts against empires,"
"What can I say about the child of the sky? Some say he is a bigger and more impotent version of myself but they forget the years of experience that separate us. I respect him despite his foolish belief my years are not as I say. The Overlord is the only proof I need but I prefer not asking for such a mundane favor. Besides that the Dragon is a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to talking about finance. He is the only economic rival I have between the lieutenants, who knows how much money he holds? Luckily what he holds in gold I hold in important assets and inversions,”
Backstory
Skraal was born in ancient times when the world was mostly tropical and inhabited by giant lizards (Dinosaurs) His kind coexisted with most of these creatures and lived in harmony at a tribal stage while their numbers ruled the earth.
He was born in the golden age for his kind, a time when medicine, society and technology were exponentially growing and the sky was the limit. It was then when disaster struck, the countless volcanoes dotting this tropical earth began exploding all at once as Demons; one of the oldest races after angels woke up. The sky turned to ash and the land slowly started dying as lava and death spread throughout this pre historic world. The timeless demon armies massacred Skraal’s kind in the greatest genocide ever seen. The one sided war was brutal as the ancient evil cleansed the earth in the first apocalypse.
It seemed only the largest flying creatures (what later became known as dragons) would survive thanks to heaven’s protection (both figuratively and literally). Skraal was desperate, his kind had to survive somehow. He renounced his dying pantheon and tried to barter a deal with the lord of heaven but he refused as he had already bowed to protect one race, he then tried to barter with the lord of the demons but was rejected as well.
With no options left he was prepared to die in the last great city on earth. The nameless city had resisted wave after wave of demons thanks to his brilliance as a leader but its fall was near. Skraal gathered the last forces he could muster while leaving the breeders, young, and best warriors behind and charged into the enemy in a last ditch suicide run. It failed. His pathetic force was brutally torn to pieces by the demons and as he lay with an arm cut off from his torso and that same torso separated from his legs that he realized the only true god was Death.
It was death, the lord of the purgatory to whom he pledged alliance in his final words and it was Death who brought him back like new and gave him an eternal lifespan. Death also sent his city and survivors underground fooling the Demons into believing their apocalypse was over. The brightly colored scales of his people (and his) grew brown and their forms evolved as time passed. When they resurfaced after thousands of years the lush green tropical land he had left burning and filled with demons was now a rocky desert.
Up there through their vast and ancient knowledge the now dubbed Dragonkin by the new dominant races (A name they reluctantly accepted as they were still learning the language) began growing and making a vast kingdom. Skraal served as the king of this kingdom for a hundred years until his own kind got tired of his religion and greedy way of life and he was assassinated.
To his surprise Death still remembered his first paladin and brought him back once more. Skraal and his loyalists started a civil war which decimated his kin’s numbers and sent the kingdom into chaos which the elves took advantage of and took over. The Dragonkin scattered through the globe and Skraal had no choice but with his remaining supporters to become an elite mercenary army.
Because of this line of work he died 5 more times. The last of these was tragic as all his company got slaughtered by [someone related to someone’s past] It was then when a young Overlord approached him and offered to bring them back and make them invulnerable to disease and age if he joined him in the first stages of his master plan, Skraal gladly accepted and became his first lieutenant helping the great overlord accomplish his early goals with ease for the Scaled Deathguard is the smallest but most elite fighting force one could get.
Skraal was the last to fall, the small kingdom bestowed upon him was the last one the opposition could physically reach and so the Scaled Deathguard fearing for their now longtime leader hurried to intercept them on the outskirts of their master’s land. The guard held the “heroes” back for a whole month but after a Dwarf lord tricked them into battle on a series of underground tunnels the creature sacrificed himself and brought the network crashing down on all of them. Skraal died but was brought back while his forces were unable to die and so remained buried. After some time the Scaled Deathguard slowly managed to stabilize most of the subterranean complex and easily survived down there due to Skraal’s countless years in a similar situation. They trained and became even better, patiently awaiting the right time for the second resurfacing, this time however it didn’t take long…
We invent the fluff as we go so I decided it was best if we changed the distance between the prehistoric era and our own because heck this is a world of magic, so for logic's sake earth suffered its first apocalypse 50,000 years ago and it took it 25,000 years to change geographicaly so in that time underground Skraal and his people were in stasis. They then woke up and lived for 7,000 years down there warring against Drider and other sub-terrenean races before surfacing and living in harmony for another 8,000 years in a great empire. Civil War happened, the empire fell as elves rose and took dominance and the Deathguard was formed as a mercenary group 10,000 years prior to the start of the story. Then the first human cities were built 4,000 years later and a sensible amount of time after that (In the 6,000 years remaining) the overlord contacted Skraal for help in the first steps of building his empire. So to sum up he is 50,000 years old.
Hey guys, I wanted to say I’m sorry for not introducing myself to the team before posting but better late than never: I’m Condor and this is my first experience roleplaying/writing in the language/here on the guild. It's a pleasure to meet all of you and I hope we have lots of fun piecing a compelling story together and that I don’t screw up too much.
Austin leaned against a wall to observe what was happening, his face reflecting pure impassiveness as he disregarded the events surrounding him and instead focused on what was truly important: The individuals gathered inside that room. First he analyzed the annoying men in suits, humans? He wondered, they fit the profile but he wasn’t sure, either way he believed they were just grunts and if an escape was unavoidable cutting through them didn’t seem so hard. He then moved to the others, carefully inspecting each one with great detail as he tried to figure out what they could do and which of them could become powerful allies. Of course when regarding his kind nothing is what it seems but planning who to first acquaintance and side with was a great time killer.
Although most of the people gathered there were eye catchers, as a natural instinct his were first drawn onto the tall blonde with the tattoo. After a brief scan he quickly lost interest as she began addressing the rebellious and hot headed loud mouth. Naturally he also examined him. The kid has potential, he thought as even if he looked like a match with the crazy red hair and wimpy body his demonstration of power was enough for Austin to shortlist him. Next he continued to look through the non-obvious choices like the loner who was obviously evading everyone and the Asian chick but besides just a physical interest for the latter neither managed to capture his attention. His instinct then told him to put the regular looking guy on the imaginary list after giving him a quick glance but it was then when his gaze finally landed on the giant. Frighteningly tall and herculean, the powerhouse seemed like a perfect companion and Austin’s obvious choice as first acquaintance, he was the perfect image of what his race meant.
So it looks like Matchhead, Average Joe (David), and Goliath here are my best possible allies, the sonic user concluded. The mysterious master was still not there, he had time to at least introduce himself and maybe even befriend one of the three guys. Matchhead may not be very open to chit chat right now after what happened so I guess I’ll try to talk to one of the other two, as if on cue and making his decision simpler the universe gave the behemoth a meltdown. Well I guess that settles it, Austin walked over to Average Joe while people started observing the giant's madness. His friend target seemed concentrated on something but Austin still aproached him, failing to see the nebulae forming around the guy. He held out his hand. ‘Austin Colson, Haven survivor,’
He is a well built and kind of attractive blonde Caucasian. He has an athletically tall and brawny body. His arms are covered with supremacist superhuman gang related tattoos (A vulkan in his right arm and whatever the symbol for the rebellion may be on his left) his hair is a braided man bun with three braids tied into a ponytail while the remainder of his head is shaved. Finally Austin also counts with blue eyes, a chiseled jawline covered by a beard and a constant inscrutable yet appealing expression.

Personality
Austin has a natural tendency to marshal and direct. Sometimes he does it with the charm and finesse of a world leader but most time insensitivity is his way. He requires little encouragement to make or enforce a plan and will give it his all when he has one. He has a natural ability to talk and convince but prefers remaining quiet if he can as even if he has natural capabilities to lead he isn’t a leader, more suited towards a strategist/second in command role. To Austin all means can justify a cause and even if he can say "I'm really sorry you have to die," he will nonetheless pull the trigger precisely because he is decisive. In times of crisis he sees what needs to be done, and frequently assigns roles and plans carefully when needed the most. Few others can equal his ability to remain resolute in conflict, sending the valiant (and often leading the charge) into the mouth of hell if necessary. When challenged, Austin may by reflex become argumentative but alternatively he may unleash an icy gaze that serves notice: he is not one to be trifled with. He may not be the face you would put to your group or the one to give motivational speeches but he is the guy that will keep your people in line and operation running smoothly. All this qualities make him a reliable, loyal, and trustworthy squad leader and ally, if you are like him. Sadly his vision is too fanatical and he doesn’t care for anything other than Superhuman supremacy which makes him xenophobic towards humans and his hatred for them can make rage greatly overshadow his positive and useful qualities.
Biography/Background history
After the official discovery of powers many of the gifted believed others would harm them and so Austin’s parents along with several other families of superhumans banded together, founded and moved to what their kind regarded as a better place during 2016. This enclave known simply as Haven prospered and remained a quiet little town on Virginia only guilty of housing people wanting to be at peace without hiding who they were. Life on haven was pretty uneventful and normal for all its inhabitants until 2025 when Nick Washterson's nationwide convocation occurred and most of the town began helping SCAR and the rebels. Being part of a new generation and hope for the inhuman society Austin and his fellow Haven born superhumans were heavily indoctrinated into believing they were not just special but far superior to any normal man. Sadly when he was barely thirteen his town was bombed and subsequently attacked by the government. Austin and a few other younglings managed to survive the bombings by hiding in the sewers but their home, families, and lifestyle had been all erased due to the jealous and inferior humans, or so they thought. Under his leadership the group of surviving orphans banded together and managed to stay alive for a long time, living in seclusion and far away from human society. They taught themselves how to hunt, eat, and survive while evading contact with others but eventually moved to DC in 2042, decided to no longer live in fear. There they formed a notorious criminal, street leveled superhuman supremacy gang named Haven’s Marshalls and mainly dealt with human gangs while evading the police and the state’s eye. Dedicated to terrorizing humans and petty crimes the gang lacked real purpose but on 2044 after a bank robbery went wrong and accidentally ended in an aggravated murder the gang was imprisoned in a regular prison (the state not possessing proof they had powers) It was during his second year serving that a power struggle with a rival gang broke out inside the prison and Austin had to use his powers in order to evade being killed which landed him a transfer to the ORB.
Powers
Austin is in peak human condition, possesses enhanced hearing, can provoke pyrotechnically explosive attacks (through the use of sound), and concentrated sound and sonic waves. Austin unleashes wave after wave of devastating harmonics and literally rips his target apart with the power of extreme sounds. Visibly you can see these noise waves as transparent vibrating arcs and rings, similar to Marvel’s quake but unlike her it is not vibration its sound. When very angry as a last resort Austin can emit a giant wave in a circle around him capable of crumbling buildings, shattering bones, bursting organs and causing electronic equipment to explode as the wall of sonic energy passes over everything, however if he is forced to do this it will leave him powerless for a sensible amount of time. Austin can change the frequency of his attacks from a subsonic rumbling that tears buildings apart to a supersonic squall that pierces eardrums and flays skin from flesh. He may also scale repeatedly up and down these frequencies, causing a blast of sonic energy that rolls forward like a force wave from a massive conventional explosion but their unpredictability and rebounds are too dangerous for constant use. Because of this he usually only employs the crippling waves and sound spheres, which are self-sustainable balls of sound that besides vibrating away low density objects can grind into whatever they come in contact with to inflict major damage and are easily produced.
Weaknesses
A sound on the right frequency if used against him will render him useless because of his enhanced hearing. He also has a short to mid-range when engaging in combat because even if he can tear most things to pieces by vibrating them apart he must be close as his long range attacks are too explosive and unpredictable for regular use and his sound spheres although never breaking apart are easily dodged if from a distance. As mentioned before Austin can be a cold man and can sacrifice a brother, or himself if it can complete the mission making him insensible. Besides these flaws Austin also counts with eye problems as he can’t see too far away.
